~ ELENA’S POV ~
I sat on the edge of the bed, my heart racing as doctor Tancredi walked bask to me. The walls of the room felt like they were closing around me, a mix of emotions coursing through my veins. I couldn’t quite place my hand on what to call it.
Hope, fear or disbelief?
She handed the result to me again with a smile on her face. “It came out as earlier. You’re pregnant Luna,” the doctor confirmed.
The words hit me like a bolt of lightening. Pregnant? But how? My mind raced as I tried to recall the last one I was intimate with Vernon. It turned out to be the same period of time.
Almost three weeks ago Vernon returned from his normal woods wandering late at night. He was different that particular night. He wanted me like he’d always wanted me when our love was still fresh. We got intimate. And after that day, he returned to his cold, distant self.
I snapped out of my thoughts and turned to the doctor. “Are you certain? Have you urm…confirmed you made no omission or you know…”
The doctors gave me a reassuring nod.
“The result is clean and accurate, Luna,” she interrupted me, her voice soft and a smile beaming on her face. My have rested protectively on my stomach as I stood up. I smiled, delving back into my thoughts.
“With this now, you’ll have to me more careful with what you consume and regulate your stress. Pregnancy comes with…” then doctor went on and on. I was barely listening to her.
My mind was spinning with possibilities. Could this be it? All I needed to restore all I had lost?
My inability to conceive was one of the tags that labeled me as a weak wolf. It was what made me lose my title and my mate.
Now this was here, the news of pregnancy, I could get all. But what if I am too late? What if Vernon is already lost in Viola’s clutches? How would he react hearing about my pregnancy?
Either way, I knew I had to tell him. I was ready to fight for my love.
The door to my room creaked open and I saw Viola standing by the post. Her eye widened with a smile with a smile which never got to her eyes.
“Elena, sister,” she called with surprise and excitement. “We’ve all been searching for you. Are you alrifh?” She asked as she walked into my room. Her purple eyes flicked from me to the doctor, then back to me.
I gave doctor Tancredi a sign to leave, then forced a smile, just like Viola did. “I am fine, Viola. Why’s everyone worried? Aren’t you the Luna now?” I responded, instinctively taking my hands off my stomach.
Viola couldn’t know. I couldn’t give her a reason to suspect that I was pregnant. Vernon has to hear of it first. I wouldn’t let Viola manipulate the news just like she manipulated Vernon into her venomous webs of love.
“You know you can talk to me right? You look pale. And unwell,” she leaned closer with a tone of concern. Her drama wasn’t going to last long. She didn’t have that oaruebxe to pretend for long. “Doctor Tancredi,” Viola halted the doctor.
My heart skipped a beat as my face shifted to the doctor.
“What’s wrong with my sister? She doesn’t look good,” Viola questioned, turning to the doctor. Tancredi’s eyes flicked from Viola to me, and I gave her a quiet disapproval.
“The Luna is…Elena is fine. She’s strong and doing well. I just stopped by for her regular check up,” Doctor tanctedi answered. I let out a sigh of relief before Viola turned back to me. She inched closer and stroke the strand of hair on my forehead.
“Good,” she said. “You have to be strong for the changes coming. Vernon is moving me into the grand chambers tonight. I came to kindly ask that you have your things moved or have them thrown,” she dropped.
My heart fumbled in my chest. What? I could hardly believe her words. I knew her influence on Vernon would grow. But I never expected it to get to the point of sending me out of the matrimonial room. It felt like a humiliating blow. Like the final straw.
I saw the grin on my sister’s face as I fought with coming to terms of her need to me in my head. She rested a hand on my shoulder and snuggled.
“Ohh don’t feel bad sister,” she pressed. “I’m sure you’ll be comfortable in my room. After all you wouldn’t be needing much space. The grand chambers has a cradle…something you’ll never be in need of because…”
I took her hands off me and pushed her away. Her laughter filled the air while I stood there, digging my nails into my palms to hold back my anger. “Take a chill pill, sister. Vernon’s priorities has changed. You should move on now. Is that so difficult?”
My control slipped away and I charged at her. I grasped her arm and pulled her aggressively closer to me. “You’re a monster, Viola. And I regret ever having you as a sister!” I cursed. Viola grasped my throat and her claws snapped out.
Her smile faltered and her sweetness was replaced with an angry ragged breathing. I knew she couldn’t pretend for too long. I grabbed her wrist with both hands as I struggled with her palm whose grip was tightening with every passing second.
“Do you think you can stop this? Do you think you can stop me from being with Vernon? Huh? You’re a failure! You don’t even have a wolf! And Trudy me, not even that little thing growing in your womb can stop me!” She growled.
My eyes widened in shock. She knew. How? An evil one sided smile crossed Viola’s lips as she began pushing me to the wall.
“How?” I breathed with difficulty.
“Ohh Elena. Don’t tell me you’re dumb too,” her claws traveled to my neck. I felt it piercing my skin when the door flung open. Viola threw herself to the floor immediately and started sobbing loudly.
It was Vernon. His expression was cold and mixed with worry. He hurried to Viola who was on the floor.
“Don’t believe her Vernon. It’s an act,” I defended myself. Vernon’s emerald eyes shot a cold stare at me as he picked crying Viola from the floor.
“When did you become this wicked and jealous, Elena?” Vernon asked, carrying her bridal style.
“She’s pretending. She attacked me. Why won’t you believe me?” I broke down, massaging my throat.
“Enough,” his ordered. His voice was cold but not unkind.
“She attacked our baby,” Viola whimpered in his hands.
“I’ll deal with this once I return,” Vernon said. My heart shattered to pieces as I watched him carry her out of the room. My knees went jelly and I fell to the ground. I knelt there, weeping for minutes.
