The last bell ring signaling our day has end. I gathered my books and bag then head to my locker. Opening my locker, I shove all my books inside it and closed my locker.
"Val." I turned around to see Liam calling me "What's wrong?"
"I was just wondering why you disappear at lunch." oh crap! "Oh.. I was a- taking a phone called from my grandma. You know how my grandma is if I ignore her calls." he chuckles lightly.
"Yeah, she will be pissed. Does your grandma still hates me?" I laughed "Why are you laughing?"
"No, I just can't forget about that day." Liam rolls his eyes "Ha ha laugh all you want."
So in case you're wondering why Liam asked that, cause my grandma dislike him. Why? Well first, Liam told me he bumped in to a old lady at the sidewalk cause he was too engrossed playing his phone.
He didn't know the old lady is my grandmother and second when my grandmother bumped in to my dad plates collection and one of the plates almost fell over her head, Liam saves her from the falling plate but she assumed Liam was trying to hit her. And my grandmother hit him with her walking cane and she kick Liam out of the house.
That is one of the reason why my grandma hates him (according to Liam).
"She doesn't hate you, she just doesn't trust stranger."
"It's still the same. I'm trying to give a good impression to your grandma but its hard to impresses her." I chuckled "My grandma and my cousins will come here on Christmas, you could join us and maybe try to impress her." I suggest to Liam and his eyes lit up.
"Yeah, good idea. This time I'm sure your grandma will like me." Liam said positively. I shake my head and smile looking at him.
"Come on I will drop you to your house." Liam offered me a ride "Nah, it's fine. I'm in the mood to walk right now."
"You sure, but is dangerous you know." I looked up to him and his eyes field with concern.
"I'm fine trust me." I assured him but being the caring boyfriend he is, he's still not sure about me walking alone.
"Do you not know there's a street race not far from your house?" I scrunched my eyebrow in confusion "So? What's that have to do with me walking home alone?"
"What if they abduct you?" I bursted out laughing "Seriously Liam? No one will abduct me in the afternoon. You're exaggerating."
He sighed "I know, I'm just worried about you." putting my hands behind his neck, I kiss him passionately. "Do you trust me?"
"What kind of question is that? Of course I trust you."
"Then stop worrying about me." he was about to respond but I kiss him to shut him up. "Okay, I'll stop." I grinned and peck his lips.
"I'll be going now, love you."
"Love you too." I head towards the front door of the school "Text me if you arrived!" Liam yelled and I chuckled. What a lucky person I am to have such amazing boyfriend.
I really love my high school year. I have my best friend and my lovely boyfriend. I'm so grateful to have all of them in my life. Without one of them, my high school will probably be dull.
As I was enjoying my walk, the sky starting to rumble indicating there will be a rain soon. I start to walk hurriedly before the rain fall, hopefully it won't rain now.
"There she goes, running straight to the finish line like a true Olympics." I stop in my track and saw a car next to me. Since no one is here I assume the person will be inside that car. The passenger side has the window rolled down, I bent down a little to see the person face and what I found is my highly amuse neighbors.
"With a little practice you could beat Usain bolt." he said teasingly and I rolled my eyes.
"Ha ha very funny. What are you even doing here?"
"Going home obviously."
"Then why stop?" I raised my eyebrow "I saw you running like a little ant. So being the nice neighbor I am, I stop and offering you a ride."
I faked gasp "That's so kind of you, thanks but no thanks." I continue my walk but the rain decide to fall now, even though just a drizzle.
"You sure you won't take that offer? It's starting to rain." why won't it rain later? Why now? I don't want to be in the same car with him but at the same time I don't want my clothes to get wet.
I walked to his car and open the passenger door. I huffed in annoyance and cross my arms, glancing from the corner of my eye I saw him looking at me. I turned to him "What?" He shake his head and muttered "Nothing." he rolled up the window and continue driving.
On our way back home, we just stayed silent only the sound of the radio that field the quietness. But the sound of my stomach grumbling decided to join in. He chuckled and I looked away hiding the blush that start to form on my cheek.
Of course my stomach grumble, I only had a piece of pizza at lunch. I'm hoping we could arrived quickly so I can make ramen noodles. I looked out confused cause this isn't the way home.
"Are you lost? This isn't the way home," he only glanced at me and look back to the road completely ignoring me. Rude!
The car stop and the engine is off.
I looked around the place frowning, McDonald's?
I was about to ask him why are we here but he's already going out the car. I followed suit.
