Chapter 0004

As you know, bad news travels fast.

People didn't bother to wait for me to leave their presence before they started talking about what happened between Bea and I.

Yesterday and today have been the most embarrassing days of my life.

First, my mate rejects me after a few minutes of just meeting me then comes back to tell me my body is his. Talk about the most confusing thing ever.

Then the next day, his mistress comes to my work place to slap me in front of everyone...twice. She slapped me twice!

As an omega, I can't do anything but to take it all in.

I cried my heart out today. I've never felt more pained in my life.

I'm not even talking to Lily . I'm too ashamed to tell her what really happened.

Everyone else assumes that I tried to force myself on the Alpha. They assumed this based on the things Bea said.

All day, people have called me all sorts of hurtful names. I've been called a whore about five times.

I hear the whispers everywhere I go.

I can't wait to cover myself with my blanket and sleep my pain away. I'm the happiest version of myself in my dreams.

I stood in the kitchen chopping vegetables.

Me and a few other ladies worked together in the kitchen to prepare dinner for Kim and some of her friends that she had over.

The sound of the knife hitting the board repeatedly gave me the distraction that I needed.

Even in the kitchen, I could hear the hushed whispers from the ladies. It's almost as if they were taunting me, waiting for me to say something.

I ignored them.

"Guys!" a girl squealed as she came in "I have news"

"Spill" the other girls said.

"Alpha Jax and Ms Bea are engaged"

The other two ladies squealed in excitement.

"There's going to be a wedding!" one of them said excitedly

Her words sent a shockwave through my entire body.

My hands trembled.

I had to grip the knife tightly to stop it from falling to the floor.

The room seemed to spin and I struggled to catch my breath.

Alpha Jax was engaged?

My soul mate given to me by the moon goddess herself was getting married to someone else.

The realization hit me like a tidal wave.

From the corner of my eye, I could see the three of them glavce at me.

They were looking at me to see my reaction.

After a few seconds, they went back to their conversation and gossiped about the future wedding.

Every word they said sliced though my heart.

When I was done with my chores, I wiped my tears and fled from the kitchen.

I need to get out of here.

I need space.

Ineed to be alone.

I ran all the way to the forest. It could be the safe space that I need right ow.

As I entered, sounds of the rustling leaves welcomed me.

I walked to the lake and sat at the bank.

The pain crashed over me in waves. I couldn't hold back the tears that wrecked my body.

Tears streamed down my face uncontrollably.

I allowed myself to feel pain. I mourned the loss of what I could have had with my mate. All my dreams were shattered.

I always dreamed of having a mate that would love me.

The ache in my chest seemed to be unbearable.

It felt as if a piece of my soul had been torn away.

I was already dealing with the pain of the rejection and now, this happened.

Maybe I should just die.

What else is there to live for anyway?

I lived for the thought of finding my mate. I thought life would be great with him.

"Hi" a voice said from behind me.

I turned back to see who it was. It was Madison.

What's she doing here?

"Ms Madison" I murmured "Good evening"

"I take it you've heard the news" she said.

I nodded "Sadly"

"Don't be too hard on yourself. You shouldn't be too surprised. I came looking for you by the way"

I looked at her confusedly "Why?"

"You see, you need to leave"

"Leave?"

"Now that Jax and Bea are engaged, you can't be here. If you're here, you'll be a threat to their marriage"

"How? He rejected me"

"Yes and ever sivce then, he hasn't been the same. His wolf is going crazy without you. Nate, Bea and I have tried oue best even with the help of the pack doctor but he's been crying out for you. You guys just met yesterday yet it's so bad that he could barely sleep. It only gets worse as time goes on. Soon enough, he won't be able to stay away from you. He won't help himself which is why you need to go. As long as you're around, it's not going to work out between them"

I looked at her with teary eyes "Where would I go?"

She smiled evilly and shrugged "I don't know and I don't care. All I know is that you have to disappear"

I looked at the ground.

I can't just leave like that.

I don't have anywhere to go.

Ihave no money and no destination.

I would be a rogue which isn't even an option for me.

"I can't" I said.

