Chapter 0003

The next day, we all lined up outside Kim's office for our pay. All the ladies who worked last night at the party were all here.

The line was moving very slowly. Occasionally, we would hear someone raise their voice at Kim. This could only mean one thing – Kim's at it again. She's been cheating the girls.

I don't know why the girls are still surprised or waste their strength to be consumed by anger. We should all be used to it by now.

Kim has never been a straight forward person. She cheats us every chance she gets.

It's sad but it's something we have to learn to deal with. There's nothing anyone can do about it.

"You bitch" I heard someone yell "I work my ass off for hours yet this is what you give me?"

"You dare to talk to me like that? After everything I've done for you!" Kim screamed back "You know what? You're going to be jobless for a whole week"

"You can't do that!"

"I just did. Since, you don't like my payment, let's see how you can do without it"

"But-"

"No buts. Get out of my office!"

The girl left Kim's office with so much anger that I thought the floor would open up as she walked.

I became scared a bit.

Does this mean Kim will cut a lot from my money too?

"That sucks" Lily said from behind me.

"Tell me about it" I said.

"Next!" Kim shouted.

It was my turn.

With a fast beating heart, I made my way into her office and closed the door.

"Good day, ma'am' I said.

"Here" Kim said, handing me some cash.

I collected it and counted it.

It was just thirty dollars.

I looked at her in shock.

"Is this for the whole week?" I asked her.

She looked at me with an irritated expression "Yes. What else would it e for? A day?"

I'm supposed to be paid by the hours I worked. I worked for over five hours each day and this is what I get?

No wonder the ladies have been so pissed.

I know Kim has a cut from all our salaries but this one is just too much.

This can't cover my feeding needs for a week.

"It's too little" I said "Last night alone, I worked for over five hours. Please-"

"Speaking of last night" she interrupted me "I got a complaint from Ms Bea. She said you weren't of good behaviour. That's the main reason I'm cutting your pay"

What?

Bea reported me? Why?

"Cause she's jealous of you and Jax" my wolf whispered.

That's ridiculous. Alpha Jax rejected me in front of her.

He literally chose her over me and I'm his mate. If anyone should be jealous, it should be me.

"That's not true" I said.

"I prioritize my customers and if they make a complaint about you, you have to be punished"

"But I -"

She raised her hand, signaling me to stop talking "That's all for that matter. My decision is final. Also, go outside and water the plants. You have a lot of work to do today. If that's all, leave my office'

I clenched and uclenched my fists.

As I stared at her, I could feel my blood boil.

Sadly, I can't do anything.

I didn't want to argue with her.

I was beyond hurt but there was nothing I could do at this point

I left her office with teary eyes and made my way outside.

I couldn't fight her so I channeled all my anger into the work I had to do.

I went to the backyard to get buckets to fetch some water in them from a nearby tap. I carried two of them and started watering the plants.

I was so annoyed to the point where I wanted to cry my eyes out.

Why is life so unfair?

I have worked so hard this week yet I have nothing to show for it.

The people at the top think they can do anything and get away with it.

It makes me sad when things like this happen. It's not fair to us at all.

I wish I could leave this place.

I wish I could run away and never come back.

That's not possible unless I want to be a rogue. I doubt I'll last two days in the wild. I don't even have a wolf. I'll be eaten alive in no time.

I wiped the stray tears from my eyes and continued my work.

Life is tough but you have to keep moving.

The sound of a car caught my attention. I looked up to see who it was.

I noticed a black Mercedes park not too far away from me. The car looks awfully familiar.

A man dressed in a suit opened the passenger side, revealing someone I never thought I'd see here.

Bea stepped down.

I was surprised to see her.

What's she doing here?

Not wanting a repeat of yesterday's incident, I quickly looked away. I don't want anymore trouble.

"There she is" I heard Bea say "Oh Mia!"

Me? Why is she calling me?

I turned to face her, my head still down.

"Yes, Ms Bea" I said.

The sound of her heels could be heard as she made her way over to me.

"I came here just for you" she said.

What does she mean by that?

Why would she come here for me?

Did I do something?

Oh no.

I hope this isn't about me being in the bathroom with Alpha Jax. She looked really upset about it last night.

"What can I do for you?" I asked her.

"Look up"

As instructed, I raised my head to look at her.

As soon as I did that, she raised her hand then connected it to my cheek.

The sting of the slap lingered.

I was so confused. I had no idea why she just slapped me.

The ladies outside whispered and watched us.

This is so embarrassing.

The pain on my cheek washed over me like a wave.

I closed my eyes, letting the tears roll down.

"That's what whores like you deserve" she said "Stay away from Alpha Jax"

"He already rejected me" I whimpered.

"That didn't stop you yesterday. He said you were forcing yourself on him. He said you were begging him to take you back"

I shook my head with tears in my eyes "That's not true"

Before I could defend myself, she slapped me again.

"Are you calling Jax a liar?"

"Nl" I cried "I-"

"Shut up! Let me make this clear, Jax is mine and mine alone. I won't compete for him with a silly omega like you. Got it?"

I didn't want anymore trouble so I didn't bother arguing with her.

"Yes ma'am"

"Good. If I see you two together next time, I'll kill you with my bare hands"
