Alex's POV
“What guts have you to speak such filth in my presence, woman!?”, a murderous voice echoed across the hallway. Alex looked bemused.
“I speak no false, my Lord. Cursed be me if I tell a lie.”, a thin trembling feminine voice responded in the background.
Alex dispersed the large ocean-blue mist above him and almost burnt his finger. There was a bright colorful spark from the tip of his right hand. Thereafter, great darkness fell around him.
“Quiet!”, the thick voice echoed again.
Alex was distracted by the voices. It was impossible to continue his routine training as expected from the next heir. He knew his father to be stern and principled, but he had never witnessed such anger outburst from him—not in the Palace. He developed a pinch of uneasiness and
motioned towards the brightly lit hallway, away from the lawn, leading to the direction of the voices.
“Bring me Xander!”, Alex's eyes widened with an abrupt stop.
There was terror in his father's voice. He stood halfway from the end of the corridor that led to the scene. He couldn't avoid his father, but he also had no clue of what lay ahead. He had lived up to the standards of his father for twenty-five years and never has his father summoned him in such rage. His brows merged into a confused curve as he tried to predict the trouble that lurked ahead.
“Is there another war sizzling in town?” Alex thought.
The sight of an approaching guard distracted his thoughts. The guard bowed, but as he was about to speak, Alex raised his hand in dismissal,
“I heard. Never mind.”
He hastened his steps as the guard led the way into a large luxurious hall, brightened with golden chandeliers and light-emitting massive diamonds by the four corners of the great hall. The other guards stood heads down as Alex caught his father's gaze. The frequent red sparks in his father's eye was a giveaway sign of an impending danger. Alex swallowed hard, retaining a stern expression before speaking— he knew better than to fidget in his father's presence.
“You called for me, Father”, standing chest out with a tone of furnished dignity.
“What is this abomination I hear of You, son!?”, the Alpha turned towards him in a roar. “Have you no shame?!”
Alex grimaced in confusion as his father's words smacked his ears to deafness,
“I know nothing of such allegations, Father”, Alex paused before proceeding—in hopes of easing the tension, “Who angered the Alpha so much to speak wrongly of his beloved son?”
“Have you suddenly lost your voice? Speak!”, the Alpha thundered again, looking down, away from Alex.
Not until then did Alex realize the presence of a lady with cherry-red hair kneeling by the side of a tall guard. Alex looked in utter bewilderment at the figure as he heard the confession of the young lady before him.
“I-I carry your child Ale…My prince”, she corrected immediately, with a fallen gaze.
The Alpha made a sharp head turn towards him as though expecting an immediate reaction.
They both lock eyes before Alex found the courage to speak, casting a firm gaze back on the lady. He walked closer to her,
“What child do you speak of? What prove have you to utter such nonsense? Need I remind you of the consequences of your words?”, Alex reprimanded in a harsh but comported tone, hiding his fidgety palms in his loose leather drape.
The lady wore a stunned expression,
“Are you denying the bond we share? Have you forgotten so soon?”, she asked in disbelief.
Alex imagined his father's eyes lasering behind him. The room was dead silent at the words of a wretched-looking lady claiming to be abhorring a possible future heir to the throne. An abomination, with unforgivable consequences for whoever is found guilty among the royal blood— a sacred heritage kept for thousands of years since the conception of the Grey-Moon Pack.
Alex was taken aback. He remembered the night vividly. He always prided on his self-discipline but a stain was about to be spilled on his crystal-clear record.
Alex turned to his father, who frowned back at him, as though expecting a definite close of the drama.
“Father, I know nothing of this incidence. I’ve never met this woman. I would rather die than to stain the throne with an irreversible curse”, Alex spoke with convincing certainty as he approached his father. It seemed as though he was fully prepared.
The Alpha growled again,
“Such guts! Get her out of here! Out of the pack. You seize from being a member.”
“No! Please! Believe me. Alex…please…don’t do this to me”, she pleaded with intermittent sobs.
Alex, who was on the verge of leaving the scene was caught off-guard by her words. He fought the urge to respond in feigned anger, but his eyelids twitched uncontrollably, his iris had assumed a soft glow of red as he spoke —drawing closer to the lady and raising her chin upwards with a firm hold,
“Don't you dare call my name with such disdain”, he forcefully let go of his grip. His loins boiled in pain and grief as he let go of her chin. This was a woman he loved, unreasonably.