I placed my hand protectively over my stomach when Viola’s voice echoed in my head.
“Not even that little thing growing inside your womb can stop me,”
It sounded more like a threat now. I sprung to my feet, coming to terms the fact that I had to tell Vernon. I had to take my chances. As I made my way to the door, it flung open and Doctor Tancredi ran in.
“Doctor,”
“Luna, I need to get you to safety,” she grabbed my hand and her medical kit as she led me out of the room.
“Safety? What’s going on?” I asked. My question got an answer the moment we steppped into the hallway and I could hear and see the chaos.
The pack was under an attack.

~ ELENA’S POV ~I ran through the chaos in the courtyard, my heart racing with fear. The once silent and peaceful night was now in disarray, screams of anguish and pain coming from all sides. The night was lit with fire burning down houses and werewolves. The scent of blood hung thick in the air, deepening the sense of dread which filled the atmosphere. I placed my hand on my stomach, desperate to find Vernon. He needs to know about the child before something bad happens. I could feel it in my guts that this night was going to go down a bad lane. The doctor and I burst out in the garden which was already set ablaze. The sharp clang of swords of the warriors rang in the air, sending cold chills down my spine. As we made a turn for the green house just outside the gates of the garden, I saw Vernon. I froze dead in my tracks as I saw him fighting off the Lycans who charged at him. It wasn’t his loyalty to the pack that made my blood run cold.It was the way he shielded Viola. His body s
~ELENA’S POV~ Did he just say mate? The shock of his touch sent a jolt down my spine. I wanted to push him away, yell at him and remind him of how he killed me in the woods, leaving me to rot in cold blood. But the confusion whirling in my head wasn’t settled yet. He pulled away, cleaning his tears immediately. It was almost as if he’d forgotten that we weren’t alone and that awareness just returned to him. “ I…I didn’t want to believe it when I was informed of your…” his sheds hung in the air.I saw the difficulty as he fought with his words. His wrist only grasped my arm tighter, like he was now glued to me. “When I was told you were murdered. I thought I would never get to see you again,” he completed. I couldn’t believe my ears. This was the same man who murdered me in cold blood. The same beast who slit my throat and left me for dead. His eyes this time weren’t as dark and cold as they were in the forest last night. Instead, there was a glint of emotion. Relief, Love, Surpr
~ ELENA’S POV ~Was Rhoda pregnant? I thought. I waited for Lisa to confirm that the door was locked before making her way back to me. I sat, ready to listen to all she had to say. Maybe if I needed answers, Lisa was just the right person to begin with. I tried to steady my composure as she approached. Her smile softened as if she had just given me the news of a lifetime. Inside, my mind raced. What other news was waiting for me ahead? She sat by my side, and I saw her hands fidgeting as it clutched the hem of her dress. She was nervous. “I suspected foul play after I was sent out of the room when you went into labor,” she started, drawing my interest in.“I refused to leave completely. When I couldn’t hear your voice again, or that of a child, I knew something was wrong. The mid-wives all left your room and I came in. I wasn’t able to… to save you. But I saved the baby,” she narrated.I swallowed hard. She’d left me speechless. I searched my mind for the perfect reply, but non was
~ ELENA’S POV ~“I…” that was the only word I could think of. A million thoughts raced through my mind. What was going to tell him? I buried my face, my hand caressing my neck, feeling for the place where the birthmark was supposed to be. The air around us thickened, and his expression went from one of concern to that of suspicion. “The birthmark,” I muttered, lifting my face and looking back into his ash eyes. “ Must have been taken away by the moon goddess. Maybe it was her way of cleansing me to bring me back,” I responded, hoping he would buy it.And he did. His brows dropped and he reached for my hand again. “My bad. I should have thought about that too,” he apologized.“It’s fine Garrison. I understand,” I responded, feeling the rate of my heart dropping to normal. Another minute of safety earned. I just had to keep up with it for as long as I could. And always think smart and fast. Garrison stood up, taking my hand and helping me to my feet. “Come, the hall is full of people
~ ELENA’S POV ~“We’ve been followed,” My heart hammered in my chest as my hands gripped the child in my arm. He stirred in my arms, his soft whimpers blending with the rising tension in the room. Lisa’s claws extended, her body heating up as she started walking towards the door. The knock came again, causing my blood to run cold. How was someone able to track us through the tunnel? I thought Lisa said it was a secret. The second knock pushed the door in and it creaked open. I heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing who it was. Garrison. Lisa’s claws retracted and I saw her chest return to base with a heavy sigh. “Your grace,” she greeted with a bow.“I’m sorry I startled you,” Garrison apologized, his eres flicking between me and the child in my arms. They were filled with a deepening sense of passion and love as he inched closer. His gaze shifted back to me, with his hand racing up my sleeve. “Can I?” He breathed.“Sure,” I replied with a smile. I gently passed the boy into his arm
~ELENA’S POV ~I stood before the grand mirror in my chambers, staring at what was left of me. My hands ran down the embroidery of my ceremonial gown—heavy and suffocating. Just like the weight of being the Alpha of Sizzle pack which I carried for years.Unfortunately, that weight was taken off my shoulder. At first I was happy I was doing something like that. Sacrificing my position for my mate, Vernon. That was the best decision to me given the fact that I couldn’t morph. But it turned into a nightmare after I couldn’t give him an heir. Tonight was supposed to be a night of celebration for the Alpha and his family as tradition demanded. I was suppose to be the one sitting on the silver throne made for the alpha.Yet here I was, drowning in sorrows while the man I trusted the most made jolly in the halls, not bothering where I was. I couldn’t bring myself to admitting it. But ever since Vernon became distant from me, I knew something was wrong somewhere. His cold looks and tone whe
