- Yvere and Death -
Once all the enemies were confirmed dead or gone Death turned back into his usual form. His body was riddled with third degree burns and his robe was more burnt holes than cloth.
Yvere rushed to help, but Death stopped her.
"I'm at no risk of dying. Help your team first."
Sabu and Elijah had recieved minor healing from Yvere. She wanted to restore them completely but they both argued that Lucifer would probably need more attention than both of them. She felt frustrated that everyone seemed to deny her help. She knew why, but she couldn't stand watching everyone, covered in injures, act tough.
'Maybe it's an age thing. Then again, Elijah's younger than me.'
After all of that was sorted, Death and the others went to where Lucifer had crawled under the rubble. Yvere was carrying Lao, while Death carried Peter, and Heinrich carried Mira. As th
- Lucifer -"Is that everyone?" Lucifer asked Mira."Yes. I swear. Please...leave them be. They aren't problems for you." Mira's voice was shaking.Lucifer sighed and looked around at everyone."You know that's not true. As much as we both wish things were peaceful, our kind is vindictive." Lucifer's eye were melancholic. I have no plans to march into Heaven looking to collect heads."Lucifer looked over at Elijah."Hand me the dagger."Mira flinched. She knew this was it.Elijah handed the dagger to Lucifer."Catch." Lucifer told Mira, tossing the dagger to her.Mira didn't understand what he was doing."You attempted to kill me and my team. Under normal circumstances I would just slit your throat myself, but this is a more severe situation."
- Sabu -"Back in my past life, when I was still a child, I was an orphan who lived with other orphans."Elijah, despite how crowded his thoughts were, made a point to listen. He leaned in as Sabu spoke."We were not being raised in an orphanage by some kind owner. We were being raised for a future of killing. Beatings, food denial, and practicing the most efficient ways to kill a target. That was our daily lives." As Sabu got deeper into his past his expression would stiffen."There was a week, maybe two, where we had gone without food entirely. Certain parts of the memory are hazy. The faces of the other children, the time, even what I looked like, but there is one part that has stayed clear in my mind."Sabu began rubbing his arm slowly."We had been told that the end of our fast would be a special day. None of us believed it to be anything good. We had be
- Death and Lucifer -Nephthys and Death spoke the entire ride to the center of Heliopolis. Death didn't tell her about the past battle and instead opted to talk about more trivial things.["I hope you enjoyed the barrel. I know Ra values your opinion on it."]["It was great as usual. I hope I can see Bes as I travel through to thank him."]["I had hoped you would stay a little while. You rarely come through these parts."] Nephthys pouted.Death made an awkward laugh.'Has it really been that long since I've traveled north?' He wondered. The buildings of Heliopolis came into sight and Nephthys rode ahead of the group, waving goodbye as she went.Heliopolis was a large city with various golden looking buildings, some of which reached to the sky. The ground went from sand to sandstone and the sound of merchants selling
- Elijah -Elijah was in awe at the inside of the palace. It was many times the size of the vampiric castle.Ra stopped talking to Death and walked up to him. He had expected this. The guide mentioned many times that Ra found great interest in reborn. He started preparing what to say in his head.["I see you're impressed with my home little lesser. I hope you don't feel too intimidated."]Elijah waited until the translator spoke before responding."He said he notices how impressed you are and hopes you don't feel intimidated.""Thank you for the hospitality lord Ra." Elijah bowed. The man next to Ra translated, causing Ra to make a booming laugh.["I need no thanks for something so basic. Don't fear casual speak with me. A friend of Death's is a friend of mine. I'm not prone to acts of wrath like the Olympians."]
