Chapter 2 - DIVORCE

NATHALIE ANDEZA:

I could heard from where I stood how sweet they are while cuddling each other on the bed. The sight was breaking my heart.

The woman was none other than my bestfriend- Elaine.

This woman, she knows how frustrated and worried I was when I told her that Nigel might have woman outside. She even sympathize me and gave me a comforting words but its turns out..... She a viper! She's a leech! She just playing on me.

"Nigel, kiss me!" Elaine requested in coquettish look, then Nigel peck on her lips. My heart seemed to be stab by the knife and I seem to have forgotten to breathe, this made my chest hurts.

I saw Elaine pouted. "You don't love me anymore!"

Nigel took the soup from the table. "Don't make trouble, come on, eat your food." He gently coaxed her. This is the first time I saw this soft and gentle side from my husband.

"No!" Elaine pushed the soup away. What was this woman's problem? Didn't she know how lucky she was to be treated like this by my cold husband?

I saw how patient nigel was on Elaine, I couldn't even see any irritation and annoyance from him. If I were to do what she had done, Nigel would surely given me a glare and walk out.

My husband sighed. "Okay, what do you want?"

"I want to make out with you." Elaine, the snake answered. This made me to clenched my fist tightly.

Nigel put the soup down on the table. "Elaine, you know your health conditions, right? and it's not that good. I promise, once you get better, we will travel abroad and we will do whatever you want, okay? Now eat."

"Promise?" Elaine's eye's seems sparkling.

"Promise."

Elaine finally eat, she leaned ang hugging my husband's waist while nigel fed her spoon to spoon. She could even laughed although I don't know what was she laughed about.

With a broken heart, I was about to retreat, when I heard Elaine's question:

"Nigel, when will you make our relationship's official? I wanted to show to everyone how good and compatible couple we are, I wanted to show them how much we love each other."

Nigel's tone became somewhat solemn. "Elaine, you know our situation and you know that we're hiding. My dad will definitely disown me if he finds out, what worse, I could lose everything. Although my marriage with Nathalie was due to the both party's business benefits, but I still can't cheat on her."

"Are you just worrying about your dad when he found out? What about Nathalie, do you already developed feelings for her?"

I stiffened at the door. I admit that I was hoping but I was petrified at the same time. If he have feelings for me, he would never do this to me. And as I expected:

"No. I don't have feelings for her. Didn't I said I only love you, why are you asking these nonsense?"

Elaine chuckled and seemed to be contented. "Then that means, if I needed her heart to live one day, will you give it to me? Afterall, we found out that she's one of a right donor."

This made me felt cold all over, I didn't intend to listen anymore as the pain I felt in my heart worsen. I turned around to leave but I bumped into the doctor who walk towards my direction, he might be elaine's attending doctor. I heard him apologized but I felt as if I lose a strength to apologize back.

The rain outside was pouring but I let it wet me all over to hide my tears. This is too much of strike on me. The bestfriend whom I trusted the most that I treated like a sister, and my beloved husband I adore having a secret affair behind my back.

After a few months, after the incident, I developed depression. During those passed weeks, I just watch my husband as he come and forth from outside and at home. And in this passed few months, I can count on my fingers how many times he had stayed in our apartment. I stopped asking him about his affairs, I only talk to him whenever I called him to eat, whenever I have to tell him about the house affairs. I also memorized the time he visit Elaine at the hospital.

That's how our lives revolved lately. At night, as Nigel was often away, I cried all the sadness and disappointment I experiencing right now in my room. I don't know how long I will be in this situation and how long can I last.

THIRD POV:

With each passing day, Nathalie seemed to become a wilting plant. She became lifeless and pale. Her former cheerfulness has also disappeared and she seems to have aged for ten years. Elaine stopped visiting her because she felt the alienation of Nathalie towards her.

Nathalie didn't even visit her father in the hospital on this passed few months, but a good news reached to her; her father's treatment was successful and he is now recovering quickly. When Nathalie's father discharge from the hospital, they called her to celebrate.

"Hump! I thought you wouldn't come. I thought you were sad as dad could'nt continue donating his heart to your friend anymore." Nico abruptly said the moment he saw Nathalie.

"Brat, stop targeting your sister." Their mother lucilla said. "Come on nat, we miss–" lucilla stopped when she noticed her daughter's appearance. "Nat, how are you this passing days, are you okay?"

"Yes mom, I'm okay. How are you guys doing?"

After the celebrations, Nathalie's parents talk about her in secret. As a parents, they clearly saw that something really wrong with their daughter. With unsettled hearts, they called their in-laws, Nigel's parents.

On the other day, while Nathalie's doing a house chores, her phone rang. She nonchalantly answered it but was surprised when she heard her mother in law.

"Hello Nathalie, how are you? how are you and Nigel, are you busy?"

