"Once upon a time, a man wandered around a vast land, looking for a home he could call his own. He passed through icy lands, grassy fields. He encountered vicious animals that tried to rob him of his life. What he only thought of was to find that place he had seen in his dream.
Those gigantic trees that could almost reach the skies. Those flocks of birds dancing around those trees. Those lions that fed on mushrooms. A land where there is peace and harmony.
He travelled for some years until he reached that place as he gazed at it from the top peak of a mountain. He just flexed his lips as the word 'Zimicah' sounded from his mouth. He was ...."
The little chatters from the children who sat on the ground listening attentively, made the teen telling the tale feel content as she shared the story that had made her jittery when she was still their age.
They were under a tree shade, taking temporary cover from the scorching sun. The six toddlers surrounded the story teller each folding their legs waiting to hear more. Words kept sprouting out from the beautiful girl, as her curly long hair danced with the wind. She was wearing a red top that only covered her chest leaving out part of her stomach. From her waist, a grey flurry skirt rested there reaching her knees. She was bare footed as she graced nature with her feet.
The group was filled with little girls of about six years. They were lovely and liked to hear stories. On the seventh day they would gather under this tree to wait for something.
"Aly!"
They all turned to look onto the other direction where a girl the age of their story teller called waving her hand. She was dark skinned with hair which was quite straight and a little long. She worn an armless green dress and like her friend, she had no shoes. She was really a true beauty.
"Adanna!" The story teller waved back at her as she dismissed the little kids. Yes it was Alyssa. She had grown beautifully and now her time had come. Time for her to let her wings shine. Sixteen years waiting for this very day.
She took off to the other side and hugged the other whom she had not seen since morning. The two walked back to the houses. They were welcomed by their friends as Alyssa got ready to attend her ceremony. She washed her face and took her yellow headband, looking in the river as she fixed some hair strands that had escaped her grasp.
After that she went to eat some pumpkins so that she wouldn't spend the night with an empty stomach. Finishing all of it, she drank some fluid before joining the crowd.
It was almost evening as they all gathered in front of the Chief's quarters, where she was going to be coronated. It consisted a cabin which was not plastered showing the bricks interchanging as it made that one structure. Beside the cabin there were two giant trees that were the tallest in the village. It had pink leaves and the buck was smooth making it hard to climb it to the top.
The chief had no guards for the village. It was so peaceful and away from any other living creatures unlike the ones inside.
Alyssa moved past her people. All being smiley and greeting those who were close to her. Those little children waving at her. They were calling her name as they complimented how pretty she looked.
She stopped when she was at the front, sitting on a sheer rock, which was carved with different patterns. It was under one of the trees and at the side a colourful feathered crown laid awaiting its owner.
When everyone had seated on the grass and some spread cloths to cover the soil so that they didn't get dirty. A group of people perfomed a traditional dance wishing blessings to their new Chief. Next performers were those little children who sang so beautifully and blew kisses her way.
All was going well, only the red moon was left to appear.
It suddenly started to darken little by little blackening as the villagers bowed to their leader. Alyssa acknowledged them as she raised her head looking at the moon that had started reddening.
For the past years, the previous chiefs had witnessed such a day and they were each gifted a power by the blood moon. The first Chief was given wisdom to improve the village's infrastructure and the like. The second, was given the ability to control the river, bringing in water by commanding it. The third, she was given the ability to communicate with the trees and water spirits. The fourth, was just kind hearted. He had no fancy powers or anything. The fifth, was an ordinary man who loved his daughter. She was the gift to him and his wife. He was Alyssa's late father.
And now it's her turn. She wondered what she would be gifted with. Maybe, an ability to control fire or to talk with the animals, or something more special. She expected something from the moon. Her heart kept pounding as she waited to attain her gift.
Right on that moment, little droplets of rain started falling, shocking the villagers who murmured to themselves some taking some few steps back from her. Some grabbing their children and shielded them from her line of vision. In an instant the little rain had changed the way they viewed and believed in her.
The showers started getting harsher and harsher, as the cloudless sky roared with the booming thunder. Lightning streaked lightening the darkness around them.
Cries were heard as the people ran about, taking shelter in their homes. Alyssa remained sitting as she looked upwards rain drops entering her eyes. Her mind was in turmoil as her sharp ears caught on what her people were murmuring about.
"Nothing like this had ever happened for the past fifty years."
"She has bad luck."
"She is cursed."
"Why would it rain when it is this clear and when it's a red moon, this is an omen."