The lady trembled, as though she had seen a wild ghost. She succumbed to the pull on both sides, dragging her out of the palace. Alex watched as the back view of her red hair glowed from a distance, consumed by the darkness of the night. His sight was blocked by the Alpha's wrinkled face peering down in front of him. Alex caught a questioning look on the him, as though he was trying to detect a lie.
“Alexander Will Duke, are you sure, with utmost sincerity, that you tell the truth?”, the Alpha emphasized, without a blink. There was a quiet dread in the way he spoke.
Alex, folding his left palm and placing it firmly on his broad chest, responded as though taking a pledge,
“I, Prince Xander, the only Son of the greatest Duke of Region 22, affirm my innocence. I would never —not now — not in the future to come, dare soil our sacred name. I am aware of the deserved consequences and punishment for such act.”, Alex chanted the oath of Liberty.
The Alpha finally managed a smile and patted his shoulders with a firm grip.
“I trust You, son.
“What was the noise about?”, a British accent broke in.
Alex turned around to behold a dark-haired woman with blue iris, sleep-walking towards them— adjusting the belt of her loose pajamas around her waist. Alex squatted a little to give a warm hug.
“It's nothing, Mother. You should get back to bed”.
She turned to the Alpha with a demanding look,
“A cup of drama to end the night. Nothing overly unusual”, the Alpha responded in a monotone, giving Alex a grim glance before taking her hands as they both walked out of his sight.

The weight of the night laid heavily on Alex. All his attempt at wading the red-haired figure in his head seemed futile. He had told a grievous lie, painlessly. To cap it all, he caused so much pain for the only woman he ever felt a spark for. Twenty-five years of perfection, crumbling before his eyes with no remorse. His father's voice rang over and over in his mind, “consequences… irreversible curse” in loud bloody echoes.
Although their relationship ended the night Sherlyn heard of the coming marriage between him and a princess, he never thought she could be so courageous to face the Alpha, let alone break such news without his knowledge. He picked up his phone on the drawer to call, Charles, a childhood friend and head warrior.
“Shit!“ he exclaimed.
Sixteen missed calls from Sherlyn about four hours ago with messages that read;
“We need to talk?”
“please call me, it's urgent”
“Alex, I'm pregnant”
“I need your help”
Currently at Malibu's. Please call me”
“Fine. I'm coming over”
He threw the phone back on bed and stormed out of his room, picking up a car key on the drawer.
His personal guard, Harry, ran behind him as he approached the garage.
“Get back. It's a private business”, Alex yelled at him.
“But the Alpha…”
Alex interrupted him, wearing a cold look,
“Do I hear you question my orders, Harry?”
Harry bowed, taking few steps away as he drove alone, out of the Palace in a black car.
The streets were deserted. Alex drove in full speed as though he was about missing an important meeting. The thoughts of Sherlyn clouded his mind.
“How could I?”, he kept saying to himself—banging the steering wheel at intervals in a fist.
He glanced at the time. It was 10:06pm. It was over an hour since she was banished. She couldn't have gone too far. But, what if something had befallen her? What if he doesn’t find her? How would he ever forgive himself?, his thoughts haunted him. He came across few hunters, but none stopped him after recognizing his identity. He reduced the speed drastically when he drove past a large signboard that read “REGION 22” in neon letters. His headlight revealed inconsistent footprints on the wet ground ahead. He drove slowly. His eyes searching around the dark forest at both sides. It was a pitch-black darkness at the mercy of a dull crescent moon above. Suddenly, the back view of a slim figure came to light.
