- Death and Lucifer -
The sound of metal clashing seemed to echo through the night time air.
Every swing of Death's scythe lifted Lucifer off the ground when he blocked. Everytime Death closed in Lucifer would shoot flames from the sword. The two held each other off without making any progress.
Lucifer slammed his sword against Death's scythe and caused the flames on the blade to roar stronger.
Death didn't struggle to push Lucifer off of him. He swung his scythe around his body, knocking Lucifer back. He pursued and attempted to bring the scythe blade-side down on Lucifer's shoulder.
Lucifer blocked the heavy attack, his feet sinking into the ground as he did. The scythe's blade was to his back. He knew what would come next.
Death pulled his scythe to him. Lucifer ducked his shoulder under the blade and ran towards Death.

- Death -Death decided to call Zach to get an update on the current locations of the grim."Dahlia's group is in the east by Sun's territory. Yuri's is in the neutral zone between R'lyeh and the orc territory. Oliver is still near the unknown in Passage. The secondary-teams haven't spotted anything unusual. They all seem to be fine." Zach reported."Yuri once again apologizes for not being in Sol by the way. I keep telling him it's fine, I'm sure eventually he'll listen."Death had originally stationed Yuri's team in Sol. He later moved them after thinking that Sol was peaceful enough."He understands I'm the one who ordered him to move right? Vázoluna seemed peaceful, so I decided to shift their team to a more active area.""I know, I've told him plenty of times. He's convinced it's his fault. I am curious though, why did you want another update so s
-Death and Lucifer -"I've been waiting for this call. I know how it looks, but please be patient with me. I'm on your side in this." Hades assured the two."What's going on? Are you and Persephone okay?" Death asked."We're fine, as always. Nothing is going wrong for us." Hades cleared his throat. "I have no plans on being a part of this alliance. My brother has his problems, but I wouldn't dare usurp his place. For one thing I don't even want to rule the above ground. I actually like my home, unlike the others."Hades was one of the most trusted gods for Death and Lucifer. He routinely proved himself as being far more understanding and reasonable. The two were relieved to hear him say he wasn't planning on overthrowing his brother."What are your plans then? We know how you feel about Zeus, but so do the other underworld gods. Surely they would be keeping a suspicious eye on yo
- Death and Lucifer -Death came up to the group."Playing Hopu?" Death asked."Yes..." Lucifer grumbled. "We were at least. I was discussing the magic inconsistencies with Elijah. I told him how I thought it wa-""Luce." Peter interrupted.Lucifer looked at Peter and back to Death."Long story short Elijah was wondering about the restrictions of water and wind magic." Lucifer summarized.Death's eyes shifted around a little before he spoke."Yeah I know you can get obsessive about that. I think all those conversations you've had with the scientists in Hell flipped a switch in you."Lucifer was curious about Death's uneasiness."Did Zach not take the information well?""He took it well, too well even. I think he's desensitized to a lot of things." Death's
- Death and Lucifer -The group left at sunrise through the elven woods of Verdyr. This territory's forest was far less obscuring than Vázoluna's, with light shining the whole way through. While the elves rule Verdyr the entirety of the territory is actually a cluster of various lands ruled by different gods and creatures. Verdyr was simply the quickest route. The group had no problems traveling through with the only time loss happening from elves coming up and asking about the fight the night before."Duel's code." Death and Lucifer had to repeat at nauseam. The elves were naturally curious of all travelers. The lush green surroundings were peppered with cloaked figures pointing and whispering. It was an unsettling sight for Elijah, but the rest were just annoyed by it."You'd think we were dragons with how blatant they're being about their curiosity." Lucifer joked.
