Chapter eleven

I was unpacking my last bag when I heard Emily crying. I dropped the photo frame in my hand on the bed and went to her room. I took her into my arms and started bouncing her up and down. I calmed her down before I sat on the rocking chair and laid her down on my chest rocking her asleep.

When she was asleep I carefully put her back in the crib and left quietly. I was on my way to my room when I heard Alex talking in his room

"I need that background check, Jack," I heard him

"No, it's not that I do trust her it's just that I feel like something is off with her... No, she's fantastic with the kids... Jack, get mom off the phone so we can talk," I heard him say

I decided to just go to my room and unpack the rest of my stuff. When I was done I lay on the bed and fell asleep.

I woke up around 5 am and went downstairs with my Pj's still on. I had one of my brothers' oversized t-shirts on with shorts. I went into the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee but almost pour it
