Elias POV

It's been several hours since the readings of Maxwell's father's journaling, and I can still feel the pain in Chilli's heart like it is my own. I watch her as Erin goes on about something to us all in this private guest sitting room in the guest wing. It's refreshing to have some time just the four of us and not have to put on a show or pretend to be okay around others. All through dinner she put on a brave face to hide her heartache and numbness as she played with her food, just moving it around on her plate.