- Death -Death arrived in Oliver's camp. There were various tents setup all over, with a large one in the center. The two grim that were close by turned and bowed."Leave the formalities for now, is Oliver here?" Death waved."I didn't expect you to be here so soon sir. I thought you would still be in Verdyr, talking with the fairy rulers." Oliver said as he came out of the large tent.Oliver was 5'8" tall, with brown hair and pale skin. He had a slim build with brown eyes, and was wearing a cloak that looked similar to Death's robe."Decided against meeting with them. I think I slowed this mission down enough with the frequent political stops." Death looked around at the staring grim and mentally sighed."Have you seen the unknown? Lucifer is currently searching the center of the city." Death asked.Oliver shook his head.&
- Lucifer -Lucifer couldn't help but stare at the unknown before him. They're facial features and monotone voice made it difficult to confidently tell what gender they were. This combined with the fact that everyone he had heard refer to the unknown always used "they" or "them" didn't help. The unknown was 6'1" with long light brown hair and an almost snow-white skin tone. Lucifer understood why some might think they're an angel."You wanted to meet me first, here I am, so now please do me the kindness of telling me why you don't want to talk to Death?"The unknown's eyes were similar to Lucifer's in a way, almost like they were mirroring his stare. They spoke in a soft monotone voice."I disagree with his beliefs. A fact I'm sure would make negotiations difficult if I revealed it to him.""What makes you think it won't make this talk difficult? I happen to
- Death -Death could feel his echo recieving a call. He assumed it was Lucifer."Lucifer? Is everything okay? I'll be right there!"The demon bartender looked over at Death."No! Just stay with the team. If anything happens up there I'm trusting you with their safety." Lucifer ended the call. The rumblings of the explosion could be felt in the tavern. The bartender raised their palm from behind the counter and shot an explosive orb at the group. Peter caught it and Sabu threw a knife in-between the demon's eyes.Peter shot the magic at the wall behind the counter and pulled out his sword. He stabbed the demon's corpse in the head and tossed the knife back to Sabu."Durable fuckers. Ya can never be too sure."Death wanted to run down and help Lucifer until he got another call."It must be Oliver."
- Lucifer -"I'm going to need some identifiers for your people. I'd prefer not hitting my temporary allies." Lucifer asked Kahvis."I suspected as much. My people all have a marking on the back of their clothes in the shape of three blue circles." Kahvis told Lucifer. The man from before removed his cloak and showed the design to Lucifer.'I wonder what significance those hold?' Lucifer wondered as he went through the door. The three came out of the building and watched the scattering beings. There were large orcs and four-horned demons walking around with weapons trying to find the culprit of the explosions."I'll follow your lead for now. I'm not sure exactly who I should be killing here." Lucifer said."Four-horns and large orcs are slave masters. Oni are bodyguards. There are a few lycans and elves we need to look out for in the shad
- Elijah and Lao -(After Death called Satan)Lao, Heinrich, Yvere, Sabu, and Elijah were heading towards Bolotano with everyone else."You don't have to fight," Lao said."Why are you telling me this?" Elijah sighed. "I know, but I have a feeling there won't be an actual choice.""I wanted to thank you, for Sol." Lao looked at the ground. "And...say that I'm sorry for how I've come across.""You're fine." Elijah shrugged. "I don't mean any offense by this; we're not friends. We've practically just met and you clearly have a lot to deal with on average.""I...I, sorry." Lao stopped.Elijah knew what Lao was trying to do. He hated the situation he was in, leading to him forgetting about the rest of the team's problems. He had the least to lose among all of them, and yet he was acting as if he had it the worst.&
- Moloch and Baal -(After Lucifer sent the group back to Hell)Moloch and Baal were discussing over an echo call about their alliance with Satan."Can we really trust him?" Moloch asked, stroking his beard."Bit late to question it now?" Baal grunted. "We could win without his help, so I'm not overly invested in his strength.""Mmmmm." Moloch hummed. "Don't you think the timing is strange?""His timing is always strange." Baal laughed. "Why are you so concerned about this?"Moloch paused. He was worried about himself more than anything. He had questioned his alliance with even Baal in the past, so this trepidation was nothing new."We lost the Underground," Moloch growled. "I don't like the way things are going.""Like I said-" Baal sighed. "-bit late to question it now."'Is
- Lucifer and Kahvis -Lucifer and Kahvis were on their own at the front of the right army, with Death being alone on the left. The two were channeling magic as they walked, Lucifer's arms were covered in explosive orbs, and Kahvis was holding two orbs of electricity. Kahvis had switched to a black shirt with three linked blue circles on the back, with black pants. The two were walking through the destroyed headquarters. Kahvis looked around at the area, confused by what happened."I don't have time to explain." Lucifer said."It doesn't matter." Kahvis responded. The two kept moving forward. They were meant to spearhead the demon armies along with Death. They would need to deal massive damage first, or the resistance's army would simply be overwhelmed. It didn't help that the average demon soldier is stronger than the average human. The odds of the battle went through Lucifer's mind one last time be
- Satan, Moloch, Baal -(Morning after last chapter)"Like I told you before, you need to start your attack now." Satan said into the echo. "If you don't keep them from digging deeper in Bolotano we won't win this.""You care about winning and yet you sent a messenger to them!" Moloch spat."I want a proper battle-" Satan's voice started to sound like a mix of anger and excitement. "-not some facade of one. You're lucky you have my help, now don't waste it.""Can you at least tell us how long it will take for your forces to pincer them?" Baal asked."No...too easy." Satan said with a smile. "Who knows, maybe you'll win without me? Wouldn't that be something?" Satan leaned away and whispered. "Though I wouldn't bet on it...""Once this is all over we should come to your side of the world and return the favor." Baal said.
