Chapter 21 – Restructuring

I sigh as Mika and Lace continue to argue over the pack finances, Lace wondering why six-thousand dollars were spent on alcohol monthly as Mika tries to deflect the conversation to a different direction. I have a hunch on why the money was spent that way, one that caused me immense pain every time Mika decided to throw a she-wolf into bed with him. But I will let Lace figure it out on her own.

“Mika, please tell me you did not spend six-thousand on she wolves?” Lace asks, rubbing the bridge of her nose.

“It was Bastian’s idea. He said I needed a mate and would throw lavish parties for me to meet she-wolves!” Mika finally shouts out and I roll my eyes. Of course it would be that bastard’s idea. Knowing what happens to a she-wolf when her mate screws around with another she-wolf is something every werewolf learns in sex-ed.

“No wonder Geminie hates you! I hate you!” Lace shouts, the room going si

Chapter 22 – Sharpening the Hidden Claws As I stand on the side of the familiar outdoors training ground, I watch as wolves pile in, some whispering about my wolves stationed at equal intervals around the grounds, some questioning why I am here when I left the pack nearly three years ago. I just keep a stoic smile on my face, Ariven chuckling as he watches the wolves stretch, each breaking into their own cliques. I spy the Hunters that used to make my life a living night mare, wolves I am itching to destroy in a fight. I spy the trackers that ignored my existence, their excuse always being their job is more important than a “Lowly Omega”. I am neutral towards them as they neither joined in my abuse nor stepped into help me. I spy the Omegas, their malnourished bodies still a site to see, one which I know will change under Lace’s rule with time. Seeing Misbah and Lilly again, their skinny bodies still the same as usual but the two hold their heads high with pride.

Chapter 23- A Bond Breaking “Riv, please go away.” I groan out, throwing a pillow at the man’s head as I burry under the warm blankets seeking the cover of darkness and more sleep. It’s been a week since arriving at Hidden Claws, the experience still bitter with the horrid memories from my child hood making fulfilling this request for aid hard. The second request of looking for Soulless adding stress to my already stressful job as I spend nights running around no-mans land outside pack territory to look for evidence of the Soulless caravan and their possible leader. Last night being such a night that left me coming to the guest house at four in the morning and exhausted with the need for sleep. “Come on Gem. You’ve been distant from me with the last few days. I just want to come cuddle with you and talk.” Ariven’s husky voice pleads, his hand finding my hair that he promptly plays with. I want to melt into his touch, allow him to explain his thinking of

Chapter 24 – Alpha Lace “Thank you for making me accept this request.” I whisper to Ariven as we cuddle in bed, the television playing some gaming channel on YouTube that Ariven watches while I doze on his chest, his hands gently rubbing circles on my back. An hour has gone by since the bond broke between Mika and I, pack mates coming to inform me that he is still outside waiting for me to come and talk. For him to apologize for the years of hurt he has given me. I just tell them to make sure that his pack stays away for the wolf to grieve and that no one attacks him. It’s the basic thing I can do for Mika considering our history and lack of animosity he has shown on this trip. “You don’t have to thank me. I tricked and betrayed your trust to get you here.” Ariven answers and I smile, planting a kiss over his heart and snuggling closer to the man below me. This reaction gives me a deep chuckle in response, his own light kiss being placed on my forehead

Chapter 25 – First Attack The familiar howl ends as multiple pare of eyes -red eyes- appear from the forest, the stench of death and decay reaching the ceremony grounds. Days of being in hiding while I search for these Soulless bands and nothing. Now they decide to show on a day that should be meant for celebrating. “Lace link the Omegas and have them and all children and the weak hide in the safe rooms. Mika, call the warriors on duty and make sure they get those out to safety.” I order, rushing to my feet and kicking off the strappy heels that Lace forced me to wear. At least the stilettos will make a great weapon. I watch, the Soulless stumbling in as if their limbs are being controlled like marionettes, waiting for an opening to attack and I see it, the first wolf in the middle is leading the pack, his blood red eyes tinted with black. He is the leader. Taking aim, I throw the first stiletto, happy as the sharp thin heel imbeds itself into the righ

