Fear slowly consumes me, as my mind won’t stop asking question after question. Will they like me? Are they a peaceful pack? Will they really let me stay?
Then my mind slowly turns to darker questions. Will they make me work like a slave? Shoot. Will they try to sexually assault me? NO!! I’M STILL A VIRGIN! They can’t do that.
Shoot. I still haven’t had my first kiss. I have been waiting for my mate, but that won’t ever happen now. He has already claimed and mated with the alpha’s daughter from another pack. Oh, I have to stop thinking about this.
I’m sure that everything that I’m thinking about surely won’t happen. I need to have faith in the Moon Goddess.
Gus stops the car in front of an enormous house. No. This isn’t a house. It is a freaking mansion. A very huge mansion. What kind of pack is this?
I lean forward in my seat as my mouth drops open. You could probably fit all the buildings that my pack has in this mansion and still have room for more buildings from other packs.
A soft chuckle fills the vehicle. However, I can’t tear my eyes off the mansion. I can see more buildings behind it and to the side of it that are also big, but not as big as this main building.
Gus softly chimes, “It is a pretty big house. I guess I should have warned you.”
With my eyes still on the mansion, I slowly nod my head. I don’t even know what to say. What do you say to something like this?
Gus nudges my shoulder. “Come on. We have to get in there before the meal starts or those darn rascals will eat everything and leave us nothing.”
He opens the driver’s door and gets out. However, I’m still in a daze. I somehow manage to open the passenger door and get out of the vehicle, but my mouth doesn’t seem to want to work. I silently follow Gus to the mansion.
He opens the door and allows me to go first. I still don’t know where I’m going and I stop right inside the door as I mumble, “Thank you.”
Gus smiles and steps into the entryway as he closes the door behind him.
I think I have left my confidence in the car. However, I have never been in a situation like this before.
My hands begin to sweat and tremble. I hope everything is going to be all right.
Gus walks past me and further into the mansion. I slightly lower my head and follow right behind him. I don’t want to get lost in here. I don’t think I could ever find my way out.
Within a few steps, we walk into what looks like a living room, but it could also pass a game room with all the video game consoles, cartridges, and gaming chairs. Well, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell that they like playing video games.
A small smile quickly spreads across my face, but it quickly disappears as we walk further into the house as we get closer and closer to voices. Wait. Are they arguing about something? Shoot. Does this mean that they are a pack of warriors? My father once told me that packs who are born to be warriors often fight over the simplest things.
Would I fit in with a pack of warriors? Oh, I don’t know if this is a good idea or not.
I grab the hem of my shirt and begin to fidget with it.
Gus lightly pats my shoulder. “Brenda, calm down. We aren’t going to do anything to you. We are a peaceful pack. Granted, we are a secret and a very well-hidden pack, but we are peaceful. I wouldn’t be surprised that you have never even heard of us before.”
I glance down the hallway towards the growing loud voices and slowly shake my head. “My father never mentioned anything about any packs in this area. I went to a human high school and college, so of course, they didn’t mention anything about any werewolves being here either.”
A small smile appears on Gus’ face. “What did you learn about this area in school?”
I think for a bit. What did I learn about this area? Was it good in farming? Think Katelyn. It isn’t that hard of a question.
Wait! I remember!
I suddenly pop my head up and chime, “Business. This area has some of the biggest and most powerful companies in the country. The teachers also told us they were all human businesses.”
Gus chuckles and shakes his head. “Well, you are partially right. We have some of the biggest and most powerful companies in the country located in this area, but those big companies are all owned and operated by werewolves. Our alpha, Wyatt, along with the previous alpha, Wyatt’s father, own and run those companies.”
I tilt my head and ask, “Then why are some of the pack working elsewhere, like you are working as a bus driver?”
Gus pats my arm a little harder. “Not all of us are cut out for working in an office. Plus, I have an alternative reason for being a bus driver.”
An alternative reason. What is it?
Confused, I mumble, “What?”
He looks forward towards a large set of double doors and chimes, “You can call me the gate keeper.”