- Saint, Death, Lucifer -Lucifer wanted to help Saint, but he was scared that he might draw Death's aggression. He thought it would be better if he waited and only stepped in if it seemed like Saint was about to lose.Death rapidly blinked to Saint. He was on her in a moment, gripping his hand around her throat and lifting her off the ground. He was readying to slam her down when he felt both her feet kicking into him. The blow was strong enough to send him back once more. What followed looked like a white light crashing against a shadow. Death had strength and speed, Saint had technique. Their fight started to destroy the resistance's evacuated headquarters, causing the sound of breaking stone to fill the air.Death grabbed Saint's arm and threw her through multiple huts. He appeared above her, attempting to stomp her face. She dodged the attack and struck Death's smoke hidden face. She exchanged b
- Lucifer -Lucifer had stayed in the hut long after Death left. He had been staring at the board endlessly, to the point that he could see images of it when he blinked. The scenarios he had run through in his head had pervaded all of his other thoughts. Even thinking about the five traveling to Heliopolis would be interrupted by a connecting thought of how he would deal with their respective magics. These thoughts combined with the fact that he was in two minds about having Peter stay around made it difficult for him to think about much else. He trusted Peter's strength, but couldn't help picturing him die. The true risk of this war had set in. It wasn't that he had thought things would go perfectly fine, and everyone would get a happy ending, just that he had confidence from his prior victory in the Underground. He pictured Kahvis attending to the friends and loved ones of those who died in the raid, and wondered what
- Peter, Lao, David, Sabu, Moloch -"Now it's almost fair." Moloch smiled.Moloch lifted his hand up and made a circle in the air. Blood shot up from the ground and begun spinning violently. Moloch sustained the velocity of the vortex with one hand while using the other to explode the insides of the stone pillar David and Sabu were on.Lao rushed towards Moloch. Moloch flicked his hand toward Lao, causing blood spikes to shoot up from the ground. Lao jumped over the attack and kept moving.Lao sent a quick right punch speed towards Moloch. His fist connected with Moloch's smiling face.Moloch quickly opened his hand. Blood spikes shot from his cloak into Lao. He was overjoyed in what he thought was a victory, until he saw the reborn's face.Lao had blocked his head and heart from receiving hits. He was still deeply wounded, but he wasn't done moving. His left
- Lucifer and David -(Before the main story)"I'm telling you to be more careful." Lucifer was warning David. "Double affinities don't make you invincible.""I can't afford to be more careful." David said.David was 5"9'. He had dark shaggy black hair that matched his scraggly beard. He had a slim frame that made him appear younger. He was wearing a black shirt and thick brown pants. His irises were a bright yellow color."I'm telling you this because I don't want you dragging Peter into making bad decisions." Lucifer sighed. The two were approached by a reborn woman."You two ready?" Emily asked."Hopefully." Lucifer said in David's direction.Emily was a shorter woman, standing 5"5'. Her brown hair was crew cut, and her face seemed to be permanently scrunched. She was wearing a green cloak and
- Death and Oliver -"You okay sir?" Oliver said from afar to Death."I'll be fine." Death mumbled.Oliver didn't have much interaction with Death before their meeting in Passage. He was secretly excited to get the chance to speak with him. He was going to ask if he could practice with him until he saw Death's training. It was different, it seemed more purposeful, as though he was imagining someone as he swung the scythe.'Can't imagine practicing with that.' Oliver scratched the back of his head.Death was trying to quiet everything around him. What mattered to him now was staying focused. He couldn't practice his riding with Hrom so he was stuck with just weapon and image training. So long as he kept his eyes closed he wouldn't see the eyes of the crowd and most of them wouldn't dare say anything if they thought he could hear them.Oliver was looking around
