The sky above is dark, almost pitch black due to the absence of the stars and moon as Amarah walked towards her home after closing the clinic. She could barely see the flicker of the lights from the lamp posts ahead of her due to the thick fog that is surrounding her.
Clutching the umbrella, she had brought with her since she thought it will rain, she kept it ready as a weapon in case something will happen to her.
“You should have called Matt to fetch you,” she scolded herself as she crossed the road hurriedly.
However, the moment, she stepped on the sidewalk, everything around her had immediately vanish and only darkness could be seen surrounding her. She stood cold, clutching her umbrella tightly as she looked around her.
“Hello?” She called out, her voice cracking.
Amarah didn’t hear any respond. She took out her phone to dial Matt’s number and groaned when her
Clayton stood by the sidewalk outside the clinic and watched as Amarah unlocked the door to enter and turned over the open sign. It’s a bright and sunny Monday morning, and he observed that she still looks rattled from the nightmare she had several hours ago.Amarah, he noted, seemed to have never gotten whatever she saw in her dream out of her mind.“Are you coming inside?” She asked softly, looking at him expectantly. “Tracy will go head over heels when she sees you.”He shook his head slightly.“I have to be in a meeting in thirty minutes over some discussion on construction supplies,” he answered, lying through his teeth. He gave her an assured smile when she looked a little bit anxious. “I’ll come back after the meeting, and we can have lunch.”She nodded.“Amarah?” Clayton called out and waited for her to look at him directly. “Just so you know, in any case y
Amarah waited for Clayton that afternoon after telling her when they had lunch that he will fetch her so they can go home together. She looked at her reflection on the mirror and gently patted her hair down to keep it in place. She couldn’t explain it well, the feeling she’s having whenever she is near his presence. She knew that she should hate him, just a little bit longer for whatever he did to her. But, when Amarah tried thinking back to that day where he had kissed her without asking permission, she felt her insides melting. Clayton’s kiss had taken her by surprise, overpowering her senses that she remembered just standing there, immobile. His lips plundered hers in a deep kiss, feeling his mouth molding into hers, attacking her but gently. She raised a hand to her lips, briefly touched it and shook her head at whatever thoughts had gone inside her head.“You really should do something about your hair, Arah,” Tracy piped
Clayton looked up from the report the following day, that Liam had Lily take with her when she finally departed from their pack territory to pursue him at human territory. The report contained all the works he had left behind as well as the security reports that he noted has been rampant with the rogues behind all of it. “Everyone back at the pack all good?” He had asked after opening the door when Lily knocked on his apartment. “Did you bring what I asked you?” Lily nodded as she closed the door and placed her bag on the floor. She looked around the unit. familiaring herself with the orientation. “Also did some scouting around the neighborhood,” she answered as she took a seat on the couch. “This seems to be a safe environment. There are other wolves here, too if I may add. Perhaps rogues, who took on a different path? I admire their courage for choosing that course instead of being nuisances in ours as well as on other packs.” “Most here had no wolv
Amarah smiled thankfully at the baker after receiving her change late that afternoon. She then put them in her bag and accepted the box of pastries she chose from the glass display in front of her. She took a piece of blueberry Danish and took a bite, smiling as its sweetness. Her thoughts then drifted to Clayton as she went out from the store and starred walking back home. She starts to recall the man, who projects a manly charisma combined with an elegant flair of arrogance. Who would have thought that this type of a man will have a weakness for sweets? She smiled in amusement as she remembered that when she told him that she wants to have some dessert at the bakery near the apartment building, she saw his eyes lit up. Clayton ordered a piece of most of the display of pastries at the glass showcase. It’s been around two weeks since Clayton had arrived and occupied a unit at the back of the ground floor of the building. He made sure that he gets to droppe
Amarah abruptly jolted up, sitting up on her bed and screaming in fright. She flayed her arms restlessly when she felt someone grabbing them. She fought with all her might to keep herself from being restrained.“Mari! It’s me, Mari,” a firm voice came, breaking into her panic thoughts. “Look at me, Mari! You need to calm down.”She turned to her right and her eyes immediately filled with tears when she looked straight into her father’s eyes, who is sitting by her bed and looking at her worriedly. She flung herself to him, letting out the cries and fear gobbled up inside her. She hugged him tightly as she felt his arms wrapped around her back, one hand rubbing her back gently while the other is on her head protectively.“I’m here now, Mari,” he whispered soothingly. He kissed the side of her head. “Daddy’s here now. Everything’s going to be okay.”“I was so scared,” s
