Lyne rode her horse gently towards the people's residence as they crossed the green fields. The sun was just rising and her wardrobe maid had been wise enough to choose light wear for her that morning, knowing how sunny the day will be. She wore a white robe over a blue gown and a golden belt around her waist, not fixing it too tightly because of her stomach.

Zeidan rode right beside her and he looked handsome in his black royal robe, spread over his white horse and a golden cap-like crown that had initials engraved on it in rubies. He looked exquisite and all royalty.

"I think it's a good idea you asked us to come here." Zeidan began to say as they saw houses from afar coming into view.

Various guards fell in behind them, some of their carts bearing bags of food, fruits, and plenty of amenities needed by the bottom feeders.

"It is essential. This is exactly what they need after the attack. Just for them to know we have them in mind."

"I hope so."

Gradually, they arrived at the squa

"You're kind." The boy blurted out.Lyne was a bit taken aback as she wasn't expecting that. All the same, she scoffed and mumbled a thank you. "So what is your name?""And you're beautiful too.""What happened to your parents?" She knew he was trying to wave off the topic.Lyne's hands were still wrapped around the boy's hand as she looked him in the eye. He had a mixed look of pain and loneliness. Since when did this happen? What was wrong? Much as this little boy wanted to say lots of things, he just kept mute. But she needed to know more. An idea popped up in her mind and she grabbed his face in her hands. "Hey. Look at me."The spiky-haired boy stared into her eyes and she could see deep down within him. Everywhere became blurry and slowly sounds were turning muffled. She frowned. Her mind was numb and by the time she would close her eyes, she was right in the middle of the square that was as quiet as a graveyard. How she got there or where the whole gathering had gone, she co

Lyne walked through the hallway that led to the palace when she heard a guard run-in with a scroll in hand."Your Highness." He bowed. "We have visitors from South Park. The Alpha and his entourage are here."Lyne stiffened and she stood behind the door immediately, trying to peep and hear the purpose of her Father's visit. Had he heard about her pregnancy and wanted to come? She didn't want to tell him just yet for he might be extremely worried and take her away from Zeidan with force until the war is over. She feared greatly for that. Styx walked in majestically, his silver and black robe sweeping behind him on the floor. His hair had grown shoulder length and she wondered when last he had a haircut. He made his way towards Zeidan who sat on his throne looking all royalty. Looking up at his guests, he closed the papers he had glanced at and passed them to a eunuch beside him who bowed and walked out. Speaking of guests. Charles walked in from behind her father, dressed in black ro

The door creaked open gently and closed in the same manner. Lyne knew it was Zeidan who had walked in but she didn't raise her head. She just laid on the bed, tired. Especially after what she just heard her father say. She just needed to be alone."Hey," Zeidan called and she turned to face him slightly."Look, I know I've been a dimwit all this time and I was so stupid to have acted that way. But, you know, I was just..." He tried looking for the right words. "You're just thinking of it in a wrong way.""I am?" Lyne rose from the bed, wrapping her arms around herself. "How?""Luana can't possibly be working for Shelbrooke.""And how sure can we be?" Lyne asked, looking at him from across the room, two feet away from each other."A hundred percent." She raised a brow. "Lyne, Luana has been with Vampire city since she was born. She knows the history, she knows the rules and she knows what the result of betrayal is.""What the heck are you saying, Zeidan? I should have suspected the mo

Zeidan ran a hand over her face. "I had no idea."Lyne shook her head. "It wasn't you. I knew it was a Werecat but only after he said terrible things.""What got you so fired up about this? Why were you running from me?" Zeidan asked.Lyne froze, her eyes tearing up again and he pulled her in for an embrace, her face buried in his shirt."Tell me, honey."Lyne began in muffled voices but he cooed her until she was stable enough to talk."I..." She began. "Look, they were all terrible things.""So, you won't tell me?" Zeidan asked."I will.""Then tell me.""I wonder if you think the same way. But seeing how much it will hurt me, you wouldn't want to be truthful and tell me that's what you think."He pulled both of his wife's hands and looked into her eyes, heart heavy. What the hell did that idiot tell her?"What is it?" Zeidan asked. "I promise to be truthful. You keeping it in your mind won't solve anything.""He said, I was just...he accused me of knowing about Wikh's escape and th

Luana washed her hands and splashed water on her face. Patting it dry with a knitted small cloth, she noticed the fine tremor that ran through her hands. She was going to Vampire City. No, going to see how things are. It's been two months since she left Vampire city and she didn't even know if she was making a good decision by going there. They may not get along, but he trusted her, right? But no, why would he trust her? After all, he didn't want her. And honestly, who could blame him?She wasn't going to rekindle her love for him but she knows that merely seeing him would bring back lost feelings. Tears pricked her lids once again as the volley of doubts waged war against her. What would it take to make him love her? He admired strength. She'd tried to be strong. He admired authority. She made sure everything she did was to keep Vampire city in order. "Why?" She whispered to her face reflecting in the stream she had stopped by to wash her face and hands. Her horse whined behind he

