Amante POV

I’m never wrong with my instincts. It has always been on point and had saved me every time. Beta Emir with Maziar following closely behind is by the door, giving their respectful greetings to the Alpha King and his Luna who has a look of stoic resignation on their faces. I can sense the tension in the air. The newly arrived guests awkwardly walk in and sit next to me. I see Maziar’s questioning glare at me but I ignore him. He’s going to discover it himself soon. As I had planned, everybody has him under the hot seat. They are now bombarding him with questions about the place with better food resources that he completely excludes from his hunting escapades for two decades. It is near enough to be discovered if he had done his duties diligently

Cape Narciso, as Detective Andrews name it, is a large, ice-capped island. It is mysterious as it can appear and disappear from one’s peripheral vision due to thick fog banks, pumice rafts from underwater volcanoes, floating icebergs, and freak breakers. As we came nearer the ice shelf edges, the combers moved slowly in. We need an ice boat or something to reach the low-lying coastal area along the Peninsula. Luckily, matted clumps of vegetation have been swept off the dry land. The long, narrow mass of land along the northern borders of Antarctica is thick with layer of ice and snow, which can exceed 1,200 m deep. A lone mountain range is half-covered by a glacier, very high, all white, and seemed to extend to the sky with its peak visible only with the beaming light of the crescent moon. It is already midnight when we reach the dry bank. We walk in silence, wary of the foreign but spectacular land

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Sixteen

Amante POV Having a human mate had its perks as well. Allyssa is such a weakling, vulnerable, and easy to crash within my grasp.I ravage on her delicate body as soon as the feast celebrated for my successful hunting ended. I was delighted when I heard from my packmates that they haven’t seen her out. She stayed in her room as instructed for all the days I have gone away. That’s a clear sign of her obedience and subordination. But still, I found myself resenting her. Marina was with her when I entered her room. Both girls were having the best of their times, I saw that. Marina was fixing Allyssa's silky black hair into a roy

Amante POV “Amante, your human mate is by the lake, making a scene with some packmates. Fetch her up now!”, a sudden mind link from an irritated Beta Emir penetrates inside my mind as soon as I step on the territorial borderline. I am taken aback by the tone of voice he uses at me. How dare he! I was just trying to get ahold of him to announce my arrival thru the mind link. I never expected to be barked upon by some jerk. I feel my heating blood rushing up my face. I am completely humiliated! Though the mind link is just between us two, I could not help but be offended. He's shouting at me like some petty doggie wagging its tail at his command. “Growl…I will!”, I replied and shut him off, the air seems to be engulfed by an invisible fire of wrath. “Go by yourselves to the storehouse. I've got somewhere else t

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Eighteen

Amante POV It’s hard to believe that there are creatures still unknown to the world of darkness. Sure, I have heard tales of vampires and some mystical forest entities like fairies, and even mermaids, but their existence has long been forgotten. They have gone on hibernation to nowhere some hundreds of years ago. Only our race, werewolves, have the guts to survive along with humans. We rule, or so I thought! It took me an hour or so to get to the point of view of the battleground. I fail to urge Amaltheo to shift and I have to painstakingly, without stopping once, run through the frozen land of Verte Monde in my naked human form. The night is filled with darkness, not a sight of the moon or even stars. The cold gust of s

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Nineteen

Amante POV There’s chaos everywhere. Several she-wolves with their children howl over their dead mates. The pack grounds are a terrible sight to see. I notice the Luna fetches her bloody husband and they enter their abode solemnly. The wailings never seem to cease at any point in time. It’s horrible in here. ********* The screaming and crying out loud of those left behind still lingers in my mind. I can sense their sanity fading away, barely holding on to their unfortunate life. The gasps, those terrible hiccups coming from those innocent, little ones. Why do they have to suffer in this unjust world? We were simply living our lives peaceful