Clayton was rubbing the back of his neck worriedly as Jacklyn finally went out from Amarah’s room after checking on her when she fainted again. He looked up when she said something to her father, who is now back in human form and wearing the clothes Matt had provided for him. He watched as he entered his daughter’s room, closing the door. “She’s okay, Alpha,” Jacklyn assured when she turned and saw him looking at her expectantly. “She’s conscious now and requested to see her father. Let’s give them this time. She requested for it.” He nodded as he turned to Lily, who is sitting beside Liam, who arrived just this afternoon after requesting him to join them. He noted that Lily looked disturbed while Liam looked somewhat furious over something. “Is everything okay?” He asked patiently. Lily refused to answer while her twin brother looked at Matt hardly, who is talking quietly with Jacklyn and Gloria by the kitchen counter. “Don’t start,” she whis
Clayton looked at Gavin in surprised at the revelation he just heard. He looked at Lily, who is suddenly in deep thought, probably racking her brain for any information she might have heard about Gabriel Saville.I have not come across any Gabriel Saville, Lily linked to him in desperation.“Are you sure that he is the person that you suspected, Alpha Gavin?” He returned.“The scent you described to me is definitely him,” Gavin answered seriously. “Most males in our bloodline had the scent of mints in us combined with other scents. That fact you said wintergreen, only seals my confirmation that he is a Saville.”Matt stepped out behind Jacklyn and held out his hand. It was a small, round fruit that is a variegation of yellow and tangerine. He held it closer to Clayton.“That’s the scent we also sniffed when he was here looking for the moonstone,” Clayton stated.“This is the citrang
Clayton looked at his Beta in surprised. Of all things that he could think about what Liam will be suggesting, breaking into someone’s territory didn’t came up in his mind. He also noticed Lily giving her twin a surprised look.“Of all things that you can think of, that’s the best you can come up with?” Matt scoffed dryly.Liam stared back at him evenly.“You have a better suggestion, Doc?” He returned.“Stop it,” Lily snapped at him. She gripped her brother’s wrist tightly as if sending him a message as well. “He’s just asking because there might be another way for us to get the answers we need. We should not be careless because Gabriel Saville might discover that we’ve been there.”“That’s the only way. Break in can be done late in the evening,” Gavin suddenly agreed. He stood up and looked at Matt seriously. “How long can you be able to ma
Three years later… Clayton watched anxiously as Amarah breathed in and out as she is clutching his hand tightly on a very early Thursday morning in their room, at his house. He watched as she closed her eyes and tried to control the pain that she is going through right now. “Oh, God, that’s worst,” Amarah finally stated. “You also said the last one was worst,” Clayton countered as he wiped the beads of perspiration on her forehead. “Are you just trying to pacify me? It’s not working, I’m telling you that.” “You’re the one who put this on me,” Amarah teased him with a smile. Clayton stared at her dumbfoundedly. “Amarah, if I knew that I will be going through this as well, I would have waited a little bit more before putting that child in you,” he argued lightly. “I am not ready to go through this process.” That earned a laugh from Matt, who is sitting on one side of the room and patiently monitoring Amarah’s condition. Clayton gave him a good glare. He turned back to his wife, w
“Open your eyes, Amarah.”Amarah opened her eyes and turned towards the voice. She slowly sat up and came face to face with the most beautiful woman she had ever seen in her life. The woman looking back at her has long and thick blond hair that is way past her waist. She had clear and bright honey-gold eyes that are currently staring at her lovingly that goes perfectly well with her beautiful face. A long and pointed nose, round firm cheeks and full rosy lips. She is wearing a glittery silver floor length dress and there is something about her that made Amarah realized who she is staring at.“Oh my goodness!” Amarah exclaimed and she immediately got down on one knee on the floor and placed a fist on her heart. “My apologies for not recognizing you immediately, Goddess Selene.”“You did good, my child,” Selene said.Amarah raised her face towards her when the goddess cupped her chin. She smiled sadly. “I could have done more,” she answered softly. “But I guess I overexerted myself that
Clayton with thick tears in his eyes stood, clenching his fists tightly and watched as the fire slowly crawled up and make its way to Amarah, immediately surrounding her body. He breathed out heavily and felt his mother’s hand on his back, gently comforting him.I love you, my Amarah, he thought in his mind intently.Slowly, as if his own feet have their own brain, he took steps towards the platform until he is only a few feet away. His mother followed behind him and stayed behind his back as the heat being emitted from the fire increases. As the fire started to crawl over her body, he felt a strong gust of wind blowing at them. His mother hugged his arm and buried her face in his back until it subsided. He turned to make sure that she is okay before looking back at the fire.Another gust of wind strongly passed by and it passed directly through the fire.“What the heck -?!” He heard Gabriel from behind exclaimed. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a strong and blinding light shot down
