HER BODY ACHED ALL over. Her brain felt like it was trying to break free of her skull. For fuck’s sake, did these people know nothing of central heating?
Lily pulled a thick blanket up over her head. She could feel her bones creaking with the slow movements. She wanted to cry out in pain, but bit her tongue.
Lily swallowed, and rolled over as carefully as possible. This attempt wasn’t enough to end her horrible existence. However, it was at the top of her list of most painful attempts.
If a vampire couldn’t kill her, then what could? What would? Lily plotted on the question. What else was out there? What else would willingly end her suffering if she properly provoked them?
The bed shifted, and she was forced to roll even furth over. The blanket was pulled off of her face, and she was greeted with a pair of baby blue eyes. Lush lips were pulled into a sultry smirk, and a tiny fang was displayed. Gods, how she wanted to lick it.
“Forgive me, I saw you move, and I assumed you were awake.” His voice was as smooth as silk. Sweet, sweet music to her ears. “Cas is a little incapacitated at the moment. I’ll be taking care of you until he’s better.” He reached out and brushed a wild curl from her face. His skin was as smooth as his voice.
“Is he alright?” Why do you care? She scolded herself. Stupid girl. It did nothing to curve her concern.
He chuckled. “He’s fine. Just matters of his beast to attend to.” He caressed her cheek, and she could’ve sworn she saw hues of violet swirl in those baby-blues. He pulled his hand back.
“I.. I don’t think I got your name,” she stuttered. Was that the sound of her teeth chattering? The noise was painful to listen to.
He swept her into his arms, and held her close. Tightly. Oh, he smelled so delectable. Like sweet heat and wanton nights. It made her swallow hard. “Elias,” he said.
“I’ll have to remember that.” She made a silent note. Not that it was possible, but she wouldn’t get these men mixed up.
“Trust me, you will.” He put his thumb beneath her chin, forcing her to look up at him. Elias lowered his head, his lips almost touching her. His tongue flicked out and grazed her lips. “Fuck,” he groaned.
Lily swallowed hard. His scent intensified, and suddenly she wanted nothing more than to have her hands all over him. She was hungry for him, for his skin against hers. For his wandering hands.
Control yourself. A voice warned her—calm and cool. This is not a man you wish to trifle with. There was aggression in its tone.
But.. She whimpered back. Lily found herself leaning in for a kiss. She needed to feel his lips against hers, almost as much as she needed breath or water.
No. The aggression amplified.
“How can I make you more comfortable?” He sat her back down on the bed. Elias tousled the top of her hair, and smiled.
She blinked at him, confused. “Huh?” Lily pulled herself from the haze of desire.
“Look at me.” He forced her to focus on him. “I promised the others, I would not do anything to you. Not without your permission.” She watched him swallow—hard. “Even if it’s against my own nature.” His eyes trailed across her body, making her flesh burn with white-hot desire.
“Your nature?” Lily leaned backwards, relaxing back onto her elbows. She watched him intently.
He leaned to the side, and she watched a tail whip out from beneath him. Elias smirked, his tiny fangs appearing to elongate. “I am an incubus. A demon of sex.” His eyes fell to half mass.
Lily found herself backing up. Sex demon? She swallowed. These men are going to kill me. She swallowed a whimper.
“Don’t be afraid, pet. I won’t ever touch you unless you want or need me to.” He straightened himself out, his tail disappearing as quickly as it appeared.
“Your tail.” She sat up, trying to look behind him. “It’s gone,” Lily gasped.
He chuckled. “You like it?” Elias cocked a brow, whipping his tail back out. He placed it just at the tips of her fingers.
She couldn’t stop herself from stroking the length of it. It was smooth, and soft to the touch. The long, black length of it seemed elastic. It almost made her wonder how much control he had over it.
Lily watched him swallow hard. He strained against her touch. Did touching this appendage affect him that deeply? She wondered how taking his tail in her hand like a shaft would affect him.
Her lush lips pulled into a smirk. She knew she shouldn’t have, but she just couldn’t help herself. Lily gently fisted his tail, stroking up and down and softly as possible.
Oh, the sound he made was carnal. Deep, in his chest. Gods, it was so enticing. “You’re going to make it difficult to keep my promise, if you keep doing that.” Elias thumbed her bottom lip. “You are in no condition for that.” His tongue flicked out, tracing her top lip.
She gasped. “You have such control over it.” It has such control over you. She mentally noted.
Lily wrapped her hand around the back of his neck, and the burning desire she felt was in full flame. It consumed her, demanding her to take his mouth with hers. How could she deny it?
Lily leaned into him. Their lips pressed into his, and everything around her faded to ash.
“You’ll kill your mate with the depths of your desire,” a warning voice said. The scenery around her whirled around her.
