Alpha Red's POV
I sat in my office, my eyes fixed on Gaius as I asked him the question that had been weighing on my mind. “Is there something I can use to suppress my Lycan wolf?” I asked, my voice low and dangerous.
Gaius's eyes widened in shock, and he took a step back, clearly taken aback by my request. “Alpha Red, it's been years since you've asked for medical aid to tame your wolf,” he said, his voice laced with surprise. “You've always been able to control it on your own.”
I remembered the first time I had asked for help, when I was younger and still learning to navigate the beast within me. But over the years, I had grown more confident, more independent. I had learned to control my wolf, to keep it at bay.
But now, with Avery's presence stirring up emotions I thought I had long buried, I felt like I was losing my grip. The wolf was growing restless, urging me to claim her, to mark her as mine. And I knew I couldn't let that happen.
Gaius's eyes narrowed, his expression thoughtful. “I can try to create a serum to help you suppress the wolf,” he said, “but I have to warn you, Alpha Red, it's not without risks.”
I nodded, my jaw clenched in determination. I would do whatever it took to keep Avery safe, to keep myself from losing control. “Do it,” I growled.
Gaius's eyes locked onto mine, his gaze piercing. “Why the sudden interest in suppressing your wolf, Alpha Red?” he asked, his voice laced with curiosity. “Is it because of Avery?”
I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But I knew I couldn't tell him the truth — that Avery was my mate, and that my desire to claim her was growing stronger by the day. I couldn't risk it getting out, not even to Gaius. He was trustworthy, but I couldn't take the chance.
“The full moon is coming,” I said instead, my voice neutral. “I want to be in full control.”
Gaius nodded, his expression understanding. “Of course, Alpha Red.”
My mind wandered back to my interaction with Avery in my office. I couldn't shake the memory of her taste, sweet and intoxicating, from my lips. I had always felt a strong pull towards her, but after discovering yesterday that she was my mate, I was at a loss. I didn't know what to do.
The thought of making her my Luna, of claiming her as mine in front of the entire pack, made my blood run cold. I wasn't ready for that, wasn't ready to acknowledge my feelings to anyone, not even myself.
But I knew I couldn't deny it forever. The full moon was coming, and with it, my wolf's desire to claim Avery would only grow stronger. I was running out of time, and I knew it.
“Get to work on the serum, Gaius,” I instructed my voice firm.
Gaius nodded, but his expression was cautious. “Alpha Red, I must warn you, the serum won't guarantee 99% effectiveness. There's still a risk—”
“I understand,” I cut him off, my jaw clenched. “Just do it.”
After Gaius left, I stood alone in my chambers, my mind consumed by thoughts of Avery. The darkness outside seemed to seep into my soul, stirring the wolf within me. I usually lost my cool at night, and the last thing I wanted was to hurt or scare Avery again.
She had told me she feared me, and those words had unsettled me. I didn't want to be the one she feared. I couldn't reassure her that I wouldn't hurt her, but maybe I could make her fear me less.
I paced back and forth, trying to shake off the urge to go to her room. But my feet seemed to have a mind of their own, and before I knew it, I was walking towards her room instead of mine. The moon was rising, and my wolf was stirring, but I couldn't resist the pull of her presence.
I stopped outside her door, my hand hesitating over the handle. What was I doing? I shouldn't be here. But my desire to see her, to be near her, was overwhelming. I took a deep breath and pushed open the door, my heart pounding in my chest.
As I entered Avery's room, I was immediately greeted by the sweet scent of her presence. My eyes scanned the space, searching for her, until I heard the bathroom door creak open. She stepped out, a towel wrapped around her chest, her skin glistening with droplets of water.
All my resolve to avoid her flew out the window. My eyes devoured her, drinking in the sight of her vulnerable beauty. Avery walked to the dresser, oblivious to my presence, and I followed her, my feet moving silently across the floor.
I stood behind her, my body inches from hers, and inhaled deeply, letting her sweet scent wash over me. I was dangerously addicted to it, and I knew it. But I couldn't help myself.