"Kids stay away from her."
"She is not fit to be the Chief."
"Aly come over!" Adanna voiced, concerned for her friend.Still sitting on the same spot, Alyssa was drenched like a wet kitten after bath, her black hair dripping with cold water. Her face wet with tears running on her cheeks. She looked up still waiting for her gift.'Why isn't it here?'She murmured to herself as the rain continued to pour harder, making her clothes stick to her skin. She was freezing and felt very lonely. Why hadn't she received anything yet. Why was it even raining. Why is that everyone suddenly cast her aside. Confused and agonized, she ignored her dear friend's call.Seeing that she wouldn't take shelter from the rain, Adanna took an umbrella and ran to her side. Shielding her from those hateful droplets. It had to shower on this auspicious occasion. Pouring from the clear sky. Nothing like it had ever happened before. Hugging and comforting the other, Adanna vented at the villagers who were treating her friend as if she was a total stranger. More like a contagi
As they trudged towards the other path, the two found comfort in one another while they tried to shift their focus from their current situation."Aly how do you feel, you were already drenched wet and now..."Adanna didn't need to say anything more, she herself was all wet and her dress sticking to her body. Her straight hair had become curly and shrunk quite a bit. This was caused after spending so much time in water. Some of her hair strands fell on her neck resulting in a tickly sensation. The constant stickiness of their wet clothes was so irritating but they couldn't walk naked in a place they didn't know. Even if It was a place they knew, it was improper to wander about not wearing a single thing.Alyssa looked at her skirt and sighed as she removed the dirt. "Adanna what do you think is the reason I didn't receive my power." She had been thinking of this question for a while now. "Was I the cause of that storm." She continued to let it all out. "On my coronation it seemed that
"What?""Just when we thought all this is over."Alyssa and Adanna complained whilst sitting on the ground resting their backs on that very wall. They had tried pushing it back, knocking on the rock, they had tried everything only to realise they were stuck in this cave maybe for forever."How did we get inside if only we knew." Alyssa commented as she started to draw something on the space before her. "Why did granny even expect me to be a great chief, look on my first day I killed many, and we are trapped in here not knowing how we can get out of this cave. Why am I so useless."She remembered her grandma telling her stories with great heroes and she would tell her to act like one. But now it all seemed to be just talk.Adanna looked at the other as she no longer had any strength to comfort anymore. She watched as her friend drew some sort of lines connecting together. They were sitting under the spot where some of the light streaked to where they sat. She could see little of the ske
Alyssa and Adanna moved closer as asked by the stranger, they squinted their eyes trying to see through the white fog. Curious to see how he looked. When they got really close Alyssa could see a tall tree similar to the other but different in that it had black leaves that were vividly seen through the whiteness of the forest. "Are you still there?" She asked straining her ears to listen to the man."Of course little meat." She shivered as the voice came from just above her head, a little higher from where they were standing. 'Meat?' They inwardly wondered if that man on the tree was joking or being serious."Do you know this area sir." Alyssa asked in a squeaky voice which was laced with nervousness. They didn't hear a response right away as they waited for the man to get down. When she looked at the tree once again the black leaves were no longer in sight, the tree no longer had any leaf. All she could see were spooky branches still surrounded by the mist."Was it my illusion?" Alyssa
The sun was about to rise as the two girls started on with the path through the clearing. They walked on, stepping on the dry grass and passed through some ruins which were located some few meters away from where they had spent the night. "Adanna look at that, there is a village over there," Alyssa exclaimed pointing at it. Adanna looked at the houses below the hill they stood on. They had finally arrived at some place with people. Trouble had to wait, they were too tired with dealing with anything at the time. Going towards it, the two came across a slim black cow, which had its ribs threatening to pop from its skin. It walked really slowly maybe because it had no energy to walk fast enough. Looking at it as it went over to the fields. Which were also not very promising. The land had few farmers as they dug and some sow seeds on the dry soils which were too clear with no humus. The two wondered if anything was going to grow from it.The fields were very small and the people were s
Waking up the following morning, Adanna and Alyssa welcomed two visitors."Isn't he the weirdo from yesterday?" Adanna asked pointing at one of the two men. She pointed at the blue haired male they had met the day before. He looked neat and his looks were profound that he had tied his hair at the back. He plaited the endings in a goddard hairstyle letting it fall at his lower back. He left the wavy strands coming from the top of his hair flow to his sides. His light tanned white skin shined as it was covered by a black gown which reached on the mid of his femur. He worn some khaki trousers and slippers made of grass.Beside him a friend his age and same height stood observing the two. He scrutinised their looks and clothing. Paying much attention to Alyssa who started feeling uncomfortable from his non-stop gaze. The two girls were seeing this new face for the first time. He had wavy straight black hair that reached his waist. And he had very pale skin and strange dim yellow eyes. He