Nathalie answered all of her mother-in-law's inquiries politely, but she was wondering why they called. As far as she could remember, since she and Nigel got married, this was only the third time she had spoken to them. But she didn't expect a surprise:

"Nathalie, I'll let Nigel rest from his busy schedule at the company for a while. I'm sorry that he keeps losing time for you. I have prepared everything, you two go on vacation abroad, consider this as your honeymoon vacation. I'll notify Nigel about it." Nathalie's father in-law said.

The lifeless eyes of Nathalie finally flashed a glow. After a few months, she seems finally turned back to life. 'A vacation trip with Nigel.' She felt blissful and excited inside, she was looking forward on it.

Nigel accompanied Elaine shopping at that time when his phone suddenly rang. When he saw who's registered on it, his brows furrowed. He excused himself and left Elaine while she's choosing a dress on a row of rack. He went not far away and answered the call. "Dad."

Elaine was very unwilling when Nigel told her he had to go, she pouted and acted like a child. Because nigel was in a hurry as he needed to pack his luggage, he told Elaine that this is ordered by his dad and he have to obey it, or else, his position at the company will at stake, so he couldn't afford to anger him. But when Elaine learned that he will travel with Nathalie, she got angry and made a scene, she threw a tantrum.

Nigel felt embarrassed as the people who's passed by looking at them. He also felt worried for Elaine as she can't be agitate due to her condition. He coaxed her and handed her over to the driver and maid they were with to take her back.

At the apartment, after nigel's done packing and when he was about leave, Elaine's maid suddenly called. She said Elaine was sent to the hospital because of a sudden heart attack. Nigel dropped his bag.

Nathalie wanted to call Nigel but was hesitant. Only 40 Minutes left for their flight but the man hasn't show up. She was worried, afterall, this might be their first travel together.

40 minutes had passed but Nigel did not show up. Nathalie's tears fell, she sat in the lounge area while hugging her luggage. She knew it, the man isn't really reliable and all he does was hurting her feelings.

Although his father himself, who's Nigel scared the most, was the one who wanted them to travel together, the man had still managed to disobey him. Nathalie knows that he's with Elaine and was very unwilling to leave her. It just proves that he would really do anything for the woman. 'Nigel, when are you going to appreciate me, why are you hurting me?'

When it's getting dark. Nathalie left the airport and called Michelle, her other friend, to accompany her in a bar. She wanted to forget all the pain even this once.

At the hospital, Elaine hugged Nigel's waist while inhaling the man's scent. She's obviously flirting with him, but the man seemed to be a little anxious, afterall, he disobey the emperor.

"Elaine, do you feel better now? Can I–"

"No!" Elaine seemed like to throw a tantrum again. She held her chest. "My chest still felt uncomfortable, do you have a heart to leave me just to travel with Nathalie? Are you going to be heartless on me?"

Nigel returned at the apartment almost dawn with a tired face. He then notice that his wife hadn't return. He massage his forehead when he remembered that he stood up the poor woman and that she might wait for him at the airport. He thought: 'It's not like she's still waiting at the airport on this hour, right? How stupid that would be.'

He grabbed his phone to call and to know Nathalie's whereabouts, when it suddenly rang. When he saw who it was, Nigel turned pale. He had a number of miss calls from his father but he was busy taking care of Elaine so he couldn't answer. The father emperor seems to up until now just to speak with him. This time, Nigel know that he was doom.

"Bastard!" Nigel father's bellowed. "How could you!...... How could you!....." His father couldn't continue. He seemed to have difficultly as if he was going to have an attack anytime soon. On the other line, Nigel could heard his mother while calming and appeasing his father.

"How could I not be mad? This bastard seemed really wanted to drive me to death!..... Confess, do you have woman outside? because from how you neglecting your wife indicates that there really is!"

Nigel stiffened and couldn't answer.

Knowing his son, he know when he's lying and when is not. "Bastard! I knew it!..... Well listen. from now on, you are no longer the CEO of the company, I will also disown you! Let us see if your mistress won't leave you if you lose everything!" And the line was cut.

Nigel became frantic. He tried to reached out to his father but he was being blocked. Out of frustration, he throw his phone on the floor with full strength. The phone split open and immediately destroyed.

It's over, it's really over for him. His position in the company, the luxury and comfort of life he was used to, will it all be gone? What about his future? How could he give Elaine a good status someday? How about his promises to her? but his most concern is, will he just become an ordinary employee?

Nigel's face darkened, he only has one person to blame; Nathalie, it must be her. She probably found out about his relationships with Elaine and she tell it to his father.

Nathalie finally returned to the apartment. Although she drank, but she didn't let herself to get tipsy so she immediately noticed the man sitting on the dark at the sofa.

Nigel stood up. "You finally here, I'm waiting for you."

Nathalie was looking on her husband. She didn't seem to be affected that he stood her up again. "Do you need something?" She casually asked.

"There is.... let's divorce."