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Twenty

Amante POV All werewolves have their spirit wolf. At some certain age, our wolves are awakened. It is an essential part of our existence. It distinguishes us from humans. It is known to be the strongest part of our being. When in wolf form, our senses are heightened, our strengths tripled, and we can smell and sense our mate at an approximate distance. In human form, our wolf stays inside our minds, like some sort of inner ghost and/or in human language “conscience”. They are supposed to be our protector, confidante, and spiritual guide. A werewolf without a wolf can be considered a mere human. We are called werewolves simply because we have a wolf. Once the awakening takes place, it is very unlikely for a wolf to depart from the werewolf’s body, like souls from hum

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Twenty-One

Amante POV I look straight into Amaltheo’s eyes. I want to see him through and find something to entice him to get back inside of me. I admit I am nothing without him. Even my packmates would treat me differently or worst bully me. I’d be susceptible to humiliation and might even be banished from the pack. All my efforts to be the Alpha King would fall down the drain. I need Amaltheo. What does he want that I can offer in exchange for his loyalty to me? I watch attentively. Amaltheo crouch down beside Allyssa. He’s trying to reduce the coldness around her. Ah! That’s why she survived. She managed to withstand the freezing cold because of my spirit wolf. The heat from his body is enough to keep her

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter Twenty-Two

Amante POV I carry my sleeping mate back to her room. Her body isn’t even cold even though she’s been in the freezing dungeon the whole night. Amaltheo seems to take very good care of Allyssa. A very dedicated mate indeed! I put her down on the bed, and cover her with the blanket. She cuddles the pillow next to her. She looks content and peaceful in her sleep. I notice her face still holds the beauty that mesmerizes me once, but I’m not sure if it is beneficial to me at all. She looks innocent and naïve. She has a gentle aura on her, comforting and loving. &nb

  • The Rejected Quisling   Epilogue

A year later, under the glorious moonlight, two shadows can be seen lurking at the top of Empire State Building in New York, USA. It was Amante with his mate Allyssa. They were observing the people gathered below for the New Year’s eve celebration. Right after the magnificent fireworks display, they stared at each other with generous smiles plastered on their faces. “Time has come, my love! I’m happy to be here beside you right now!” Amante whispered lovingly on his wife’s ears. Allyssa giggled like love-struck teenager when she felt butterflies in her stomach because of her husband’s words. “I love you!” was all she could answer to that. They lovingly wrapped each other in tight embrace. Amante mind linked his Beta, the eleven year old Kelvin who showed him that age was nothing but a number. “Everybody on their places, Beta Kelvin?” “Aye, Alpha King Amante! W

Amante POV “Take a look at that, Maziar. Those were the human beings werewolves have been wary about all their lives. Most of them does not even believe our kinds do exist.” We were at the city center, fitting ourselves with the bustling people around. I could sense Maziar’s discomfort. He was extremely anxious. “Serves him right.” The amusement in Amaltheo’s chuckle made me smile unconsciously. I turned towards the corner of a street where a street performance seemed to have caught everyone’s attention. Maziar followed behind hesitantly. I was not bothered by the idea that he might try to escape, and I guess, he knows why. As the night started to fade away, the crowd on the streets finally began to diminish as people go their separate ways. “See that, Maziar? Nobody notices our existence within the human populace. There was not a reason to hibernate in that barren, frozen la

Amante POV“Come with me, Maziar. I can show you the world, the real world I wanted to conquer the most.”Although I haven’t tried it myself, an idea of transporting with someone from place to place has a good impression on me.And because this was just a trial and error phase, there’s no one other than Maziar Brennan who fitted the most as my companion.I could boast my powers right in front of his sulking face and I could simply ditch him somewhere barren to die alone and miserable. The look on his face was satisfying. This time I’ve transformed back into my human form and I quickly grabbed him by the neck. There would be no place for him to but with me.With nothing on, I did not hesitate to summon my teleportation power. • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter 116

Amante POVHaving been a quisling myself, I’ve masterfully acquired the tacit ways to get someone fooled; one, was to make the fool believe what isn’t true, and, the other was to make the truth as unbearable misery as possible that the ignorant would refuse to believe it himself.Maziar Brennan has the nerve to put me in such dilemma. If his goal was to plant doubts and mislead me, he had already succeeded halfway. My rationality was clouded with his poisonous truth, so intense that I almost found myself collapsing on the ground.I never wanted to be seen weak and vulnerable. It was degrading on my part to slump like the whole world has fallen down on me.But what else could be done?Maziar Brennan. The traitor that dared to kill me, stole from me, and challenged my ascendency was my first and only blood cousin!I have always thought I was the last of all Del Fuegos.