After some few days staying at their little house, the two were preparing for a small festival done once every year in the village. After all it was mid August and the people needed to rest and enjoy themselves.Zane and Daliah kept on visiting them and they were the ones who had brought it up. It is specific to say Daliah was actually the one that had brought it up. The four had gotten close. As the girls had an addition of a cheery Daliah and well reserved gentleman, Zane."Hello ladies!" Daliah greeted when he was still a few meters away from them. Zane followed behind him, he no longer coughed or anything. He was healthy in a way, a little healthier from the first day they met him. Sitting on the steps the two waited for the girls to do their own things. The festival was starting in the evening and it was about past four, they had plenty of time to get ready. Alyssa and Adanna had washed up and changed in one of the cloaks they had received from the villagehead's wife. Combing th
It was yet another day spending it with their two friends. They had forgotten that they had to leave the village and go back to fix all the mess they had left behind. After being reminded by Daliah who had asked how they came to be in the village, the two were drawn back to their number one issue."What are we going to do? We have spent almost two weeks here, remember we promised to leave." Alyssa felt restless as she walked about in the room. "We can leave tonight we won't tell them. This is not our home," Adanna added as they nodded to one another. Zane and Daliah had long left saying that they had something to do.When it was night time the two sneaked out of their room and they strolled toward the forest. Looking around them as if suspecting that something was lurking in the dark, the two proceeded being weary of anything coming their way.Reaching a bit further in the forests they tried to take a step and failed as they banged on some sort of invisible barrier which was preventi
Sean felt so lonely and decided to go to the kitchen and look for his mother. He was so little and so his parents decided to leave all the doors open in case their little one needed to look for them. He proceeded towards the kitchen area as he peeked through the door frame. He watched as his father affectionately touch his mother's face. She had fallen asleep whilst leaning on his shoulder forgetting that she was cooking for her little boy. When Zane saw him at the door he put his finger on his lips to shush his little boy before guiding him to come to him. Sean did as told as he made his way to his parents, he was lifted on Zane's lap as he also looked at his mother's sleeping face. Alyssa had been deep in her sleep. Last night she had not taken enough sleep so after he had told her what he admired about her, he had coaxed her to sleep. She was having quite a lovely dream until she was led on a lane back to that fake Zimicah. She suddenly discovered that she had been brought to tha
Zane and Alyssa were very thankful to the people who had come to their son's birthday celebration. They noticed that he was very happy as he played with Kyra and the other kids. The party had passed and all the visitors were going back to their respective homes.Early in the morning, the couple freshened up after having a wonderful sleep together. They prepared to go bring him home. The two knew he might not agree but still, they had to give it a go. "My love... why don't we leave him there? He is close to us and also Ekon will be very happy to let him stay. And on the good side, I will get to spend more time with you. Hmm..." He suggested hiding his true motive which was related to what he couldn't finish an hour ago."No, you're spoiling him too much and also I am not going to fall for that. I cannot enter the beast's nest whilst knowing what trouble it will bring. Look at me I didn't get enough sleep. I would rather let my son deprive me of sleep." Zane listened as he felt the exci
It only took four years to transform Zimicah from what it had become. They all worked really hard. The trees which had once withered were regrown and lively. The leaves were so green and the trunks so strong so different. The forests looked very beautiful and also made the little village prosperous. The fields were now promising and the rain poured on numerous occasions. The soils were becoming fertile due to the cattle that were feeding on the grasses growing in the forests. They increased also amounting to more cow dung. The villagers planted crops and food came to a point where it wasn't a problem anymore.Zane and Alyssa changed it to a better place. And in the way, they grew a lot closer to one another. Their love grew deeper. Their friendships grew stronger as well. The land they lived in now looked far more better than that fake world that had been everything to her. Now, this Zimicah was her real home."My love where is everyone," Zane asked whilst joining her at the center o