"Why we're not on the way home?" I asked, he shrugged and walked inside. I sigh and follow him inside, he looked at me raising his eyebrow gesturing me to order. Looking at the menu, I decide to order my favorite menu every time I went to McDonald's.
"I'll have quarter pounder with cheese-meal."
"I'll have quarter pounder without cheese and coke."
"That will be $9.13." I took out my wallet but he beat me and pay the food. "Here you go" we took our bags of burger and walked away to find a place to seat.
We settled in the seat near the window, I sat across from him and put my food at the table. He start unwrapping his burger but I only looked at him frowning. He realized my stares and looks up to me "what?"
"Why are you bringing me here?"
"Cause I'm hungry."
"But we're not far away from home, you could eat at your house."
"My mom isn't home." he start eating his burger.
"Why do you pay for my food?" he puts his burger down and looked at me annoyed "you're so noisy, can you just eat now." he continue eating his burger while playing with his phone.
I don't want to eat before he answer my question but my stomach grumble at the food in front of me. I took my burger out and unwrapped it. Taking a bite from the burger, I almost moan by the deliciousness of the Patty. It's so good and it's been a while I eat McDonald.
Mom didn't let me eat McDonald or any other junk food too often cause is not healthy. She let me eat junk food 5 times in a month. Actually before that she only let me eat 2 times in a month cause once I got sick by eating a lot of junk food and she scolded me.
We both eat in silence while pretending to busy ourselves but I decided to start a conversation with him. No harm in that right.
"You know before you came, there's a news about a new student that will transferring to whale coast high school," I know we have a hideous name and I'm still wondering why it's called whale coast high school.
He looked up from his phone "How do you guys know?"
"Let's just say we have a student that knows everything." I drink my cola.
"And what do you think of the new student?" I looked up, putting my my finger under my chin. What do I think of him?
I turned to him "Actually, I didn't expect you to be the students." he put his phone down, interested to what I'm saying.
"What do you expect then?"
"I was expecting a girl actually but if its a boy, I expect him to be sweet, not rude, being able to introduce himself, didn't kidnapped a girl that was walking home, and attractive."
"You sound like you're mocking me." I shook my head "I didn't but if you feel that way, it's fine by me."
"I thought you know my name, we introduced ourselves yesterday." he said "Nope," I said popping the 'p' "I didn't catch that." he rolled his eyes "Let me introduce myself then, my name is Tyler Williams, I just moved from California to Chicago. I didn't kidnapped a girl instead I was saving the girl from the rain and I am strikingly attractive." he smirked arrogantly at the end.
Boys and their ego.
I rolled my eyes "lo que sea" muttering in Spanish. He raised his eyebrow "What was that?"
"Um.. Why did you move from California?"
Tyler shrugged "don't like living there. Your turn" he said. "Turn what?"
"Introduce yourselves," he took a bite from his burger. "I thought you know my name." he swallowed his food "Nope, I didn't catch that." Tyler said mocking me.
"Fine, my name is Valerie Hernandez. I'm cuban-american and I was born and lived in Chicago, and I'm your kind and sweet neighbor." I force a sweetly smile
He scoffs "You're far from sweet."
"And you're far from the word attractive." we looked at each other intensely than bursted out laughing. "I think we're going to be good neighbors." I said and he smirked teasingly "We are?"
"Never mind." we continue to eat our food more comfortable and less quite. We even have a light chat but nothing to personal. After we're done eating, Tyler took me home. I thank him for the ride and food and he said he was just showing his kindness to his new neighbors. I rolled my eyes at that cause I known he was mocking me.
I went inside and found that my mom is not home. She must be at the restaurant helping dad. I head straight to my room and plopped myself at my bed. I guess Tyler is not that bad for now.
My eyelids are getting heavy and slowly I drift down to sleep.
