Noah's Pov

Colin soon came out and now frowned all the way at me from the front door. He stood resting on one of the two pillars that held the porch roof, and now in changed clothes. He smirked as his brows went down squinting; watching me heave in fatigue.

"You seem stressed..." he laughed, shaking his head. "Need a hose?..."

I looked up and saw him in a simple shirt and trousers, both in different shades of blue. He wore a new tie and striped in black and white, and now stood with his hands folded in his pockets.

"I don't want you to pass out because of something I said you know..." he chuckled.

I turned to face him squarely now, raising myself off my knees as I straightened up slowly. I squinted in his direction from the stress inside me and the light of the sun blocking my eyes from above me.

"Haha, very funny..." I replied, groaning. I wasn't laughing, and was neither in the mood for jokes but I still answered him.

"You'll actually need nothing short of a storm and a typhoon to w

Making the bright light spread wider across the room and everything else that lurked in the darkness even more visible. While Izon moved over to the table where father had been and pulled open a drawer. He produced a key when he brought out his hands; then made his way to an iron cabinet that suddenly appeared in the midst of the incandescent light."Wh-where are we going?" I asked, shaking suddenly.Father was tying his hair back in a ponytail, as he paused and turned to me."We're going home..." he answered."Where's home?" I asked, immediately. He paused, as he spread a rubber band with his fingers, flipped it around his hair in a knot and let go as it clipped it in a bunch, then he smiled."The one you never got to know..."I paused, stunned. But then my eyes went over to Izon, now placing the key in the lock th

Noah's Pov The walk to my chambers was a strange one, and I meandered behind Colin up until we reached the front door. I had kept my facial expression blank and kept my movements as inconspicuous as possible. But on the upside, he didn't seem to care how I moved. As he only focused on his strutting, as he bound down the hallways in confidence till he rested at the door frame, waiting for me to join him."I can't wait to see a treasure chest..." he laughed. "Or maybe a big box of golden nuggets?..."I frowned at his humor. I didn't understand why he was suddenly so jovial? I knew Colin was never the man of the happy hour, and seeing him trying so hard to crack jokes disturbed me."You seem to be in high spirits Colin?" I asked, facing him as I closed the gap between us. "Mind telling me why?"But he only smiled, then shrugged."You know I would love to Noah, but it's more than I can comprehend or even express in words really..." he replied, with a smirk. My frown deepened at the p

Myra's PovThe hardest part was finally standing up from the chair. Because in the moment it felt like I had been disabled my whole life; but by some miracle I was now suddenly healed, the way father had to help me up out of it. Everything else was simply a blur.As Francis and Elora had been dragged outside, then chopped to pieces in front of my own eyes; before being thrown down into makeshift graves, while Henry was hanged on a long wooden pole. And a pole interpreted by Izon as a flag of the Rogues sincerity?I was lost in a haze as the shovel hit dirt and he covered up the grave mouths. Before hoisting Henry with a pulley system to the top of the pole. I didn't know what to say. And as I had watched him, a part of me felt guilty for not feeling any remorse. I watched three people die and felt nothing. And it disturbed me.I remembered when the door finally opened with me standing just next to it. The flood of light that rushed in on my eyes that almost blinded me, and how I fell

Noah's PovDonovan was the first to stand up, and slowly. As Danny was still reeling from the weight of his brother's body slamming down on him; and David was still trying to get his own head out of the broken cupboard. He turned, groaning, with his hands still on his head as he faced us, growing a frown as an extra feature. He stood breathing heavily as he held the look of defeat on his face; with the glint of embarrassment from a shameful one. As Colin had just taken all of them down without effort; and I felt embarrassed myself. Because I had been shaking afraid, while he stood valiantly when two arrows had been aimed almost point-blank at his head. The room was now suddenly tense and everyone else was alert now. I could feel the atmosphere drop and the air around me tighten, as everyone was now on their toes. I glanced at Colin but he still held his confident smile, with his arms folded and his head bent slightly; watching in parents curiosity at what Donovan would do next. And i