Alex's POV (...a narrow escape) She curved her hand in a bow, avoiding the intense ray from his headlights. Alex rushed out of the car without turning off the engine. The bitter wind blew hard, flapping the hem of his brown coat and ruffling his hair. He ran towards her after confirming her person, embracing her deeply into his broad chest. Her hair still retained the usual scent of lavender and chamomile as the very first night of their meeting. “I'm Sorry. I hate myself more than the hatred you feel towards me right now”, Alex broke into tears. “Get away from me!”, Sherlyn pulled away, hitting his chest. “Go on please. Hit me harder. Maybe it would quench the flame of guilt burning me alive.” Emotional vulnerability was something Alex never showed—he truly loved her and moving on had been a nightmare for him. “How does that bring back all I've lost?”, she demanded, seeming surprised by his sudden sappy demeanor, “How does that relief the pain of raising a child outside m
Alex's POV (...a surprise welcome) He parked the mini white car at the garage— one he purchased the previous night. Some guards stood alert at strategic corners of the palace, in their usual attire—khaki brown suit with a black garrison cap. The weather was fair, but a stale aura hung around the building. It was few minutes past one, everyone should be fast asleep, he thought. The guards bowed as he gained entrance into the great hall. It was large and empty, as Alex expected. He mounted up the stairway, motioning towards his furnished room, situated on the first floor. “My Prince”, a woman spoke from across kitchen. It was one of the woman servants. “May I prepare another meal? Your dinner was discarded two hours ago, since my Lord wasn't present.” “Life is more than food and delicacies, Margaret. Save yourself the stress”, Alex responded in a cold tone as he continued his way up. Truly, food was the least of his problems. Although, he had barely eaten anything the previous d
Alex's POV (...a princess from Spain) He scoffed angrily and took his seat. He still couldn't imagine beginning a life with another woman. Worst of it all—for the sake of benefits. “I don't care how much power you've acquired over the years. I remain the Alpha and you must respect that.”, the Alpha scolded. His mother wore a frown, “You don't think an apology is necessary?”, She demanded. “Sorry, Father”, Alex mumbled under his breath. “Oh! Here she comes”, the Alpha interjected, disregarding his apology. Alex reluctantly looked up at the object of admiration, but was stunned by her radiance. His lower jaw fell slightly open as she walked towards them. Boy! they nagged about a Princess but no one deemed it right to speak of her beauty. How negligent? he thought as he responded to his reflex by acknowledging her presence with a standing ovation, without an applause. She wore a purple sleeveless flower embroidery. A white glove concealed most part of her arms exposing only h
(…a nightmare)Sherlyn's POVIt was a tranquil night. The hot steam from the golden bathtub in which she sat, soothed her skin and made her nerves relaxed. She closed her eyes to relish the rosy scent of beautifully lit candles arranged around the edges of the tub and the floaty feel that engulfed her essense. She adjusted her depths into the bath, till the lather brushed the base of her chin, allowing most of her red hair to be submerged in the warmth. Suddenly, an urgent charge dropped in her mind link,“Wherever you're, leave. Right now”She flung her eyes open in terror.“Leave the premise”, the masculine voice urged again. It was her father. She got up immediately as she unwrapped the white towel around her head to cover her dripping nudity. Her father rarely used mind link to communicate except in times of unavoidable danger. She dashed to the front of the large mirror opposite the tub and dabbed her wet hair hastily with the hem of the towel.“Who are they? What's going on, Da
Sherlyn's POV(…a strange note)She opened her eyes to a medium-sized living room and the terrified face of Charlotte, who left her side immediately she woke up . She sat up on the sofa chair where she laid, panting heavily and looking around to be sure she was where she should be. For some minutes she was thankful it was just a dream, but the thought of coming back to the discomfort from her pregnant state and her memory loss, made her wish the dream continued and maybe ended her life.“Here. You'll feel better”, Charlotte handed her a white pill and a glass of water. She gulped down the pill, staring vaguely at the rugged floor and massaging her forehead.“Do you want to talk about it?“, Charlotte asked.Sherlyn, still staring into space replied, “I want to assume it was just a dream, but it seemed too real”, her voi
Alex’s POV (…a night before the wedding)"I’ll be there shortly. Make sure nothing bad happens to her. Do whatever it takes to keep her alive. I don’t care about the cost.”, he dropped the receiver in a hurry. He had spoken with the head chef, who picked Sherlyn’s call previously and warned her against answering his calls, in the future. Yet another call from Charlotte, but this time, he couldn’t ignore, unlike the last two times where she called about a strange dream and a threat note she received. She was in need of blood urgently and at the verge of loosing her life. None of the blood types in the blood bank was compatible with hers. He knew no family of hers while in the pack aside her foster aunt, but he hoped his blood would suffice, being a werewolf. Unfortunately for him, as he was about leaving, his father stood at the entrance of his room. He might have heard his conversation but he showed no expression. “Father?”, he said, stunned by his unexpected appearance.“Yes, Xand
