Twilight POVDuring the meeting, in the so-called ‘Great Room’, everyone was reluctant to agree with him being here, especially Mitsu's parents. But after explaining the entire situation and coming up with a few solutions, we reached a comprise. I then mind-linked the whole pack about a meeting tomorrow.I’ve always wondered why it was called the ‘Great Room’ instead of the ‘Conference Room’ since there’s nothing great about it except that it’s where the pack’s higher-ups have meetings. If anything, the Throne Room, or Grand Hall should’ve been called the ‘Great Room’ but whatever. We’re all used to it so there’s no point in changing it.“How could you?” Mitsu asked after the meeting.“In case you haven't noticed, it's the only solution there is, and he agreed to it himself. I don't see what the problem is.”“Of course, you don't because you didn't think about how I'd feel knowing that my best friend is going to torture my mate. I know you're looking out for me but just because your f
Later that night…Twilight POV“Lovely night we're having, isn't it?”I turned around only to find Alex sitting by the window.“And you could've used the door like a normal person,” I told him.“I'm not normal and the window is much faster.”“And pretty much the easiest way to get hurt.”“But I didn't.”“The guards could've mistaken you for someone trying to break in.”“Not if I told them I was going to do this and asked for permission.”“And they just let you?”“Does mind control count?”“Obviously not.”“In other news, you really should make sure that your window is shut properly at this time. You never know who might pop in through it.”“Thanks for the practical example, but some of us like letting in fresh air while we're working. And I was going to shut it once I was done. What are you doing here anyway?”“I said that I'd think about what you said but not that I wouldn't try my luck. That being said, would you like to join me on a walk?”“Did you seriously come through the window
Twilight POVThe next day, I went to visit Shin after the meeting.“I came to tell you what your verdict is. Unfortunately for you, you got collaring.”“I think deep down, I knew it was coming.”“If it makes you feel better, it’s a whole lot better than I had planned for you. And your sentence is three weeks long and starts in half hour so use that time to mentally prepare yourself or whatever else you want to do. You’ll still get food and water.”“Alright. I’m going to take a chance and ask where your mate is.”“Who said that I have one?”“You have a pup, don't you?”“Says who?”“Well, anyone would think that if they set foot into your office for the first time. There were a lot of toys and baby stuff lying around.”To be fair, keys and her own toes aren't good enough as a distraction anymore. And it doesn't always look like that. Usually, everything is packed into a corner, that is until Natsumi gets her hands on them. Why she likes coming in there to play with her toys or take a na
Third-person POV“Here we are,” Alex said. “Let’s go.”He took her into the palace, up a few flights of stairs and past various rooms until he got to the one he wanted to get to.“You can change in here. There’s also a stocked bathroom if you need to freshen up.”“Ok.”When she went in, she was greeted with a black, strapless, high-low, organza ball gown that had silver beading on the bodice arranged in a way that resembled lacework. The belt was just a simple silk ribbon that formed a bow at the back and the front of the skirt looked like it would reach somewhere around her knees while the back looked like it might be floor length. She also saw that it came with a lace gloves shawl that matched the belt. It didn’t look like a shawl but more like a feather boa except made of silk instead of feathers. It didn’t take any effort for her to put two and two together to see where all this was going. She decided to just roll with it and was glad that she had already showered so she wouldn’t
Takumi POVI found myself opening my eyes and feeling kind of groggy. I guess I fell asleep.“I was wondering when you'd wake up.”I looked to my side and found Twilight sitting cross-legged next to me.“How long was I out?” I asked.“I don't know.” She shrugged “I only got here an hour ago.”An hour? I was about to ask what she was doing the whole time until I noticed the book on her lap. Some things never change.“Why didn't you wake me up?” I asked.“Natsumi was sleeping peacefully, and it would've woken her up. Also, I'm in no hurry to be anywhere. I think she'll want to say goodbye to you, so I'll wait until she wakes up.”“Oh.”She went back to reading and we pretty much sat in awkward silence. At least, for me it was. I'm not sure about her.“August 7th.” She said.“What about it?”“I realised that I didn’t tell you when's her birthday. It's August 7th.”“Oh. Is that why you named her Natsumi?”“No, I thought it was a nice name. It was just a coincidence. Earlier today, she ask