Avery's eyes met mine in the mirror, and she jolted back with a gasp. But I was ready for her. I placed my hand on her hip, holding her in place, as I leaned down to inhale her scent again. My lips brushed against her ear, and I felt her shiver beneath my touch.
“Don't move,” I whispered, my voice low and husky. “Just stand still for a moment.”
Avery gasped again, her voice trembling as she asked, “What are you doing? Why are you in my room?”
I didn't answer. Instead, I kissed her neck, my lips tracing a path along her skin. I sucked gently, leaving a mark on her flesh. My other hand roamed over her body, pulling her close to me. She shuddered in my arms, her body responding to my touch.
I slipped my hand under her towel, my fingers caressing her thigh. Her skin was soft and warm, and I felt a surge of desire at the touch. Avery's eyes met mine in the mirror, and I saw a flash of fear mixed with something else — something that looked like desire.
I leaned in closer, my breath whispering against her ear. “You're so beautiful, Avery,” I whispered. “So fragile and strong at the same time.”
My hand slid higher, my fingers tracing the curve of her hip. Avery's eyes fluttered closed, and she leaned back against me, her body surrendering to my touch. I felt a growl rising in my throat, my wolf stirring with excitement. I was losing control, but I couldn't stop myself. I needed to touch her, to taste her, to claim her.
My hand moved between her legs, and I touched her, feeling her warmth and softness. But Avery quickly struggled against me, trying to break free. I caged her with my body, pinning her against the dresser, my arms trapping her in place.
“Stop,” she whispered, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and desire.
But I didn't listen. I held her firm, my fingers stroking her, feeling her tense beneath my touch. I watched her reaction in the mirror, seeing her bite her lip to stop herself from making a sound. It only made me more desperate to change that, to make her surrender to me.
I leaned in closer, my breath whispering against her ear. “Let go, Avery,” I whispered. “Just feel.”
But she was too stubborn, too proud. She refused to give in, even as her body betrayed her, trembling with need. I could smell her arousal, feel her pulse racing beneath my fingers. I stroked her again, my touch gentle but insistent, trying to break down her defenses.
Avery's eyes flashed open, meeting mine in the mirror. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us crackling like electricity. Then, she looked away, her jaw clenched in determination. But I saw the flicker of desire in her eyes, and I knew I had her right where I wanted her.
I wrapped my hand around Avery's throat, pulling her head against me as I continued to stroke her between her legs. She was wet, so wet, and I could feel her trembling beneath my touch.
“Stop,” she whispered again, her voice strained.
But I didn't listen. I pushed my finger inside her, feeling her flinch and trying to break free. She struggled against me, but I tightened my grip around her throat, holding her in place.
My teeth sank into her neck, a gentle bite, but enough to make her gasp. I felt her shudder, her body responding to my touch despite her protests.
“Alpha Red, please,” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
I lifted my head, my eyes meeting hers in the mirror. Her pupils were dilated, her cheeks flushed with arousal. She was torn, caught between fear and desire.
I leaned in closer, my breath whispering against her ear. “You're mine, Avery,” I whispered. “And I'll take what's mine.”
My finger slid deeper, and Avery's eyes fluttered closed, her body surrendering to my touch.
