NIKLAUS

I stood in my office, my eyes fixed on the comms device in front of me. I had just finished speaking with my mother, and I was still reeling from our conversation. She had told me to stop being hostile to Max, to try to see her as an asset rather than a liability. I wasn't sure if I could do that, but I was willing to try.

I took a deep breath and focused on the task at hand. I needed to contact Shane and inform him of our decision to move forward with the mission to survey the uncultivated parts of New Eden.

I activated the comms device and waited for Shane to answer. When he finally did, his voice was laced with excitement.

"Klaus, what's going on? Have you made a decision about the NX-5?" he asked.

I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But Shane was a trusted ally, and I knew I could count on him to keep our secrets at least for now.

"Shane, we've decided to move forward with the another mission," I said, my voice low and serious. "But I need you to hold off for now.

HENRY I stood outside Arlo's office, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door. I had been thinking about this moment for weeks, ever since I had first started noticing the little things that were wrong with our facility. The outdated security systems, the inefficient technology, the general feeling of disorganization that seemed to permeate every aspect of our operations.I knocked on the door, and Arlo's voice called out for me to enter. I stepped inside, feeling a sense of nervousness that I quickly pushed aside."Arlo, I need to talk to you about something," I said, getting straight to the point.Arlo looked up from the papers he was studying, a hint of curiosity in his eyes. "What is it, Henry?" he asked.I took a deep breath, launching into my well-rehearsed speech. "I think it's time for a total cleaning of the facility," I said. "We need to update our security systems, advance our technology, and just generally get our house in order. I've been thinking about this for

NIKLAUS I walked into the training room, expecting to find it empty. But instead, I was surprised to see Max standing in the center of the room, her eyes fixed intently on the target in front of her. She was training herself, pushing her limits and testing her skills.I stood there, frozen in place, as I watched her move with a fluidity and precision that I hadn't seen before. Her powers were growing stronger, and she was learning to control them with a mastery that was impressive.I didn't want to interrupt her, didn't want to break the concentration that she had worked so hard to achieve. So I stood there, watching her, as she trained herself with a focus and determination that I admired. As I watched, I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction. Max was coming into her own, developing her skills and abilities with a speed and agility that was remarkable. HENRY I sat in the dimly lit room, surrounded by the familiar faces of my colleagues. Cora was to my left, her expression serious as she began to brief Arlo on our findings from the earlier clean out."We've carried out the total clean out of the ground facility ," she said, her voice steady. "And we've found something interesting....One which is an obvious threat from Vortex"Arlo's eyes narrowed, his interest piqued. "What is it?" he asked, his voice low and even.I spoke up, my voice measured. "It looks like someone may have accessed our surveillance system remotely.....And by someone we mean Vortex. We're not sure who or how, but it's definitely possible that they have been watching us from the outside.....Thankfully they had access to only the main area as the main rooms don't have surveillance cameras."Arlo's expression turned thoughtful, his eyes clouding over as he processed the information. "That's not good," he said finally. "We need to get to the bottom of this and find o

My mother, sitting in the living room, looked up at me with a calm, collected expression."Mother, we need to talk," I said, my voice low and even. She raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what's this about, Henry?"I took a deep breath, trying to keep my temper in check. "You went to Shane's house, didn't you? You went behind my back and started snooping around."My mother's expression didn't change, but a hint of defiance crept into her voice. "Since you refused to tell me anything about your sister's whereabouts, I had to take matters into my own hands. Shane was the only person who still seemed to care about Max."I felt my anger spike, and I took a step closer to her. "You had no right to do that. You're just going to push Shane away, just like you're pushing me away....What you're doing can get him into trouble, I even began to suspect him for a moment that he was up to no good."My mother stood up, her eyes f

MCKENNA I just finished checking on Max as I was told of her outburst earlier today, Klaus was not looking very pleased with me at all and I too was beginning to blame myself for what had happened. I stood before Klaus, his eyes blazing with anger and accusation. "You're the one who's been pushing her too hard, Mother," he spat, his voice venomous. "You're the one who's responsible for her outbursts."I felt a pang of guilt and regret. Klaus was right. I had been pushing Max to her limits, trying to accelerate her training and get her ready for the missions ahead. But I had forgotten the delicacy of her powers, the fragility of her control."Klaus, I'm sorry," I said, my voice soft and contrite. "I was wrong to push her so hard. I should have taken a more gradual approach, given her more time to develop her skills and control her powers."Klaus's expression didn't change, but I could sense a slight softening in his demeanor. "You were being selfish, Mother," he said, his voice still

We need you to be ready as soon as possible."Max's face fell slightly, and she looked uncertain. "What's going on, McKenna? MAXINE I walked into the meeting room, my heart racing with excitement. I had been thinking nonstop about our problem, and I was convinced that I had come up with a solution and analyzed the plan with Alice, Lena and Pen.As I scanned the room, I saw the Phoenix-5 members seated around the table, their faces serious and intent. Klaus was there, too, his eyes narrowing slightly as he caught sight of me.I took a deep breath and began. "I've been thinking a lot about our problem, and I think I might have a solution," I said, trying to sound confident. The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to me. I could feel Klaus's gaze on me, his expression unreadable."I was thinking about New Eden," I continued. "We all know that it's a vast territory, but what if I told you that there are still some uncultivated parts that people don't inhabit? Parts that are over the border, but still safe?.....We read about it in school but some people do not exactly believe that."Ezra raised an eyebrow, hi