"You're up early." I turned around to see my dad walking inside the kitchen. "Good morning dad." my dad walked to the coffee machine to make himself a coffee."Morning sweetie." I took a bite of my toast and looked at my dad."Where's mom? She always wakes up early.""She still asleep. We have quite a lot of customer last night, so she's tired. You could give us a hand at the diner next time." my dad said and I shook my head quickly "No no, I helped enough last time.""It's not that bad, you're just getting used to it." I scoffed "It's bad dad, I accidentally tripped at my own foot and the order I was going to serve him, flew to that guy face and don't forget the looked he was giving me.""I gave him free charge and that man looks happy. So you could come back cause I need your help." I shoved the last toast to my mouth and drink my milk. Once I was finished, I stood up and placed my plate in the sink."Maybe some other time. I have to go da
After English, Carmen and I went straight to the cafeteria and quickly get in line so we don't have to wait 15 minutes to get our lunch. After we're done paying our food, we walked to our usual table where Julia already sitting there eating her lunch."Hey girl, how's class?" Carmen asked Julia and we both take a seat."Bad." Julia said with a scowled on her face."What's wrong?" Carmen asked."Andy kept bothering me at second period that I can't even understand what the teacher explaining.""You're upset cause you can't understand what was the teacher explaining?" Julia nodded and I shook my head while opening the sandwich wrappers."You sure you're not a nerd?" I said and Julia glares at me. "Hey! I just want to graduate with a good grades." Julia said defensively. "This is why she still single." Carmen said and Julia throw her cucumber at her.I took a bite of my chicken sandwich and moan in deliciousness. Good thing our cafeteria
I slam shut my locker and make my way out from the school. The day is finally over and I can't wait to go home."Woah, what's with the face?" Carmen came up and raised her eyebrow. "Nothing.""You're nothing sounds like something." I groan. "I'm annoyed at Tyler.""Why?" We walked out from the school entrance "Cause he beat me at P.E!" Carmen bursted out laughing and I turned to her frowning."Sorry." I rolled my eyes "So what did he do?""We were running laps and he tease me then he asked to have a race. I refused but he said that I'm scared which I'm not, so I agree with him and we have a race." Carmen raised her eyebrow "That doesn't sound so bad.""Yeah it doesn't and I ended up doing what he says." Tyler is such a jerk. Why did I even agree to that anyways? I am so stupid."You mean like an asisstant?" I shook my head "He didn't actually said that but he says he will be saving his prize for important cause, so I assume it will be
The smell of Bacon hit my nostrils and I instantly woke up. I immediately jump out of bed and went downstairs and found my dad cooking breakfast."Morning dad." my dad turned around while holding a pan and slid down the bacon to the plate. "Morning sweetie.""Shouldn't you be at the diner?" I took a sit at the bar stool and munch a piece of Bacon."I will be going after having breakfast." nodding my head, I stood up and grab a milk from the fridge and went back to my seat."So what are you doing today? Do you have any plans?" I scrunched my eyebrow "Um.. No," he clapped his hands "Great then you could help me out in the diner.""What? Why? I told you that I don't want to besides is Saturday.""Exactly, that's why I asked you to help me at the diner. Weekend are always pack." I groan."There's mom right? I have something to do." my dad cross his arms over his chest and raised his eyebrow "Like what?""Like, a..." Come on think,
On Sunday, I was home alone while my parents went to church. I usually go with them, then we will have family time afterward. But today, I'm not feeling it. it's not because I'm lazy, my body is aching due to yesterday. My legs and arms are sore from going back and forth and taking orders. So I decided to stay back home curl up in my bed.Sunday has passed, now is Monday again. I woke up early then getting ready for school. I head to the kitchen and usually, I find my dad cooking breakfast but today he's not present. He probably still sleeping cause I saw his key car on top of the counter.I made myself a cereal cause I'm too lazy to Cook. Pouring a big amount of cocoa puffs cause I'm hungry then pour the milk afterward. After I'm done with my breakfast, I grab my bag and head out to school. Plugging an earphone to my ear, I played 'she looks so perfect' by 5 seconds of summer. For me, this song is just perfect to start a day. After 10 minutes
"Hey, Val! Your shift is over." Trevor yelled from his office. "Just a minute more!" I yelled back without looking at him. I just need to tighten the gas cap and done.I dusted my hands and smile proudly at the cars I just finished repair. The first one is kinda difficult, I even asked Evan for help but it's finally fixed. The second one is quite simple and it only took me 30 minutes to fix it.Walking to the locker room, I got changed and shoved my jumpsuit to the locker. I jump out of the locker room yelling bye to everyone and make my way to the bus stop. After 30 minutes, I arrived at the bus stop near my house and walked for about 10 minutes."I'm home," I said and head to the kitchen and saw my mom taking the blueberry muffin out from the oven. "You're finally home." my mom turned around and smile at me. I spotted a brownie on the table that has been cut and attempt to grab it. But as usual, my mom smacks my hand away and glares at me."Wash your ha
