Laughter and lies II

The next morning, he decides to ignore it. He gets up earlier and calls himself a cab. He decides to go down the stairs and the main entrance and not the elevator to the garage.

Neither John nor his bodyguards notice this. They expected him to go down with Ayden as he does every day or most days. He heads straight to his mother's nursing home and once there he goes straight to her bedroom.

She lies peacefully asleep. When she awakens, breakfast has already been brought to her, so Arya offers to give it to her.

"I remember when you were a little girl, your dark hair, long and straight. I used to call you my little Snow White," her mother murmurs haltingly.

"I don't remember," Arya confesses, but she feels melancholy that her mom would tell her something like that.

She usually doesn't talk about it ever.

A call on her phone interrupts her. Arya checks and sees that it's Mark.

"Hello," Mark greets. "Hi, Mark," she says with a smile on her lips.