Noah's PovI frowned; slightly annoyed at the question, but still made a nod in his direction."They are friends and new family..." I replied.David and Donovan helped Danny over to the table now, and placed him in a seat. And the boy sighed as his head dropped on crossed arms over the surface. I saw Colin turn away slowly and to one of the bamboo chairs, then ease himself over the frame like it was a portal; drawing him inside itself. I felt unease at the now sullen mood of everyone in the room, and I knew that the conversation I had planned, wouldn't be as simplistic as I thought. I felt the box in my coat pocket with my fingers bunched into fists, and now it radiated a strange heat. I groaned slightly, but managed to keep a straight face as I stood in the middle of my chambers; suddenly glancing around the room. I looked over the windows, then the drawers and the bed. They hadn't been touched or tampered with. I looked over to the dead fireplace; but with the warmth of the aftern

Myra's PovI creaked in and out of sleep, as the carriage continued its path down a winding stretch of road as malleable as a snake's back. But Father had let me close my eyes and rest only because he thought I needed the energy for the activities our destination would bring. And I was grateful; not caring about saving energy, but just about finally getting a chance to forget my memories, without inflicting mental self harm. I needed it as an escape, yet it only still led me to a trap. And a trap of even more fatigue; as I woke up now and groaned, actually intending to stretch. Father stayed motionless as I turned to him, and I could see his eyes fixed and straight ahead in thought; but I could also sense, in distracting himself. I turned away and slowly to the sky, and now I noticed the sun had moved eastward, signaling late afternoon. I ran my hands through my hair, wondering how long we had been on the road? As the view up ahead was just more sandy road and trees lining on each s

Noah's PovThe silence at the table was sickening. So much so I could even hear my own thoughts through my ears. As the three brothers sat in a slanted circle in front of me, with all their heads down and facing their fingers; fiddling with them in distraction. Colin sat just ahead and beside me, close to the siblings, yet keeping his distance. While I sat at the behest of all of them, looking at the crown of their heads, at the same time looking for words to say.I trailed off as I remembered what Colin had said before now. How he raised his voice in indignation when I told him he shouldn't have attacked them. How he was unnerving and eerie in his outlook, stance, and even words, just on seeing the brothers. It seemed somehow like he knew them, and because he did, he was averse to them. Yet I hadn't the slightest idea why he was so unconcerned on seeing them? I had told him they were important, but he didn't care. And when he saw them face to face, the indifference grew wings.I stra

Izon's PovThe world was always a small space to me. With not much significance even though there was so much life in it. Because everyone was too modern for what they really were deep inside. Everyone was too detached from the truth of their very own existence. And only few people like me were willing to be honest enough to embrace the monster that hid beneath us all.I had been the first to choose the forest as a new home when we had been banished. Because I had known ever since that it was our true place. That it was where we all truly belonged, irrespective of race or power. Because unlike the others, I faced the sun that we were wolves; and knew that wolves were never meant to live in castles or under government. One of the reasons I hated the pitiful revolutionary Renaissance that the pack had taken to. The new advanced race title they had given themselves. And as an excuse to be more humane. When humanity crumbled upon itself before we were born out of its ashes.I internally d

Noah's PovThe last moments were glorious. The flash of white and the deafening sound of a strange ringing that pierced through my ears was divine. As a huge monster, and one bigger than anything I had ever laid my eyes on stood just ahead of me. Towering over seemingly all existence like a god in the flesh. It's height was closer to the sun than the clouds themselves; and if it made the effort, it's head alone in the right position could cause an eclipse. The sound of it's footsteps were like bombs dropping intermittently. And the claws that grew out of it's hands and body were the size of spears; the tips specifically sharpened for killing dragons. With it's skin white as chalk and scaly as a fish's hide.I laid flat on my back as Flanagan's blade had stopped halfway at the sound of the creature's roar. I was saved. And I stayed motionless; reeling in pain from the excess gratitude. The monster roared again, and the leader of the Rogues stood with his mouth agape as he dropped his

As I lost full control of myself, and my wolf instincts took full control of my entire being.Colin's loud yelling had attracted surprisingly hundreds of guards. But sadly they all ended in a similar fate. As I tore through and out of the dungeons with rage being my fuel and motivation. I chopped off heads and dismembered arms and legs, leaving corpses in my wake as I burst out into the sunlight. Only dimmed by smoke from burning houses and soldiers trampling stalls with maces.I roared loud and everyone's attention turned to me frantically. They all drew their swords with fear in their eyes as they looked up at me towering over them. I laid waste to more than I could count. As they kept coming in waves after wavesand kept dying in the same succession. My anger had reached a point never before seen, and now I was thirsty for blood. And blood did flow...As I tore through entire

