Chapter 517

Caroline wore a white bathrobe. Her complexion was sallow, and her hair was clipped up. She approached Summer and said, "Wait a minute. I need to tell you something."

Normally, Caroline would be resting in the room at that hour. Since she had suddenly looked for Summer, it meant that something serious had happened.

Summer noticed that Caroline's expression was very unnatural. The latter looked very worried.

"Did something happen, Mom?" Summer asked.

Caroline didn't reply immediately. She seemed to be contemplating something. Perhaps, she found it hard to speak because she didn't know what to say.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Summer asked again. At the same time, she realized that Caroline was scrutinizing her as if she were searching for something.

Summer thought that there was something on her face and touched her own face. Yet, it was clean. Why was Caroline staring at her then?

"Mom, what do you want to say? Has something happened?"

This seemed to snap Caroline out of her daze.