Flames and brimstone hung on the walls. The heat was intense, making her throat so dry. Her feet burned so badly.
“If you don’t tame yourself, she’ll die before you can create an offspring.”
Passion devoured her whole. Dear god, his wondering hands were everything. They caressed so gently, so perfectly. As his lips pulled from her, his breath fanned across her skin.
Lily couldn’t stop the moan that escaped her lips. It felt so right to have his hands all over her. To have his wondering lips grazing her skin. Teasing the sweetest spots on her body.
You must stop this! The voice warned her again. Did the premonition mean nothing to you?
She wanted to make it matter. She wanted to make it all matter, but she couldn’t. Lily wrapped her legs around his waist, and he settled his hands on her hips. Fuck!
He nibbled on her neck, and she moaned again. She felt his lips curl into a smile against her. She couldn’t be the only one receiving. She wouldn’t let that happen.
Lily grinded against the growing shaft between her legs. The heat of her sex was almost unbearable on its own. This, tipped her over the edge. They both threw their heads back with moans of wanton release.
Lily reached behind him, fisting his tail.
Elias snaked his fingers up the back of her head, and gripped her hear tightly. He pulled, and she gasped. “If you were mine to claim first,” he said through pants. He got in her ear, “I’d fuck you until the sun no longer rose, and the night ruled.” He grazed her neck with one of his fangs, making her shiver.
Lily guided her hand up and down the slick appendage. “Sounds like a good time,” she purred to him. “And a promise.” She licked her lips.
Stop this now! The voice protested.
Lily felt a rising pulse of power, threatening to break free. She tried to force it back down, but to no success. It was too much to contain. As it exploded, Elias went flying, and her head smashed against the headboard.
The lustful haze deteriorated. She felt dizzy, weak. Empty almost. She looked at Elias, her heartbeat pounded in her ears. “What did you do to me?” She rubbed the back of her head.
“I’m sorry. I was asked to weaken you.” He adjusted himself on the floor. “I didn’t think you would be strong enough to force me off.” Elias hopped to his feet.
Her eyes narrowed at him. “Who told you to weaken me?” Anger wasn’t an emotion she usually found herself experiencing. Anxiousness, fear and sorrow, yes—but anger was a no.
Lily kicked her legs over the edge of the bed. She tried to stand, but didn’t have the strength on her own, so she used the nightstand as leverage. “Who told you to do this to me?”
She could feel the tears welding in her eyes. Lily had lost track of time, but she knew she had been taken advantage of twice in such a short span of time. Never again.
Playing stupid games, wins you stupid prizes. The voice scorned her. Now you’ll listen. Damn right she would listen now.
“Now, now,” he tsked her. Elias took a step towards her, and she put her arms out between them. “You should lay back down, pet.”
Her blood started to boil. “Do not tell me what to do.”
ELIAS WAS SUDDENLy realizing just how much he had messed up. He could see it written on her expression. He could feel it in the power radiating from her pores. It wasn’t in the best interest for himself to cross this woman, but how could he ignore the demands of his friend? Donte made a very convincing point in keeping her weak. The weaker she was, the less damage she could do to their home. The less people she could hurt. The more tameable she could be.If Elias would’ve had more control, she would’ve had a permanent siphon in her. He’d be able to take a permanent tap of her powers, and they would never have to worry.By the gods, she had so much untethered lust in her. It was as if she had never allowed herself to experience true pleasure. As if she’d never dwelled on her most carnal desires. That couldn’t have been the truth though. If it was, then Elias couldn’t allow himself to be near her. He wouldn’t be able to trust himself to even so much as smell her lovely, sultry scent.Ye
HE COULDN’T IMAGINe how things could get any better. Their mate was actually living, and breathing. Granted, it took the better part of several millennium for her to finally exist, but she was there. She was theirs. His.Ours. His beast purred with contentment. It stretched its back in a long pose. She’s ours, and I will not share her.Caspius had to hold down his chuckle. Truth be told, his kind were quick to fall into the haze of their mates. However, the mythology around it was so distorted by outsiders.Mates of shifters were important. They were loved, cherished and taken care of. The knowledge of their presence is always sensed. When they are found, a shifter’s beast knows. It’s undeniable, and when they’re finally able to mark their mates, the bond is permanent.Shifter’s lent their powers to their mates, especially if they were mortal. Their healing capabilities became their mate’s. Their instincts were their mate’s.Caspius couldn’t hold back his smile. There was so much prid
