Lyra’s POV

“Why is he here?”

I stiffened, curling my fingers around the window frame as I saw Malcolm striding toward our house. He wasn't looking happy or even friendly. He was just walking as if he was coming to fight.

My stomach twisted in irritation. I knew exactly why he’s here. That witch Davina. Of course, it was always about her. And that thought made me so angry. His father had warned him to stay away from Davina and he had agreed now he’s here.

For days, he had stayed away like a good little Alpha heir, just as his Father had commanded. But now? Now, he is back? What for? Does he want to lose his inheritance? Does he prefer Davina over his position?

Was he here to defy his father? This is crazy. Totally.

I almost walked outside to stop him. To tell him to turn around, to remind him of his place in My life. But something held me back. No. Let’s see how this plays out. I thought.

If Davina threw herself at him again, if she begged him to take her back, I’d have all the proof I needed. And I’ll make her suffer. This time, she’ll not survive it.

I just hope it doesn't get to that point anyways. I hope Malcolm listens to his father and pushes her away.

As I thought about how it was going to be a dramatic show, how Davina was going to cry, a slow smile crept onto my lips.

Well, that would be even better.

I turned away from the window, walking around secretly through the house, in my bare feet. I didn't want to draw attention to myself. I didn't want Malcolm to hear or see me.

I kept watching Malcolm walk straight to Davina’s room. Of course, he knew exactly where to go.

I slipped behind him, I was breathing so slow as I pressed myself against the wall near her door. The moment he walked inside, I followed, keeping myself out of sight, the door opened just enough for me to see everything.

And I was grateful that the door was slightly open. I peeped and there she was. That devil rushed to hug him.

“Davina,” Malcolm called in a stiff voice, and he pushed her away.

She gasped, and I watched as she sprang from the bed, widening her eyes in relief.

“Malcolm!” she breathed, lighting up and also looking surprised.

“Pathetic,” I mumbled.

She ran toward him again, trying to hold him. like she actually thought he was here for romance.

Malcolm, to his credit, shoved her back again before she could touch him.

I liked it. In fact, I was impressed.

She stumbled, looking hurt and confused for real.

“W-What…”

“We need to talk,” he cut her off. But his voice was cold and empty.

I bit my lip, hiding myjoy. Oh, this was better than I imagined.

“O-Okay,” Davina stammered. “Let’s talk.”

Malcolm exhaled through his nose, his body was stiff as a board. “This… whatever this is between us…it’s over.”

She opened her mouth so wide, staring at him. I bet she wasn't expecting what she got.

I watched Davina’s face crumple.

“No,” she whispered. “No, you don’t mean that.”

Malcolm’s jaw tightened. “I do.”

“Liar!” She shouted.

Even I could see the torment in his eyes. But that didn’t matter. What mattered was that he was saying the right things I needed to hear.

Davina tried to reach for him again, but he stepped back, like her touch was poison to him.

“Malcolm, look at me,” she begged, shaking her head.

He looked anywhere but at her.

“My father won’t allow it,” he said stiffly. “It’s done.”

I nearly laughed.

He was doing it. He was really doing it.

Davina shook her head wildly, as tears spilled down her cheeks. “Since when do you let your father decide how you live your life?”

“Since I became his heir,” Malcolm said, in a hard voice.

Davina let out a broken laugh, her hand was now shaking. “You’re scared.”

Malcolm flinched.

“You’re scared of what he’ll do if you don’t listen,” she pushed.

He said nothing.

“Malcolm, we’re fated mates!” Her voice rose in desperation. “That has to mean something!”

My stomach twisted at those words. Fated.

I hated that word.

Malcolm inhaled sharply, clenching his fits. “It doesn’t change anything.”

“It changes everything!” Davina snapped. “Malcolm, please, don’t let them take this away from us!”

I rolled my eyes. How pitiful.

“Say you don’t love me,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “Say it, and I’ll let you go.”

The tension in the room was suffocating.

I leaned forward slightly, watching Malcolm’s face.

For a second, just a second, his face broke down.

But then he clenched his jaw and muttered, “It doesn’t matter.”

Davina’s breath hitched.

“It matters to me!” she choked out.

Malcolm turned his back to her. “This is for the best.”

“For who?” Davina’s voice through the mind link was with both anger and agony.

“For everyone.”

My grin widened.

This was perfect.

Davina took a shaky step forward. “Malcolm, don’t do this. You love me, I love you and we love each other.”

He exhaled sharply. “It’s done, Davina.”

Her lips trembled, her entire body shaking. “You’re breaking my heart.”

Malcolm’s shoulders tensed, but he didn’t turn back.

