Chapter 6 - Sleeping

My head was spinning and my body felt so numb that I could barely feel anything.

Everything was dark which put me in a confused state. I put my hands over my stomach. I couldn’t feel any bump or traces of my babies.

Every nerve in my body became alive after receiving an alert that my infants might be in deep danger. My eyes sprang open in response to that.

I was in a strange room, covered in a white cloth.The scents were so familiar but it was like I couldn’t place them.

The strength in me wasn’t there like it used to be, I was a strong wolf but now I couldn’t even move in this bed. I tried to lift my left arm.

Internal groans eluded from my head for I couldn't speak a word nor make any noise. I raised the other hand, slowly I started feeling myself then I lowered my arms back.

Then I waited a while, my body sent me signs to stand up which I obeyed immediately.

I heard voices around the room and cries of little infants. As their cries increased, my inner strength grew, I got down from the bed and shut my eyes, I could smell my kids and one more person.

They didn’t seem like they were close to each other, my kids were definitely near me, most likely in the next room and the other person who’s scent was faint was not in the room.

I dashed out of the room, ignoring the pain I felt in my belly and my back, my kids were lying close to each other. I carried the first one and strapped him on my back, then I carried the other one, then I strapped her to my chest with the wrappers that were lying by the baby's cot.

“You are awake?” A woman asked me as soon as I stepped out of the house. I had picked up her scent when I woke up and she had her smell over my kids.

Without giving her a response or thinking twice, I raced off into the woods. I lost track of time that I didn’t even realize that I was back at home, my own pack.

Standing in front of my fathers house, I was too frightened to go in, knocking on the door. I went to the back or the hose and crawled up the wall to get into my room.

The windows were open but the lights were off. The twins were strangely calm, I haven't breastfed them. I didn't know they got here, last thing I remembered they were barely a month old in my stomach, but right now I have two healthy babies strapped to my body.

My father didn’t fancy having guards like other elders in the pack because our bloodline was strong enough to protect ourselves. That didn’t mean that I could just walk in through the front door.

Any slight creak will wake my father up, he could also pick up my smell. The only way to not attract his attention is Just when I climbed in, A figure got up from my bed, “Sarah, is that you?”

It was my mom, I could tell how much she longed to see me from how hoarse her voice sounded.

“Mom!” I ran into her arms, tears ran down my eyes, I don’t think I have felt warm like this in ays.

“Where have you been?” She asked me. “I looked for you for the last eight months, I almost reached the rogues to look for you but you know if your father senses their smell around me, he would kill me.” my mom sobbed silently as she took my girl from my chest.

Then she laid her on the bed before she took the boy from back? Have they eaten? Have you eaten? You look so weak and I can barely feel your presence. I could only tell that you were around because I knew your climbing trials.”

My mom said.

I didn’t know how to feel or what to say. How can I tell her that I don’t remember how I lived for the past months? She might just pass out, I could also feel that her energy was weak.

It seemed like my father had been neglecting her. Their strengths were linked together since they were bonded as mates, if they weren’t mating enough, it would only make her weak.

“Try to shift so you can produce some milk to feed the twins, if they get too hungry they will start crying and we don't want their tears to wake your father up.”

“Do you think he will take me back?” I asked, I had nowhere to go if I got kicked out again. We both knew how stubborn my father is.

“Let your father be the least of your concern, you need to shift so you can produce enough milk for the twins.” my mom said.

I know she didn't want me to be bothered but I couldn't help it. She came closer to me. “Once they start crying, you might not even be able to spend a night in this town.”

“But..” I paused, and shut my eyes. I knew that I wasn't strong enough to shift, the moon is not even full so I had no chance from the moon goddess to revive myself at the moment.

“Haven’t you been able to shift back into a wolf? Did pregnancy take that away from you?” She asked worriedly.

I could not even answer her question, because I had no answer to it.

“you have to tell me, Sarah, so we can find a solution. these kids will start crying in any minute, trust me your father is going to wake up if he hears their cries." Just as my mom completed her statement,The twins started crying.

“Shit!” I cursed beneath my breath. I picked one of the twins up and my mom picked the other, while we were trying to pacify them, father burst into the room, “What the hell is going on here?” he growled.
