'Crash' Frederick, Mark's cousin and rival, smashed his wine cup on the wall as he read the reports provided by his spies under Mark.
He glared at the beautiful lady who had come to deliver the report to him.
"Why are you just telling me this?" He gritted out. "Why didn't you include the information of the person who sold him the programme? Didn't you think it would be important to get me such crucial data?" He added feeling his fury burn through his blood. He had once again been bested by his younger cousin.
"Young master Frederick, we had no way of knowing about the arrangement as it was not discussed with the board of directors. We were only informed about their team's plan of making the chips and we sent it to you as soon as we heard about it," Tina, the beautiful petite lady explained.
"What do you mean that it was not discussed with the board of directors? How was he able to fund the project without the financial approval of the financial department?" Frederick questioned.
"The project was sponsored from his savings and after it was proven successful the finance department paid him back. We tried getting in touch with you immediately after it was discovered but you were unavailable and given that the programme he bought was ready-made and easy to use we had no way of stalling for you," Tina explained helplessly.
She is the lowest ranked member amongst the spies Frederick planted beside Mark as she is just a sales representative, she only follows orders from higher-ups and has no way of knowing how the decision-making goes between the higher-ups, but when cases like this happens, she is the one that is always pushed to the forefront to face Frederick's fury.
"What stage are they on now?" Frederick asked after calming his nerves and anger a bit. Mark has always been pushing him to the edge since they were kids.
Everyone had always praised Mark for his intelligence and foresight, while they told him to learn from his younger cousin. Even then, no matter how he tried using the normal means or the underhanded means, he could never seem to beat Mark. The younger man always finds ways to spring back up after every huge fall.
"The program has been used in the new phone project that Alpha is working on and it's in the last phase of production. After they were boycotted with the chip and property, President Mark decided to put his focus on phone production. The programme just happened to come right in time," Tina explained.
"Do we have anyone on his programming team?" Frederick questioned as he read the reports once again.
'There is no way he could beat this in a short amount of time,' he thought to himself. 'But we can stall him until we have something that we can use to beat him.'
"His team was personally selected by him and there are none of our men in his team."
"Tell Ian to find a way and have someone from our side on his team, I want the programme mailed to me before the product is sold to the market, if it can't be mailed out, find a way to stall them, whatever means necessary stall them until after I get the real estate project," Frederick instructed.
'I can't allow him to be in the limelight once again!'
"Yes sir," Tina replied and prepared to leave.
"One more thing, find out who the programmer is and get me their contact!"
"We will, Sir."
Frederick reclined into his chair with an ugly frown, he massaged his nose bridge in frustration as he thought about his recent failed project and how unsatisfied with him their grandfather had been.
"Who would have thought trying to sabotage his works would lead him to another achievement," he groaned.

"Congratulations on your new project son," Michael Watson, Mark's father, beamed excitedly as he cheered Mark.
Ethan and Frederick's faces turned sore at the mention of Mark's project and they silently glared at the father-and-son duo.
Ethan is Michael's older brother and the former president of the Alpha company, but according to tradition, once the younger generation of heirs come of age, the older ones would step down to allow the younger ones to grow.
Naturally, Frederick was supposed to take over from his father as the next president of Alpha Tech, but due to Mark's intelligence and innovations, he was sent to manage another business while the Alpha company, which is the biggest sector of Watson's group, was given to Mark.
Grandpa Watson had called a celebration dinner to commemorate the release of the new project immediately after it was announced to the public, which is why they all gathered at the Watson family villa and while the ladies were busy with fossils the men were discussing business.
"Yeah, I don't think I've congratulated nephew Mark for his new achievement and because of your dedication, Alpha Tech company has reached another height this year," Ethan praised with a practise fake smile.
Frederick scoffed silently while stuffing his mouth with more food so he wouldn't have to say the congratulatory message.
"You flatter me, Uncle Ethan, I didn't do it alone and honestly if the firewall wasn't broken into, I wouldn't have been able to attain such achievement so soon," Mark replied politely but the father and son duo didn't miss the ridicule behind his words.
