As I locked eyes with the mystery man, the rest of the world seemed to fade away. I forgot where I was and all the steps that had brought me to that exact moment, but somehow I knew like a spiritual being was telling me, I felt it in the depths of my soul that this was the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I took in his features, he was a tall man about 6”5, his muscles were very defined in the tailored tuxedo he was wearing, he had a chiseled jawline, and his mouth was set tight like he was trying not to give any sense of emotion away. His hair was pitch black and it was set in a rough style that only the most handsome of men could pull off. The pupils of his eyes were pure black and his stare had a piercing sincerity to it. He looked very dominant and he gave off the aura and charisma of a real man.
I looked into his eyes and found it so alluring the way he was staring right back into mine. Neither of us said anything, but I was sure that whatever this sudden rush of emotions was, the feeling was mutual. He was staring at me like he saw something in my eyes; it seemed like our souls recognized each other and knew something we didn’t.My pulse quickened and my heart started to pound, a spot just underneath my collarbone was throbbing like crazy and I felt a strong urge to bare my neck to this man. I was more than willing to do that because all I wanted at that moment was for him to kiss me. He began to move closer towards me and I thought that was what he was about to do when I heard a very low and animal-like growl coming from him and I saw a weird flash in his eyes.I was very much taken aback by that and I immediately snapped back to reality because I found that it was a very strange thing for a person to do. I didn’t understand what was going on and I started to look confused. As the man saw the look in my eyes; he took a step back from me, he gave me one last glance and then he just walked right out of the apartment like we did not just share the most intimate gaze.Reine ran out after the man giving me some time to come back to my senses. I sat down on the couch and recounted everything that had gone down since I walked into the apartment building in my head but I could not seem to make sense of any of it. I remembered the way the man growled at me and how he walked away from me and I started to feel very angry at the whole situation.I was practically steaming from anger when Reine walked back into the apartment looking like a lost puppy. As soon as I saw my best friend I screamed out “What the actual f^ck just happened Reine? Who was that man, and what did he just do to me??”Reine looked surprised by my outburst, I was usually the calm and collected one but I understood that the events of the day were enough to trigger such a reaction in anyone. I calmed me down, got a glass of water for me to drink and sat down beside me on the couch.I stared at her waiting for an explanation, I saw that I was struggling and didn’t know how to answer my questions so I asked more calmly this time “Reine who exactly was that man?”Reine finds her words to respond this time, and she says “That was my older brother and only sibling, Lucien Duvall. I know you have a lot of questions as to what just happened and I know that you would be shocked about some things I will reveal to you about myself and my family but I beg of you, please remain calm and know that I kept all of this away from you for your good, you remain my best friend regardless of anything that happens and I hope you know that I love you as the sister I never had.”I was surprised at that response from my best friend, I thought I knew everything about Reine, I thought we had shared everything about each other and I was still confused as to how I felt all those things for Lucien in such a short period, We never even uttered any words to each other.I decided to stay calm and hear my friend out although I was anxious and curious inside. I eagerly waited for this revelation from Reine but just as she was about to talk, she got a phone call. I watched as my friend jumped from her seat and went to take the call in another room.Shortly after, Reine emerged from the other room and she seemed to be in a rush. She told me that she needed to leave immediately as something had come up back at her home and she had to be there. She begged me to trust our friendship and promised that she would either be back home as soon as possible or she would send word to me as soon as she could.I remember that I sat on the same spot and watched as my best friend left the apartment, I felt distraught at the events of the day and I felt somewhat betrayed that Reine had been keeping things from me. I remained in the same spot long after Reine had left and even late into the night. I felt extremely exhausted and I eventually ended up sleeping off on the couch.Deep in slumber, I began a dream that I had come to recognize all too well. I found myself strolling through a forest under the moonlight; the trees were unlike any I had ever seen, with a silver light that shimmered from their leaves and lit up a small path in front of me. I felt a gentle cool breeze against my skin and I ultimately felt at peace in that strange place. As I walked the small well-lit path, I started to realize that I was not alone, there was a creature lurking in the shadows. It didn’t seem evil or like an enemy though, in fact, it felt like this creature was a friend, one I was already familiar with. This was the point I usually woke up on other days and I had never actually gotten to see what the creature looked like but that day it was different. I heard a howl and the moon seemed to shine brighter in that instant. The creature slowly emerged from the shadow and for the first time, I got to take a good look at it. It had a pure white fur and it stood tall, it looked like it wasn’t going to hurt me but as it stared at her I saw that its eyes were a cobalt blue shade just like hers.I screamed and jumped from the couch, it was the fifth time in a row I had been getting these dreams but this was the clearest one so far and I was pretty sure about it this time. That was a wolf!I woke up feeling as confused as ever. I had finally seen what the creature from my dreams looked like, I was very sure that it was a wolf I saw but still, I had no idea what it all meant. I remembered that Reine had left so abruptly the previous day and I couldn’t help but feel a sudden pang of loneliness that my only friend had abandoned me.I did not dwell in the sad feelings and quickly took a shower to freshen up for the day then I headed to college and decided to be productive for the rest of the day but a part of me remained anxious to hear from Reine and have all the strange events explained. As I attended my classes and saw to my tasks for the day, I found myself often distracted by a whirlwind of thoughts, I was still expectant to hear from my friend but I had to admit to myself that it was another thought that was at the forefront of my mind; the image of the man I had met the day before. My brief but intense meeting with Lucien was not like anything I had ever experienced
