Chapter 9

My dreams were riddled with Haven, Necromancers and Cryomancers. I should have just dreamwalked and got myself out of that mess, but I was hoping maybe my dreams would have given me any type of ideas as to what to do with this situation we had ended up in.

Unfortunately, I was unable to come to any conclusions. I got up and hopped in the shower, threw on a traditional silver suit with black accents and black shoes. Ran my hand through my hair and headed down to speak to the Cryomancer.

It was a little strange… I didn’t see anyone out and about or walking around. The tunnels were lacking the few guards that were roaming around down there yesterday when we went as well. I wonder what they are doing, or where they are at?

I ignored the thought though, because when I finally came to the small tunnel entrance I could see it was now covered in glistening ice crystals. So, she really pushed it and made an entire ice tunnel, I see.

I stepped inside and the temperature instantly dr

Chapter 10“Raphael! Raphael...” Haven’s worried voice rang through my ears. My eyes slowly fluttered open to find myself in Haven's arms. She was slapping my face a little and saying my name. As I registered where I was, the memories came flooding back in pieces. Marina, my frustration, the scotch, Haven in that short dress… Mmm, that short dress. I sat up and instantly could feel a thick fuzzy sensation leaving my head. That same sensation I get when I'm near Marina and she speaks to me through my mind. It almost feels like something slithering through my thoughts. I rather disliked it, honestly. “What the fuck happened to me?” I asked Haven as I got up off the floor and brushed my suit off. She didn’t answer so I turned to look at her, but she was gone. "What the fuck... Haven?“ I said out loud. I know she was here. I literally just saw her. Was I really that out of it that I just imagined her? I wandered out into the hallway to see if she was out there for some reason. She wasn’

Chapter 11Something crazy was happening, and I knew I wasn't losing my mind. Or was I? I have noticed I’ve been on edge a lot more than usual. I chalked it off to being stuck here with these filthy Necromancers. That, and sexual tension, of course. Giving up my plaything wasn’t my best decision. In fact, I was now kind of regretting it. Then there’s Haven being a damn tease. I felt my jaw tense up at the thought of her. But what if it was more than I was thinking? I grabbed some sort of fancy pastry off the tray sitting on the dining room table. What if I'm brushing it off as normal occurrences, when whatever it might be is literally right under my nose? I needed a break from these dirty Necromancers. Maybe I was turning into one of them. The thought made me laugh. Not in a thousand years.I materialized to the park by my home. It was one of my favorite places to sit and think. There was a bench right off the river trail where I could sit and read. Here, I could still see the people

Chapter 12“God Damnit!” I yelled out loud, pounding my fist into the floor. I stood up and took a deep breath in, I was not losing my mind. I decided to keep this escapade to myself for now and headed out to find Blaze. The Necromancers seemed to have no idea what was going on behind the scenes and I was determined to find out more. I couldn't find Blaze anywhere in the castle, so I headed outdoors to see if he was in the courtyard. I found him outside with a few other warriors raising the dead. They were brought in by my people during shift change. "Per manum meam, et mortui resurgent." I could hear him chanting as he raised the dead one by one and commanded them to a separate area of the castle. I watched as they all walked to their respective assigned areas as Blaze headed my way.“Have you seen Haven today?” I asked him, more curious to see what his answer would be than anything. After my little charade with her earlier, I was truly wondering just who else she had under her spel

  • The Reaver Chronicles: Raphael (Book 2)   Chapter 13

Chapter 13 It was getting close to nightfall, and I had previously mind linked Atreyu to inquire about Roxy. She was currently at a diner just by my house and she was alone. I decided to pop in and check on her myself. I, of course, wouldn’t make it seem like I was following her. Instead, I would make it seem like I had randomly just bumped into her. Axel came to life at the thought of seeing his chosen mate again, and honestly my mind could use the distraction. I materialized a block away from the diner planning to walk in nonchalantly. I was going back and forth in my mind trying to figure out the perfect way to act like we just ran into each other and not give away the fact that I was indeed following her. I had to push Axel into the back of my mind because his internal dialogue was driving me mad. I wouldn’t have been able to keep up my charade with his insistent howling anyway. I got to the door and opened it. I could see Roxy sitting in the far booth. I could only see her

Chapter 14 The next morning, I kept a close eye on the Necromancers around the castle. Acting like I was just making the rounds, but I was actually listening to conversations. I was looking for any type of clue, anyone acting weird, or going to a weird place in the castle. I was paying extra close attention to the walls and passages, plus just randomly following people hoping maybe it would lead to something that would make this all worth it. It was easy for me to stay in the background and go unnoticed. Hell, most of the Necromancers here would rather chew their own arms off than talk to a Reaver. I realized the castle was much bigger than I had previously thought. There were hundreds of doors and hallways I hadn’t ventured down. To think that there wouldn't be some hidden passages or locked doors I haven't accessed would be absurd. I hadn't heard or found anything worthwhile until one of the Necromancer warriors mentioned that Blaze was down in the dungeon. Now just

