Devon's POV

"Devon?" She called my name and I turned to look at her. I could tell that she had so many questions in mind just by looking at her eyes.

"Yes?" I replied. I anticipated her questions, perhaps it could be a bridge she would unintentionally let down to connect us.

"Sleep well," she said in her innocent voice of hers.

Hell, I was not expecting that, but I didn't push it any further and for a few seconds, I stood there, staring at her, unable to move and so was she.

The atmosphere between us became awkward and tensed. "You too," I replied and with that I walked out of her room.

I should still be angry at her that she had succumbed to the manipulation of her

Devon's POV "Apologize?" I inquired, staring at him as I paused in reading the book in my hand. Damian nodded. "I spoke quite unruly last night and I have come to tender an apology for it," he said. I closed the book in my hand. "Last night, you did have a point. I had a thorough thinking and I realized you were right," I replied. "I just did not go about it properly," he said. I nodded. "Exactly," I responded as I sat on the edge of the desk. "I'm just worried about you, Devon. That's all. That's what a friend in my shoes would do too," he said. "I understand," I replied. "But, aside my public display of affection towards her, there are other things to worry about," I added. He walked closer to me. "Yes, they are. Firstly you'll have to train, Devon. You will have to be ready for anything that could happen. Just in case Rodrigo brings an unexpected war to our doorstep," he said. "I have declined his offer of war, Damian," I replied as I stood up. "Yes, you have, but we both

Devon's POVI looked for Olivia inside the palace, but I could not find her. I met with Gabi instead. "Gabi, have you seen Olivia?" I asked her."Yes, alpha. She's in the courtyard," she replied with a curtsey."Alright," I said and headed towards the direction of the courtyard.I got to the courtyard and I saw Olivia sitting there and enjoying the garden. I stood for a while watching her and unable to fathom why. This could probably be seen as stalking, I thought to myself and immediately cleared my throat to get her attention. She looked over at my direction and stood up quickly."Devon, I didn't see you t

  • The Mute Luna   Chapter 109

Olivia's POVI read the text message my father, sent to me one more time and I heaved. He would never stop. He would never stop trying to control and manipulate me. I stood up from the bed as I tossed my phone aside. I knew better than to ignore the message he sent to me. Ignoring it was definitely worse than not going. He was cruel and devious, but he could not possibly hurt me. That was what I believed.I exhaled deeply and made up my mind to see him at the border. One thing I knew was that I must ensure that Devon has no idea that I was going to see him. He would not like the idea for sure.I walked out of my room and down the hallway. I got down the stairs and the maids were going about their activities. I slipped through the door unnoticed, I believe.I had to walk to the borders, not taking one of the cars in the palace because I did not want Devon to know of my whereabouts. It was already dark and the crescent moon was already in the sky, quite visible amidst the dark linings o

Olivia's POVHis hold around my neck was so tight that I could barely breathe. I was gasping for air as I placed my feeble hands on his strong and calloused ones. Just one grip of his hand was enough to snap life out of me."You'll do as I have said or else..." he threatened and stared at me coldly as if I was never his daughter. There was no love in his eyes for me and not an iota of remorse for the horrible things he was doing to me and also making me do. With that cold glare still on his face, he pushed me back and strotted away. I staggered backwards, coughing hard as I placed my hand on my throat and heaved. The madman of a father! He almost killed me!I inhaled deeply. I had no idea what I was going to do and at this point, I regretted coming to see him just to know why he wanted me out by tonight. My curiosity got the better part Of me and now, curiosity had almost killed the cat.~~~~~~~I returned back to the palace. "Where have you been?" Devon's voice jolted me as soon as I

Devon's POVI walked back into the palace and walked into Olivia's room without knocking. I was trying to keep my anger and the hurt I felt for being lied to at bay, but I has always been terrible to keeping my anger under control. She was brushing her hair when I walked in. She turned around sharply, startled by my sudden intruding of her privacy. Her eyes were deterred as she stared at me. "Devon, what's..." She began to speak as she placed the brush back on the dressing table."What were you doing at the borders last night?" I cut her short. She stared at me like a deer caught in a lamplight. "Answer me!" I demanded, infuriated by her silence. Was she thinking of a lie to say to me? I wondered. She swallowed. "I was with my father," she replied, finally saying the truth. She had no choice of course. She has been caught."And you lied to me last night?!" I demanded."I had no choice!" She replied, her tone raised."What do you mean you had no choice? You had so many things to do bu

