CHAPTER ONE-HUNDRED & TWENTY ONE

Myra's Pov

His eyes stayed locked unto mine like a vice, as he stared at me like an hieroglyphic on an ancient wall. I was hypnotized, and didn't know when I found myself lost. The energy from his gaze kept me fixed, and my hands shook as I wanted to turn away but just couldn't. His breath was steady and mine was somehow in rhythm, hanging in spurts yet still flowing. I didn't know what to do, and the room suddenly became tense; with the heat of the lantern now somehow doubling.

I sat with my legs crossed, wondering how long we would stare, when his head suddenly darted and the spell was broken.

The same time a crack of thunder clapped just outside.

And I almost jumped out of my skin as I shrieked in response to the boom; and father moved away, standing up slowly and with a blank gaze.

He got off his toes and his eyes moved to the tent flap. It swayed and struggled, and even raised off the ground. At one point, it swooped up entirely and revealed what stood beyond. And I frowned as