Chapter 15I knew this was just a dreamwalk, so of course, it was going to be somewhat different than real life. But I was still astonished at what I was seeing. The girl I saw when I came around the corner was in fact Haven. The Haven I remember. With her fiery red hair down to her ass, and her deep green eyes. But she wasn’t a Necromancer... She wasn’t a Necromancer at all. She was a Forsaken... The Forsaken were a clan of old, one of the first even. They were said to be able to completely control the elements, all four of them in every capacity. The Forsaken were a graceful species. Everything about them was beautiful and flowing like water. Their hair, their voices, their movements, all fluid. Their magic was coveted by many, and clan after clan, species after species tried to capture them. Tried to find a way to extract their magic or imprison them and force them to use their magic for whatever their captors wanted at the time. Many tried, many failed, and even lost their very l

Chapter 16(Haven)I had lost count at how long the Necromancers had me down here. Had it been weeks, months? The nights and days were a blur. I spent my time dreamwalking to try and get a reprieve from the mess I was caught up in. Honestly, what did I expect anyways? I came out of hiding briefly and that’s all it took for them to locate me. Of course, they had the help of a half breed Witch, otherwise they never would have found me. She had been tracking me for quite some time apparently, and it was my mistake of surfacing again that caused a big red flag directly to my location. I was used to living in solitude, my kind was basically extinct, and I was alone. I had been for a very, very, long time. I was used to hiding and sneaking my way around the world. To be a Forsaken now, was surely a death sentence. I was surprised they hadn’t killed me yet. Instead, they had me playing house with the Reaver, Raphael. Little did they know just how well I really knew him. They were using me

Chapter 17Raphael was the first Reaver to mark me, I chose him first on purpose. I’ve always had a soft spot for him. He was the worst off out of the brothers. His family was murdered. This included his wife and twin boys who were only 3 years old at the time. It was a home invasion gone wrong. He was strong though, keeping his emotions at bay. But I could tell something was wrong when I first approached him. And when I looked into his memories, that's when I knew he was the one. He was the first. I chose him first, changed him first, wiped his memories first, and had him mark me first. None of this he remembers, obviously, but there is a permanent connection to me. He doesn’t know why other than the mark adorning my skin, but there is more. Before I changed him, we got very close. I had to get to know him, see him in all his Human flaws before I could make a true decision. I made the right decision, as with all four of the men I chose. I feel the decision was right. I didn't mean

Suddenly memories of the night before came rushing into my mind. This woman was Haven, my girlfriend. “Jesus, don’t tell her I forgot who she was, she will rip my balls off.” I said to Titan with a silent laugh. I didn’t want to wake her. It must have been one hell of a night if I forgot my own girlfriend, sheesh… I snuck out of bed and headed to the shower. After the night we had, I definitely needed a damn shower. I’ll tell you what, she is fucking good in bed. Thoughts of our encounter last night made my dick hard, so I turned on t

Chapter 57We didn’t pull away until we were both breathless. I took a moment to just admire my prize. How did I get so lucky? I was swimming with emotion and decided this was the best time to bring up my second question. “Ok, one last question.” I said to her, but she cut me off. “I actually have a question for you.” She said. “Oh?” I replied curiously. “When are you going to mark me?” She asked. I was completely blown away, that was the next question I was going to ask her. I knew she knew about the mark. She had done a lot of research for her compilation. She had picked my brain a few times as well and we had spoken about it. To me, the mark was nothing. I played around with it, threw it around carelessly… Marked whatever plaything I wanted, never making it permanent just for fun. But this was different… She was different.“Well, I did want to talk to you about the mark, darling. Humans get married when they choose a mate, or whatever you would call it. Reavers do not. Instead, we

Chapter 56I saw Haven’s face harden as I mentioned Roxy, but I didn’t think anything of it. “Bye Haven.” I said, and I waved then materialized back to Roxy who was with Jerome. Funny, I don’t remember bringing her here, I thought. Maybe I was doing it just in case? But why would I worry about visiting my brother with her there? I shook my confusion away when I saw Roxy standing there like she was ready to go.“Thank you.” I said to the warriors. “I take it the threat has been neutralized?” Jerome said. “What threat?” I asked him. The confusion littered his face causing me to raise one eyebrow. He looked from me to Roxy and then nodded and sat back down. “That was strange.” I said to Axel. “Yea I wonder what his deal is?” Axel said back. I shrugged my shoulders and grabbed Roxy. “Let’s go home, darling.” I said to her, and we materialized back at home. After we ate, showered and got ready for bed I was content in life. I had Roxy in my arms, reveling in the joy just holding her gave

