Takumi POV

“Who said I was?” She asked.

“Then it's true.”

“I didn't say that it is.”

“And you didn't deny it either. So, which is it?”

“Fine. It's true, I was pregnant. So what?”

I honestly didn’t expect her to admit it right away but then again, she’s a terrible liar so I would’ve gotten the truth either way.

“How did you know?” She asked.

“Sora dropped a hint by asking me if anything unusual was going on with you before we split. I remembered all the weird things that were going on with you. I didn’t want to believe it because of the pills but I guess the effects wore off. And it made everything make sense. Why didn't you tell me when you found out?”

“I told you that I'm not your problem anymore, so you don't have to bother yourself with me.”

“Were you ever going to tell me?”

“Obviously not. What part of “you're dead to me” was unclear?”

I won’t lie, her words cut deep.

“So, how's the baby?”

“I don't think that it's any of your concern.”

“Actually, because I'm the father, it is.”

“Funny, I don’t remember ever giving a damn about that bit of information.”

“Ok, you're just being difficult.”

“There it is. And here I was thinking that you said all that you needed to about me but of course, you weren't done. If there's you want to add more, then go ahead and finish so I can leave and never come back.”

“You know that's not what I meant.”

“Do I?”

“Yes, you do.”

“I thought I knew you but turns out I didn’t. So, I have no fucking clue what you meant.”

“That’s not fair.”

“Oh, that’s such a shame. I’m playing the world’s tiniest violin for you.”

“Did you just come here to fight, and hurl insults my way?”

“Well, I wouldn’t be here if your sister hadn’t decided to trick me. All I’m doing is making the most of this situation.”

“I know that you’re still angry and that I’m your least favourite person. I get it but it doesn't mean I don’t want to care.”

“That was a waste of oxygen.”

“What?”

“Don't you think that I know better than to believe or trust anything you say? You lost my trust and now, you have to live with the consequences. And we both know that you wouldn't be saying all that if there was no baby in the first place.”

“But...”

“Don’t bother. But since you wanted to know so badly, I got an abortion. Before you say anything, I don’t want your excuses because that’s all they are. Excuses. And I don't want your apology either because it's pointless. When you break a plate and say sorry to it, does it repair itself? No, it doesn't so spare me whatever longwinded speech you had prepared.”

Third-person POV

They sat there in silence.

“I lied.” She confessed.

“Hmm?”

“I lied about getting an abortion but there was no point if she's just outside anyway. And it does save me the trouble of vaguely answering any questions she might ask about you.”

“I already knew that you were lying, and it was a little overkill.”

“I thought by now, you’d realise that opening your mouth isn’t doing you any favours.”

As if on cue, Sora came in with Natsumi.

“Hey, she wants you. She said she’s sleepy.”

Twilight went over to take her. afterwards, Sora left them alone.

“Thanks.”

“So that's her, huh?” He asked.

“Yeah, and her name is Natsumi.”

“I see.” He smiled.

“Let's get one thing straight: I’m not going back to you. I’m not going to let her grow up seeing me pretend to be happy. I’ll be damned if she thinks that it’s ok or that she doesn’t have choices. I don’t have to like you either.”

“Understandable.”

“If we're going to make this whole co-parenting thing work then it's going to be on my terms. First, you stay out of my business like I'm doing with yours. The only person whose business you should involve yourself in is Natsumi's. Second, I don't want to fight with you in front of her and I won't as long as you follow the first term. Third, you can be involved in her life as much as you, I don't care but if she sheds even one tear because of you then I won't let you off so easily like last time. To put it simply, you damn well better be the best dad you can be to her. And fourth, I'll only let her visit if and when she wants to and if she ever decides that she doesn't want to see you anymore, which I’m praying happens, then that's that. Am I clear on all that?”

“Crystal.”

“Do you still live in the same place?”

“No, I moved back in with my parents.”

“I'll let you know through Sora when I'm bringing her over.”

Twilight POV

I got up to leave. Luckily, Sora left the door unlocked. I was ready to rip it off its hinges.

“Hansuke, what are you doing here?”

“I live here.”

“But isn't this her place?”

“It is.”

“So, it's not yours?”

“No, it is.”

Oh, so they're living together. Ok, that's new. Well, to me it is.

“Since when did you two start living together?”

“A couple of months after we started dating,” Sora answered.

“What about that guy your dad told me about?” I asked. “You know, the one you wanted to marry even though you just met him.”

“I'm that guy,” Hansuke said.

“What?”