Madison sighed "I knew you would say that"

The next thing she did was something I would have never expected in a thousand years.

She brought out a knife and sliced her right arm with it.

I stood up and gasped in horror.

"Why did you do that?"I shrieked.

Madison has always been an unhinged but I didn't know she could be this crazy.

She threw the knife at my feet.

" You'll see" She said with a smirk.

Amlost immediately, her expression turned into a pitiful one.

"Help!" she cried "Guards! I've been stabbed"

What?

She cried loudly as if she was in pain. She let out a loud scream.

I was baffled by all that was going on in front of me.

What is she doing?

It didn't take long for guards to come out. They always patrolled the pack at night.

"What's going on here?" one of them asked.

"She cut my arm!" Madison cried out in pain.

"What?" I shrieked "That's not true"

The guard's gaze went towards the knife at my feet and then back at me.

The realization of what Madison did came to me. She was trying to set me up.

I'm screwed.

"It's not what it looks like' I said "I swear. Please, lisen to me"

"You're coming with us" the guard said "Get her, guys"

"What?" I cried "No"

The two guards grabbed both of my arms and pulled me out of the forest.

My heart rate increased. Fear crept into my heart.

What the hell is happening?

"It's not true" I said "Please, believe me"

"Shut up!" the guard snapped "We're taking you straight to the Alpha. He'll decide what to do with you"

That even made me more scared.

Alpha Jax will no doubt believe Madison.

They've been friends for years. He's going to hate me even more for something that's not my fault.

Why is this happening to me?

Tears streamed down my face as I sobbed profusely.

"Please" I begged "I'm begging you. Please, believe me"

I tried struggling against them but it was no use. They were too strong.

They took me out of the forest and towards the Alpha's office building.

I was so scared of what would happen to me. Alpha Jax won't believe me.

He's known for giving fierce punishments. Only the moon goddess knows how he's going to treat me.

They might lock me up in the dungeon, torture me or even banish me

Soon enough, we entered the building. They dragged me all the way upstairs till we got to a door.

The head guard knocked.

'Come in" an unfamiliar voice said.

That doesn't sound like Alpha Jax.

We all entered.

I looked down at the floor. I could feel the dominant waves being emitted from the person in the room.

I can't look at the person in the face.

"What's the matter?" the voice asked.

The sound of the voice sent shivers down my spine.

I was tempted to hear him speak again. I had thoughts of him speaking directly into my ears.

Wait?

Why do I feel like this?

One of the guards tied my hands to my back with handcuffs and threw me to the floor.

I hit the ground with a thud. I winced in pain.

"We're sorry to bother you, your Highness" the guard spoke "I thought Alpha Jax was here"

"He was" the person responded "He left to attend to something. We're supposed to have a meeting. What's the prolem here?"

"We have an offender' the head guard said "We wanted the Alpha to decide what to do with her. She attacked one of his closest friends"

"Stand up" the man said.

I knew he was talking to me.

I struggled a bit but I finally stood up.

"Look at me" he said.

I stared at him.

I gasped when we made eye contact.

A myriad of emotions swirled within me at the sight of him. It was as if time stood still.

His eyes were a mesmerizing shade of brown mixed with someone else.

His amber eyes held a warmth and gentleness that captivated me. They sparkled under the chandelier lights. With the way they sparkled, you would think they held stars in them. With the way he looked at me, it felt as if he could see through me.

He stood tall with confidence. Just by looking at him, you could tell he was royalty.

He had a sculpted phsyque, just like Jax. His muscles bulged from his shirt. His presence alone exuded confidence and an aura of power.

His dark tousled hair added to his charm. Some of it fell to his eyes in the most attractive way.

Looking at him made me feel breathless.

I felt a connection to him deep in my heart.

It was a magnetic pull. I could feel the force drawing me closer to him.

A jolt of electiricty ran through my veins.

The world around me seemed to fade. All I could focus on was him.

Unlike Jax, I felt a feeling of warmth in his presence. His energy seemed to intertwine with mine, creating an instant bond between us.

I couldn't believe this.

Alpha Jax just rejected me.

How is this possible?

"Mate" the man and I whispered.