The next day Zane started strolling around looking for some fresh air. It didn't feel good spending a week in his room. Of course, he was accompanied by his love. They were holding hands as they moved at a pace that was slower than a tortoise. Might be exaggerating but still, they were walking really slow."Where are we going?" She asked letting him lead her to who knows. Zane smiled as he made a stop through the fog. Alyssa knew that it was the forest they first met. He lifted his hand and chanted a spell which removed the barrier that had been hiding that little house. "Where is this?" She was surprised to see a house appear from thin air. Zane pulled her close as they entered inside. Alyssa looked around seeing the dusty walls and floors. She glanced at the hammock bed before she was lifted up and put on it. He also joined her as they relaxed together."You didn't tell, what is this place really." "Used to be my comfort zone but if you want we can sometimes come and relax. It is
Five days in pain, Zane kept sleeping in his room as he tried to find some healing. He was lucky that he coughed quite a little bit. Alyssa was by his side. Looking after his every needs. She did not sleep as she would hold his hand and sometimes hug him when she felt very lonely. She wanted him to open his eyes and smile her way. She missed him too much. It was really hard seeing him like that. He looked as if he was a ghost. The poison inside his body had been neutralized with his own. He couldn't wake up because he was too weak and also it was a new month. For him a new month meant hell for the first five days. He would have headaches, chest pains, stomach aches and sometimes he would have his whole body writhing with so much pain.Alyssa sat beside his sleeping form as she watched over him. She yearned for his yellow eyes. Those past six days had been filled with nothing but sadness and worry. She worried he might not ever wake up. "Come on Zane... wake up. I don't want to see y
At the present, Alyssa faced the evil woman in front of her. She did not know her but Dien had brought her into their senseless revenge. Zane was still by her side embracing her, as he shielded her from his mother. Mother....he wouldn't call her that. He felt nothing for her. She was just a stranger trying to bring havoc to his peaceful life.Maybe, if she had acted like one then he would have considered it. And maybe if they had spent lots of time together then he would have felt hurt and betrayed. If she had been a mother then he would feel the need to make her stop. If he remembered the little time they had spent together then it would have made him question what had changed her. If he hadn't suffered because of her then he wouldn't have felt a strong feeling to end her. And if she hadn't tried to kill him and Ekon then he would be free of that illness. At that time when she had tried to kill both of them, he took it all by himself. His strong powers had made him sense the danger o
Some say when you kill a snake, burn it or if you leave it in the open you will find it gone. It can come back to life. And as odd as that sounds it had been what happened after their fight. Dien fell down the cliff and really died. A week passed as she lay on that spot. She couldn't feel the coldness down below. Her purple snake body kept on enduring the heat during the day.It is one night after those seven days when she miraculously opened her eyes, feeling her body numb and she had no energy to move. Her stomach made growling sounds that frightened creatures that were near her. She couldn't shift and the only way she could move was after eating something. It didn't have to be any animal. She really wanted the meaty, less bony human. She wished for one to end up to her. And just like that, an old man was passing by. He had gotten late looking for firewood. It had been his habit of taking shortcuts through that place. Just by smelling him come her way, made Dien's heart pound loud
"Dad where is mom?" Little Zane asked. He had seen that most kids in the village had mothers but he didn't remember his own. Or even had any memory of her looks.Years had passed since that day. Ade had lied to his sons, telling them that she had ran away. He couldn't bring himself to tell them the truth. It was quite harsh and he had also not quite fully accepted everything yet. The fact that his love had been quite a different person or to say creature confused him much. When he had brought the fake news to his two lovely sons, Ekon had believed him but Zane knew nothing and also didn't understand what they were busy talking about.Ade raised his two children on his own. Even though it was difficult he somehow managed to make it through. It really hurt being reminded of her. Sometimes he would get really angry when Zane brought her up.Just like that time he had asked of her.".... Stop asking." He would yell feeling very irritated. She was the worst memory of his past. He never lik
WE GO BACK TO THE TIME DIEN MET ADE. THIS IS THE STORY OF THIS COUPLE AND HOW ZIMICAH CAME TO BE WHAT IT IS.In a village deep in the mountains, there lived a woodcutter. He stayed inside a one-roomed house which was thatched and built with mud and poles. He had a very obedient son, and the two lived quite a simple life at least that was before Dien came into their lives. All was turned upside down by just visiting the nearest village to shop for some necessities. It is that one day when he decided to take his son with him. And at that time Ade was really young and naive. Whilst his father was shopping, the little boy wandered off and lost his way. He ended up at a house that was close to the market. It looked different from the rest. He moved forward wanting to take a closer look but before he could enter the gate a girl that had purple hair and red eyes blocked his way. "Father come look at this thief!" She had shouted to the Chief of the village. Dien had lived with both parents