Avery's POV I felt his erection pressed against my ass, sending a shiver down my spine. It terrified me, but also sparked a forbidden arousal. My body heated up, threatening to be consumed by his intense heat.As I struggled again, he groaned, his hand on my throat moving downwards to palm my breast. His fingers danced across my skin, sending tremors through me. Then, he thrust another finger inside me, his digits knuckles-deep. I gasped as he twisted and curled them, teasing me mercilessly.“You're so wet, Avery,” he whispered, his voice low and husky. “Your body is begging for me.”I tried to deny it, but my traitorous body responded to his touch, and soon little gasps escaped my lips. His thumb was pressed against my clit and rubbed against my sensitive flesh. “A-Alpha Red!” I groaned out before I could stop myself, and he answered by picking up his pace. “Hmm, Avery? What do you want me to do?” He asked, taunting me. I pressed my lips together to stop myself from replying, but
The grand hall of the Moon Pack was teeming with life-a cacophony of clinking glasses, laughter, and hushed conversations that filled the air. Roasted meats, fresh bread, and fine wine wafted through the air, almost letting a person forget this wasn't supposed to be a celebration in the first place. At least, not to me.I sat alone at the far edge of the hall, in a dimly lit corner, which incredibly fitted my mood. My stepmother, Serena, floated through the crowd as if she was the grand dame of the evening, her golden gown shimmering under the light of the chandeliers. My father, Alpha Jack Moon, stood tall beside her, laughing with the guests as if the world revolved around them.I swallowed down the bitter lump in my throat as I glared down at the half-eaten fruitcake on the small plate in my hand. Today was supposed to be my day-my twenty-first birthday, my supposed "coming-of-age." Instead of being treated like the star of the evening, I was little more than an afterthought. The p
The night was awfully still, that sort of calm which made every groan of the wooden floor and every rustle of leaves outside a little bit louder. It was weeks since my birthday banquet, but the seer's words hung in the air, there yet not quite there, heavy with implication.I had lain in bed staring out the small window of my room. The crescent moon was low in the sky, casting pale rays that made for macabre shadows across the forest. Yet, there was this real feeling that things were not quite right.A sudden howl ripped through the silence, lowered and menacing.I froze. Then another howl followed. And another. The Bloodhounds. It came upon me in an instant, and a river of fear poured through my veins. The feared Bloodhounds had arrived, oozing their cruelty and unmatched strength.I jumped to my feet, throwing a coat atop my skinny nightdress. The packhouse was in a frenzy; there were all kinds of screams and snarls being shouted. I spilled out into the hall, where people ran both w
The door creaked open and I instinctively stepped backward as my breath caught in my throat. In that room, for one second, there was only the soft echo of his boots against the stone floor. As he stepped fully into view, my lungs ran out of air.The Red Alpha was even more fearsome up close than my mind had pictured. His tall, towering physique spoke volumes about power; the green eyes felt like they were drilling right into me, holding me paralyzed with intensity. His face was chiseled, his features composed-smooth, like the lull before the storm.I said nothing. My muscles were tight while I waited for him to say something. He crossed the room, his hands clasped behind him, drinking in his surroundings. Finally, he faced me, the curl of his lip in a small, almost amused smile."You're quieter than I expected," he said with that voice all smooth and deceptively calm. "Good. I like my acquisitions to know their place."I blinked to hear his words; his words dragged me from my stupor.
(Alpha Red Pov)I stormed from her room, my breathing heavy as I slammed the door behind me. The sound reverberated down the dimly lit hall, but it did little to calm the roaring chaos inside of me. My hands clenched into fists at my sides, the nails biting into my palms. Her face had seared itself into my mind, those wide grey eyes, flashing defiance and raw fear. It was that look that had triggered something deadly inside me. I had gone into her room cool, calm, prepared to outline the do's and don'ts for this beauty and put her straight regarding her place in the scheme of things. Yet she'd resisted. She had pushed and goaded until the monster inside me broke free once more.I wasn't sure if it was her words or the defiant stare that followed, but something about her unraveled me.I quickened my pace as my boots smashed against the stone floor down the corridor to my chambers. The wolf inside me stirred violently; its rage pounded against my skull."Alpha, is everything—A servant