“I already did,” he whispered.

And then, without another word, he walked away.

I pressed myself further into the dark as he walked past me, stomping his feet so hard on the floor.

But I didn’t care about him.

I cared about her.

I turned back toward the room, peering inside just in time to see Davina crumple to the floor, sobbing.

Her hands clutched at her chest, like she was physically trying to hold herself together.

I drank in the sight of her misery, enjoying every delicious second.

But then, something changed.

She wiped at her eyes, her breath was still ragged. But there was something different in her expression.

Something mysterious and dangerous.

I leaned in, straining to hear her next words through the mind link.

“I’ll make them all regret this,” she whispered.

A chill ran down my spine.

I stepped back, frowning my brows in curiosity.

Davina, the weak little Omega, was vowing revenge?

Interesting. Very interesting.u me baby how much

Davina's POV “Finally, I could have time to myself, sigh.”Wiping the sweat off my forehead, I took a deep breath as I reached out to my flute lying just beside my duffel bag which held everything I own. I was an omega; the lowest rank in the pack which was tough for me, not to talk about when you are being reminded of it each day. This was my predicament and each time I prayed to the moon goddess to help me. Nothing changed. She has been mute on me.My status as an omega made my family detest me, my sister Lyra hated me so much that she didn't fail to show it whenever she had the chance to do so, not to talk of my mother who considered me a disgrace. As if being an omega was not enough, I was born mute and I could only use signs to communicate only to those who were interested in listening to what I have to say. Because of this, Alpha Lumen tagged me as a cursed fellow and as a punishment, he made me a slave in the palace, tending to the needs of the royal family. Armed with m

Malcolm's POV “Mate!” I called, peering at her with widened eyes. The look on her face confirmed it too though she didn't say a word to me. For the next few minutes, I just stood there, staring into space as I tried to process what was happening. Growing up, my father had made me believe that my mate was Lyra, her sister and because of this, we were so close. But how wrong was he? “You're my mate.” I said in a question-like tone whereas I was just confirming what the moon goddess had done. Smiling at her, I took a step forward to close the gap between us but she took a step backwards, her eyes widened in fear. “Come on, you don't have to be scared.” I coyed, trying to calm her raging nerves but that didn't help as she began to dart her eyes around. Grabbing the hem of her gown, she began to look around and I was certain her mind was already running haywire with different ideas. “You shouldn't be scared of me, you are my mate and…” Suddenly, I pressed my lips together as I sn

Davina's POV Indeed the moon goddess doesn't care about me. Instead of mating me to someone else, she mated me to Alpha Malcom, Alpha Lumen’s son, my enemy. It was sickening and no matter the direction I looked at it from, I lost my head but the kind words of Malcolm always nullified it. This went on for a while and I could literally feel myself floating in space as my head felt heavy. Resting against the wall, I grabbed my head with both hands as I slid through the wall to the floor.“I will have to live with the thought of Alpha Malcolm as my mate only since no one would be in support of our mating ceremony.” Lyra! She is going to kill me if she finds out I was mated to Alpha Malcom. Since childhood, she had been made to believe that she is going to be the next Luna and hence, she became so proud. Mother didn't help matters a bit as she encouraged every single thing which she did. You are the Luna, everyone should be under your feet — this was mother's favorite words to her

Davina's POVWith my heart ramming against my chest, I couldn't help but stare at the duo who were glaring murderously at me. Pressing my lips tightly together, I made sure I didn't make a sound otherwise I would face a grave punishment for it. “What have you done again?” Mother yelled, breaking the silence in the living room. “Wherever you go, you always cause havoc, aren't you tired of being hated?” She added with a huff. Placing her hands on her waist, Lyra rose and with a loud and intimidating tone, she said, “If I were you, I would have killed myself a long time ago. It's not as if being deprived of a befitting burial would make a difference, you are nothing but a slave, your body would be fed to the rogues.”Each word she said made my heart break until it was completely broken and I couldn't hold back my tears anymore. While they laughed and made a mockery of me, I just stood there, whimpering like a rodent that had been caught in a hunter’s trap. Unable to bear it anymore

Davina's POVAlpha Malcom initiated the conversation which I heard in my head and I responded to it. The realization of this made my heart bubble in excitement. At least I wasn't totally dumb, I had a voice in my head. Over the weeks, our friendship became stronger to the extent that I always looked forward to spending more time with him each day. His presence soothed me that I literally had nothing to worry about all through the day even though I was still maltreated. One day, during our secret meeting, he held my hand and with a little sigh, he said, “I can't wait to announce our relationship to the world.” Terrified, I yelled, “No! You can't do that.” There was a confused look on his face at my sudden disapproval. “I can't let you do that.” I said again, this time around, fiddling with my fingers as my heartbeat increased. “But why? Don't you love me?” He asked, tightening his grip on my hand. “I do love you but… I can't let anyone find out about our relationship. My mother