Chapter 26 – Memories “Geminie, are you okay in there?” Ariven’s voice calls out but I stay silent. Sitting on the floor in the bath tub I allow the warm water to fall onto my shivering body from the shower above. I feel cold, not from the warm air but from the fear still coursing through me. All I can think about is my fourteenth birthday, a day that killed the innocence inside me. The water stops and strong arms lift me from my siting position wrapping me in a large soft and fluffy towel and Ariven’s scent fills me. “It’s okay darling. No one can hurt you.” He whispers, his hands slowly rubbing my back. We sit on the bathroom floor, my body shaking while clinging to his now damp shirt, fighting back the tears threatening to spill. Ice blue eyes hunt my mind, eyes that help pleasure and greed inside them. “No one can hurt you Geminie, not with me here.” Ariven reassures, tucking my head under his chin not caring for my dripping hair. Chapter 27 – Acceptance “Darling. It’s time to wake up.” I groan, the warmth of the bed too tempting to get up as I snuggle deeper under the blanket with an amused deep chuckle coming from behind me. Strong arms wrap around my waist, pulling me closer to a familiar body. “Come on Gem, we promised Lace to train the wolves of Hidden Claws today.” Ariven’s voice registers in my mind. I sigh, turning in his arms to snuggle closer to him, my mind still a sleep filled haze. Last night was exhausting between the attack from the Soulless to the memories of being raped by Lupus surfacing and crying as I explain my past to Ariven. Finger run through my hair, lulling me in and out of sleep as my face is buried into the crook of his neck. “Geminie, you’re naked.” I bolt awake with the statement, making sure to cover myself for a moment with Ariven clutching his stomach laughing so hard at my brief moment of panic. “C’mon Gem, it’s n

Chapter 28 – Unexpected Hot Training "I think you're trying to kill us!" A she wolf calls out looking over my shoulder I spy a petite brunet trying her best to keep up with me, her face flushed with exhaustion. I search through my memories and finally place her as Lena, a she wolf who’s mother was the second of command to the Trackers in the pack. I remembered the days she would push me into lockers, down stairs and ruin my homework. She caused many headaches and is the reason why I had to make duplicates of my work. I huff out a breath, wanting to get a bit of petty revenge and pretend to ignore her, picking up speed and making sure she stayed just far enough behind. “I…I’m s…sorry Gem..inie.” She huffs out, the strain evident in her voice. She manages to keep up with me, my indifference falling as my ears are pointed in her direction. Chapter 29 – Claiming a Second Chance I think back to the time Ariven and I got drunk as his lips continue to move against mine and small moans escape us. We were having a heart to heart as I explain my rejection, how I couldn’t wait for the bond with Mika and I to break to find my second chance. For Ariven, his mate was taken from him just after the two found out they were expecting their first pup. A jealous pack mate shot her with a silver bullet wanting Ariven for herself. He went mad, destroying that she-wolf in seconds before the devastating grief took hold of him. Turning away from the window as I wait for Albot’s return, I look to find my daughters playing with their dolls by the thrones, their white hair resembling mine while each sport one brown eye like their father and one prism eye like me. Walking towards the twins, I crouch down to look at Arora who asked the question, slowly playing with her hair. Depends on who is fit for it.” I answer, standing up straight and picking Arora up in my arms. “Being a ruler isn't just about pretty dresses and golden tiaras. In our case, silver tiaras. We have to be fair and just rulers to the many packs. We have to solve problems and disputes before a war can start." I answer, gently tickling her sides as she lets out a giggle. I smile at my four year old pup, placing a kiss on her forehead as she giggles some more. "I hear giggling." Albot's voice calls out, a squeal of sur

I groan, not wanting to be disturbed and feeling sore all over my body. Opening my eyes to see where the noise is coming from, I wince and quickly close them due to the bright light overhead. "Crystalline you're awake!" Albot's voice, although rough and hoars, fills my ears and a small smile plays at my lips. My mate is here, but he sounds tired. I feel his hand clasps mine and a kiss on my forehead leaving tingles where we touch. Definitely still my Mate. I try to say something, my mouth opening and closing but no sound comes out. My throat is sore and dry, as if I haven’t had a single drop of water in a long time. [Lights are too bright and I need a drink please.] I send to Albot through our link, squeezing his hand gently. Chapter 36 - A Date with Destiny I open my eyes to find myself in a room filled with books. Light filters in from above and I look to see an endless sky. Looking around confused, I wonder if my father sent my soul in the wrong place. "Sorry little wolf but I intervened for a moment." A childish voice has me turning to face a girl about fourteen years old as she carefully writes in an old leather bound book. Her hand flies over the pages, her face filled with focus on her task and I wait silently for her to be finished. With the slam of her book closing, I take a few steps forward. "Who are you?" I ask, watching the girl tentatively. Her violet eyes are soft and all knowing, as if this girl is someone who has lived many adventures. She stares at me with a serene smile, her little body slowly walking towards me until we are standing just a foot apart and she takes in my appearance from head to toe. "I'm gla

