A smile emitted from Dohana before she coldly said, "I don't think you have a say regarding that. I got this job on merit, so I'm staying."
Jake was seething with resentment as he stared at Dohana.
"Dohana, we have history, don't you understand? We can't work together."
"Maybe you can't, but I can. By the way, I already told mother-in-law that I got this job yesterday and she said father-in-law was very proud of me. So, don't you even think of firing me." Dohana strode out of the office thereafter, leaving Jake completely dumbstruck.
'Dohana, you think you're smart? You won't get away with this I promise you.' Jake gathered his thoughts.
When Jake left that office, she saw Dohana happily chatting with her colleague
"Will do sir," Stacy said and left.Jake smiled, thinking about how well he was dealing with Dohana, but the moment he remembered he still had to take her to meet his mother later on, a frown eliminated his grin.A few hours later that evening, Jake sent word for Dohana but he was infuriated when Stacy came back with a report."Sir, Dohana already knocked off, she said you can pick her up from home." Stacy sturdied Jake and saw the gloom on his face."Sir, what's your relationship with the Assistant Manager? Why would she be bold enough to expect you to fetch her from home?"Jake snapped back to his senses, "Stacy, it's nothing. I gotta rush. Let's meet on Monday, okay." Jake sped out of the office headed to his car.&nb
The next morning, Dohana's friends woke up early and started preparing for the engagement party. Excitement was written on their faces. They wore beautiful party dresses they had especially bought for the occasion the day before. Jean had especially organised for a limousine to pick up her daughter-in-law and her friends. She was really fond of Dohana and she thought the girl was exceptional. During their engagement party preparations meeting at the restaurant, Jean had noticed that Dohana had not asked for anything at all regarding her party. If it were other ladies, they would have demanded a whole list of things. The whole building's tenants was in an uproar once they saw the limousine parked downstairs. Everybody wanted to know who it had come to collect. Their jaws dropped when they saw the three ladies get off the elevator and walking towards the
'Beautiful, simply beautiful.' 'Who is she?' Soon they found their voice and someone said, "is this the woman getting engaged to Jake Larson? "I would have thought she was the lucky one, but looking at her, Mr Larson is the lucky one." Jake grimaced as he heard the people commenting. He was angry as he glared at the diamond necklace hanging on Dohana's neck. That's the same diamond necklace he had bought for his mother for a whooping 50 million dollars a year ago. Why is she wearing that? Does a poor girl like Dohana know what necklace is that? That's the David Morris 18 karet Trillium Akoya Pearl and Diamond necklace. How dare she wears it. Jake was sweating with exas
At the hall, Jean Larson was seeing off some of her well known guests as the attendies dispursed and departed the venue. Just then Jean turned to see Stacy coming over. She smiled and said, "Stacy Griffith, so nice of you to have come today. I really appreciate your support-" "It's my pleasure madam." Stacy smiled bitterly and continued, "by the way madam, you didn't tell me that Christine Dohana was-" Before she could finish, Jean interrupted her, "about that, I really appreciate what you did for me regarding hiring my lovely niece." Hearing that, Stacy cleared her throat and said, "you mean your soon to be daughter-in-law?" Jean was instantly blushing while she glanced sideways. "Stacy, let's forget about that ma
At the Sunlight Towers Hotel, a young couple walked in, one ahead of the other and made their way into the lobby. The woman wore a stylish party dress that kept all the man ogling at her as she dazzled through. Even the receptionist stood up to take a good look at that amazing woman. Feelings everyone's gaze upon her, Dohana flustered and held back to walk right next to Jake. "Please book a separate room for yourself," she whispered to Jake. What? Jake was surprised. His mouth curled up as a sinister plan came up. "Well, mother made the bookings. What would she say if she found out that we're staying in different rooms, huh?" Dohana's gorgeous face grimaced. Jake caught wind of it and smiled.
"Hello, hello, Jake are you there!" A voice sounded from the cellphone. "Ah, you done answered the phone, just speak already," Jake shrugged. "Umm, hello?" Said Dohana as she put the phone on her ear. "Who's this? Dohana is that you? Put Jake on the phone." Luke sounded startled to hear Dohana answer Jake's phone. 'When did their relationship get to that level?' "Well, Jake can't answer the phone right now," Dohana answered. "What? Why not? Dohana, you better put Jake on the phone now!" Jake was smiling while watching, he knew Luke had a temper. "Well, your friend is swimming butt-naked in the jacuzzi, I can't actually go over a
"Alright guys, let's go wait for them downstairs." Jake led the way. An hour later, the group arrived at an upmarket club hosted at the top of a luxurious flat. Only the most influential, rich and famous people attended such an extraordinary club. The club was already packed when Jake and his friends arrived. A waitress greeted them and led them to a VIP table. The women were quick to sit next to their partners while Dohana chose to sit next to Miley London. On their way to the club, they had gotten pretty close. The waitress then took their order and left. "Dohana sweetheart, don't be silly. Go sit next to your man," Miley said seriously. There was awkwardness at that moment. The others began to wonder if Jake and Dohana had been fighting already.
