Irrelevance

Carolina recollected the day she had left her father's house, the day her father gave her out to Connor as collateral for the debt he owned. How bittered she felt seeing her father ignore her even as she cried when her uncle stopped supporting her education.

Tears clouded her vision but she refused to let them out. Indeed her biological father had hurt her but she did not want to dwell in the past. She was willing to forgive him and move on with life, besides she was somewhat happy to see that he was alive and well.

She managed to muster a smile as she made her way towards the store in a bid to greet him at least. It was going to be unfair if she sees her father whom she had not seen in ages and chooses to ignore him like he was a total stranger.

Carolina was still on it when an older woman walked towards her father, pulling a child in her other hand. The woman stopped beside her father and pulled his hands to get his attention since he was talking to the cashier at the counter.
