CHAPTER 2

Olivia thought George Roland just wanted to send her away and didn’t want to see her again. But what she didn’t expect was that George Roland sent her to a mental hospital. How ridiculous it was that such a clear-minded person like her was sent to a mental hospital. The room was filled with a foul smell.

She huddled in the corner with two other women, one around seventeen or eighteen years old, and the other looked like she was in her thirties or forties. The teenage girl held a tattered doll quietly by the window, muttering something. The other middle-aged woman with messy hair sat motionless on the bed, staring at Olivia.

Her piercing gaze made Olivia feel numb. Olivia watched the woman nervously, afraid that she might do something harmful to her. The woman waved her hand and smiled kindly, little girl, come over here. Olivia Smith hesitated but moved closer to the woman because she was afraid of getting her angry. When the woman called her again, her tone was different, even impatient.

But as soon as Olivia approached the woman, she suddenly changed her expression, her face twisted into a grimace, and she grabbed Olivia's hair when she wasn’t paying attention. You slut, how dare you steal my husband? I’ll kill you today? Olivia cries out in pain, trying to break free from the woman's grip, but her strength is surprisingly strong. After finally breaking free, the woman slapped Olivia hard and fast like thunder.

Olivia's face was instantly marked with a red handprint, her head ringing and ear buzzing from the blow. You deserve it, you woman, I’ll do justice to you today and kill you. The hospital room fell silent for a moment, but before Olivia could resist, the woman grabbed her hand and bit down hard.

The intense pain made Olivia cry out, and a clear tooth mark was visible on her light-skinned arm, still bleeding. The crazy woman showed no sign of letting go, biting Olivia's hands and feet relentlessly. Olivia finally managed to break free and ran towards the door, desperately pounding on it. Help! She’s attacking me!

Doctor! Just as the crazy woman was about to pound on her, the door opened. The nurse is here, with a fierce look on her face she asked; What is going on? Why the noise? The crazy woman suddenly quit, looking scared.

Olivia pleaded with the nurse, showing her the wound on her arm. Please let me change rooms, she’s going to hurt me. The nurse looked at Olivia impatiently. If you don’t provoke her, will she hurt you? Why are there so many problems every day? Besides, you are the patient Mr George specially instructed us to take care of.

Can I just let you change rooms? The words “person Mr George instructed us to take care of” hit Olivia hard. She slid down the wall and curled up on the floor, holding her knees.

Whether she was guilty or not, all evidence pointed to her, and she was the criminal.

George Roland would never believe her again. Was this the punishment he spoke of for her? Being arranged in this hospital room was his decision, even if it wasn’t, it was still tacitly approved.

Olivia closed her eyes in pain, letting tears flow down her face. A young girl who was once proud of herself has lost everything in just two days, even becoming a so-called mental patient. She was no longer the confident and extravagant Olivia from before. Perhaps one day, she would truly become a lunatic like every other patient here!

The nurse left and the door was shut heavily.

The crazy woman returned to her original state. Olivia let the woman hit her with her fist, no longer resisting. The crazy woman continued to curse, you slut, you stole my husband, you will be struck by lightning. Olivia held onto her body tightly.

Three years later.

A fire broke out unexpectedly completely burning the mental hospital, leaving only ruins.

Olivia was lucky to have survived. She looked at the place where she had spent three years, now turned to ashes.

To her place was hell, but also the starting point of her rebirth. I will live well for you.

The image of that girl appeared in Olivia's mind. The girl who held a doll and called her sister.

That day, the mental hospital was on fire, and the blazing flames had already illuminated half of the sky.

Sister, I can’t hold on anymore, you have to live well and live for me.

Not wanting to dwell on heart-wrenching thoughts, Olivia turned and left, still wearing the dirty hospital gown.

She was extremely thin, her once delicate cheeks now covered in a layer of yellow and black skin, rough to the touch.

The hospital gown on her body was like a child wearing adult clothes, extremely ill-fitting.

The sky started to drizzle, making the already chilling early autumn weather even colder. Olivia tightened her clothes and walked aimlessly along the roadside. She didn’t know where to go. She no longer had a home, and she thought she would spend the rest of her life in the mental hospital, but now she couldn’t even find a place to go.

She lowered her head and silently counted her steps, the only thing she could do to pass the time there. Accidentally Olivia bumped into someone, immediately bending down to apologize, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.

After three years in the mental hospital, all her arrogance and confidence had been wiped away, leaving only humility and silence. The other person recoiled as if they had seen a ghost, covering their mouth and nose, and then came the disgusted voice. Crazy person, don’t you look where you are going when you walk? Olivia just kept on apologizing with her head down.

The other person was a middle-aged man in his forties. Seeing her in a hospital gown, he sneered and said, indeed she’s crazy. If you are crazy, stay in the mental hospital and don’t come out to scare people.

Get out of the way! Don’t block the road, the middle-aged man pushed Olivia hard, causing her to hit the roadside guardrail. Blood immediately gushed from her forehead, and Olivia numbly raised her thin arm to wipe her face, which was now covered in blood, making her look terrifying. Olivia, who hadn’t eaten for a day, had no strength to get up and could only lean against the guardrail to sit up. Passerby couldn’t help but look at the woman with blood all over her face and shake their heads in pity. Some even threw her a few coins or pieces of bread.

She was really hungry and stared at the dusty bread for a long time, swallowing her own saliva. Finally, she slowly reached out and took the bread, then wolfed it down. In the insane asylum, there was hardly any non-rotten bread or meals. She either ate what others had left or ate rotten food. She even found this bread delicious.