The following day is the same as usual. But the difference is, I was trying to avoid Tyler. The keyword try. Sadly I can't avoid him cause we sat at the same table. Every time I looked at Tyler, I instantly remember that incident and it makes me flustered. For me, it was a bit awkward, again. Especially if we're left alone but for Tyler, it was nothing. He didn't feel awkward at all. He acts as nothing happened. How I wish I could act like him.The good thing is we're back as it was. No awkward tension.Liam told me why he has been missing lunch lately since he's the captain, his coach wanted this year's team to win especially if we're against our school rival."Valerie, you don't want to come?" My dad showed up in front of the garage. "No dad, I'm busy.""I thought after last week you would enjoy helping me." I looked up to see my dad."I do enjoy but I want to try and fix this old thing." I gesture towards the classic
Tyler WilliamsDid I almost kiss her? It would be stupid of me if I did. But she looks nice though. The black dress and her natural face. It's a fresh sight to see. When I was in California, most girls in my school always wears a lot of makeup. They never go out to show their natural face. I think they are embarrassed at their own face.I sat next to my mom and Valerie sat next to her mom so we're facing each other. We start pilling our plate with the food on the table."The food is very delicious Mrs. Williams," Valerie said. I agree with her the food is delicious as usual."Thank you dear and please call me Miranda. I feel old if you call me Mrs. Williams.""Okay, Mrs. Wi- I mean Miranda," Valerie said shyly. She looks cute.Wait, what? Cute? I never said cute to a girl before except my cousin. The first time I said cute to her was a week ago when I saw her in a bra. Thinking about that, it makes me wanna laug
Valerie HernandezThe past few days had been surprisingly okay. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. I was happy that I was no longer fighting with Tyler, and even Liam had admitted his wrongdoings and apologized. It was a welcome change, and I was grateful for the peace that had settled over. However, I don’t know about Tyler and Liam. But it seems like they haven’t gotten over the fight yet. Tyler broke Liam nose and even after a week, the bruised is still visible. Whereas Tyler only had a small cut on his lips and bruised knuckles, but the rest is fine.Liam and I no longer shared the same table at lunch, but we still acknowledged each other with a small smile or a simple "hey" as we passed in the hallways. It was a far cry from the tension that had once existed between us, and I was glad that we had finally been able to move past it.Then there was Tyler. Despite still having detention, he was finally back at scho
Tyler WilliamsThe next day dawned with a heavy sense of regret weighing on my shoulders. As I tried to approach Valerie, she quickly avoided me, slipping away before I could even say a word. Even at school, she managed to evade me, leaving me feeling like a complete idiot.I couldn't shake the guilt that gnawed at me. My behavior had been completely uncalled for. Valerie had been there for me yesterday, worried about me, and instead of being grateful, I had pushed her away like some kind of jerk. The next day was no different. I woke up early, hoping to catch Valerie before she left for school, but it seemed she had gone with her dad again, slipping through my fingers once more. Another missed opportunity to talk to her, to make things right.Feeling frustrated and desperate, I headed to the auto shop to see if Trevor could help me. I needed to know Valerie's work schedule, but when I asked Trevor, he refused to tell me. Apparently, it was at Valerie's request."Come on, Trevor," I p
Tyler WilliamsI waved my hands triumphantly from inside my car, a wide, arrogant smile plastered on my face as the host announced me as the winner. The crowd roared with excitement as I drove my car out of the rink, the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. As soon as I stepped out of the car, a familiar voice called my name with a tone that sent shivers down my spine. I turned to see Valerie marching towards me, her expression a mix of anger and concern. Behind her were Ryan and Trevor, trying to catch up to Valerie.I felt a surge of shock and confusion. How did Valerie know I was here? And why did she look so angry? It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how she found out, with Ryan and Trevor standing right behind her.I sighed heavily as Valerie stood in front of me, her eyes blazing with anger. She wasted no time in scolding me, her words coming out furiously."Do you have any idea how crazy that was, Tyler?" she demanded, her voice trembling with emotion. "Do yo