- Lucifer -Everyone was given various dishes and drinks. No one was hungry so the portions were small. Lao had a large piece of meat covered in a gray skin while Yvere had a pint of foul-smelling blood.Lucifer stood up and requested to speak to Anubis while Death continued talking with Osiris.'Why would you start the conversation with Anubis?' Death wondered. The two walked to a separate room of the palace. Lucifer made the excuse that he didn't want to ruin everyone's meals with what he wanted to talk about.["Did something happen that I should be aware of?"] Lucifer quietly asked."We can talk in the human tongue. I only use the other language because Ra prefers not needing translations." Anubis's voice grew deeper."I need to discuss with your lord. I assume there wouldn't be any problems if I give you the message?" Anubis gave a wa
- Death and Lucifer -The two didn't speak to each other. They got into their usual positions and the group silently left Heliopolis. The silence made both worry about the other.'He didn't ask me any questions?' Death wondered.'I guess he thinks I'm worried about the Moloch line. Not wrong, just not my main concern.' Lucifer thought. The ride would have looked peaceful on the outside. Everyone was quiet, thinking about their own positions. The uništi moving slower through the sand didn't help.Lucifer decided to just enjoy the faux peace. He liked the dessert scenery for its simplicity. He stared out at the stretching sands and thought about how he should approach the subject of an underworld alliance.Death hated the sand. He found it reminded him of unpleasant moments from his past. He also didn't like the uništi's reduced speed in the envir
- Death and Lucifer -The sound of metal clashing seemed to echo through the night time air.Every swing of Death's scythe lifted Lucifer off the ground when he blocked. Everytime Death closed in Lucifer would shoot flames from the sword. The two held each other off without making any progress.Lucifer slammed his sword against Death's scythe and caused the flames on the blade to roar stronger.Death didn't struggle to push Lucifer off of him. He swung his scythe around his body, knocking Lucifer back. He pursued and attempted to bring the scythe blade-side down on Lucifer's shoulder.Lucifer blocked the heavy attack, his feet sinking into the ground as he did. The scythe's blade was to his back. He knew what would come next.Death pulled his scythe to him. Lucifer ducked his shoulder under the blade and ran towards Death.Peter was watch
- Death -Death decided to call Zach to get an update on the current locations of the grim."Dahlia's group is in the east by Sun's territory. Yuri's is in the neutral zone between R'lyeh and the orc territory. Oliver is still near the unknown in Passage. The secondary-teams haven't spotted anything unusual. They all seem to be fine." Zach reported."Yuri once again apologizes for not being in Sol by the way. I keep telling him it's fine, I'm sure eventually he'll listen."Death had originally stationed Yuri's team in Sol. He later moved them after thinking that Sol was peaceful enough."He understands I'm the one who ordered him to move right? Vázoluna seemed peaceful, so I decided to shift their team to a more active area.""I know, I've told him plenty of times. He's convinced it's his fault. I am curious though, why did you want another update so s
- Elijah and Lao -(After Death called Satan)Lao, Heinrich, Yvere, Sabu, and Elijah were heading towards Bolotano with everyone else."You don't have to fight," Lao said."Why are you telling me this?" Elijah sighed. "I know, but I have a feeling there won't be an actual choice.""I wanted to thank you, for Sol." Lao looked at the ground. "And...say that I'm sorry for how I've come across.""You're fine." Elijah shrugged. "I don't mean any offense by this; we're not friends. We've practically just met and you clearly have a lot to deal with on average.""I...I, sorry." Lao stopped.Elijah knew what Lao was trying to do. He hated the situation he was in, leading to him forgetting about the rest of the team's problems. He had the least to lose among all of them, and yet he was acting as if he had it the worst.&
- Moloch and Baal -(After Lucifer sent the group back to Hell)Moloch and Baal were discussing over an echo call about their alliance with Satan."Can we really trust him?" Moloch asked, stroking his beard."Bit late to question it now?" Baal grunted. "We could win without his help, so I'm not overly invested in his strength.""Mmmmm." Moloch hummed. "Don't you think the timing is strange?""His timing is always strange." Baal laughed. "Why are you so concerned about this?"Moloch paused. He was worried about himself more than anything. He had questioned his alliance with even Baal in the past, so this trepidation was nothing new."We lost the Underground," Moloch growled. "I don't like the way things are going.""Like I said-" Baal sighed. "-bit late to question it now."'Is
- Lucifer and Kahvis -Lucifer and Kahvis were on their own at the front of the right army, with Death being alone on the left. The two were channeling magic as they walked, Lucifer's arms were covered in explosive orbs, and Kahvis was holding two orbs of electricity. Kahvis had switched to a black shirt with three linked blue circles on the back, with black pants. The two were walking through the destroyed headquarters. Kahvis looked around at the area, confused by what happened."I don't have time to explain." Lucifer said."It doesn't matter." Kahvis responded. The two kept moving forward. They were meant to spearhead the demon armies along with Death. They would need to deal massive damage first, or the resistance's army would simply be overwhelmed. It didn't help that the average demon soldier is stronger than the average human. The odds of the battle went through Lucifer's mind one last time be
- Satan, Moloch, Baal -(Morning after last chapter)"Like I told you before, you need to start your attack now." Satan said into the echo. "If you don't keep them from digging deeper in Bolotano we won't win this.""You care about winning and yet you sent a messenger to them!" Moloch spat."I want a proper battle-" Satan's voice started to sound like a mix of anger and excitement. "-not some facade of one. You're lucky you have my help, now don't waste it.""Can you at least tell us how long it will take for your forces to pincer them?" Baal asked."No...too easy." Satan said with a smile. "Who knows, maybe you'll win without me? Wouldn't that be something?" Satan leaned away and whispered. "Though I wouldn't bet on it...""Once this is all over we should come to your side of the world and return the favor." Baal said.
