Though the plains where Gwyneth landed the plane was vast and empty, there were buildings and people living nearby.

"Thank goodness we didn't land on a deserted island," she giggled to ease her nerves—they barely survived, after all.

"Thank you. I'd be dead if not for you," he said earnestly, still surprised that Gwyneth could pilot a plane.

Gwyneth beamed at him in turn and shrugged.

"I should be thanking you too. That man would've killed me if not for you."

And that was the truth—they had each other's backs in that situation, and they would be dead if either of them were not there.