The gate keeper? What is that supposed to mean?
Before I ask, Gus strides forward and grabs the door handle. “We are here. Now the younger ones can be a little rowdy, so don’t be surprised.”
I nod my head. “Okay.”
Gus pulls open the door and the loud noise instantly stops, and the room becomes completely quiet.
This is it.
Gus steps into the dining hall. I hesitate for a moment and take a deep breath.
After a few moments, I tentatively step into the dining hall and slowly scan the room. Dang. That is a lot of werewolves. It would take at least three of my pack to equal the number of werewolves in this room right now.
My knees wobble as I take a few small steps and get closer to Gus. He is the only person who I know, and he has been so kind to me.
Gus clears his throat and announces, “Everyone, this is Brenda. I don’t need to tell you much. Most of you can tell already, but for the ones who can’t yet, I will tell you she has had to leave her pack.”
Before Gus can continue, a cute guy steps forward and begins walking towards us. “I have agreed to let Brenda stay here, so please make her feel welcome. Also, since she is one of the few omegas that I’ve met, she will stay with me to make sure that no one does anything to harm her. Since I have a mate bond, she has nothing to worry about with me. Do you understand?”
Everyone in the room instantly yells, “Yes, Alpha.”
Did I call him cute? He isn’t just cute, but he is also beautiful. I thought my friend, Alex, is the only beautiful guy, but I’m mistaken. Wyatt is stunning, and he isn’t even my mate. Well, Alex isn’t my mate either and I think he is beautiful, too.
Wyatt smiles at me as he strides towards me. If Gus hadn’t told me he is a beta, I would believe that he is truly an alpha, albeit a short alpha, but I would still think that he is an alpha.
I couldn’t help but to wish that I could be a little like him.
People only have to take one look at me, and they immediately know that I’m an omega. I wouldn’t know what I will do if people look at me and think that I’m an alpha. Oh, that is asking for too much, but maybe I can get him to help me look like a beta instead. I definitely think that I can get the confidence to give off a beta aura.
As I’m lost in thought, Wyatt marches up to me and engulfs me in a hug.
This is so different than my pack. I have friends, yes, but to get such a warm welcome is something new to me. My pack reserves greetings like this for a select few, and I’m not one of them even though my older brother is part of that select few. I’m sure that it is because he will be the pack’s next beta and following in our dad’s footsteps. I don’t follow in anyone’s footsteps, especially now.
Ugh… I need to stop thinking about this.
I tentatively wrap my arms around Wyatt and whisper, “Thank you, alpha Wyatt.”
Wyatt hugs me even tighter and whispers, “Not a problem. Our pack sticks together and welcomes omegas with open arms. There aren’t too many left.”
Well, he has a point. I, however, want to play it safe and make sure not to make waves. If it helps that the alpha is willing to protect me, then I’m not going to argue or disagree. Plus, I can’t explain it, but I already feel like I’m part of the family. I don’t know how, but I do.
Wyatt lets go of me and takes a step back as he chimes, “Brenda, you will sit at the head table with me. Are you hungry?”
Before I can even respond, my stomach answers for me with a loud growl, which instantly has Wyatt and Gus chuckling. I quickly put my hand on my stomach and lower my head, as I mumble, “Sorry.”
Wyatt shakes his head and chimes, “Don’t be. Now, let’s get you fed, before your stomach starts talking even louder.”
I simply nod my head and follow him as he turns around and heads towards his table at the end of the room. Oh, I can’t believe that my stomach growled like that. This is so embarrassing.
What have I gotten myself into? I follow Wyatt to his area of the mansion. I don’t even know where my bag is. Shortly after I sat down for the meal, one of the pack members took my bag. She said that she would put it in my room, but I don’t know where that is. Now, I’m following Wyatt through the various halls, which feel more like a maze than a house. Wyatt did tell me, as soon as we met, omegas need to be protected, but what does that really mean? Wait. Does that mean I have to sleep in the same room as Wyatt? I have never shared a bed with anyone. I have been planning on doing that only with my mate. Dang. Why did I have to think about him? With my head lowered, I bite my bottom lip as I try to keep my tears from forming yet again. Over the past few days, I think I have cried enough for that idiot. I know my wolf is yearning for him, but he is no longer my mate.