Jake had managed to turn around and head back to his seat. He smiled nonchalantly as he sat down. He didn't even mind the eyes staring at him in disbelief. "I thought I recognised her, turns out she's not the person I thought she was," Jake said and gulped down on his wine. Everyone seemed to be suppressing a laugh, while Miley and Dohana were still upset. The beautiful woman Jake had approached had turned to watch him leave. She stood up at this moment and came over to their VIP table. Her sharp eyes glanced around the ladies in quick succession. When her eyes landed on Dohana, she said, "gorgeous, what's a princess like you doing with a scum like him?" When her words fell, it sent shivers down everyone's sp
The bullet flew through the air. While Aishantha looked on at the gun quivering helplessly, a diving figure leaped across her and fell to the ground. What?Everyone's head was buzzing, did the Queen Mother really pull the trigger?Aishantha subconsciously probed her body for gunshot wounds. And when she found none, she instantly glanced at the figure lying on the floor. Her mind was boggled. It was Jake. Blood was stained all over his suit and his white t-shirt was red."No, Jake!" Princess Dohana cried, dropping to her knees and puzzled, not knowing how to help Jake at all. "Why did you do that, why?"With his eyes closed as if he was dead, Jake didn't respond.Everyone else stood there, stunned."Oh, you want to be a hero, right?" The Queen Mother said, chuckling before raising the gun towards Aishantha again. Prince Dominic quickly stepped over and blocked Aishantha completely."You...you have dissapointed me Dominic. Did you forget the plan so suddenly? You were supposed to marry
Feeling the cold blade on his neck, Prince Dominic was furious. How could he have let his guard down. As the renown Prince of Paris, and having trained on the art of combat since he was a child, how could he accept defeat by an amateur. 'Obviously this kid is no experienced fighter, and to be cheated and be outdone by him is just embarrassing. But I'm a Prince, I can't lose.' "I said, say your last words pal!" Jake yelled. Prince Dominic thought of countermeasures quickly. "Who said I've lost," after he spoke, the Prince used his left hand to squeeze Jake's injured shoulder. The Prince had thought about it. He'd hurt Jake where he previously stabbed him and then use this momentum to turn the tables. After using all his strength to squeeze and jab the injured shoulder, Jake merely glanced at his hand. Seeing Jake's smirk, Prince Dominic was astonished. Why is he not hurting? Seeing his puzzled face, Jake leaned back and used his right hand to reveal the wounded area. What?
Pin drop silence followed as all eyes gathered around the man who had just crashed into the wedding hall. Everyone couldn't help but gasp at the sight and the aura that pervaded him. He wore a stylish black suit, with a red tie; the black shades he had on gave him a mysterious demeaner. With his hands jammed into his side pockets, looking extremely relaxed, he smiled as he glanced at the audience. The Queen Mother was staring at him in total bewilderment. She couldn't figure it out. She had done her utmost best to ensure he would never be able to enter the palace, let alone the wedding venue. How did he pass through the thousands of royal soldiers defending the royal palace?"Jake!"Princess Dohana couldn't believe her eyes. She shuddered at the site of him, staggering back.'Finally, my Prince charming didn't let me down. He came to save me. He is really here. Am I dreaming? That means I don't have to marry Dominic, I don't.'As a thousand thoughts ran through Princess Dohana's mind
The atmosphere became tense in a second. Erick Vohn drew out his sword, showing a sneer as he directed his sword towards the Resistance army."How dare you try to deceive us? Do you know who I am?"Mr Heart returned a mocking smirk, "You're the general of a mutilated army.""Shut up! the general shouted, "soldiers, attack!"The royal soldiers roared and charged together simultaneously."Resistance, buckle up and get ready to defend, walls of steel!" As soon as the words resonated through the air, the Resistance formed a straight wall. One soldier had his knee to the ground, the other stood behind him blocking the abdomen, their shields both blocking the opponent. Behind them, the soldiers pushed them hard to resist. When the oncoming traffic of royal soldiers clashed against the wall, they bounced off and stabilised their feet before rushing back. After several attempts, the soldiers began to wonder what was up about the wall? How could their opponents be so strong. Seeing this scen