Chapter 55Within seconds The Shadows surrounded her, and I watched in horror as they sent slice after slice over her entire body, sucking her dry of every ounce of blood she had… I felt an extreme pang of guilt as her screams filled the cell. I had never seen The Shadows take a life and this was not what I was expecting at all… This was brutal and horrific… I knew she wanted this, and this was her way of thanking me… But I didn’t feel like I had done anything to deserve thanking. She said she owed me, but how? For the kindness I showed her? Fornot torturing and killing her? Giving her very life was hardly repayment for something so miniscule… I would forever feel guilt over her sacrifice. Once The Shadows had finished with her, they laid her lifeless body on the ground in front of me and proceeded to surround Roxy. They covered her entire body, writhing and seething. She suddenly was lifted into the air and engulfed in a bright white light. It was so bright I couldn’t look directly

Chapter 54I wasn’t sure what had her all worked up, but I had a feeling I was about to find out. “Why, Raphael? Why her?” Haven spat while pointing at Roxy. “Oh my god… Haven, we are not doing this again.” I spat back. This entire mess literally stemmed from her jealousy?? Come on! Get the fuck over it. My annoyed thoughts rang through my mind. “You just don’t understand apparently. And maybe you never will…” Haven trailed off while looking like she was lost in thought.I rolled my eyes, this is so fucking stupid. “Haven’t you ever felt that pull to someone? The pull that is so strong that no matter how much you fight it, you just can’t resist it? That pull that makes you weak in the knees when you see that person or hear their name? The pull that keeps you up at night dreaming of that person, and has you wishing more than anything in this world that you could just be with them? Have you ever truly felt that way, Raphael?” Haven asked. My mind went straight to Roxy. From that first n

Chapter 53Roxy would be safe here. I could trust Jerome. I locked eyes with her, and it was like she knew I was thinking of leaving her here and she didn’t want to stay. She kept quiet and I couldn’t tell if that was due to the magic or her own thought process. I took her beautiful face in my hand. “If I take you with me, you are going to see things that I'm sure you do not want to see. I’m sorry but I can’t leave them alive. Not even one of them. You understand this right?” I said to her softly. I could see the internal battle raging through her brown eyes. It was like she knew I was right, but her instincts said I was wrong. She was in the middle of a battle that she wasn’t going to win. Human life and rules were so much different than the life and rules of the underworld. I wish I had more time to explain this to her, I just hoped she would understand. “Ok, I understand.” She said, and she gripped my hand harder. Good girl. I thought. We then materialized to Atreyu who was with

Chapter 52I sat there wallowing in my own misery for what seemed like hours before I noticed that the cut on her arm had healed up and was no longer there. I turned on my Vampire hearing but couldn’t detect a heartbeat. She was healing though, so that was a good sign. I felt relief wash over me when I realized she would in fact revive. It took so much longer than I had previously seen though, and it made me wonder if the further away from the Land of The Dead the longer the revival took? I probably should have taken her home first, but I didn’t want to startle her. I wanted her to wake up in the same place she died in. I had questions, and I needed answers. An hour later, which seemed like eternity, I heard a faint heartbeat, and I was able to breathe again. She was coming back. Slowly… But she was. “That’s it Roxy, come back to me, darling.” I said to her, knowing she couldn’t hear me anyways. It took about another hour before she regained the color in her face and her eyes flutte

I instantly mind linked my men to let them know of my findings and to assemble troops to head that way. We definitely had ways to disrupt magic, and we were going to try them all. I then told Jerome and his men what I learned, and he mind linked his men as well. We were getting an army together to storm the west. “I want every last one of those filthy Necromancers dead. No questions asked.” I snarled. “Yes sir, and what of the prisoner?” Jerome asked. “Leave her, I still need her.” I replied. Then I turned and headed out the door. I decided not to go straight home, it was only midafternoon, and I needed to check on the security around my covens. Something told me that I wasn’t the only one the Necromancers were fuck

Chapter 50(Raphael)Roxy seemed strange this morning, different than usual and a lot quieter. I chalked it off to our encounter last night. That was the first time we had done anything sexual really, and I wondered if maybe it had been a little too much for her... I mean, she definitely didn’t complain. But why would she? She said it was incredible. I did bite her though, without warning… Yea, that might have been a little much for a Human to comprehend. But I couldn’t help it… It just kind of happened. I wanted to ask her about it but decided against it. I knew she wasn’t able to talk freely from being Risen, and that could have been bothering her too. I was frustrated because I hadn’t gotten anywhere with the fucking Necromancer during our last interaction and I really had hoped that she would have given me something, anything. I needed to find the remaining Necromancers so I could find a way to cure Roxy. They had to know a way to reverse this shit. Turn Roxy back to Human. Wit