Lyne ordered the carriage to stop right at the bridge that was being repaired by laborers. It's been weeks since they started but from the look of things, it didn't look like they could finish it soon. So much for building, a much stronger bridge with gates. She climbed down and the cold evening wind hit her in the face. Lyne shuddered. The weather looked like it will soon rain and it's normal since they were in November. The torrential downpours that had hit Vampire City over the last few weeks had caused the progress of the bridge construction to be slow. At least today, it was going to rain towards the end of the day, when the workers can be back in their shelters. And then she spotted her husband at the end of the bridge, giving orders to a man who had on a helmet and his jacket was covered in sand and it was evident he was the supervisor. He wore a black shirt, with the top slightly unbuttoned and he had his two hands dug in his pockets. He looked tall and manly with his hair b

Lyne pulled the wet hair that stuck to her neck away, swinging them on her shoulder to make it easier for Zeidan to clean her back with a wet towel soaked in the warm bath where they both stood. He stood behind her, tall and gallant. He had been doing this for days now since she confronted him about not having time for her and the baby. But not with grudges. He was caring and gentle with his touch. He dropped the towel just at the edge of the bath and turned her to face him."How was your appointment with Stevenson today?"He asked, slowly pulling her hair up in a ponytail."We talked a lot, especially about the training. He said there was nothing wrong with it as long as I am not overdoing it. It's just like exercising to strengthen my bones and make them flexible in preparation for childbirth."She explained as he finished with her hair. He just gave a wry smile but she wanted to give him the whole gist."Do you know I'm scared of the ninth month?" She asked, smiling up at him."Rea

Her head bent over stacks of paperwork that morning, a knock sounded on the door to the drawing room once. Low and short. Then the second was loud, and she was forced to look up into the eyes of a little boy wearing a grey coat that had been patched all over with some buttons missing. Spiky hair and dark innocent eyes. He looked different and especially with the coat, she barely recognized him. "Hey. Brady, it's you. Come here."He walked in, hesitatingly and looked around the large room that looked ancient with the red expensive tufted rug, high shelves placed against the walls of the room, papers stacked on a table in the corner and there was one executive table and chair where she sat with two chairs across. The boy came closer soon and bowed slightly, eyes still moving about with his mouth wide open."How're you doing, Brady?" She asked, a smile plastered on her face."Took you three months to honor our invitation."Brady finally looked at her from the corner of his eyes before

Sometimes when one thinks of the past, moving forward to the future seems hard for them. Every night, Dad would always come to tell me tales of how they fought with a magical stone called the Onyx. He said it was what brought us together as clans all over the lands, excluding the Werecats. The breeze blew my light brown hair which was slowly bleaching into blonde like my mom's as I kept writing my journal. Although I still haven't believed there was any such thing as magic, I still needed to find out. I jumped down the fence, in my leather top and jacket with boots, my two long swords clasped to my back as I walked back to the training field. I looked at the people fighting and some bowing to me. With pride and elegance, I swerved my hips past the boys, while my four friends followed from each side. Tracy, Eretria, Romena, and Sasha. Two of them were hot blonde chicks in their mid-twenties, while the other two were brunettes. We are the Angel Squad and we rule the United Clan Train

"What's wrong, Lyne?" Zeidan asked looking up at her. She now had strange eyes and he wondered if she still recognizes him. Lyne opened her hand and he could see the Onyx on her palm, green and glowing. But that wasn't the problem. The problem was Lyne's nose bleeding and her eyes returning to normal. His hands quivered and loosened around Luana which made her grab the opportunity and kicked him in the stomach while he tended to it, she kicked him in the face turned, and stabbed his stomach with a knife.Awareness dawned on him as the object sank into him. He looked at Luana with shock and his eyes were getting blurry."You had every chance to be happy with me. But you ruined it all." Luana said and further twisted the knife inside of him, making him scream out.Lyne still lay on the floor, bleeding from her nose. He gasped and was finally released so that he could sit on the floor, weak and helpless. He raised his arm but no help came. "Die, Zeidan. Goodbye." Luana left him with Sh

Lyne looked at Luana, a smile curving her lips as she resolved to fight with all her might no matter how good she may be at magic. Or using the Onyx, but she sure is good with her claws. She stretched her fingers, eyes intent on Luana whose black eyes were also fixed on her. As they both snarled at each other, they also did the same with the charge and attack. Lyne swooshed her claws at Luana's face which she moved slightly backward to avoid and in turn twirled on her heels and hit her stomach with her knee. She bent and held on to her stomach as she felt the sharpness but only for a while before she was back on her feet. Luana threw a punch from the left to the right side which she dodged and grabbed her wrist, then right to the left and she grabbed the second wrist too, then holding both wrists captive, Lyne hit her forehead with hers, not minding the resounding bang she felt. Luana cried out and she released her so she could nurse her bleeding forehead. "You bastard!" Luana swo

