“I don’t ask for much, but that you would see me, for me, don’t pretend.”

Daisy’s POV

I did the one thing I knew was best, avoiding everything that sounded like Jade, Lyra or Astrid.

I know, such a coward’s move, but I called it survival instincts, and I wasn’t going to ever be ashamed of it.

When I heard the news of Jade’s punishment, I was a little apprehensive, Priya and Lucien thought it was the right action to take but I knew it was bad to poke a devil.

“How are you feeling now?” Miss Amy asked.

Lucien had gone as far as ensuring I wasn’t given chores to do for a period of time.

I spent most of my days, sleeping and staring longingly at the garden. I wanted to go in there and feel the soil in my finger tips. But I knew it was a bad idea, no matter how tempting it might sound.

“I’m better now Miss Amy, and I would love to resume work,” I replied, eager to be on my feet again.

Miss Amy smiled, her eyes crinkling in delight at the news “That’s good to hear,”
