I ended up falling asleep on the small couch in mom’s office while we talked. She didn’t wake me, she just puttered around. I could subconsciously hear her working and it soothed me to be close to her. I woke up to sparks dancing up my arm as someone rubbing their fingers up and down it. I smiled before I even opened my eyes as his scent filled my nose. Before I could open the door I felt his hand move and sparks made themselves known once again as he slipped one hand under my knees and the other under my shoulders and lifted me off the couch. He took a few steps till we were out the door and I opened my eyes finally to see him glancing at me with a soft expression.

“Hi baby,” he whispered.