Isaac and I drove a couple of miles away from the city, I had maintained my curiosity and hadn’t asked him any questions, but as I saw that he continued to drive further and further into the woods and away from civilization, I could not contain it any longer and I had to ask. “Where are we going?” He gave me a comforting grin and said, "I know this must all seem odd to you, but I assure you, there is nothing to be scared of, you are going to be alright." I remained curious, but something about Isaac's attitude put me at ease. Maybe it was the sincerity in his eyes or the air of authority that surrounded him. But whatever it was, I found myself nodding hesitantly. We continued to drive a little further into the woods, but then we got to a point and Isaac said we would have to continue our journey on foot. He led me through the woods, weaving through the narrow paths with a practiced ease and after some minutes of walking, we arrived at a strange structure in the middle of nowhere. It l
Aimee's POVThe car drove into the premises of the castle that stood in pride before me. There was a huge water fountain at the far right side of the compound. It looked neat and well-kept. There were a lot of people standing at various points in the compound and I could only guess that they were…“Guards, mostly warriors” my thoughts were interrupted by a man I had never met“Good day, Mi lady” he greeted me the moment I turned to him. “I’m Alec. I’ll be your tour guide until Princess Reine is ready to see you”I stared at him for a good number of seconds. He was so close to being as tall as Lucien. His brown hair and green eyes fit him quite well. Reluctantly, I forced a smile. It was like I had not trusted someone to bring me here. And now I am here. However, the aura he gave up was that of authority but it was also calm.He gestured for me to start the walk up the stairs that would lead us into the castle building. Before stepping on the stairs, I glanced at the two gigantic statu
Lucien’s POVI was dumbfounded at the sight before me. It seemed almost like a dream but I knew it certainly was not a dream. I was awake and conscious to know that this was real. Aimee was not only levitating but she was glowing like the moon.I wanted to believe that she was doing this on purpose but then her eyes were closed. In fact, she was fast asleep. She certainly did not know what was happening to her body. What exactly was going on and who was this mate of mine? A lot of questions came into mind but I was finding it difficult to get any substantive answers. Before I could get into the negative, I remembered something vital. “The white wolf is not an ordinary wolf. She glows like the moon in the night and her powers are unmeasurable” I remembered the prophecy many years agoFor years I had gone in search of this white wolf to save my people. The white wolf was the only vantage point to destroy the dark forces and stop them from causing any form of trouble. Most especially, on
Lucien’s POVThe moment those words left Reine's lips, I felt different. My body shook, and I felt a sharp pang of a headache. My heartbeat accelerated, and my eyes began to spin. I knew what was happening. It needed to be stopped.Up till this moment, I was able to keep Shadow on a leash. There were a lot of things involved in being a wolf. One thing was for sure needed if they were to survive being a wolf and that was control. Wolves turn to rogues because they tend to lose this control they have over their wolves.Instead, their wolves control them. Usually, wolves have this sudden taste to kill anyone, especially humans and sometimes even our kind. With control, this can be curbed although was not usually a simple thing to do.Worse, if you are blessed with extraordinary powers. It can go haywire without control. From a young age, I had to be trained on how to control my wolf. Shadow was the strongest wolf in the entire pack. Having such a title was scary but also a privilege. Wi
Lucien’s POVEveryone that came with me stopped and stared at my mate that was before every one of us in the forest. There was no weapon in her hand and she looked confused. She looked at the dead people around her; her supposed kidnappers. Her hair was disheveled and her clothes were torn all over with some flesh showing. She glanced at me as I approached her in the middle of the dead bodies of her kidnappers. They were cut up so badly that some of their internals were out in the open.Staring at my mate, both I and Shadow were relieved. I had not gone close to her since the imprint and had even considered rejecting her, but with each step towards her I felt a strange way. When I got to her, I gave her my hand and she looked around the dead men around her again somewhat scared, glanced at the others behind me, then back to me and my hand.Reluctantly, she took my hand and stood to her feet. I smiled, but it was not up to a minute that I saw her eyes weaken and drain before it shut c
Aimee's POVI squeezed my face feeling a pang of a headache which was followed by a little groan. My hand flung to my head, rubbing my temples as I slowly opened my eyes. However, I had to shut it back because the light felt too bright. When I opened my eyes, for a minute, I could not remember what had happened. In fact, my brain was blank as I stared at the ceiling. After laying motionless for a couple of minutes staring , I suddenly remembered what I had seen a while ago and everything came flooding back to me.I was in a world I never thought existed, a pack. A wolf pack in a supernatural world called Nexus. I was mated to Lucien, my best friend's brother. He did not seem to like me, which I did not really mind. And then the invasion, The attack! I remembered that I was with Reine in her room when she heard Alec calling out to her.She did not leave until she told me to stay right where I was. I did not doubt her and waited but someone or something creeped in through the window. I
Aimee's POVI stayed in bed for a couple of days. All the whole Riene would come visit me but would leave the moment Lucien stepped into the room. Once he came, he always stayed for over two hours and sometimes until I was sleepy and needed to rest.I hated it! I didn't want to be around him and he had not apologized for what he did. Reine has been trying to excuse his behaviour and saying he was trying but I was not going to buy it. Yes, he was my mate but that does not mean anything. Just because we were mates does not mean I'll just accept him after being so stern. After two weeks, I was finally strong enough to move around and train to get to know my powers properly. For now, I had not told them that I had met with my wolf but it was fine they told me I was the white wolf. Practically, the same thing Menae had told me.“Try to understand him, I want to be with shadow, he is our mate” Menae said to me as she was also trying to make me not see Lucien as a jerkI had complained to h