The next day…Twilight POVI arrived at the address I was given. It wasn't as far as I thought it was, just an hour's drive from the pack in a nearby suburb. It was a pretty quiet place and from the scents I got, it was also filled with humans. A wolf and a demon living together among humans. I wonder how well that worked out., and human. Wow.I knocked on the door and waited. Honestly, I don't know how to feel. Nervous? Happy? I don't even know what I should say. I mean, supposedly, I haven't seen them in 13 years. But even so, I only found out a few hours ago that they exist. Come to think of it, why didn't my dad bring it up years ago? Actually, considering the past few years, I can see how he never really got the chance to.I was snapped out of it when someone answered the door. It was an elderly man, definitely over 6 feet tall. He didn't exactly look elderly, but I assumed that he would if he was in his late fifties or early sixties. He looked good for his age and by that, I mea
Third-person POVShe came back home after taking Natsumi to see Takumi for a couple of hours and found her dad waiting for her.“How did it go?” Her dad asked.“It was a little awkward at first but it wasn’t too bad. So pretty ok, I think.”“I'm glad you're handling this well.”“Well, I can’t believe you were basically gossiping about me with my grandparents.”“I… have no idea what you’re talking about.”“Unreserved and anti-social. Do those two words ring a bell?”“I just… you know… it was a spur of the moment.”“You don’t think I believe that, do you?”“Maybe.”“I’m not mad, just disappointed.”“Did you just use my own line against me?”“Yeah. You should probably get used to it.”Later that day, she and Youhei went to set Shin free. He involuntarily shifted and was too weak to move. She put a blanket over him.“Has it been a month already?” He weakly asked.“No, just a week.”“Is this a break?”“Sort of. I’ll explain everything once you get to the hospital.”She got a pair of parame
Twilight POVAs usual, she disappeared just before I woke up. Honestly, that was the most disturbing conversation I've ever had with her.The bed felt more occupied than usual. I wonder...Oh, never mind. Natsumi was in it. She must have gotten in while I was asleep again. I don't mind but a little heads-up would be nice before I get a heart attack one of these days. I got out while trying not to wake her up and disappeared into the bathroom. By the time I'd finished getting ready, she was awake.“Hi, Mama.”“Hey, baby. Why didn't you tell me that you wanted to sleep with me?”“Didn't wanna wake you.”“It's ok if you wake me up. C'mon, let's get you ready.”For obvious reasons, I always bathe her after feeding her.“What do you want to wear?” I asked her.“That and that.”She pointed to her pinafore dress and striped turtleneck. I wasn't expecting that since it isn't her usual choice but who am I to judge?“Ok, but I’m also throwing in a pair of leggings and a jacket because it’s cold
1. Book 2 was never planned. It’s literally based on me putting two brain cells together to come up with ideas cuz the first book exhausted the rest of my brain cells, and I obviously didn’t expect to be writing a book 3. I was going to write one, but now it’ll be book 4 (we’ll get to that another time). 2. Natsumi’s name was originally Hakumei because it translates to twilight. Then I changed it to Koharu (which means little sun) because of her blonde hair, but I decided to make it Natsumi because...I just liked it better ok. 3. Back to the second point, Natsumi was originally blonde like Takumi, but I changed her colour to black to make the genetics thing a little more realistic. 4. In the beginning, Twilight and Trey were already supposed to be together (as in during those three years, she and Trey made up), but I don’t know why I didn’t add it in. 5. Twilight wasn’t supposed to have two wolves, but I thought it would be cool, so I added that. 6. Twilight and Trey were suppose
This is where the second book ends (yay). I’m ending it here because I felt that the storyline was starting to get too long for one book. This means that there’ll be a third book, but (drumroll) it’ll be part 2 of this one. But I’m calling it Mates and Temptations because The Pains of Guilt Part 2 didn’t sound catchy. And as a special little something, I added a bonus chapter after this one and a little blurb about the third book. I don’t have an exact date for when I’ll release book 3 because when it comes to my writing, I hate deadlines (they make me rush things and it affects the quality of my writing). The only reason I had one for this book is that I already had a lot of chapters ready for release long before I finished the first book. Anyway, book 2 will be available for purchase from retailers around mid-January or the first week of February (there's a ton of editing I need to do while also working on book 3). Blurb: Twilight and Trey have finally reconciled and accepted each
Twilight POV Crap. Busted. Wait, no, I haven't done anything yet, so I'm not busted. In fact, why am I acting guilty of doing something I didn't do when I should be pissed right now? “How many?” I asked. “Can you ask a normal question, so I know what you're talking about?” I showed him the wallpaper. “Oh. That.” Is he serious? “That's all you have to say?” I asked. “I was supposed to say more?” “Ok. Well, this is unbelievable.” “It's not as if I can deny it, and besides, it’s just a picture.” “Just a picture? Actually, I'm more surprised by the fact that you're even calling it a picture.” “C'mon, it's not that bad.” Not that bad? He's practically asking me to throttle him right here and now. “Besides, it's my favourite one,” He continued. “Favourite one? You mean there's more?” I'm having a flashback of all the not-so-graceful moments I've had while he was around. And they're a lot. “Yeah.” “Tell me you're joking.” “I'm not.” “I'm never getting comfortable around y
