*ALEX*

The evening comes, and we have an early dinner at 6:00 because the council meeting will start at 7:30.

Lauren and I were resting on the couch.

She was fidgeting in her seat. "Are you okay, sweetheart?" I asked.

Lauren shook her head and replied, "I'm not okay. I feel nervous. I don't know why..."

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly. "Does Natasha still bother you?"

Lauren nodded her head and responded, "Yeah, a little bit. I have a feeling that Natasha will not stop until she gets what she wants from us."

"Stop thinking about her. She can't do anything to us. If we don't accept her proposal, then there is nothing she can do about it. We are the ones who call the shots, not her. Tonight, we finally put this matter to rest in front of the council members once and for all!" I stated it in a resolute voice.

"Yeah, let's put an end to this drama because it's already tiring!" Lauren whined. "No matter what proposal Natasha and her father will present to us tonight, we will not entertai

*LAUREN* Alex finished his drink and looked at me. "I want to go to the bathroom, sweetheart," he said. I nodded my head. "Go on. I'll wait for you here." "I'll be back before you know it," he said and walked away, heading in the direction of the restroom located a few meters away from the seashore. I watched Alex until he disappeared from my sight. I turn my attention to the calm sea in front of me and continue sipping my drink. "Lauren, can I talk to you for a minute?" a female voice said. When I raised my head, it was Natasha. My body quickly tensed, reacting negatively to her presence. I felt nervous, and my eyes darted around, looking for Alex. I'm just not feeling comfortable when Natasha is around me. "Hey, calm down. You look so nervous. I'm not going to hurt you. I'm here to personally ask your forgiveness for my bad behavior. I'm so sorry for insulting you. I hope you can forgive me," Natasha said, lowering herself onto the lounge chair beside me without asking my perm

*ALEX* My father and I finally stopped searching for Lauren in the water because we couldn't find her and let our guards continue looking for her. My dad received a message from my mother through the mind link informing us that Natasha was seen on the CCTV camera talking to Lauren before she disappeared. I need to ask Natasha what happened to Lauren. Does she have anything to do with the disappearance of my mate? If she is the one responsible, then I will kill her with my own hands if she can't return Lauren to me alive! After we got out of the water, my father and I went straight to the place where they held Natasha for questioning. When I arrived there, she was sitting on the chair, visibly shaken, facing my brother Stephen. "I'm telling you the truth! I leave Lauren after we finish our conversation. I apologized to her regarding my bad behavior towards her, and she forgave me. Can't you see on the CCTV camera that we shook hands? We parted in good faith. I have no desire to hu

*ALEX* "Sweetheart, please don't joke like this." I said, I just came out of a stressful experience, and I don't want any of this. I looked at her face expecting that she would smile and say, 'I'm just kidding!' but she didn't. Her face looked serious, as if she were genuinely confused or had no idea who I was. I reached for her hand, hoping that when she could feel my warmth, she would stop with this sick joke of hers at once because I don't like it. "Don't touch me!" she hissed, slapping my hand before I could touch her. I sighed heavily. "You don't really know me?" She shook her head vigorously. "I don't know who you are!" she said loudly. I groaned in dismay, frustrated with this sudden turn of events. The last thing I need is a girlfriend who loses her memory. "Sweetheart, come on, please stop joking. I'm very tired today. I need a rest. Give me a break, please!" I pleaded with her eyes. "Mister, I'm not joking! I truly have no idea who you are!" She insisted, sporting a se

*ALEX* Since nothing can be done to restore Lauren's memory, we leave the hospital and return to our house in the city. We just finished having dinner and are back in our room on the second floor. I'm looking forward to spending some loving moments with Lauren in the comfort of our room. However, I'm disappointed with what happened next. "Sweetheart, if you are already sleepy, you can sleep on the bed," I said. She looked at me with a raised brow. "How come there is only one bed?" she asked. I groaned inwardly. "We're going to be husband and wife soon. There's no need to have two beds in the room. One bed is wide enough for us to sleep on," I explained. She glared at me. "I'm not going to sleep on the bed with you! We're not married yet!" She was refusing to share a bed with me, and that's just the beginning. I sighed deeply, feeling frustrated with her answer. "But we're already intimate. We have done steamy things that couples often do." "What do you mean?" Her brows furrow

*ALEX* One week has already passed, and I hate to admit that I'm right with my guess: Lauren hasn't regained her memory of me yet. My heart was filled with sadness because I have to bring her to the old mansion this afternoon, and hopefully once we finish visiting Granny Ursula's grave, it can trigger her memory. I'm worried that the enemy will hear the news of my mate going back to the old mansion, but since she already had amnesia, maybe they will no longer touch her. We told no one about Lauren's current condition because we wanted it to be top secret, but anything can happen when you least expect it. Hopefully, no one will come after her this time. My father told me not to worry much because he would send a group of elite guards to protect my sister and Lauren. But despite the tight security, I still have fears because anything can happen, and I'm not there to watch over the two women who are both dear to me. I have no choice, though... Lauren was busy putting her clothes and

I halted in my tracks. "Please sit down on the bed. We're just going to talk." She settled on the bed, sitting on the edge, her eyes darting to the door. "I'm sorry if I scare you. Please forgive me." I sincerely apologized to her. She took a deep breath. "Start now so that I can get out of here!" She felt restless and anxious. I cleared my throat. "Sweetheart, I brought you here hoping that you would remember our beginning. I didn't mean to scare you, please believe me." My hands ache, wanting to caress her face. "I trust you, Alex. Just say what you want to say to me so that I can finally go back upstairs," she said nervously, looking like she was trapped in a cage. "Okay, listen carefully. I have to tell you my true identity. *ALEX* The servants put the candle and flowers into the vehicles. We piled into our car and quickly reached the cemetery in no time. The weather is good; the horizon was already preparing for sunset. The three of us exited the vehicle and walked to the grave ahead of us. The servant arranged the flowers in the tomb and lit the candles. I was observing Lauren's face the whole time. Right now, even if we are standing in front of Granny Ursula's grave, she shows no emotion at all. She might have sensed that I was watching her because she looked at me and our gazes met. "What?" she asked. "We're already here. Can you say anything to Granny Ursula?" I asked, expecting her to show sadness and tears of longing in her eyes, but that did not happen. She's simply maintaining that poker face of hers. It's kind of a bummer that amnesia can change a person's personality overnight. Lauren fell silent. She continued staring at the tombstone with Granny Ursula's name written on it. I was in d

She was wearing a two-piece swimsuit, looking beautiful as always, and then, out of nowhere, someone slapped my arm and pushed me hard. I ended up falling on the hard floor. "Ouch!" I yelled. When I opened my eyes, my beloved Lauren was looking down at me with a furious look on her face. A quick glance at the window tells me that it's already morning. "Good morning, sweetheart!" I greeted her cheerfully. "Why are you mad? Did someone pisses you off?" I asked. She glared at me. "When I woke up this morning, your hands were all over me! Pervert!" She hissed in my face. "Oops, sorry about that! I will never do it again!" I apologized, rising to my feet and avoiding her gaze. When I was halfway through the bathroom, I looked over my shoulder, and she was still looking at me angrily. I sighed and walked toward her. "Sweetheart, I'm really sorry. Where did my hand go?