(…painful resolve)Alex's POVAlex flinched due to reflex. “I didn’t mean to scare you”, the young man immediately apologized, adjusting a circular len closer to his eyes “Are you related to any Sherlyn Blake?”Alex, who was still trying to recover from the shock, examined the man in front of him, from his neatly dressed hair down to his white tracksuits, like one who just completed a workout session. “And you are?”, he asked in curiosity.“Just a new friend of hers,”, the lad went on.Alex watched his mannerisms closely. Sherlyn was 24 but the person claiming to be friends with her looked way younger. It was too early for her to start making friends, male friends at that, he thought. With jealousy stirring up inside him, he responded,“And what makes you think we’re related?”“I just felt to ask. My instincts are usually right most times”He marveled at his blabs--no doubts he looked nerdy.“When did you meet?”, he asked, trying to read his intentions and the validity of his claims
Alex's POV (…a threatening silence) For the very first time since the beginning of his mental breakdown, his wolf shuddered from within. The Luna's face expressed a mix of disappointment and amazement, with her eyebrows arched. She eyeballed him and the baby in Sherlyn's hand, as though attaching coherence to her perplexed state. “There's nothing reasonable you've to say. Stay quiet”, Alex wolf condemned. But, She's your mother. Be thankful she came alone.” The loneliness he felt was more than that of a lost child in a desserted island. She realesed her hold on the door, as she gained full entrance into the ward, still wearing an awestruck expression. His worst fear finally happened— caught in the act, no lie could save him this time. It seemed as though the silence in the room echoed louder than their thoughts, as the distant footsteps of other occupants of the building kept on filling the void. When she seemed convinced by what she hoped to be a dream, she commanded, “Let
A peaceful reign, a peaceful pack with the strongest of its kind. Meagan's father, Williams passed on happily after witnessing his daughter's ceremony. Congratulatory letters flew in daily from all parts of the region. The Alpha had gotten tired of reading through as she stumbled on a random note. “Congratulations Alpha. I'm glad you picked him over me but, I hope you don't regret your decisions soon. Cheers. Ray.”She smiled at the paper and squeezed it happily into the thrash. She had never regretted her decision. Her mate loved her even more than herself. “It still surprises me how you walked straight to me and said those words. I must have had a great resemblance with a simp. I couldn't hold back my tears,” Jason remarked as they held hands towards the pool. “I couldn't get over your mysterious eyes,”she replied with a chuckle. “What would have happened if I had rejected you instead?““I would be happy for you either ways. I didn't pass as the right mate for you after all my Fat
Meagan's POV(…the final battle)Larry continued to laugh hysterically until he emptied the keg. He climbed up the ladder as Meagan continued to hit her body against the glass until she transformed into her wolf form. “Rot in hades!“ Larry yelled from above the ladder as an lgnited lighter hit the ground. The fire traced the diesel so fast that the room was soon covered in a burning smoke. Meagan had mindlinked the pack and the warriors about Larry as she ordered for a rescue team. She kept on the attempt on the glass that was covered in flames as her body began to feel the intense heat. Her newly found father was lying helpless, holding on to his chest as he coughed vigorously. “The fire is alot. We can't get in, Alpha,” the leader of the rescue team mindlinked her as she hoped for the glass to give way to her hit. Finally, the glass began to crack as she increased her force. A massive fire extinguisher filled the room. The wolf that had come to their rescue joined in breaking down t
Meagan's POV(the first female Alpha)It was one night away from her enthronement. She had been receiving dignitaries from neighbouring packs as she helped in restoring their peace. Her life was more than perfect, or at least, better than what it used to be. She got an apartment for Ray pending the day of her enthronement as she thought to mark her mate the same night she became the Alpha.“We need to prepare the pyramid grounds and wash it clean. I will be away for a while, Alpha,” Larry announced to her one evening and left. She entered her room and prepared for a good rest. The thoughts of her enthronement has consumed her mind. What if she failed her mission? What If the moon goddess doesn't grant her the title? There was one person she could ring to feel better. She reached out for her phone and dialed Ray's number. They spoke for hours long until it encroached into her sleeping time. There was never a dull moment with Ray. A sharp movement from the outside of her windows distrac
