I slam shut my locker and make my way out from the school. The day is finally over and I can't wait to go home.
"Woah, what's with the face?" Carmen came up and raised her eyebrow. "Nothing."
"You're nothing sounds like something." I groan. "I'm annoyed at Tyler."
"Why?" We walked out from the school entrance "Cause he beat me at P.E!" Carmen bursted out laughing and I turned to her frowning.
"Sorry." I rolled my eyes "So what did he do?"
"We were running laps and he tease me then he asked to have a race. I refused but he said that I'm scared which I'm not, so I agree with him and we have a race." Carmen raised her eyebrow "That doesn't sound so bad."
"Yeah it doesn't and I ended up doing what he says." Tyler is such a jerk. Why did I even agree to that anyways? I am so stupid.
"You mean like an asisstant?" I shook my head "He didn't actually said that but he says he will be saving his prize for important cause, so I assume it will be
The smell of Bacon hit my nostrils and I instantly woke up. I immediately jump out of bed and went downstairs and found my dad cooking breakfast."Morning dad." my dad turned around while holding a pan and slid down the bacon to the plate. "Morning sweetie.""Shouldn't you be at the diner?" I took a sit at the bar stool and munch a piece of Bacon."I will be going after having breakfast." nodding my head, I stood up and grab a milk from the fridge and went back to my seat."So what are you doing today? Do you have any plans?" I scrunched my eyebrow "Um.. No," he clapped his hands "Great then you could help me out in the diner.""What? Why? I told you that I don't want to besides is Saturday.""Exactly, that's why I asked you to help me at the diner. Weekend are always pack." I groan."There's mom right? I have something to do." my dad cross his arms over his chest and raised his eyebrow "Like what?""Like, a..." Come on think,
On Sunday, I was home alone while my parents went to church. I usually go with them, then we will have family time afterward. But today, I'm not feeling it. it's not because I'm lazy, my body is aching due to yesterday. My legs and arms are sore from going back and forth and taking orders. So I decided to stay back home curl up in my bed.Sunday has passed, now is Monday again. I woke up early then getting ready for school. I head to the kitchen and usually, I find my dad cooking breakfast but today he's not present. He probably still sleeping cause I saw his key car on top of the counter.I made myself a cereal cause I'm too lazy to Cook. Pouring a big amount of cocoa puffs cause I'm hungry then pour the milk afterward. After I'm done with my breakfast, I grab my bag and head out to school. Plugging an earphone to my ear, I played 'she looks so perfect' by 5 seconds of summer. For me, this song is just perfect to start a day. After 10 minutes
"Hey, Val! Your shift is over." Trevor yelled from his office. "Just a minute more!" I yelled back without looking at him. I just need to tighten the gas cap and done.I dusted my hands and smile proudly at the cars I just finished repair. The first one is kinda difficult, I even asked Evan for help but it's finally fixed. The second one is quite simple and it only took me 30 minutes to fix it.Walking to the locker room, I got changed and shoved my jumpsuit to the locker. I jump out of the locker room yelling bye to everyone and make my way to the bus stop. After 30 minutes, I arrived at the bus stop near my house and walked for about 10 minutes."I'm home," I said and head to the kitchen and saw my mom taking the blueberry muffin out from the oven. "You're finally home." my mom turned around and smile at me. I spotted a brownie on the table that has been cut and attempt to grab it. But as usual, my mom smacks my hand away and glares at me."Wash your ha
The following day is the same as usual. But the difference is, I was trying to avoid Tyler. The keyword try. Sadly I can't avoid him cause we sat at the same table. Every time I looked at Tyler, I instantly remember that incident and it makes me flustered. For me, it was a bit awkward, again. Especially if we're left alone but for Tyler, it was nothing. He didn't feel awkward at all. He acts as nothing happened. How I wish I could act like him.The good thing is we're back as it was. No awkward tension.Liam told me why he has been missing lunch lately since he's the captain, his coach wanted this year's team to win especially if we're against our school rival."Valerie, you don't want to come?" My dad showed up in front of the garage. "No dad, I'm busy.""I thought after last week you would enjoy helping me." I looked up to see my dad."I do enjoy but I want to try and fix this old thing." I gesture towards the classic
Tyler WilliamsDid I almost kiss her? It would be stupid of me if I did. But she looks nice though. The black dress and her natural face. It's a fresh sight to see. When I was in California, most girls in my school always wears a lot of makeup. They never go out to show their natural face. I think they are embarrassed at their own face.I sat next to my mom and Valerie sat next to her mom so we're facing each other. We start pilling our plate with the food on the table."The food is very delicious Mrs. Williams," Valerie said. I agree with her the food is delicious as usual."Thank you dear and please call me Miranda. I feel old if you call me Mrs. Williams.""Okay, Mrs. Wi- I mean Miranda," Valerie said shyly. She looks cute.Wait, what? Cute? I never said cute to a girl before except my cousin. The first time I said cute to her was a week ago when I saw her in a bra. Thinking about that, it makes me wanna laug