  • The Rejected Quisling   Chapter One Hundred Fifteen

Amante POVMaziar Brennan remained silent for a while longer. He seemed to be on his own world, contemplating on his next move. Even his followers were quiet and did not attempt to move a bit far from where I found them when I first appeared in front of them. I kept myself at bay, taking the risk of being too exposed but not at the mercy of any werewolves who would dare challenge me.Amaltheo, my spirit wolf on his glorious magnificence, was totally intimidating and looking as menacing as possible without much effort. The silver fur was glistening at the flickering firecrackers made by the bonfire at the center of the cave. The calf they were roasting was burnt for being left untouched from the fire consuming its shrunk meat. No one cared, or if there might be, they forcefully convinced themselves to stay away and let it burn and

Amante POVIt would remain a mystery on me how Maziar Brennan became the traitor I have been before. It was the tag I used to carry discreetly all through out the years I stayed with the Irati Nardus Pack. The things I did, the secrets I hide, and the betrayals I concealed before become his to endure, and as charged to my past experiences, it would lead him to nowhere but doom. There were so many things I would like to ask him. I should have it all written down on a piece of paper so it would have been easier for me, as I only needed to read it aloud. It was because, right now, I suddenly felt stupefied in front of him. I maybe as stunned as his petrified condition which made us both silent for a couple of seconds.Only the cracklings of the burning firewood and the heavy breathing of the werewolves inside this cave was the only noise that echoes around. Rather than attacking me as I had an

Amante POV“I would go and confront the traitor, Maziar Brennan, all by myself!”My words were instantly shunned with exasperated gasps from everyone, most especially my mate, Allyssa Lausanne. She jerked out of my arms with shaken standpoint.“What are you talking about? You know very well that I would never let you do this without me by your side. What were you thinking, huh, Amante?”Her voice were filled with disappointments and disbelief. I have already anticipated her extreme reactions way before I have even got the chance to voice out my perceptions on the problems we were facing because of Maziar. There would be no other way out of this, but to patiently persuade her to comply, as this would be the only chance we got to ensure the success of capturing the rotten bastard.“Calm down and hear me away first, Allyssa!”I have never tried to use

How do everyone reacted? Does any one of you aware that she was the one who really killed Marina?”Alpha Vincent shifted nervously before replying to Allyssa. His anxiety was visibly pasted on his flustered face.“I would start by begging for forgiveness. I am truly sorry, Luna Allyssa, but the truth was, except for Alpha Mayor who was settled at the island of Cape Narciso, everyone knows that you were not really to blame for Marina's death. Despite that, we proceeded on your unfair trial. The council was convinced that it was the best way to get rid of you or at least get you kicked out of

Amante POVIt was getting dark outside when we finished cooking up the moose meat. The whole process was filled with laughter and I enjoyed every second of it. We were like a real family having the best day of their lives together in the most common yet fulfilling corner of the house, the kitchen. As we started moving out, I scanned my surroundings. The bright moon had half appeared behind the darkened clouds. It was not very common to see stars in the sky of Antarctica. It was simply because of the harsh and most often violent climate of the weather. In here, the snow does not stop pouring throughout the year.I felt the chilly breeze from the icy squalls that dances along with the gentle wind.Mixed with the pungent and familiar scents of my packmates was the savory aroma of the roasted meat prepared by Kelvin for his sickly friend Lyka, the unica hija of the former Beta of Alpha K