- Saint, Death, Lucifer -Lucifer wanted to help Saint, but he was scared that he might draw Death's aggression. He thought it would be better if he waited and only stepped in if it seemed like Saint was about to lose.Death rapidly blinked to Saint. He was on her in a moment, gripping his hand around her throat and lifting her off the ground. He was readying to slam her down when he felt both her feet kicking into him. The blow was strong enough to send him back once more. What followed looked like a white light crashing against a shadow. Death had strength and speed, Saint had technique. Their fight started to destroy the resistance's evacuated headquarters, causing the sound of breaking stone to fill the air.Death grabbed Saint's arm and threw her through multiple huts. He appeared above her, attempting to stomp her face. She dodged the attack and struck Death's smoke hidden face. She exchanged b
- Lucifer -Lucifer had stayed in the hut long after Death left. He had been staring at the board endlessly, to the point that he could see images of it when he blinked. The scenarios he had run through in his head had pervaded all of his other thoughts. Even thinking about the five traveling to Heliopolis would be interrupted by a connecting thought of how he would deal with their respective magics. These thoughts combined with the fact that he was in two minds about having Peter stay around made it difficult for him to think about much else. He trusted Peter's strength, but couldn't help picturing him die. The true risk of this war had set in. It wasn't that he had thought things would go perfectly fine, and everyone would get a happy ending, just that he had confidence from his prior victory in the Underground. He pictured Kahvis attending to the friends and loved ones of those who died in the raid, and wondered what
- Peter, Lao, David, Sabu, Moloch -"Now it's almost fair." Moloch smiled.Moloch lifted his hand up and made a circle in the air. Blood shot up from the ground and begun spinning violently. Moloch sustained the velocity of the vortex with one hand while using the other to explode the insides of the stone pillar David and Sabu were on.Lao rushed towards Moloch. Moloch flicked his hand toward Lao, causing blood spikes to shoot up from the ground. Lao jumped over the attack and kept moving.Lao sent a quick right punch speed towards Moloch. His fist connected with Moloch's smiling face.Moloch quickly opened his hand. Blood spikes shot from his cloak into Lao. He was overjoyed in what he thought was a victory, until he saw the reborn's face.Lao had blocked his head and heart from receiving hits. He was still deeply wounded, but he wasn't done moving. His left
- Lucifer and David -(Before the main story)"I'm telling you to be more careful." Lucifer was warning David. "Double affinities don't make you invincible.""I can't afford to be more careful." David said.David was 5"9'. He had dark shaggy black hair that matched his scraggly beard. He had a slim frame that made him appear younger. He was wearing a black shirt and thick brown pants. His irises were a bright yellow color."I'm telling you this because I don't want you dragging Peter into making bad decisions." Lucifer sighed. The two were approached by a reborn woman."You two ready?" Emily asked."Hopefully." Lucifer said in David's direction.Emily was a shorter woman, standing 5"5'. Her brown hair was crew cut, and her face seemed to be permanently scrunched. She was wearing a green cloak and
- Death and Oliver -"You okay sir?" Oliver said from afar to Death."I'll be fine." Death mumbled.Oliver didn't have much interaction with Death before their meeting in Passage. He was secretly excited to get the chance to speak with him. He was going to ask if he could practice with him until he saw Death's training. It was different, it seemed more purposeful, as though he was imagining someone as he swung the scythe.'Can't imagine practicing with that.' Oliver scratched the back of his head.Death was trying to quiet everything around him. What mattered to him now was staying focused. He couldn't practice his riding with Hrom so he was stuck with just weapon and image training. So long as he kept his eyes closed he wouldn't see the eyes of the crowd and most of them wouldn't dare say anything if they thought he could hear them.Oliver was looking around