"I heard you employed an external person to help with the new programme, I'm surprised you would seek a foreign market after preaching against it for so long," Frederick probed, trying to get the identity of the programmer.
Mark was also aware of his aim and decided to humour him, "It is indeed unreasonable of me, but I was too eager to get my new project running that I didn't think about my formal words, but the success has shown I didn't make a mistake in my decision to employ from the foreign market." Frederick sneered and cursed in his heart as he noticed Mark's smug smile.
"Did you at least recruit that programmer to work in Alpha tech?" Grandpa Watson chipped in, his gaze focused on Mark.
"I tried to but they wouldn't budge," Mark replied and the old man frowned.
"Was the salary and bonuses you offered not enough? Why didn't you add more? Where are they currently working? We can offer double the pay they are getting," The old man questioned.
"Our meeting was brief that day and they preferred their identity hidden as the payment was done through the hacker's website, so there was no way I could do a background check on them," Mark explained.
"You could have had them followed," Ethan suggested.
"That's an invasion of privacy and if they find out, it would reduce our chances of working with them in the future. Besides, you should know that someone of that level could not be offended easily," Micheal countered.
"It's good you didn't have them followed, it shows that you respect their choices." Grandpa Watson nods in approval. "However, on your next meeting, do whatever it takes to bring them to join Watson, someone like them should only work for us."
"Yes Grandpa, I will work towards it," Mark replied with a bow.
"Good! Good! You always make me proud!" Grandpa Watson laughed before turning to Frederick with a serious expression.
"Chairman Nelson told me you were the one in charge of acquiring the Red Land real estate project, how is it going?" He asked as he gestured for the maids to bring him tea.
"We only have one competitor left at the moment and they are the state representative, the final decision about who will get the project will be made during the fundraising gala next week," Frederick reported calmly.
He had been putting all his resources and attention into acquiring the real estate project so that he could make up for the losses he had made these last months. He couldn't afford to lose not after Mark's groundbreaking achievement this time, losing again would not only annoy their grandfather but those boards of directors would never let him off too.
They were all aware that the old man was quietly watching their performance so he could choose his successor, which is why they were all on edge and doing their best.
"I heard the project is worth hundreds of millions, so make sure you don't lose it to the state. You can discuss it with your cousin and see where you could make some improvement," Grandpa Watson advised and Frederick clenched his fist in annoyance.
There it was again, the subtle comparison he had always hated, he presented to drink and silent glare at Mark with malice.
'You can remain smug for now but let's see how long you will remain smug when your project comes crashing down!'
"Mum! Dad! I'm home!" Lily announced upon getting home. She carried the grocery bags into the kitchen where her mother was busy making dinner. "Where did you go? Why didn't you call and have someone escort you when you were going out? What if something had happened on the way? You aren't strong enough to walk about on your own!" Her mother reprimands her worriedly. She moved away from the stove and checked Lily all over, Lily blushed and reassured her that she was fine."See, I'm fine and fit to go out now. I didn't even get scratched while I was outside!" Her mother glared at her playfully and went back to cooking. She turned her attention to the heavy grocery bags Lily had brought in and raised a questioning brow, "What are those and where did you get the money?""I went out to get groceries, I worked for a company online and I got paid," Lily replied, half-telling lies and half-truths. "Online? I hope it's not some shady business. I heard some youths are going to jail lately afte
As Lily and her family returned home, Lily's mother stopped Lily to sit in the living room so that they could have a discussion."Are you sure you want to go back to school?" She asked worriedly, keeping her eyes on Lily's every reaction. "Yes, I have decided to go back now, I'm no longer taking a break for a year." Lily assured her with a firm smile. Lily's mother looked hesitant, glancing over at her husband who sat beside her. The two of them were well aware of how Lily was being treated at school, especially how Merissa was always using her to stay at the top of their class. It was clear that something needed to be done, but they didn't want to upset their daughter by intervening or even their bosses. Although she had initially been against Lily taking a break from school, after thinking about how the competition and Lily being back in school would benefit the wrong people, she had agreed to it without another argument and she even convinced her husband to do so. But now that L