With blazing eyes and a torn-apart soul, Lyne glared at Luana and the stone in her hand. "You know, if I were you, as a mother who has empathy for her daughter," Luana began to say as she walked in circles around Lyne. "I'd dive into that water and save my baby." Lyne looked back at her daughter who was still afloat, her tiny arms unable to hold her on the surface for long. "You may have won this time but not next time," Lyne hissed, looking into Luana's eyeball. "And that next time is soon."With that, she jumped into the water and swam her way to her daughter, arms and legs fluttering the strong current. She grabbed her daughter by the waist and held her tight to her body, swimming back to the shore. She climbed back to the surface and bent to check her daughter who sat on the floor, weak. "My baby." She muttered, hands running over Aurora's face and body. "Are you okay?" Aurora breathed heavily. Lyne felt guilty. She was the reason her daughter passed through all these. If she

Shelbrooke was too engrossed in staring at Lyne that he was unaware when Zeidan turned and grabbed his ankle making him fall. As Reyns moved to attack him, Zeidan grabbed his spear on the floor and pointed it at Reyns who chuckled and drew out his long swords."I'm sorry that you got played not once but twice, Zeidan. However, we can't blame you but the bitch that always thought she saw the good in you." Reyns said as they turned to the center of the field, each of them stretching their weapons at the other."I didn't ask her to find the good in me. I was already good to myself." Zeidan replied, his eyes not leaving Reyns and his swords."Then, it's obvious, you had her under your magical spell. Once we have the Onyx, I'll have the power to break that stupid spell you placed on her." Zeidan huffed. "Admit it. You like her and you're just afraid that she'll reject you if you let your true intention known." The other man held on tightly to his swords now stepping forward. "That's neve

Amber and Effinton stood gallant in front of Lyne and Zeidan, already in their fighting wear. Amber was placed as leader of the archery team since Chloe had died. She was also as good as the former leader, which makes it a win-win situation. Effinton also wore his black leather suit and pants with his boot heels. They all stood at the council table, all focused on the map before them."We need to come up with a better strategy than before. A unique one that will disassemble pure enemies before they even get closer to the field that separates Vampire city from the rest of the clans." Effinton spoke up and Zeidan nodded."You're right. But what do we come up with? We have exhausted the rest of our strategies on past wars." Zeidan replied but Lyne was seeing a different thing."Maybe we don't need a new strategy but ones we have used before and can put together to fight. They won't know what hits them by the time we strike.""I think the Queen is right," Amber spoke up, pointing to a sm

Shelbrooke moved forward, his steps cautious. The rest of the team geared up, some of them suddenly shifting. Luana let out her claws and Lyne snarled at them, her strong sharp teeth revealed. "I must say I'm quite amassed by your bravery and confidence. I mean, you even managed to come into his den." Luana said, walking behind Shelbrooke, her eyes turning black."Don't tell me you're thinking about lifting a finger because I won't hesitate to draw life out of you." Lyne threatened, gritting her teeth. Shelbrooke roared, his voice booming in the cave."You lose girl." He snorted and rushed towards her. Lyne jumped up and landed behind them, turning sharply when she heard Shelbrooke order the others. "Let her be guys. I know how to handle her." She snarled at him, eyes catching her father's body from the corner of her eyes. "Bring it on." Shelbrooke hopped on her but she turned sharply and hit him head-on, her teeth sinking into his neck. A painful cat cry pierced the cave and he

Lyne received the letter from Amber, tore off the pin that held them together, and read it. When she was done, she looked back at Zeidan who stood behind her. His men were busy clearing the palace but when he saw the look in her eyes, he ordered for the both of them to be left alone. When they had gone, Zeidan moved close to her."What does it say?" He asked and she raised her blue gaze at him."They want me to come to South Park."He frowned. Yes, news reached them about Lyne's arrival but why would they need her to come to visit them? He had thought Styx would come to visit her. Perhaps, he didn't try to because he doesn't care any longer or he thought it was fake news."Why?""It says here that they want me to become the Alpha.""For South Park?"Lyne nodded but she still has worry written all over her face. She should be happy about it."This is unusual. Charles wasn't supposed to like this. He had been clamoring for that position for as long as I can remember. He should get it a

Maya exhaled audibly as she stared at the body of the man she had just finished killing. Before her, bodies lay on the floor and she could see Shelbrooke and Reyns looking at her in admiration. "I have a request to make, however," Shelbrooke said and she glanced at him."What request?" She asked still shaken from the fight. This was weird. She never gets weak, no matter how many people she kills, but then it dawned on her. Her time is up. "Remove your cover," Shelbrooke said."What?" Maya exclaimed."We need to see your face." Reyns chipped in and she felt all their gazes on her at once. What was the point? She had been hiding her face for a long while and her time is almost up. She touched the edge of the fabric, looking up at Shelbrooke. Images of what had happened the other day came rushing back. The grounds shook and it was daytime already. No one could go to the surface to survive the blast as the sun was up. Going to the surface at that time would only cause their death, fast