"And my oh my, isn't that such a dilemma..." he smiled."Your very own handyman turned against you?...""How could you do this?" I asked, groaning."It's simple really..." he shrugged. "Personal interest, isn't it obvious?..." "What did they promise you?" And now he laughed loudly. His voice booming as it reverberated across the hollow and cold walls of the dungeon. He chuckled and held himself with both hands clasped together, smiling. "They didn't promise me anything, Noah..." he replied. "Well they did. But that was simply a superficial desire. Because I'm not here for anything they can offer..." he answered. "They don't even possess anything of my interest to give. Because as it stands... everything is already mine." My hands were hurting and now my soul was burning. I was confused as to why Colin could be working with the enemy? I was losing blood flow in my arms as I wondered why my own frien

Noah's PovI regained my consciousness in pure darkness. The only light being the torches that spread out amongst gray walls, giving vision as little as bird seed. The side of my head hurt with a sharp pain as blood flowed down my face, trickling to the floor. I felt dizzy and every part of my body hurt. I couldn't see, so I tried to move my hands. But the only sound I heard was the creaking of bones and the jingling of metal. I frowned as I slowly craned my neck upwards. And found myself being held captive by a set of chains connected to the damp wall behind me. I shook my head in pain and frustration, realizing I wasn't just in this place, wherever it was. But I was stuck here too.My mind went through its own pain as I suddenly thought of what had happened? Where am I now? And if we had lost? The fight was something I vaguely remembered. And the only thing that stood out was the impact I made before everything went black. I looked down at myself now with the slightest glance and w

Noah's Pov I released a yell as I lunged forward; swinging my sword with all my weight behind it. I didn't aim. I didn't plan. I just moved to strike. And learnt too late that that was ignorant. As I saw him dodge the blow and myself become open for one. When I felt the full force of the steel fist he sent to my ribs. That cracked them in pieces like twigs.I fell to the floor, coughing blood. And air left my lungs as if it was being pumped out of my body. The pain was immense and it shot through my entire frame, making me keel over on the sand. Shellshocked. The horseman walked up to me till he got close enough to stand over me. I could see him smile down as I groaned in pain and his mouth revealed a row of jagged teeth. He held his sword by his side, then slowly sheathed it back. Now folding his arms and squinting at me.“Your time has come Alpha…” his baritone voice boomed. “I suggest you give up now while you still can, and maybe you'll be spared.” he said.”You are not winning

Noah's Pov I grinned as I stood up slowly. Then got up to my feet and smiled wide, nodding to the boy in respect. As he had just saved me the vain effort of chasing down a phoenix. He nodded back and as the man wanted to get up the second time; Danny instantaneously turned, aimed and fired again. Taking him to the ground in a louder groan.I was surprised at his speed. As I didn't see anything happen until the arrow had already hit its target. The boy folded his hand in a fist and gestured in victory. As the man on the floor now fell flat on his face.“I did it Alpha!” Danny yelled now. “I took him out!” he jumped, celebrating.“I did it!”He jumped and threw fists in the air, and even dropped his bow and did a dance in between. But I frowned as I would have loved to believe that too...Because the two arrows had landed closely together, and now looked like antennas sticking out of the man's back. And my brows raised in confusion and doubt. As I didn't believe he could be taken out t

And the wind blew strong and rough; almost changing its form to the waves of a raging storm.I was out on the field with a regiment of men at the forefront, while reinforcements laid hiding in plain sight. I held my sword and shield, but they felt burdensome. As I hadn't held even a stick in a good year.Yet I stood at the gates of the pack house. Directly in front. Holding the fort as the leader. And desirous to land the first kill. My blood was pumping, adrenaline raging and annoyance building. I was here to fight alongside my men, and to the death if it meant it.We had spread out in units; some on the ground, some in the trees, and some underground. The plan had been relayed, reiterated, and understood. And the day to implement had come. It was finally time. The moment of truth. The day of Reckoning…I felt strange yet confident. As inside