Third-person POVThe next day, Natsumi came into Twilight's room and jumped on her causing her to wake up.“Happy biwthday, Mama.”“Thank you, honey, but you don't have to wake up me like that.”“But excited.”“Sigh. I can't stay mad at that face.”“C'mon, Mama.” She dragged her out of bed. “See pwesent.”“Ok ok. I'm coming.”She was taken to her dad's room.“So, she actually woke you up. I tried to stop her, but she was already gone.”“Pop-pop, give Mama pwesent.”“Alright.”He gave her a gift bag. Inside was a simple, white summer dress with spaghetti straps and black butterflies at the hem.“You likes it, Mama?”“Of course, I do.”“I's best pwesentew.”She didn't want to burst Natsumi's bubble
A few weeks later…Third-person POV“Happy biwthday, Papa.”“Thank you, Nugget. But how did you know it was today?”“I told her, and happy birthday.”“Oh. Thanks.”“Got you pwesent, Papa.” She gave him a gift bag and inside was a watch. “Likes it?”“Yes, I do. So, I'm having dinner with my parents later and they asked me to ask you to come over. If you want to.”“Ok but will...”“Yeah, she'll be there.”“Then I'll have to bring Trey with me. I'm not trying to get even; he'll just be there to stop me from doing something I won’t regret.”“It's alright.”Later that night...“Are you sure you want to eat that much?” Matako asked. “Or are you aiming to pack more pounds than you already have?”
The next day...Third-person POV“What time is it?” She asked.“08:05”“Oh shit.”“What?”“I was supposed to pick up her dress over half an hour ago and bring it to her five minutes ago. And the wedding is at 9...”In her hurry, she tried to get out of bed, but almost ended up falling off and landing on her face before he caught her.“Not that I'm not taking you seriously, but I think you should slow down a little before you break a bone or two.”“My best friend's been waiting 25 years for this day, and I'm not about to screw it up for her. If I have to break a bone or two, then so be it.”“Alright, but don't attack me. I was just saying.”Half an hour later...She was about to exit the shop when she got an incoming call from Mitsuri. Deciding that she'd rather deal with
Twilight POVIt’s been almost two weeks since I last spoke to him. Everything is supposed to be fine now, or at least I thought it’d be. This whole thing is bothering me, and it’s not supposed to.I want to call him, but call him and say what? I could start by apologising for bringing up the two-mates thing out of nowhere. Then what? We go back to how things were in the beginning? Honestly, that’s how things should’ve stayed, and maybe, I wouldn’t be so conflicted.Trey POVShould I call her? I’ve been staring at my phone, with her contact on the screen, for who knows how long. I don’t even know if she wants to talk to me.“How long are you going to keep staring at her number?”Daisuke was sitting in front of me.“When did you get here?” I asked.“A while ago. You were so lost that you didn’t even
The next day…Third-person POV“Ams?” Trey came into her office. She got up and ran into his arms.“I thought you’d have at least wanted me to shower first,” He said.“You do stink, but I’m already used to it. What are you doing here though? You still have two weeks left.”“I was let out for good behaviour. That or they got tired of the noise I was making every time I beat the daylights out of Daichi.”“The latter sounds more believable. Are you going back to your pack now?”“What if I said later?”“I wouldn’t mind you staying a little longer. Come on,” She took him to her room.“You can use my shower and take a nap or sleep in here afterwards. I got a few things yesterday in case you wanted to stay here, but I forgot to get men’s shower gel. The closest thing I have is a lemon-scented one.”“That’s fine as long as I get to shower. I wouldn’t want my pack to see me in such a pathetic state.”“I’ll leave you to it then. Oh, and a few of your clothes are still in my closet,” She said be
The next night…Third-person POV“May I ask you something?” Trey asked.“You already are but sure.”“I’m curious to know what you do that makes you so tired most of the time. I get that you have a pack and pup to care of, but it doesn’t always add up.”“I have a job, but I do work from home most of the time. Other than that, I do other small things, like helping out in the kitchen whenever we have a pack dinner and the farms on Mondays and Wednesdays. I mostly got into all that after Natsumi’s dad and I split up to keep myself busy. I thought I’d stop after a while, but I guess enjoy it more than I thought I would.”“Would it make any difference if I suggested that you slow down?”“No. Your words would just go in one ear and out the other.”“I thought so,” He sighed."Anyway, you never told me about what you do for work. I remember you mentioning something about pups that one time."“I'm a certified child psychologist. I like working with them, and they feel the same.”“Ah, that's why