CASPIUS REFUSED To leave her side. He barely gave Isla the space that she needed to properly work on Lily. He couldn’t help it though. He needed to be there. He wanted her to know that he would be there in her darkest of hours, even if he wasn’t there this time.I should’ve been there. He mentally scorned himself. I should’ve been there to protect her. She shouldn’t have to be here, once again. At this point, we might as well wrap her in bubble wrap, and keep her locked up. His beast shook its head. She’s so fragile.Given her circumstances, yes she was. How could he blame her though? Lily had been through more traumatizing shit—in such a short time frame—than most people deal with in their lifetime. Her fragility was probably going to be a long lasting effect. That was going to have to change if she was going to last in this world. Hell, if she was going to last at all.“She should be okay. Make sure she applies the antibiotic ointment to her wound every couple of hours. She should s
EVERYTHING WAS BEcoming a bit too much to handle. It was too much at once. Being a seer. Vampires, incubus, shifters, chimeras… Having a mate—let alone three of them. It was intense. If Lily was being honest to herself, everything that happened in the last twenty-four hours or so was enough to have her spiraling into a panic attack. Why hadn’t she had one yet? Perhaps it had something to do with the eye-candy male before her.Caspius had a sort of air around him. It comforted her, and chased away even the worst of her demon. Yet, every voice inside her head screamed at her to put as much distance as possible between them. They demanded separation, or all three men might be her ruin.Lily had it in her. There was no attachment. There was however carnal desire for Caspius and Elias both—despite the incubus’s manipulative seduction. She couldn’t say anything about Donte. The vampiric asshole both infuriated her, and frightened her. She pitied him over his past, but believed he should be
Lily did her best to breathe slowly. She thought a little liquid courage would have done her some good. After a glass of whiskey, she felt much worse. She kept to the outskirts of the party. Lily kept her head down, to avoid eye contact. If she didn’t look at people, hopefully they wouldn’t talk to her.“Oh, my gosh! Isn’t this party awesome?” Well, she could only hope.Lily looked up slightly. A petite, blonde stood in front of her. Her short shorts, and figure squeezing tank top made her delectable to the prying eyes of men. Of course, she was probably wanting the attention.“Hi! I’m Emma.” She winked at her, the thick frame of her lashes barely moving.Lily waved her hand. She rubbed her arm up and down.“Not much of a talker, are you?” Emma giggled. She was obviously just a little tipsy.Lily shook her head, trying to back away from the blonde girl. Unfortunately, Emma wasn’t going to let her if so easily. “Excuse me.” She tried to get away again.“Wait, where are you going?” Emma
SHE WAS STILL GATHering her wits. Too much happened all at once, and she didn’t know what to believe at this point. She knew one thing for sure, that bastard of a boss raped her. Even worse, she wasn’t strong enough to fight him off. She just submitted. Stood there and let it happen. As her stomach curdled, and her skin crawled at the thought of the incident. She wanted to puke again. She needed to puke again. There was nowhere for her to, though.Things were moving too fast. Perhaps it wasn’t the memory but the motioned sickness. Lily didn’t think she could move so quickly, yet...“Forgive me. I know you’re probably sick, but this is the quickest method of travel I can give. Your wounds are pretty severe.” God, how his voice was smoother than silk. It could soothe even the most rowdy of beasts. He pulled her close to his chest. His scent enveloped her, and she could barely contain a moan. He smelled like campfires and winter nights. Oh, it was lovely.“We have a healer who should be
LILY COULDN’T PIECe this shit together. Things were still happening too fast. That man.. That beautiful man brought her to a glass clad room. She assumed it was a doctor’s office. She was right. After snooping around, she found all sorts of tools that belonged to a surgeon. At least that was what she thought. Inside the cabinets were sterile needles, and a small vial of clear medicine. Tongue depressors, cotton balls and band aids were lined up in containers on the counter tops. There was a lone operating table in the middle of the room, with a tray of surgery tools beside it.“Where the hell am I?” She continued to look around. The bright lights of the room stung her eyes, and made her dizzy. It was a reminder of how much she hated hospitals. There was too much space. There was too much quiet. Too much loneliness. If it weren’t for the heavy medications her psychiatrist had prescribed her, she’d be hearing voices. She’d be having a nervous breakdown. Hell, she might even bang her hea
LILY JUST WANTED a break. She just wanted to sleep. She needed to sleep. Lily hadn’t slept in almost a week, and the events of tonight would keep her up even longer. How was she supposed to believe something as ridiculous as the existence of supernatural creatures? It was wild, and fantastical! It was the type of thing that almost put her in the nuthouse. She knew better than to admit the existence of supernatural beings, yet that doctor was so opened about it.Isla answered all of Lily’s questions. She didn’t show any signs of deterring from such beliefs. Lily did everything in her power to shake her. Then Isla did the unthinkable. She grew a pair of delicate wings. They sprouted out of her back. Oh, how they were so beautiful. Lily wanted to trace the swirling patterns engraved in their transparent forms. Light caused rainbows glimmer in those beautiful wings.“Do you believe now?” Isla cocked her brow at her. She gave a toothy smile, and Lily caught a glimpse of small little fangs.