The pale morning light seeped through the narrow window, but it offered little comfort. My body felt so heavy, as if I was slowly sinking into the thin mattress that supported me. All my muscles ached, and my head pounded away with a dull, ceaseless pain.I shifted uncomfortably, but the movement sent a sharp jolt through the back of my skull. Gritting my teeth, I reached back and felt the swelling just above my nape. Must have happened when he threw me down after releasing me last night-my head must have struck the stone wall. The memory of his glowing red eyes flashed in my mind, and I shivered.Alpha Red.His name was enough to send shivers of fear and hatred down my spine. My throat still burns from where his hand had clutched me, and my mind replayed that one moment over and over. The sheer rage in his eyes, the monstrous strength in his grip-it was unlike anything I'd ever seen.I closed my eyes and willed it away, but my mind strayed to my mother instead. Avery's POV Gaius looked down immediately and I wondered if perhaps he was speechless or just didn't feel the need to reply to me. Either way, I knew my opinion of Alpha red was not wrong. He had shown me his true nature. A beast and a selfish monster that took pleasure in inflicting pain to me and before I could stop my thoughts from remembering my encounter with him yesterday, I saw those green orbs staring down at me like I was nothing but an insignificant piece. My heart was racing like a runaway train, my breath catching in my throat as I thought about Alpha Red's hands closing around my neck like a vice. Avery's POV I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was back in my room, lying on the comfortable bed. But as I looked around, I realized that I wasn't alone. A little girl's face was hovering over mine, her eyes fixed on me with a mixture of sadness and curiosity.I sat up slowly, staring at the little girl in confusion. She couldn't have been more than 10 or 11 years old, with a mop of curly brown hair and a smattering of freckles across her nose. She looked up at me with big, brown eyes, her expression solemn.Just then, Gaius stepped into the room, a look of concern on his face. "Avery, how are you feeling?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.I rubbed my head, trying to remember what had happened. "I...I think I'm okay," I said, my voice a little shaky. "What happened?"Gaius smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You were accidentally bumped into by our little Anna here," he explained, nodding towards the little girl. Avery's POV I moved cautiously towards Alpha Red, my mind still reeling from the sudden change in his behavior. I sat down on his lap, trying to process what was happening. He wrapped a protective arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him.My heart skipped a beat as I felt his warmth and strength envelop me. I was still alarmed by the sudden change in his personality, and I wondered if he was just messing with me. But as I looked up at him, I saw something in his eyes that gave me pause.“What are you doing?” I asked him, trying to keep my voice steady.Alpha Red looked at me with an innocent expression, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “I'm holding you,” he said, his voice low and gentle. “Does it bother you?”I felt a flutter in my chest as I looked at him. There was something about the way he was holding me, something about the way he was looking at me, that made me feel… safe. It was a strange and unfamiliar feeling, and it left me feeling unbalanced because the last thing
Avery's POV “Damn it!” My body trembled with fear, my body still reeling from the shock of Alpha Red's sudden departure. Although I was scared, I was also relieved that he had left my room. My heart was still pounding in my chest, and I could feel the heat of his touch lingering on my skin.I couldn't shake the memory of his lips on my neck, the way his breath had sent shivers down my spine. I should be horrified, repulsed by what had just happened. But instead, I felt…aroused. It was as if my body had betrayed me, responding to Alpha Red's touch in a way that I couldn't control.I felt a wave of shame wash over me, and I buried my face in my hands, trying to process what had just happened. Alpha Red’s POV I closed my eyes, trying to fight the beast that was rising inside me. I could feel it on the edge, it hot breathed on the back of my neck, its claws digging into my skin. I didn't want to hurt Avery again, but I feared that my wolf would take over, that I would lose myself to its primal fury.Just when I thought I had quieted the beast, Avery's voice cut through the air, her words like a slap to my face. “You're nothing but a beast who hurts people for pleasure,” she spat, her eyes flashing with defiance. “I'm sorry for those who see you as a hero because they have no idea about the beast you really are.”Her words were like a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless and reeling. I had thought that I had escaped this place, that I had left its horrors behind me. But now, as I stood outside the door to my new room, I realized that I was back where I started.I pushed open the door and stepped inside, my eyes scanning the room with a sense of trepidation. It was smaller than my old room, with plain white walls and a single window that looked out onto the palace gardens. But it was the bed that caught my attention.