Valerie Hernandez"What are we going to do next?" My dad asked me."Let's go to our all-time favorite restaurant," I suggest and both of my parents chuckled seeing me so excited. On our way walking out from the church, we met Mrs. Williams and to my surprise, Tyler is there too. "Miranda is good to see you," my mom greet her then went to hug her. Didn’t they just see each other yesterday? I don’t understand my mom sometimes."Honey, this is Miranda that I told you about, our new neighbor.""Hello is nice to finally meet you, my wife can't stop talking about you." they continue to talk and it left me and Tyler out."I never thought you'll be the type of person who goes to church on Sunday morning. No offense."He shrugs "I'm not but my mom drags me here. So I have no choice."We stand in silence for a minute but then Tyler suggests something."We shoul
Valerie HernandezSunday's over and is Monday again. I got up and prepare myself to go to school. After taking a shower, choosing clothes, brush my hair, and wear a little makeup, I head downstairs to eat breakfast."Good morn- what is he doing here?!" All three heads snapped to look at me. "Shush Valerie be nice. Tyler just having breakfast with us." my mom scolded me and I pouted."Here's your breakfast dear." my dad hands me my breakfast and I took a seat at the barstool. I glance up at Tyler and found him smirking. Can he please stop smirking for a day?My mom hands me a glass of milk and I drink it feeling thirsty. "This is the delicious Mr. Hernandez." Tyler complements my dad's cook. "Thank you and please call me Jose." I suddenly choked on my drink. And three heads snapped in my direction again."Valerie! You okay dear?" My mom came beside me and patted my back. "I'm okay.""Be careful next time." I nodded and
Valerie HernandezMy eyes widening in surprise. "What are you doing here?""I was looking for you." he looks back and forth at me and Tyler as if wondering why Tyler and I are in the hallways instead at the cafeteria."Why are you guys doing here?""Um... We... Were just talking." Liam raised his brow. Did he see Tyler and I walked out from the janitor's closet? I hope not. "Oh about what?""We have classes together" I reply. Liam looks at us suspiciously at first then nodded. "Oh ok. Come on then, you guys haven't had lunch.""I think I'll pass, the class will start in 6 minutes and I won't have time to change." Liam pouted. "You know I've been dreading for lunchtime since I rarely see you." I rolled my eyes. "Well, you're too busy with your stuff," I said and cross my arms over my chest."Oh come on babe, don't be mad. You know the team will have the playoffs in 3 weeks. So we have to b
Valerie HernandezThe past few days had been surprisingly okay. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. I was happy that I was no longer fighting with Tyler, and even Liam had admitted his wrongdoings and apologized. It was a welcome change, and I was grateful for the peace that had settled over. However, I don’t know about Tyler and Liam. But it seems like they haven’t gotten over the fight yet. Tyler broke Liam nose and even after a week, the bruised is still visible. Whereas Tyler only had a small cut on his lips and bruised knuckles, but the rest is fine.Liam and I no longer shared the same table at lunch, but we still acknowledged each other with a small smile or a simple "hey" as we passed in the hallways. It was a far cry from the tension that had once existed between us, and I was glad that we had finally been able to move past it.Then there was Tyler. Despite still having detention, he was finally back at scho
Tyler WilliamsThe next day dawned with a heavy sense of regret weighing on my shoulders. As I tried to approach Valerie, she quickly avoided me, slipping away before I could even say a word. Even at school, she managed to evade me, leaving me feeling like a complete idiot.I couldn't shake the guilt that gnawed at me. My behavior had been completely uncalled for. Valerie had been there for me yesterday, worried about me, and instead of being grateful, I had pushed her away like some kind of jerk. The next day was no different. I woke up early, hoping to catch Valerie before she left for school, but it seemed she had gone with her dad again, slipping through my fingers once more. Another missed opportunity to talk to her, to make things right.Feeling frustrated and desperate, I headed to the auto shop to see if Trevor could help me. I needed to know Valerie's work schedule, but when I asked Trevor, he refused to tell me. Apparently, it was at Valerie's request."Come on, Trevor," I p
Tyler WilliamsI waved my hands triumphantly from inside my car, a wide, arrogant smile plastered on my face as the host announced me as the winner. The crowd roared with excitement as I drove my car out of the rink, the adrenaline still coursing through my veins. As soon as I stepped out of the car, a familiar voice called my name with a tone that sent shivers down my spine. I turned to see Valerie marching towards me, her expression a mix of anger and concern. Behind her were Ryan and Trevor, trying to catch up to Valerie.I felt a surge of shock and confusion. How did Valerie know I was here? And why did she look so angry? It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how she found out, with Ryan and Trevor standing right behind her.I sighed heavily as Valerie stood in front of me, her eyes blazing with anger. She wasted no time in scolding me, her words coming out furiously."Do you have any idea how crazy that was, Tyler?" she demanded, her voice trembling with emotion. "Do yo