{You are more vicious than I thought.}Lily heard the system exclaim as she exited the chat with Sunset and she chuckled. "If you aren't vicious with your enemies, you will end up like my past self, dead without a way to vent," she explained with a gleam in her eyes making the system roll its invisible eyes. {You know he would make you take the blame if anything goes wrong and you still did that? How would you wash your hands clean? What is your plan to deal with him?}"Just wait and see. The testing day for such a program is three days and after that, it could be considered well-made, by that time, he would have already been promoted and the higher-ups would already know that he took that job!" She explained with an excited giggle. "Plus, I erased my involvement just now and nothing could be traced back to me, so he naturally would be blamed, after that, he would be demoted back to stage one but then I can't let him go. I want him to be kicked out completely so I will instigate th
Hellen pursed her lips at the beeping sound from the other end, she reluctantly removed the phone from her ears with a bewildered expression. "What does she mean stain her reputation?" She muttered in confusion. She had just gotten off the plane and had not been able to log into her social media account but as she thought about Merissa's words, she knew something was off. Upon logging in, she was stunned at the several notifications of people tagging her, before she could read them, her driver arrived alongside her manager, Rex, who looked worried and suspicious. "You should log off your social media account for a while, things are not looking good for you at the moment," he warned as they got into the car.Hellen frowned, "What do you mean? I've been away for a long time to a place without internet and now that I'm back, I can't even log in. Why aren't things looking good?" She asked with a raised voice and the manager glared at her.He had been so stressed dealing with her scand
Mr. Hudson rushed into the house, his face clouded with gloom and anger. He had just received a phone call from the company, informing him of a drastic fall in the company's stock followed by the news of his second daughter's scandal, which had been the cause of the fall in their stock price. As he noticed Hellen standing like an aggrieved child his anger flared up. "You!" he yelled angrily, feeling disheartened by her constant problem-causing attitude. It wasn't long ago that he had dealt with a minor scandal that had to do with her and now he is faced with another major one. Looking at the mother and daughter who had brought him nothing but problems since they came into his house, he couldn't help but regret his actions from years ago.His eyes flickered to Molly who was standing silently on the side and his heart ached. 'How was I too blind to always pick Hellen over Molly?' he thought to himself and turned back to Hellen, whose face had darkened after noting the gentle eyes
"Why do you always give me tasks at the most inconvenient time?" Lily asked with a glare as she heard the system's words.{I'm helping you! Miss Alana is a talented seamstress, she was born into a family whose main source of income is clothing. Their family is known for their exquisite hand sewing and they are considered one of the best in the market. But she is being suppressed and made to do small jobs so that she won't overshadow the daughter from the main family branch!} Lily let out a sigh, "Poor people truly have it hard, but I don't want to get involved in family politics, won't I be suppressed by her family if they knew I'm paving the way for the unwanted daughter?" She asked with a frown.Of course, she is no Mother Teresa who goes around helping people who are in need. Whatever help she renders has to have a much greater profit than the risk and from the look of things, saving Alana has more risk at this stage. "I don't have the power to go against her family yet and I am
"I hate it whenever she comes to our store to buy fabrics, she's always trying to find trouble with me," Alana groaned with a pout, making Lily chuckle at her cuteness. Realising what she had said, Alana covered her mouth and gave Lily an apologetic look."I don't mean to say bad things about your friend," she apologised and Lily waved her off. "She's not my friend, she's a classmate that I don't have a choice but to mingle with," Lily explained with a frown. "Oh, is that so? You must be careful with her, she always looks down on people with lower status than she is! Hmph! I would have had it worse if she had come with her friends today, bunches of unreasonable ladies!" She cussed."I will be careful. Anyway, I need your help with something," Lily said with a serious tone. "What is it you want? I will help you as best as I can!" Alana guaranteed with her hands placed on her chest proudly."I want you to work with me in my new company as a seamstress," Lily offered expectantly. He
