Stubborn As A Mountain Goat!

It brought me great satisfaction to see the once arrogant and proud cleaning lady brought to a humbling and humiliating state as she looked completely defeated as she stepped forward; no doubt to humiliate herself further by kneeling down and apologizing to me.

That's it, go down on your knees and beg me like the peasant you are.

I adjusted my sitting position to get a proper view and feel of the moment when she will kneel before me. I don't know why' but I seem to be deriving greater joy from this than I should.

“Stop wasting time and go down on your knees," the hotel manager urged her, impatiently…

“No. I won't," she suddenly said and I couldn't believe my ears and everyone in the room also shared my reaction.

What? Is she really refusing to obey her own boss?!

”What?! Are you refusing my orders?! Have you lost your mind?!!" The hotel manager yelled at her.

“I am sorry but I can't do what you ask of me sir. I did nothing wrong. Why should I be the one to apologize to them when they were the ones that wronged me first? If anything at all it should be them to go down on their knees and apologize to me instead," she said and I couldn't help but marvel at her audacity.

”Just look at the nerve of this girl. Who do you think you are, huh?!" Hela yelled at her angrily.

“Are you running mad, Amelia ?! You want Mr. Liam to go down on his knees to apologize to you? Are you losing it?! Apologize to him now!!" Her boss was so furious that the veins of his neck were all visible as if he had snakes crawling underneath his skin.

“I am sorry Mr. Fred but I can't do that," she stood her ground.

“Don't you care about your job?!" Her boss threatened.

“I do, very much. But I value my self respect and dignity even more and I refuse to be bullied," she said determinedly, however her eyes were unsteady like she was fearful.

When the hotel manager saw he couldn't get her to do his bidding through threats and shouts he tried a more subtle and calmer approach.

Drawing closer to her. “Don't you understand this is for your own good. Mr. Liam is a very powerful and influential young man. His father is the richest man in Korea and he has political influence and power! Trust me these are not the kind of people you want as your enemy. They can literally ruin your life. So do the right and senseless thing child and apologize to him now that you still can," he said adopting a softer but soul piercing tone and Amelia  went quiet for a while probably reconsidering her decision and I was very curious to know what her next action would be.

“I will apologize,” she said, causing him to smile but then.

“But I am not going down on my knees," she further added and his smiles turned to a tight frown and I couldn't help but scoff underneath my breath.

This girl is really stubborn. Isn't she?

“What do you mean you won't go down on your knees? That's what he wants and that's exactly what you will do. When did you develop this useless pride? Poor people do not have the right to be proud. Better humble yourself this minute and do what you have to do! I won't let you cost me everything I have worked so hard over the years to achieve. I am your boss and you have to do what I tell you to do!" Mr. Fred lost his cool completely as he resumed his hostile approach. However there was a flash of determination in her eyes at that moment.

”Even if my father would ask me to go down on my knees and apologize to this man who has no respect for women I won't and my father means the whole world to me,” she was staring directly at me as she said those words then she shifted her attention to her boss.

“You might respect and fear men because of their wealth and status but I am no coward and I will only give my respect to those deserving of it," she said and his eyes dilated with his wrinkles turning into a frown.

“How dare you insult me like that?! Are you calling me a coward?!” He yelled at her.

“Prove me wrong then and do the right thing. You didn't even care to ask me what happened? You don't even care to know my own side of the story. If that's not cowardice please tell me what is?" She said, her tone a mixture of pain and anger.

“You want me to take your word over theirs? My loyalty lies with my clients. I trust their words completely. I don't need to listen to your excuses and lies," he said, obviously trying to please me but he sounded really swallow.

Both of them went back and forth with words and I grew tired of their meaningless bickering as I could see he had no power over her as I had assumed he did.

“Mr. Fred, so these are the kind of people you have as staff? Low life maggots with no manner and respect! It's only right that I shut down the whole hotel. You clearly have no control over your people," I said and he quickly fell to his knees with his face touching the floor.

“Please have mercy Master Liam. You have been our customer for years now and we have always offered you the best of service. Have we not? Please do not let this silly girl's action ruin the relationship we have built over the years. I can assure you she acted on her own accord. That's not how we operate here and I promise you she will be dealt with severely just don't close down the hotel. Please," he pleaded like a little boy and the man is over 40 years old.

Funny how I couldn't get a common cleaning lady on her knees whereas a reputable hotel manager is rolling on the floor for me. I can even get him to lick my shoes if I wanted to and this just makes me want to break the girl's stubborn, prideful spirit even more.

What makes her so special to refuse and resist me? She is poor. She has nothing. She is nothing!

Rising up from his office chair majestically. ”Very well I won't shut down your hotel as I am no bully as some have suggested but I do not ever want to see this useless girl in this premises ever again unless you all will suffer for her foolishness," I said, glaring at her and strangely I could tell she dearly needed her job from the heartbroken expression she tried so hard to hide from her face.

So what is really causing her to behave so stubbornly??

”Done! From this moment henceforth she is no longer one of our staff and I can promise you, I won't allow her to come even 100 meters near the premises," the hotel manager vowed then turned to face her.

“What are you still doing here? Get out! You are fired!" He yelled at her.

“I never liked working here anyways," Amelia  responded, but her eyes didn't match her words; they were filled with sorrow.

As she turned to leave, Hela spoke up.

“Is that all? You're just going to fire her, nothing else? I mean she literally assaulted Liam and I. She needs to be locked up in a cell better still a mental asylum because she has definitely run mad," she said and truly just getting her to lose her job wasn't satisfying enough.

For slapping me she needed to be humiliated and taught a great lesson.

“That's not a problem. I can get that arranged. Yes, she does deserve to be locked up for what she did. I totally agree with you," the hotel manager said, reaching for his phone.

He is what I call a typical ass licker, this one.

While that was going on my eyes were on the cleaning lady and I could see the apprehension in her eyes when Hela and the hotel manager were discussing about locking her up but somehow I knew that still won't be enough to break her spirit and make her apologize the way I want her to. She is stubborn like a mountain goat. Plus locking her up is one of the easiest things to do. I only need to make one call.

What's the fun in that?

“That won't be necessary. She can leave," I said, stopping the hotel manager from calling whoever he wanted to call.

“But Liam_" Hela wanted to argue but I cut her short even before she could start.

“No buts. Let her go," I said to Hela before facing Amelia .

“Leave now and remember I don't want to ever see you here again unless I might just do what they want and have you locked up forever," I told her and she stared intently at me.

I really couldn't decipher what was going on in her mind but then she finally spoke.

“Don"t worry this will be the last time you will ever see me," she said before walking out the door.

Do not be too sure about that.

“Don't you think you let her off rather too easily? I mean she hardly even suffered for what she did," Hela said clearly not satisfied with my decision.

“Do I look like the one who easily forgives?" I turned to say to her and a confused expression drew on her face before it finally lit up.

“You have a plan!"

“Of course. Losing her job is just the beginning of her suffering. By the time I am done with her she would be the one looking for me to lay on the mud to apologize. Both her and the rest of her worthless family," I said, already visualizing the pains and suffering I am going to cause her and that brought a smile to my face.

“I love the sound of that," Hela said happily, bringing me out of my thoughts.

Taking my eyes first to her before turning to face the hotel manager. “I want the file of that girl bought to me now and you are going to tell me everything you know about her," I said and he swallowed nervously.

“Of course. Anything you need, you can count on me," he answered.