Where is Katelyn? I have tried repeatedly to get someone to try and search for my best friend, but everyone seems to just ignore me. Well, not everyone is ignoring me. Katelyn’s father, Beta Malcolm, has sent search groups out, but they keep coming up empty. How could she just disappear like that? I know she has to be miserable and in pain right now. I could see it in her face as Alpha Marcus announced that his son, Mike, had finally found his mate. I wanted to stand up and scream that the girl wasn’t Mike’s mate, but I can’t. It isn’t acceptable for someone like me to stand up against Alpha Marcus. Now Katelyn could do it, but I know she won’t. She has kept the identity of her mate a secret from everyone except me for the last two years. She only had a couple more months before Mike turns 18 and he would then be able to find his mate on his own. However, that all has come crashing down in an ins
I can’t believe I’m actually learning to fight. I made a simple comment to Wyatt that I wish I could be more like him and bam. Ford and Mason are teaching me to fight. I think I could have handled just one teacher, but with both of them, it is like an intense lesson. When one has to leave to take care of something, the other one comes in and continues with my training. Usually, Mason is my primary teacher since he is the lead warrior and is the one leading all the training sessions while Ford is Wyatt’s Beta. Between the two, they have taught me in an extremely intense training session every day. I don’t even get Saturday or Sunday off. However, if this is going to get me to the level that Wyatt is at, then I’ll gladly work all these hours and more. Well, I have little else to do, so I might as well train. If I was back at my old pack, I would be getting ready to go back to college. However,
Oh, Brenda, she is too cute when she is thinking really hard. I should say Katelyn instead. I know she gave us a fake name when she first got here. We have given her so many hints to try and slowly let her know that we have special abilities. As the alpha of the pack, even though my gender is beta, I can see people’s abilities. My father, who was the former alpha, has the ability too. We have passed it from each generation to the next one. Other members of the pack have special abilities too. However, everyone in our pack has the ability to see into other people’s minds and see their thoughts. We still don’t understand how we have formed this ability, but it is also one reason that we have secretly hidden ourselves for many generations. According to our elders, other packs learned of our abilities and began to try to use them for their benefit. However, it didn’t take long for us to run in orde
I still can’t understand what has happened. How can someone who has never met me before know who I am?As I sit on the bus, I can’t seem to take my eyes off the bus driver. My mind keeps trying to figure it out. However, the only thing that I can think of is that Katelyn somehow knew I may come to her, and she showed them a picture of me. Nothing else explains what is happening.I finally tear my eyes away from Gus and look out the window. My mind is still trying to grasp the events for today, but what I keep jumping to is the fact that I will see my best friend in a few hours. Just the thought of finally getting to see her has me smiling. I also can’t stop trying to think of all the things I want to tell her. There is one thing that I’m positive that I won’t say to her. No matter what, I’m not going to tell her anything about Mike and that witch. Oops, I mean B
I still can’t believe everything that has happened today.First, I get to go back to school and get to study what I want to study. Never in a million years would I have thought that something like this would happen to me. Then Wyatt tells me all about the pack and of the secrets associated with the pack.I’m still shocked. He has also told me that Bridget has abilities, which is why she can sense where I’m at. If the elders work with her, Wyatt is sure that she will be able to sense and locate anyone when she really wants to find them. But one of the most shocking things he has told me is that most of the pack can read people’s minds. That blows my mind away, but then it suddenly clicks why Wyatt always knows what I’m thinking. I don’t have to even say it because if he wants to, he can just read my mind. He promises they try to keep it to a minimum, but they have to d