“Let me summarise the long story. It all started the year after I met you, it was also the year I met her. She was picking up Takumi from my place and I thought that it'd be the first and last time I'd see her. But surprise surprise, she shows up at my door the next day to confess her love. And get this, she didn't stop there. She went on to how we'll get married and have kids and then grandkids. At which point I stopped her; told her she was nuts and closed the door. You'd think she'd get the message but, not surprisingly, she didn’t, and she became a pest who wouldn't stop harassing me. I thought she'd grow tired of it, but years passed, and she didn't. Eventually, she started growing on me and I decided to give it a shot. That's pretty much it.”

“You forgot to add that we're happy,” Sora added.

“That too. Not that we’re trying to rub in your face or anything.”

I'll be honest, that story sounds a little familiar. If you know what I mean.

“You know what, good for you two. Honest. But please, don't ever let her pull this crazy stunt.”

“Trust me, if I knew about it, I would’ve put a stop to it.”

A consideration.“Why?” She asked.“It's...well...”“Is it because you doesn't like Papa?”“What makes you say that?”“You not sad when he not here and he don't live with us too and me don't see a wing on it.”Wow. I guess this is one of the consequences of having a pup who takes after you.“Is Papa bad?”“Not really. We’re just not together. Anyway, enough of that; you need to get your sleep.”“Ok. Love you, Ma

After much searching, I finally found the Alpha I was looking for. She seemed to be enjoying herself and did not notice me approaching her.“What an interesting dream you are having, Alpha. Most people dream of things they do not have but wish to obtain. But I assume you are not one of them.”Her startled expression amused me. Oh my, it would seem that I nearly scared her to death. But I do not blame her, she did not expect someone else to be here. And it is not every day, or rather night, that the Moon Goddess herself visits your dream.“You’re…”“Yes. But please, call me Luna.”“Isn't it supposed to be Selene?”“I just like the name Luna more than Selene.”“Sorry, it just makes you sound...”“As though I am an Alpha's mate? Twilight POVAs I pulled up to our destination, I realised that I had no clue what I'm going to say to Toshi. It's too late to back out now so I might as well see this through to the end. It’s not as if I had a choice because the wonderful thing that I'm supposed to call my brain decided to make my legs move without my permission and before I knew it, I was ringing the doorbell. Thanks a lot, brain. The last person I expected to answer was Toshi. He really grew up. Hell, he's really been hitting it up in the growth department. I’ll be honest, I’m a little jealous that he’s taller than me. He’s a little on the lanky side but he'll probably grow out of it. Sure, I can't pick him up like I used to, but it's a small price to pay. I mean, I can but it’d look very weird.“Mom!”Puberty is clearly not showing him any mercy with that sort of but not quite scratchy-sounding voice. I actually had to keep myself from laughing. It would’ve also been a little mean since he didn’t ask for that to h

Twilight POVYou'd think that I'd be angry or something close to that, but I just laughed as if I'd just heard the best joke of all time. It was the kind of laugh that made your stomach hurt and had you wheezing. The kind where you'd even start crying.I should probably stop because he's looking at me as if I've finally lost it and belong in a mental institution. And my stomach was starting to hurt too.“Don’t mind me. I was just laughing at the bittersweetness of the situation. Believe me, you'd be laughing too if you were in my shoes.”“Aren't you upset?”“No.” I shrugged. “I've already made it clear to your brother that I want nothing to do with him.”“Are you sure?”“Yeah, you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine.”Actually, it stung a little. But I can get over it. It’s not as if I ever expected him to put his life on hold for me or whatever.“Oh.” He went quiet for a while. “How is Oreo?”“Do you want the full story or…”“I think the full story would be better.”“Well, a few m

Twilight POV“I thought I’d at least have to buy you dinner a few times before that ever happened,” He said.“Funny, but no. I’m serious.”“What brought it on?”“It’s more of a contract marriage, under pack laws obviously. You don’t have a mate and your pack is probably pushing for you to have one, right?”“Yes, but…”“Ok. I don’t have any interest in finding one myself so no issues from my side. I’m offering marriage as a form of truce and trade between our packs. The only catch is that I don’t want to sleep with you and we’re not going to share a living space. In other words, we’ll stay in our respective packs and live separate lives. It also means no marking and no mating ceremony. That being said, it’s an open marriage and I won’t care whom you’ll fool around with. But have the decency to cover your tracks because I will not let you humiliate me or get away with it. Also, we’re not telling anyone who we’re married to until after we get the marriage certificate. Twilight POV“Twilight, do you think I'll ever find my mate?” Mitsu asked.“Yeah. It’s just a matter of time.”“But it’s taking forever. I'm starting to wonder if he even exists. What if he’s still in diapers or worse, still in the womb?”“I think you’re being a little paranoid and impatient. Anyway, you're always trying to set me up with someone, so I think it's time you use your matchmaking skills on yourself.”“I guess I'll think about it. Anyway, I should get going.”“Before you go, can you take Natsumi to her room for me? I'd prefer it if she naps in her crib instead of on the couch at least once in a while.”“Sure.”I burped her before giving her to Mitsu, along with Frank of course. Can't forget that these two are a package deal.“Bye, Mama.” She waved sleepily and her eyes were already half-closed. It was so cute that it melted my heart. It's not wrong for me to wish that she never grows up, right? I mean, she's the only pup I have so it isn't.That wholesome moment was cut sh