Chapter 35 – The Royal Family Bright light forces the darkness to fade and I find myself standing in the field of moon flowers I had just fought in. There is no signs of war before me and I wonder if what happened was a dream. “I see you are awake.” A voice I have longed to hear once more calls out. Turning around, I find my father leaning against a tree, his eyes filled with warmth. I rush to his side, my father pushing off from the tree to catch me in his arms as he hugs me tightly to him. The scent of the moon is on him and I smile, feeling the comforting embrace of a parent calm me. “You did good my pup. I am proud of you.” He whispers, stroking my hair. All I can do is nod, my voice constricted as I allow the tears to flow down my face. “Am I dead?” I finally am able to ask after some time has passed. “No. You are just in the in-between right now as your body heals. Now you have some people that want

Chapter 34 – Coro’s End The Trackers quickly descend from the trees surrounding the meadow, their agile bodies making quick work in slicing open their unsuspecting targes throat before they move on to the next. The hunters have paired up with a Royal Soldier, taking turns in attacking and defending the other as piles of dead Rogues fall to the ground. All around me are furs of various colours. At one point I caught sight of Amberle's fire coloured wolf and Dominic's ice coloured wolve rip apart a black Soulless before they disappear once again. I know my white fur is an easier target as I dodge and fight off multiple Soulless at a time. I find myself in an endless cycle of dodge, claw, bite, kill and retreat while leaving a trail of dead Soulless in my wake. My muzzle is now stained black by the foul blood of the decaying wolves but sadly I have grown used to the stench after an hour had passed in the battle. Witches began popping in and

Chapter 33 – The Final Battle The sounds of muffled footsteps behind me both in wolf and fur form reminds me that the final battle is only moments away. The sky is fading from the indigo of night to a darker blue with hues of red, purple and pinks on the horizon. [Remember to keep the link open to receive orders.] I hear Albot state through the open link, a resounding “Yes sir” from the hundreds of wolves joining us in this battle replying back. I smile, already seeing how great a King Albot makes. Once this war is over, I can plan his coronation and then together we can plan a wedding. It isn’t long until we make it to the meadow, the flower buds still closed waiting for the right time to bloom. I think back to the first time I met my father, watching the scene of my adoptive mother finding me in this verry field as well as the memories I have of the two of us running around and picking these flowers to decorate the palace halls. Now on the edge of the meadow, I can see Coro on

Chapter 32 – The Dawn of War Standing in the thrown room, a white suit with a white cape draped over my shoulders, I look outside the window as worry settles in. The stars are still out but as soon as the sun rises, all the moon flowers will bloom and the final battle in this war will begin. “You okay Darling?” Albot asks, walking forward with a mug of what smells like to be peppermint tea in his hand. I take it from him, thanking my mate before taking a sip of the much needed drink. “I’m nervous.” I sigh out, leaning into his touch as he wraps his arms around me. “I know. But we have been preparing for this moment Crystalline. We will win this.” Albot reassure me. Taking in his scent, I continue drinking the tea as we enjoy this final moment of calmness. Our scouts have already linked us that Coro is on the move, an army of Rogues and Soulless following behind him. It is only a matter of time before we have to leave and

Chapter 31 - A Sense of Normalcy Throwing Amberle over my shoulder, I smile triumphantly as the fiery haired she-wolf lets out a wince. For the past two days of training and meetings, she has teased me about Albot and our matting. How she expects to have her band of nieces and nephews grow soon after the war. This has just fueled me to want to kick her ass even more. “Geeze Crysta, go easy on me.” She groans out, pushing herself into a sitting position as she eyes me. “Are you going to stop teasing me?” I ask instead. “And ruin my fun, nope.” “Then I guess you are going to have to get used to finally having your ass on the ground all the time.” I shrug, getting a playful growl from the Alpha wolf in response. I roll my eyes, holding out my hand and helping Amberle to stand. Although I have been besting the she-wolf, I still sport a few scrapes and bruises myself from sparing with her. “So