As the sun rose in the east, Princess Dohana opened her eyes and she couldn't help sighing with emotions. Today was her wedding day but she was sad. She had always imagined her wedding day would be the happiest day of her life. But instead, it promised to become a dreadful day.Soon Princess Dohana picked herself up and prepared to head over to the bathroom to wash up but to her surprise, a man was sitting on a chair looking at her attentively."Prince Dominic!"The Prince smiled and said, "you look even more beautiful when you're sleeping so peacefully."Feeling intruded, Princess Dohana stepped back instinctively and said, "what are you doing here? Don't you know the groom is not supposed to see the bride on the morning of the wedding?"The smile on the Prince's face was quickly replaced by a lazy sneer. "Oh please, cut the crap. It's not like you really want to get married to me."Princess Dohana looked down as she saw his gloomy face.Seeing her so docile, Prince Dominic stood up
The atmosphere in the hall changed, one could cut the air between the Queen Mother and Princess Dohana with a blunt knife. The silence that reigned, if you dropped a pin, it could be heard clearly. Between the royal family, it was Dorah who recovered first. Her sharp eyes stared down the Princess and she couldn't hide her disgust. "You...Dohana, how could you be this stupid? What marriage are you talking about?" Sirah also added, furrowing her brows, "do you mean you're married officially? Like legally?" The Queen Mother cackled out of nowhere. The voice was so loud that it echoed throughout the hall as everyone looked at each other in dismay. "Child, don't tell me you got drunk and had an accidental wedding." The Queen Mother continued to laugh. "No. Your majesty, it was a sober day when I got married." "Shut up!" Dorah scolded angrily. 'How shameless can this woman be?' "You shut up, okay!" Dohana retorted, pointing her fore-finger across the lot. "I don't need any of your
At the royal palace, the pre-wedding festivities were still thriving at midnight. Earlier that evening, the Queen Mother had even set up a celebration banquet for the wedding. Everyone had been drinking all night and this time, most of them were drunk. The Prince of Paris, Dominic, kept the crowd alive with his humourous stories. The crowd kept bellowing with laughter. "Imagine, without a penny to his name. A nobody still wants to marry the Princess?" A roar of laughter followed. Raising his voice, Prince Dominic continued. "Huh, trying to wrestle the Prince for his bride? That's like a lightweight trying to wrestle a heavyweight. He has his eyes on the throne? We might as well hand over the kingdom to a peasant." More cachination ensued. Suddenly, the door to the Banquet hall banged open and general Bengy Dowson strode in with a panic. The sudden sound attracted everyone in the hall as they turned to stare. Seeing the serious face of the general, the hall went so silent you cou
All the soldiers glared at the man in disbelief. How could they believe that they had travelled all the way to the Andorrian boarder for nothing. If this was possible, it would mean that they had been tricked all the way here and would not be able to return to El-Tarter on time. Crazy..."What nonsense are you talking about?" Said Bengy Dowson, feeling embarrassed and disgruntled about the possibility of this truth.Mr Goodson took a few deep breaths, walking over with a dertemined look on his face. "General, it's all true. When I returned back to El-Tarter last night, I followed those farmers back to their camp, only to find that they are part of the resistance. They pretended to be returning to the mountains just to avoid your trouble."Hearing this, Mr Dowson turned around to look at the windy mountains. They suddenly felt so abondoned and disolate."General, don't waste your time exploring the mountains. We don't have enough time, let's rush back immediately to catch them unaware
A few hours later, on the outskirts of the El-Tarter, a thousand royal soldiers marched toward the east. The general Bengy Dowson led the men, riding alongside him was none either than Mr Goodson. As the men passed by a narrow path, they saw a few men farming near the river. The general raised his hand up and everyone stopped."Quickly, ask those men if they saw the bandits pass by here lately."A soldier ran down quickly and soon returned."My lord, the farmers say thousands of men passed by here some eight hours ago. They recognised some of them as the mountain bandits."Hearing this, both Bengy and Mr Goodson nodded, but the latter was skeptical. Just as Mr Dowson was about to signal for them to continue, Mr Goodson spoke."Wait, Mr Dowson, don't you think there's something strange going on here?" Mr Goodson said while staring at the farmers."What do you mean," Bengy glared at him suspiciously."Look at it like this," Mr Goodson said, pointing to the farmers. "Why does it seem li