Twilight POVDuring the meeting, in the so-called ‘Great Room’, everyone was reluctant to agree with him being here, especially Mitsu's parents. But after explaining the entire situation and coming up with a few solutions, we reached a comprise. I then mind-linked the whole pack about a meeting tomorrow.I’ve always wondered why it was called the ‘Great Room’ instead of the ‘Conference Room’ since there’s nothing great about it except that it’s where the pack’s higher-ups have meetings. If anything, the Throne Room, or Grand Hall should’ve been called the ‘Great Room’ but whatever. We’re all used to it so there’s no point in changing it.“How could you?” Mitsu asked after the meeting.“In case you haven't noticed, it's the only solution there is, and he agreed to it himself. I don't see what the problem is.”“Of course, you don't because you didn't think about how I'd feel knowing that my best friend is going to torture my mate. You never know who might pop in through it.”“Thanks for the practical example, but some of us like letting in fresh air while we're working. And I was going to shut it once I was done. What are you doing here anyway?”“I said that I'd think about what you said but not that I wouldn't try my luck. That being said, would you like to join me on a walk?”“Did you seriously come through the window

    1. Book 2 was never planned. It’s literally based on me putting two brain cells together to come up with ideas cuz the first book exhausted the rest of my brain cells, and I obviously didn’t expect to be writing a book 3. I was going to write one, but now it’ll be book 4 (we’ll get to that another time). 2. Natsumi’s name was originally Hakumei because it translates to twilight. Then I changed it to Koharu (which means little sun) because of her blonde hair, but I decided to make it Natsumi because...I just liked it better ok. 3. Back to the second point, Natsumi was originally blonde like Takumi, but I changed her colour to black to make the genetics thing a little more realistic. 4. In the beginning, Twilight and Trey were already supposed to be together (as in during those three years, she and Trey made up), but I don’t know why I didn’t add it in. 5. Twilight wasn’t supposed to have two wolves, but I thought it would be cool, so I added that. 6. Twilight and Trey were suppose

This is where the second book ends (yay). I’m ending it here because I felt that the storyline was starting to get too long for one book. This means that there’ll be a third book, but (drumroll) it’ll be part 2 of this one. But I’m calling it Mates and Temptations because The Pains of Guilt Part 2 didn’t sound catchy. And as a special little something, I added a bonus chapter after this one and a little blurb about the third book. I don’t have an exact date for when I’ll release book 3 because when it comes to my writing, I hate deadlines (they make me rush things and it affects the quality of my writing). The only reason I had one for this book is that I already had a lot of chapters ready for release long before I finished the first book. Anyway, book 2 will be available for purchase from retailers around mid-January or the first week of February (there's a ton of editing I need to do while also working on book 3). Blurb: Twilight and Trey have finally reconciled and accepted each

That.” Is he serious? “That's all you have to say?” I asked. “I was supposed to say more?” “Ok. Well, this is unbelievable.” “It's not as if I can deny it, and besides, it’s just a picture.” “Just a picture? Actually, I'm more surprised by the fact that you're even calling it a picture.” “C'mon, it's not that bad.” Not that bad? You mean there's more?” I'm having a flashback of all the not-so-graceful moments I've had while he was around. Twilight POVIt’s been almost two weeks since I last spoke to him. Everything is supposed to be fine now, or at least I thought it’d be. This whole thing is bothering me, and it’s not supposed to.I want to call him, but call him and say what? I could start by apologising for bringing up the two-mates thing out of nowhere. Then what? I’ve been staring at my phone, with her contact on the screen, for who knows how long. Other than that, I do other small things, like helping out in the kitchen whenever we have a pack dinner and the farms on Mondays and Wednesdays. I mostly got into all that after Natsumi’s dad and I split up to keep myself busy.