Mr Hudson's face turned purple in anger and frustration, he was still looking for ways to resolve the online conflict about his unruly second daughter when another set of news about the same daughter spread all through the news. "Answer me! What does this mean?" He demanded angrily as he shoved the newspaper containing the news about Hellen's biological father into Mrs Hudson's face."What are you talking about? It's just a rumour, can't you see someone is targeting our daughter, Are you saying we aren't good enough for you? Would you rather have your dead wife and good daughter? Let me tell you I'm not going anywhere!" Mrs Hudson yelled, her heart racing anxiously. She had been so shocked about the issue and before she recovered from the shock and found ways to deal with the news, Mr Hudson had already come to her demanding an explanation. She decided to muddle around it and pretend she doesn't know anything, if not, she and her daughter would lose everything they've worked for ove
"What brings you here?" Frederick asked as Mark casually walked into his office. "What do you think?" Mark replied with a smirk. "I don't believe we are close enough for me to just stop by for a greeting, are we?" He added and took a seat opposite Frederick. Frederick glared at Mark, hating how the latter was talking to him so casually. Swallowing his anger, he relaxed into his seat and raised a brow. "I don't remember having an appointment with you. So it will save us both some time if you go straight to the point; we are both busy men after all." Mark hummed and brought out a flash drive from his inner pocket. "We did have an appointment, but I guess your subordinates are incompetent; they couldn't even inform you about such things. Anyways, I'm here to talk about the collaboration for the government project." He announced."As much as I would like to handle both the construction and security system installation, I do not have the time to do it now that I have another branch to
"Marry me, and we can use your family's influence to pressure him out," he offered. "In the end, you'll get what you want while I also get mine." Roseline paused, her eyes narrowing the longer she heard Frederick talk. By the end of his speech, she burst out laughing uncontrollably, making Frederick's eye twitch in annoyance. "What's so funny?" He gritted out as she forced herself to sober up from her hysterical laughter."Oh, it's not funny," she replied coldly. "I'm just laughing at the absurdity of the proposal you just made. "I may not want to get married to those old fools, but I'm not desperate enough to settle for you, Frederick." She announced.Frederick balled his hands against the table, his eyes twitching uncontrollably while his lips curled into a sneer at the insult thrown his way. "You are saying I'm comparable to those men with one leg in the grave; how remarkable, Miss Anderson," he snarled, and Roseline shrugged."You are free to interpret my words anyhow you want,
"What's wrong with you?" Frederick asked with a frown as Roseline stormed into his office with a flushed face, slamming the door behind her without a care.Roseline, not saying a thing in reply to his question, dropped her bag and walked towards his wine shelf to serve herself a drink. "I'm glad you are comfortable enough to waltz around here like you own the place," Frederick hissed, his tone full of sarcasm and annoyance."They spent last night together," Roseline gritted out after downing the whole glass of wine. Reaching to serve herself another glass, she decided against it and took the whole bottle with her as she sat on the couch opposite Frederick's working area."You are talking about Mark and Lily, right?" Frederick asked with raised brows as he relaxed into his chair, and Roseline nodded in reply before taking a big gulp of wine. She scowled as the pictures she had received resurfaced in her mind. "Mark hasn't slept outside his home, not even at his parent's since he move
"Hey," Lily waved shyly as Mark's car came to a stop in front of her studio. Mark smiled and got down from the car, dressed in a casual black dress shirt and pants. He reached into the back seat of his car and brought out a bouquet and a box of sweets. Mark approached Lily with a bright smile, his eyes warm and inviting as he took in the sight of her."Hey there," he greeted her, his voice smooth and comforting. "You look lovely tonight."Lily blushed, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink as she accepted the bouquet and the box of sweets. "Thank you," she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of nervousness as she took a sniff of the flower. "These are beautiful." She compliments."Not as beautiful as you," Mark replied, his tone sincere. "I thought we could start the evening with a little sweetness."Lily smiled, her eyes bright with excitement as she opened the box of sweets, the tantalising aroma wafting between them. "This is perfect," she murmured, selecting a delicate choco