Devon's POVI stood in the library of the West house, going over businesses plans that I had somewhat abandoned for a while. This was a deal breaker for me. I was using my stay here and business as a distraction to clear my head from the thoughts of Olivia.I had left the palace to stay here just so I would not have to see her. I was angry at her, but if I had stayed in the palace, I would have no choice but to talk to her and it would have only angered me the more.I came here to calm my head, relieve myself of the anger and hurt I felt. I was also trying to get her off my mind. All of a sudden, I heard some noises outside the library hallways. Then, followed by the barging of Olivia."Please, you can't g

Olivia's POVHe did return to the palace and I was in my room standing by the window when I heard the door open. I turned away from the window and saw him walking into the room with two glasses of champagne in his hands. He paused in the middle of the room, taking in my appearance. The nightdress I wore hit just a little above my kneecaps and now with the way he looked at me, I was beginning to think maybe I made the wrong choice of dress."You look beautiful," he said with an utmost sincerity in his eyes.I looked down at the dress and held the hem. "I was beginning to think it was too short," I said.He smiled. "It makes it easier to slide through," he replied as he walked closer to me and handed one of the glass. My knees buckled as I took it from him and took a sip from it. I looked at him and saw him staring at me."What?" I asked with a nervous smile."Champagne isn't the thing on my mind right now," he replied as he took the glass gingerly from my hand.He placed the glasses o

Devon's POVHer hair was in disarray and covered her face but could not disguise her exquisite loveliness. She opened her eyes and stared at me sheepishly. In a way, she revealed her emotional side, the soft and fragile Olivia and not the feisty one I have come to know. "I had no idea on how to treat a man or the ways of pleasing him," she said staring at me with those innocent eyes.I pulled her closer to myself and stroked her arm as I kissed her forehead. How could I explain to her what I've grasped a long time ago? I didn't want to give her the impression that she didn't perform well. Despite her inexperience, in her own way she had done well than the experienced ones I've ever been with."Your inexperience does not change you, love," I said to her.Her head was on my chest and I could feel her heart beating down my rib. We both savored the moment having no knowledge of what tomorrow had in store for us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The morning rays filtered through the window

Olivia's POVDawn took extremely too long to come and I guessed it was due to my over excitement for today. Noon did the same thing and when evening slowly approached, I was seated in front of the vanity mirror with Gabi, Susan and a couple other ladies beside me.Right now, I was surrounded by ladies I see in the pack, but do not know them and that I had barely associated with.It was all going to change when I finally become the Lady of the house. The Luna of the silvermoon pack. Fuss was made over my nails of what nail polish color would fit perfectly on it. I let them make the fuss cause I did not care much about it. I just wanted to be linked arm in arm with my groom and tell him ' I do'. They finally decided on a chic blue nail polish coupled with a glitter lacquer polish for design. It did turn out great and my toe nails were given a nude nail polish color after minutes of a nice pedicure. Same fuss was made over my hair of which style would fit the Lady of the house. I had

Devon's POVThe training lasted till midnight before Damian everyone to retire to their rooms for the battle ahead. The morning came more quickly than expected but the pack warriors did not look like they lacked sleep. For this has done this before.I addressed the pack concerning the battle with the tyrant, Rodrigo. A few warriors were assigned to guard the palace with all their strength. We were ready, dressed, swords in our hands and guns too for the battle that was about to take place.Just then sounds of hooves on the ground and approaching cars could be heard from a distance."It's now or never," Damian said to me. He was indeed ready.Hell let loose as bullets and arrows flew around. It came out so sudden. I almost pushed Damian out of the way as an arrow was fired towards him, he fell down to the ground as I went off to grab who had fired the arrow.Rodrigo's men were advancing towards us, a battalion of them. Devon's POVThe sudden appearance of the red moon was quite baffling. It arrival before it said date took us off guard. The pack guards went in search of the sage in the caves but as usual there was nothing. Perhaps, this was just a facade of the red moon? I pondered.I got back to the palace and Olivia was not in her room. I asked about her from Gabi and she told me Olivia was in the garden.I got there and saw her staring at a plant. "Hey, love. What are you looking at?" I asked her."Hi, um, it's this green plant, it shines but it won't let me uproot it," she replied."Let me see," I said as I drew nearer to the plant. It was the sage! "My, it's the sage," I said in excitement. She grinned. "Well, uproot it!" She said to me. I tried to uproot it but it wouldn't. This was just a plant and not a tree, yet it was hard to uproot. I tried severally but it would not come out of the ground. "How about we do it together?" She suggested. I agreed and when we did, the sage came off so easily