Valerie HernandezAs I continued working on the car in the auto shop, I lost track of time, engrossed in the task at hand. Suddenly, Trevor appeared beside me, his voice breaking through the quiet hum of the workshop."Valerie, it's past your working shift," he said gently. "It's time for you to go home."I smiled at him, shaking my head slightly. "It's fine, Trevor," I replied, my voice soft with reassurance. "I just want to finish up here."Trevor approached me, leaning against the side of the car I was fixing. "Are you waiting for Tyler to come back?" he asked, his eyes searching mine for answers.I placed the tools I was holding on the workbench and let out a sigh. "Yeah," I admitted, my voice tinged with worry. "I just want to make sure he's okay after everything that's happened."I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled over me ever since Tyler's outburst earlier. Between his suspension, the news of his father getting married to Liam's mother, it felt like Tyler w
Valerie Hernandez"Tyler! Liam! Stop!" I screamed their name hoping for the fight to stop but it is no use. My voice drowned with the shouting and cheering from the students who gather at the parking lot to witness a fight."Both of you stop!" I tried once again but it is no use. None of them could hear me over the roar of the crowd. The cheers and shouts are getting louder. But amidst the chaos, I could only watch in horror as the fight escalated, my heart pounding in my chest. As the fight grew more serious, panic gripped me like a vice. I watched helplessly as Tyler and Liam continued to exchange blows, each one landing with sickening thuds. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as I pleaded for them to stop, but my words fell on deaf ears.Just as I feared the worst, a teacher emerged from the school building, shouting for them to stop. The fight came to an abrupt halt as Tyler and Liam were pulled apart, their faces bruised and bloodied."You two, to the principal's office, now
Valerie HernandezThe next morning, I felt a wave of delight rush over me. Despite the lingering weight of yesterday's events, there was a warmth in my chest as I recalled the laughter and camaraderie shared with Tyler. But the memory of him betting on me soured the sweetness, reminding me of the reckless gamble he had made with my safety. Since he apologize, it is all in the past now and what happened had happened. Luckily, my parents are a deep sleeper so last night as I sneaked in, it was safe to say, for now.I glanced at the clock beside my bed, with a quick stretch, I threw back the covers and swung my legs over the edge of the bed, ready to face the day ahead. After a quick shower and a change of clothes, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, the scent of freshly cooked pancakes wafting through the air. My dad was at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he caught sight of me."Morning, sweetheart," he greeted m
Tyler WilliamsI watched as Valerie walked away, her back stiff with anger. Winning the race had been exhilarating, but the argument with Valerie had left a bitter taste in my mouth. I knew that my actions hadn't portrayed me as a winner, not in her eyes at least.Valerie had made a good point earlier. What if I hadn't won? What would have happened to her? It wasn't like I had wanted to bet on her in the first place, but illegal street races were rough, and you had to follow the rules, no matter how unfair they seemed.I knew that I had messed up."You okay man?" Ryan asked as he saw Valerie leaving. I shrugged my shoulders, letting out a heavy sigh. "Not great," I admitted, running a hand through my hair. "Valerie has every right to be mad at me."Ryan nodded in understanding; his expression somber. "Yeah, anyone would feel the same way if they were in her shoes," he agreed, his tone sympathetic.Trevor chimed in, his voice firm but gentle. "You need to apologize to her, Tyler," he s
Valerie HernandezAs the race was set and the crowd erupted in excitement, I felt a knot of anxiety tighten in my chest. The stakes had never been higher, and the thought of me being used as a bet in Ricky's twisted game made my blood boil. What I did not expect was Tyler agreeing to it.Before the race could start, I grabbed Tyler's arm and pulled him aside, my voice filled with frustration. "Why did you agree to bet me, Tyler?" I demanded, my tone sharp with accusation.Tyler sighed heavily, his expression pained as he met my gaze. "It's the only way, Val," he explained, his voice tinged with regret. "If I don't agree, Ricky will take my car and besides, it's the rules."I shook my head in disbelief, unable to comprehend how Tyler could have made such a reckless decision. "I can't believe you would risk everything like this," I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. But before I could say more, Jae and Ryan approached us, their expressions tense with anticipation. "Tyler, the ra
I paced restlessly around my room, the weight of anticipation settling heavily on my shoulders. Through the window, I could see the faint glow of lights illuminated from Tyler's room. It seemed he was still awake, just as I suspected. With a deep breath, I glanced down at my outfit, making sure everything was in place. I had come prepared, dressed in jeans, a white tank top, and a denim jacket, paired with sturdy black boots.I sat on the edge of my bed, anxiously checking the time every few minutes. Fifteen agonizing minutes passed before the lights in Tyler's room finally flickered off. It was my cue to make my move. With careful precision, I tiptoed down the stairs, doing my best to avoid any creaks that might wake my parents. As I reached the front door, I hesitated for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest. But I couldn't let fear hold me back now. Steeling myself, I pushed open the door and stepped out into the cool night air.I made my way swiftly to Tyler's house, my footste