Meagan's POV(…fated to two mates)She tried to retain her stern look but his sheepish look wasn't helping. How can she be heating for a monster like him? If you have nothing to say then, I'll pass my judgement” she announced again, in a bid to trigger a reaction but he kept on smiling at her as one who was at the verge of suffering a terrible mental relapse. “Don't kill him. Send him to the dungeon instead,” Arya remarked as she contemplated what verdict she was to pass. Trix had been away for a while, so Arya had been in control of her all along. She made up her mind and commanded, “Chain in down in the dungeons until he dies a natural death.“ The guards, whom she was yet to familiarize with, bowed before her and took out Xavier. She didn't know what to do with Jason yet, so she instructed him to be locked up with his father, until she had decided on what to do. “Congratulations, Meagan. Your mother must be beaming with pride from above,” Arya encouraged as she stared mistly at the
Jason's POV(…the last heir)“What do you think you're doing, son?“ the Alpha mindlinked him as they ceased normal communication. “Do you know how hard I've worked to get the throne? Do you know how powerful I've become amidst other neighboring packs? You must be out of your mind.““I'm out of my mind. I love her, father and I love you too. I can't leave anyone of you. It's the only way to avoid a heated war.““There would be no war if we kill her before her abilities return back and we both know it would be twice her previous power. It's a stupid idea to keep such a threat.““You asked for a mate—”The alpha interrupted, “Yes. I wanted a mate for you, not an Omega. This would never happen. I would rather die of my illness that watch her become the Alpha of the pack.““But, If she becomes my mate, we can both lead the pack. She would be a strong woman. Please, father. She has agreed. This is my one chance to lead a peaceful life like you always wanted. I'll never find a mate in anothe
Meagan's POV(…unexpected accomplice)“Who are you?“ Meagan asked, regretting why she was too weak to find out herself as the now human stranger refused to cease from patting her hair. “I wouldn't reveal my identity until you grant my request. You would want nothing from me if you ever find out but, my wish is that you don't see me as you used to.“Meagan was sure it wasn't Ray but it had a close resemblance to Larry's voice, only with a touch youthfulness and pain. “I'll tell a short story and therafter you can do whatever you want with me, and the baby. Shall I proceed?“Meagan, who knew her choices were limited, agreed, “Yes.““A girl child was raised by a single mother and grew up to hate males, after assuming all men were alike. She treated every man she knew with contempt until she met a man whom she loved so dearly. But, the man she loved was an enemy to her mother. But soon, she realized her mother was the enemy. Not to forget that this man was severely tortured by her mother
Meagan's POV(…under the full moon)“I've just two questions for you. Firstly, how did you find out about my weakness to human blood? Secondly, how did you find your way into my room that night? You've two minutes to respond,” Jason raged as red spark flew across his watery eyes Meagan was confused. She had no idea of what he accused her of. “Don't give me that innocent look. It's the same crime you're been punished for. I want to know the others involved. You couldn't have done it alone and I'll make sure everyone involved is brought to book. So, start talking.““I was never in your room and I know nothing of your weakness.”“The CCTV coverage found you on the corridor that night. It's pointless to lie to cover up for anyone or do you want to suffer alone? Speak!“Meagan realized she was framed for a different offense she never committed. “I didn't enter your room that night. It was the kitchen. I don't know anything about it.“Jason gave her a long stare as though realizing a conn
Meagan's POV (…childhood crush turns mate) He paused abruptly on hearing her voice. “How did you know that?“ “I had a best friend when I was in the human community. We attended the same school until…” Meagan's words turned into a bitter wail as she remembered how much she had suffered for years. “It's nothing. Life has never been fair to my family,” she concluded as she gulped down the few drops of water she had for the day. “Meagan?“ the man called out as he wore a confused look approaching her slowly. They both held their gaze on eachother as they realized the truth. “Is this really you?“ He squatted in front of her as they both gaped at each other. “How did you get here? How long have you worked with the Alpha?“ She asked as they collapsed into a hug. “Goodness! Meagan. It's hard to believe. You disappeared for a long time without notice only to find you in this condition? How did it happen?" "it's a long sad story, Ray. I don't wanna talk about it" "I can't watch you
Meagan's POV(…Trix reacts)She instinctively looked around her. Jason was truly nowhere to be found. How did the Alpha find out? she asked herself as she made sure there were no traces on the night of her escapade. At first, Meagan tried to comfort herself as she knew it had been impossible for the Alpha to terminate her life because of her powers which Larry attested to. “I kept you alive to breed my pack but you don't deserve to live. You're just like your kind. I should have known better then to keep you alive.“ “Are you just going to sit there without taking actions? If Jason is Ill then the potion Larry talked about is working,” Trix remarked violently as Meagan bowed still, dreading the Alpha's next move. “He can't hurt you, remember? This might be your only chance to get him out of the way and allow the kingdom bow to a new alpha. Do it, Meagan,” Trix ordered as she began to stir her up while the Alpha continued a show of emotional outburst. “Remember Larry said the action de