Devon's POVThe more she lied the more she infuriated me. "You don't know what I'm talking about?" I asked her again and she stared at me. "Fine," I added as I dialled Damian's number. "Bring the girl in," I said into the phone and then hung up.A few minutes later, Damian walked into the house with Trisha who was frightened. Candice could not hide the horror on her face."Will you claim not to know this woman?" I asked her."I don't know her," Candice replied with confidence."Stop lying!" Trisha yelled at her. "Look at what you've gotten me into. These guys came to the club and dragged me out like a loser. I warned you about this but you still indulged me into it by tempting me with what I love the most," Trisha said to Candice in anger."Liar! I don't know you!" Candice yelled at her."Trisha, repeat everything you told me about Candice in the car," I said to her.Trisha swallowed. "Candice and I are co-workers at the strip club," she began to say and Olivia was shocked. "She came

Candice's POVI returned back to the house and I saw Susan with a blanket wrapped her shoulder as she sipped a cup containing coffee I believe. "Why are you all wrapped up when it's barely chilling outside?" I asked her."I'm just thinking," she replied.I snickered as I sat down on the chair. "That's why you're all covered up," I said. "Well, how's Olivia?" I asked her.She shrugged. "Not so good. She's still inside," she replied."What must have happened? Why is she so shaken?" I asked."Well, Devon came by today. Turns out that the reason why Olivia is upset and quiet is because of him," she said with a sigh."Oh my, what happened?" I asked as I pretended as if I did not know what was going on."It turns out Olivia has a video of Devon cheating on her with some girl and some pictures too," she replied."What?" I exclaimed, pretending to be shocked. She nodded, buying all my pretentious act. Damn, I was a good actress!"It's so strange. Devon is so in love with Olivia. I can't belie

She won't come out and I have been hearing crying sounds coming from there," she said as she led me to her room.We got to her room and there was Olivia laying face down on the bed in a red dress. "Olivia," I called her name and her body immediately stiffened before she turned around and got off from the bed. "What are you doing here?" She demanded with so much anger in her voice as she stared hard at me with puffy eyes."You're crying," I said going close to her."Don't you dare come close to me. Don't you dare!" She yelled out at me."Olivia, I'm sorry," I was burdened by her behavior as I apologized. I had no idea that the dinner date meant so much to her."Get out," she replied without looking at me."Olivia, I..." Damian's POVThe security personnel went through the CCTV footage but unfortunately, there was no sign of Devon leaving the hotel. He was only seen going into the men's room. I almost missed the next person that went in when I suddenly saw her and asked him to pause. "Zoom in," I said to him and he did. A woman was going into the men's room too. She had black hair, but her face could not be seen. "Hell, what is a woman going to do at the men's room," I pondered out aloud. The security personnel shrugged. "Is there no footage of the woman or Devon coming out of the men's room?" I asked him."No, sir. You can see from the footage that nothing like that happened and there doesn't seem to be any glitch anywhere in the system," he replied.I groaned inwardly. "Thank you very much," I said as I patted his shoulder."You're welcome," he replied as I walked out of the room. Where was Devon and who was that woman? I pondered deeply.I got back to the hotel hallway and spoke to the guards we ca

Olivia's POVI stumbled back in shock unable to believe my eyes. I held the chair to stable myself from falling. It was as if my eyes were deceiving me. I paused as the phone slipped down from my hand. Was this the launch Devon claimed to be at?Perhaps, images might be deceiving, but I had no idea what pushed me to leave the palace and get to the hotel. On getting there, another message came in, directing me to the room Devon was in. I walked up the stairs, used the elevators and I could feel my heart in my throat as I got out of the elevator. What would I see? I knew it would be something that I would not be able hold in. I got to the room and opened the door and lo and behold, before my very eyes, there was that same woman I saw yesterday humping over Devon.I closed my mouth in shock and pain as tears cascaded down my eyes. I left the door slightly ajar as I ran out of the hallway. I kept running till I was out of the hotel.I could not scream even when I possibly wanted to. My ha

Candice's POV"What?!" Trisha exclaimed, almost spitting her cappuccino in my face."Hush, calm down Trish," I said to her as I looked around the strip club, ensuring that no one was eavesdropping on us."What do you mean by calm down, Candice? That I should frame Devon up? Are you kidding me right now?" She literally yelled at me."You're not really framing him up, Trish," I replied."What do you call drugging a man in an hotel room, and taking pictures with him?" She demanded."Stop sounding like this is the first time you're doing such a thing," I frowned at her."And so? At least I know the kind of men I do such with. Not men like Devon and especially not Devon. Please, Candice!" She flared up.I slapped my forehead. "So, you're not going to do this?" I asked her."No amount of money will make me mess with someone like Devon. Count me out," she said as she stopped her cappuccino and turned away."Not even for half a million bucks?" I asked her and she paused and turned around."Ha