Wyatt leads us to the head table. The pack has set up another spot for Bridget at his head table. Only Beta Ford and Lead Warrior Mason have been sitting at the table up to now. If they have mates, then their mates would have been able to sit next to them too. Then, of course, Wyatt’s mate has a seat at the table right next to him, but since his mate’s death, the seat has been vacant. However, that is the seat I’ve been using since I’ve gotten here. The Alpha rearranges the seats a little, so my friend is sitting next to me while Mason and Ford are on the other side of Wyatt. As we sit down, my mind finally begins to work again. I look around the dining hall, but I don’t see Mason or Ford. We have been able to introduce Bridget to Mason when we were in the backyard earlier. He was just finishing up a training session, which I fortunately was able to get out of it toda
I don’t even know where I am, but my wolf is jumping around in delight and is howling. I continue to let Ford pull me through the halls of the pack house before he rushes into a room and pulls me in with him. He slams the door shut and before I can say anything else, he captures my lips in a searing hot kiss.I have never kissed anyone before, but at this moment, I don’t care if I don’t know how it is to be done. I just want to have his lips wrapped around me. I don’t care if it is my lips, my neck or anywhere else on my body. I need those lips to be in contact with me.My wolf howls in excitement as a burning fire ignites deep inside of me. My mind keeps chanting the same thing over and over. Claim him. He is mine. With the speed of lightning, Ford suddenly has our clothes off and scattered around the room. I still don’t know how that has happened, but I’m not
Katelyn POV I walk across my bedroom to the crib. Even though the baby is crying, and you can’t hear anything except him, I smile as I stop at the edge. Our first born and the next alpha to the Sun Moon pack. My pride and joy. I lean over the edge of the crib and softly coo, “Are you mad, Max? You can’t be hungry. You just had your milk.” I gently pick him up from the crib and begin to sway back and forth, while cradling my son in my arms. “Hush, baby. You need to rest. You have to grow up to be big and strong.” However, Max continues to cry. Knock. Knock. Still swaying back and forth, I glance up at the door. “Come in.” The door opens and Fiona pokes her head into the bedroom. “Uhm, you can’t get him to calm down again?” I slowly shake my head. She steps into the bedroom. “Do you want me to help?
I breathe a sigh of relief at seeing Alpha Marcus lying motionless on the ground. However, it is short-lived as I turn and scan the battlefield. My heart aches seeing all the injured and dead werewolves. This didn’t need to get to this point.A faint smile suddenly spreads across my face as my eyes stop at Sammy and Katelyn. Sammy is getting up off the ground and is completely healed. As she stands, she changes from her light tan wolf to Alpha Marcus’ gray wolf.Well, at least she is feeling well enough to use her abilities. That is a good sign.My mate is amazing. My smile slowly fades as my eyes spot Mike, who is staring at Katelyn and Sammy. What is Mike doing? He knows he can never have Katelyn again. Right. My thoughts are interrupted when the Supreme Elder calmly walks out of the trees, along with a few of the other elders, and scans around the open fiel
Mike POVI slowly open my eyes. The bright sun instantly makes me squint and close them again.I’m alive.I thought I was dead.I’m sure that I was being ripped to pieces.I lift my arm to block the bright sun from my eyes as I slowly open them back up. Wait. I thought I was in my wolf form. My wolf!I mentally ask, “Are you still here with me?”My wolf slowly mumbles, “Yeah, but I need to rest.”Oh, that is a relief.I move to sit up, but pain instantly shoots through my entire body. I quickly look down at my body, trying to see how bad the damage is, but I don’t see any. Wait. Where are my injuries?I quickly touch my legs and turn them slightly, but nothing. There isn’t one injury there. My eyes quickly go to my stomach and my chest, as my hands randomly pat that a
I watch from the side of the clearing as Mike goes limp on the battleground. NO!!!I try to run towards him, but Ford’s wolf quickly bites my ear and stops me. Through the mind link, he barks, “Bridget, baby, follow the plan. We know that this could be a possibility if Mike came here, but we can’t stop now. We have to take down Alpha Marcus.”I glance back at Mike, but he is gone. The only wolf laying lifeless on the ground now is Caleb.I slowly nod my head.Through the mind link, I announce, “It is time! Sammy, be careful. Everyone, get into position. Tammy and Fiona, you need to make sure that you focus and only use your powers against Alpha Marcus.”I glance around the battlefield. Again, through my mind link, I make an announcement to all the werewolves, except Alpha Marcus. “The future beta Caleb is dead, along with many others who supp