Gabriel, with his hands inside the pockets of his jacket stared down quietly and intently at Catherine’s tomb. His eyes wandered towards the words written on her white, marble epitaph and he gripped his fists tightly. “Life is not Forever. But LOVE is.” He glanced up a bit when he heard a howl in the air, signifying the end of the mourning period. For Amarah. Instead of the tradition’s usual five days of mourning, King Atticus had decreed that the observation of mourning for Amarah will be extended for two more days. This is because of the influx of wolves from all over the kingdom that wanted to pay their last respects to the Saville woman, who had unselfishly given her all to treat those who needed her help. And it has been seven days as well that Gabriel has been visiting his mate’s tomb and would just stand there for hours without saying anything. Gabriel heard some rustling behind and he raised his head up and waited. “Everyone’s starting to gather at the grounds,” Conrad i
Amarah stared up at the ceiling, breathing slowly and deeply. She turned weakly at the sound of the door opening and as hard it is for her, her lips raised upwards into a smile when she saw Clayton entering the room.“H-Hey,” she called out, raising her hand.Clayton immediately went to her side and clasped her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it gently. He sat down on the chair by the bed and looked at her lovingly, his eyes red.“You… You look beautiful,” Clayton said achingly.“Thank you,” she whispered. She coughed lightly and then took a deep breath. “Matt said… Matt said that I’m going to be okay. He told me that I just needed to rest so I can recover all the strength that I had lost.”“You shouldn’t have worked hard,” Clayton only whispered.Amarah reached for his cheek with her other hand.“I-I’m sorry,” she apologized gently. “But I did w-what I needed to do. They need my help.”Clayton clutched both of her hands gently.“W-What time is it?” She whispered softly.“It
The howling roar of rage filled the air as Clayton rushed towards Amarah, catching her in his arms before she had completely hit the ground. His eyes burned with anger and fear as blood started to soak her clothing.Conrad, shocked at what had just happened turned towards the direction and when he saw Anthony Madison, with a triumphant smile on his face, transformed immediately to Magnus and lunged towards him, pinning him on the ground and another fight had ensued. The pack members vacated the area, pulling away any injured warriors. They could hear Magnus growling and tearing the enemy apart and a few minutes later, several Gamma warriors had joined him.“Amarah!” Clayton yelled as he reached for the dagger, which he knew for sure has been dipped in Wolfsbane. “No! No! No!”“Clayton, don’t pull it out!” Jacklyn yelled as she knelt beside him. “Let me do it!”“Stay awake, Amarah,” Clayton stated over and over again as he adjusted his position so that Amarah is lying straight in his a
Clayton watched grimly as the fire consumed the dead bodies of all rogues, the orange flames snaking all over the bodies and omitting the smell of burnt skin, hair and blood. He looked up as three more bodies were added to the pile.“Are the bodies of Fullerton and Madison found?” Clayton asked hardly.“Not yet,” Liam answered. “Gab and the Quartermasters are doing the search as well. If they’re still alive, they will immediately eliminate them.”“Their actions just showed the cowardice in them,” Clayton barked angrily. He turned to his left and looked down at Conrad, leaning on a tree and panting heavily as Bradley and Jacob are tying up a clothing around his stomach. “We need to get you back home.”“I’m alright,” Conrad assured him as he finally stood up. He thumped Clayton on the back. “We need to make sure that those two are dead. We cannot be complacent.”“You were good out there,” Clayton commented seriously. “Seems your five years away from here seemed to have made your skills
Amarah opened her tired and heavy eyes when she heard a howl, more like a battle cry in the air. She immediately sat up straight and then stood up immediately when another sound came. She rushed out the office she occupied to rest for a while, her heart pounding.“What’s happening?!” She demanded loudly as she saw the wolves in the center that are strong enough to check, crowding towards the entrance of the building. She pushed her way in the crowd, her eyes straining to see what they are all looking at. “What’s going out there? Is it Clayton? Please don’t tell me it’s him!”When she finally made her way at front, she saw Matt together with Mr. and Mrs. Langston, several steps outside and looking towards one direction, his face grim. Something caught Amarah’s nose and she looked up to see dark, clouds of smoke filling the air as well as hues of dark yellow and orange.Dead bodies, she thought immediately as the sky turned more darker as the fire from afar is getting bigger and spreadi
Clayton transformed back into his human self after Kragen mercilessly ended the life of the rogue that launched at him a few minutes ago. He grabbed his dagger from the ground and immediately hurled it towards the rogue who is sneaking behind Liam.Liam turned and nodded at him thankfully as he pulled the dagger from the rogue’s head, kicking him back to the ground immediately. He handed the weapon back to Clayton.“The Saville’s had broken their inner defense circle,” Liam mentioned to him as they both thwarted a pack of rogues lunging towards them. He spit on the dead body of one. “Bradley was sent to the center a few minutes ago to have the wound on his side tended.”The battle had spread out all over the land as Clayton’s allied packs took each rogue packs to different directions to weaken the defense. He looked onwards and saw Ian Fullerton and his Beta, moving back and allowing the rogues to attack head on.“Cowards!!!” Clayton yelled at them loudly.Anthony Madison heard his sc