Davina’s POV When I blinked my eyes opened, the sharp sting of sunlight pierced my vision. I winced, blinking furiously to adjust. Every muscle in my body ached as though I had been trampled by a herd of wild beasts. My head thumped, and my ribs screamed with every shallow breath I took, and my wrists felt raw from the ropes they had used to bind me. For a fleeting moment, I thought it was over. That they had finally tired of their cruelty and left me to wallow in my pain. But as I moved slightly, the coarse fabric of the floor beneath me squeezed against my skin, I realized I wasn’t alone. They were still here. Lyra stood to my left, with her arms folded, and her expression was of pure hatred. my mother, though I hated to call her, stood beside her, tapping her foot impatiently on the ground. Panic coursed through me. My throat felt tight, and my heart was beating harder than it should, given my injuries. I forced myself to speak, in a hoarse and trembling voice. “Please,” I cr

Davina’s POV “Get out.” I blinked, unsure if I’d heard her correctly. Genevieve stood at the door, with keys in her hand, she was glaring at me with so much mockery. “Didn’t you hear me, Davina? I said get out. You can go back to your room now. Although You have laundry to do.” Get out? The word hung in my ear, taunting me. For days, weeks, maybe I’d been locked away in this cold, suffocating room, I was just so desperate to escape. But now, staring at her smug face, I didn’t feel relief. I felt scared. I was back to the hard reality of life. To tasking jobs without food. “Why now?” My voice came out hoarse, but barely more than a whisper. She smirked and leaned against the doorframe. “Why not? Don’t think for a second it’s out of kindness. We’re done with you, that’s all. You’re nothing but a waste of space. Moreover, we have jobs to do.” I wanted to argue, to beg her to keep me still locked up, but I bit my tongue. The last thing I needed was to give her more reason to hurt

Lyra’s POV “Unbelievable!” Alpha Damian’s roar echoed through the hall, shaking the walls and sending a shiver down my spine. His fists slammed against the table, they sound like thunder, silencing both me and my mother. I stood a few steps behind my mother, barely able to hide my smirk as the Alpha seethe with rage. I totally understood him as Davina's involvement with his son was an insult to him and the pack. “A dumb girl? An Omega?” He scoffed, pacing the floor like a caged wolf. “How dare she? My son, the future Alpha of this pack, risking everything for someone like her?” His voice dripped with disgust. Genevieve, my ever-calculating mother, strolled forward, in a gentle but firm voice. “Alpha, it’s unfortunate, but I felt it was my duty to inform you. Malcolm’s behavior… it’s unbecoming of someone in his position.” Alpha Damian stopped pacing, as his piercing eyes narrowed as he looked at my mother. “You’ve done the right thing, Genevieve. I stopped what I was doing and turned to face her with my arms crossed under my breast. “You have to follow me to the Alpha’s house.” I frowned my brow a bit. She never told me that we’d be going there. “Mom, is there a problem?” She chuckled. “You worry too much. Just go get dressed. I’ll give you only five minutes.” she said, walking out of the kitchen. I widened my eyes, “five minutes?” “Yes, five minutes.” I looked at myself, huffed, and dropped the cup in my hands and walked out of the kitchen to my bedroom. Exactly, five minutes, I was standing outside, dressed in a black and white Polka dress, with my hair packed in a tight ponytail and black slippers. While I waited for my mother who gave me five minutes. “Five minutes, really Mom?” I said, eyeing her. She smiled and rolled her eyes at me. We walked in total silence to the Alpha’s hou

My head was spinning, my heart was heavy with everything I’d just learned.I sat on the cold floor, hugging my knees to my chest, staring at the door as if it might hold the answers I so desperately needed.“Why?” I whispered to myself, my inner mind was barely audible. “Why didn’t anyone tell me the truth? Why was I left in the dark all this while?” No wonder Lyra and her mother never treated me like one of them. I felt like an outcast. I leaned back against the wall, with questions flooding through my mind. Was my mother truly guilty? Did she really try to seduce the Alpha? Or was that just another one of Genevieve’s cruel lies? Where did she go? Will I ever find her?And what did she look like? Did I resemble her in any way? The thought sent a strange pang through my chest.“Does she even know I exist?” I muttered. “Or did she leave without a second thought?”My mind drifted back to my chi
