Laura slowly opened her eyes, everything around her was white and sterile. She tried to move her arms, but they felt heavy, and a sharp pain in her head made her groan."Good morning, dear," a kind voice said.

Laura turned her head and saw a nurse smiling at her. "Where am I?" she asked, still feeling groggy.

"You're at the hospital," the nurse said. "You were in a car accident. But don't worry, you'll be fine."

Laura tried to sit up, but the nurse gently pushed her back down. "You need to rest," she said. "Your fiance is on his way. Would you like me to call him?"

Laura nodded, feeling a sense of relief that Clifton was coming. As the nurse made the phone call, Laura tried to remember what had happened.

She had been driving home from work when suddenly a car had swerved into her lane. She had tried to avoid it, but the other car had hit her, and everything had gone black.