Lily let out a groan as she read the reminder from Dark Star about his last work. Somehow, she had pushed the work out of her mind almost immediately after she had gotten it.However, having been reminded of it, she read through their chat again to refresh her memories of the job description."Investigate a hacker… ok?" She muttered to herself as she continued to read. "I still don't understand why I'm the one who wants to do such a simple job but anything for the money... and the opportunity to screw them over, I guess?"Without wasting time, she logs into the Hamilton's company security system, navigating through the angles and corners, trying to find the traces of the hacker and what they had done or undone."It's pretty easy to break in though," she commented with a frown. "How long ago have they updated the security system around their database?"Lily's fingers danced across the keyboard as she delved deeper into Hamilton's security system. The ease with which she navigated the n
"It's been a while since I've been here, and the atmosphere looks even more busy than the last time," Lily noted as she walked into Mr. Wallace's office. Her brow shot up in surprise as she took in the huge stack of files on his table and how overworked he appeared to be with his tired eyes and hug under-eye bags. "Please tell me you get a few days off in a week," she voiced worriedly and took her seat in front of him."Well, I'm supposed to, but I've not been able to do so these few weeks," Mr. Wallace replied. "On the brighter side, I've learnt to stay hydrated with water instead of other sugary drinks." He added, making Lily worry even more."Okay! Okay! You can pack up and leave now. You'll resume three days later," she encouraged hastily. "I will not have my employees overwork to this extent. You look like a homeless madman despite the expensive suit you are wearing!""I'm fine, I promise," Mr. Wallace sighed. "Let's discuss why I've called you here today, and then maybe I can t
"What was that stupid stunt you pulled the other night?" Frederick demanded, his tone cold and filled with anger as he walked into the private booth to see Roseline already waiting for him.Roseline frowned as she adjusted her jacket while crossing her legs over the other. "I don't understand what you are talking about," she huffed, and Frederick glared at her impatiently."Why would you go confront Lily like that?! You didn't just trash her studio; you even had the boldness to meet up and try to frame her?!" Frederick exclaimed. "How could you do something like that?!"Roseline's eyes narrowed as she met Frederick's furious gaze. Her voice remained calm yet held an edge of defiance as she responded, "Are you on her side?" She asked."I'm on your side!" Frederick grunted out. "You went behind me to do all those things. You think she's just some nobody you can bully around?""She's just a start-up fashion designer; what's there to be upset about?" Roseline huffed in annoyance, hating
"Hey," Mark greeted as Lily pulled open her door the following morning to see him standing with a basket of what seemed to be like breakfast and a bouquet of white and pink roses with other mixtures of flowers in it.A small smile appeared on her lips, reflecting how warm she was feeling on the inside as she realised the effort he had put into making such a romantic gesture."Good morning, Mark," she greeted, stepping aside to allow him entry into her apartment. "This is quite the surprise."Mark returned her smile, a hint of nervousness in his expression as he stepped into the apartment. He looked at the place, liking how simple but cosy it felt. "I just wanted to apologise for last night." He started "Mr. Roux was right; if I had dealt with the situation earlier, you wouldn't have had such an encounter with Roseline. I'm sorry," he apologised.Lily let out a small chuckle as she led him to the dining area. She gestured for him to sit while she brought out plates for breakfast. "Th
Lily waved the two good night, knowing full well tonight's scene would be all over the media by the time she woke up the following day.Letting out a sigh, she closed the door behind her and groaned, "I've appeared in the media this year more than I did all through my life as Victoria.""Of course, there is always a reference when you've already reached the top and when you are just coming up," Bryan replied and started the car. "I got your message.""I thought you said you were out of the country; how come you are here tonight?" They said at the same time, followed by a moment of silence to allow each other to talk before continuing."Father called me home," Bryan provided. "It wasn't something much so I didn't have to stay longer than necessary. So what's that about your message?" He urged impatiently."Well, I have built that lock system you sent in a virtual space. Most things went smoothly, but something is still missing, and I might need to see the real thing for myself to know