I bolt through the trees, over the boulders, and around the bushes. I move my feet as fast as I can. With each step, my heart pounds harder as the sound of battle hits my ears. The growls of victory along with the howls of pain stab my heart. This shouldn’t be happening, and it is all because of my father. His sick need to be the most powerful and have everyone bow down to him is too much. It must stop.No wonder my mother isn’t anywhere to be found. I’m sure that she couldn’t handle him either. With that thought running through my mind, I jump into the clearing. The sight that meets me is not something that I have ever wanted to see. Werewolves are everywhere and fighting to the death. The stench of blood and death is in the air.Nearby, several wolves are torn apart laying lifeless in a pool of their own blood on the ground while several other dead werewolves are sc
Wyatt POVKatelyn and I stand on either side of the wounded beta. We take our hands off the beta as he opens his eyes. After shifting back to his human form as we heal him, he looks between my mate and me, before he asks, “What happened? I thought I was going to die.”I shake my head. “Not today. We won’t let that happen.”A faint smile dances across Katelyn’s face. “We brought you back, and we will heal others too, as the battle continues.”Before the beta can ask anymore, I say, “Since you are back, we will go onto the next one.”Katelyn and I stand up and look around the battlefield, while the beta glances between my mate and me. However, we don’t get any rest, as Zee and Scott bring another severely injured warrior from one of our packs. The beta continues to sit and watch us as Katelyn and I take the injured
I burst into the clearing. The growls and howls of battle have been ringing through the forest, but I’m still surprised when I come into the clearing. Not only is Alpha Marcus’ pack here, but all of his allies, along with all of our allies. The clearing is full of werewolves. All of them are fighting with everything that they have. Our first wave of warriors appears from the forest at the same time that Katelyn, Ford, Bridget and I arrive. The plan is to have Katelyn and Bridget stay along the sidelines to use their abilities to locate people and heal them, if needed. The key person who we are trying to locate is Alpha Marcus.I glance around the field. I see a lot of blood and the smell of death is in the air, while fangs and claws continue to fly everywhere, but I’m not seeing Alpha Marcus yet. Before I can ask, Bridget states via the mind link, “Alpha Marcus isn’t here y
Mason POVWyatt has given the signal that things will happen fast now. Alpha Marcus has people trying to find out who is meddling with his allies’ companies. It is only a matter of time now. However, we still will not bring the physical fight to our pack lands. That doesn’t mean that our allies won’t see the war coming to them, though. When Alpha Marcus realizes our pack is behind everything, our allies won’t be safe either.Luckily, we have come up with a plan for that. Donna’s old pack is more than willing to have the physical fight on their pack lands, which is actually the best location. Her former pack’s lands are at the edge of Alpha Marcus’ alliance pack lands. On the other hand, our alliance packs are located practically in a semi-circle around her old pack, which is why it makes perfect sense to have the physical fight there.
Katelyn POV“I said that I’m just tired. There is no need to have the doctor look at me.” I scan the small group of people in my bedroom. Yes. My bedroom.I woke up just a few moments ago to Wyatt, Ford, Bridget and Dr. Bright standing beside the bed. They are all looking down at me, but I honestly don’t have the energy to fight right now. I’m just so tired.Bridget smiles and sits down on the bed next to me. She gently grabs my hands. “Katelyn, I saw the last two puzzle pieces. That is why we are here.”Wyatt huffs, “You still haven’t told me why you brought the doctor with you or who the last two pieces are.”With Bridget still looking at me, she smiles and gently rubs her thumbs against the back of my hands. “Their names are Max and Trish.”Wyatt sighs. “Okay. When are