Valerie HernandezAs I continued working on the car in the auto shop, I lost track of time, engrossed in the task at hand. Suddenly, Trevor appeared beside me, his voice breaking through the quiet hum of the workshop."Valerie, it's past your working shift," he said gently. "It's time for you to go home."I smiled at him, shaking my head slightly. "It's fine, Trevor," I replied, my voice soft with reassurance. "I just want to finish up here."Trevor approached me, leaning against the side of the car I was fixing. "Are you waiting for Tyler to come back?" he asked, his eyes searching mine for answers.I placed the tools I was holding on the workbench and let out a sigh. "Yeah," I admitted, my voice tinged with worry. "I just want to make sure he's okay after everything that's happened."I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me ever since Tyler's outburst earlier. Between his suspension, the news of his father getting married to Liam's mother, it felt like Tyler w
Valerie Hernandez"Tyler! Liam! Stop!" I screamed their name hoping for the fight to stop but it is no use. My voice drowned with the shouting and cheering from the students who gather at the parking lot to witness a fight."Both of you stop!" I tried once again but it is no use. None of them could hear me over the roar of the crowd. The cheers and shouts are getting louder. But amidst the chaos, I could only watch in horror as the fight escalated, my heart pounding in my chest. As the fight grew more serious, panic gripped me like a vice. I watched helplessly as Tyler and Liam continued to exchange blows, each one landing with sickening thuds. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I pleaded for them to stop, but my words fell on deaf ears.Just as I feared the worst, a teacher emerged from the school building, shouting for them to stop. The fight came to an abrupt halt as Tyler and Liam were pulled apart, their faces bruised and bloodied."You two, to the principal's office, now
Valerie HernandezThe next morning, I felt a wave of delight rush over me. Despite the lingering weight of yesterday's events, there was a warmth in my chest as I recalled the laughter and camaraderie shared with Tyler. But the memory of him betting on me soured the sweetness, reminding me of the reckless gamble he had made with my safety. Since he apologize, it is all in the past now and what happened had happened. Luckily, my parents are a deep sleeper so last night as I sneaked in, it was safe to say, for now.I glanced at the clock beside my bed, with a quick stretch, I threw back the covers and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, ready to face the day ahead. After a quick shower and a change of clothes, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, the scent of freshly cooked pancakes wafting through the air. My dad was at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he caught sight of me."Morning, sweetheart," he greeted m
Tyler WilliamsI watched as Valerie walked away, her back stiff with anger. Winning the race had been exhilarating, but the argument with Valerie had left a bitter taste in my mouth. I knew that my actions hadn't portrayed me as a winner, not in her eyes at least.Valerie had made a good point earlier. What if I hadn't won? What would have happened to her? It wasn't like I had wanted to bet on her in the first place, but illegal street races were rough, and you had to follow the rules, no matter how unfair they seemed.I knew that I had messed up."You okay man?" Ryan asked as he saw Valerie leaving. I shrugged my shoulders, letting out a heavy sigh. "Not great," I admitted, running a hand through my hair. "Valerie has every right to be mad at me."Ryan nodded in understanding; his expression somber. "Yeah, anyone would feel the same way if they were in her shoes," he agreed, his tone sympathetic.Trevor chimed in, his voice firm but gentle. "You need to apologize to her, Tyler," he s
Valerie HernandezAs the race was set and the crowd erupted in excitement, I felt a knot of anxiety tighten in my chest. The stakes had never been higher, and the thought of me being used as a bet in Ricky's twisted game made my blood boil. What I did not expect was Tyler agreeing to it.Before the race could start, I grabbed Tyler's arm and pulled him aside, my voice filled with frustration. "Why did you agree to bet me, Tyler?" I demanded, my tone sharp with accusation.Tyler sighed heavily, his expression pained as he met my gaze. "It's the only way, Val," he explained, his voice tinged with regret. "If I don't agree, Ricky will take my car and besides, it's the rules."I shook my head in disbelief, unable to comprehend how Tyler could have made such a reckless decision. "I can't believe you would risk everything like this," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. But before I could say more, Jae and Ryan approached us, their expressions tense with anticipation. "Tyler, the ra
I paced restlessly around my room, the weight of anticipation settling heavily on my shoulders. Through the window, I could see the faint glow of lights illuminated from Tyler's room. It seemed he was still awake, just as I suspected. With a deep breath, I glanced down at my outfit, making sure everything was in place. I had come prepared, dressed in jeans, a white tank top, and a denim jacket, paired with sturdy black boots.I sat on the edge of my bed, anxiously checking the time every few minutes. Fifteen agonizing minutes passed before the lights in Tyler's room finally flickered off. It was my cue to make my move. With careful precision, I tiptoed down the stairs, doing my best to avoid any creaks that might wake my parents. As I reached the front door, I hesitated for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest. But I couldn't let fear hold me back now. Steeling myself, I pushed open the door and stepped out into the cool night air.I made my way swiftly to Tyler's house, my footste
