Marionne spends most of his at the Rothschild mansion to help Sophia prepare for their wedding. In the first days, Sophia won't even talk to him, but now, she willingly participates in their wedding preparations. Ava's starting to worry about her sister's perspective about the marriage. Marionne is starting to get under her skin.
"Hey, pretty. How's your morning?" Marionne asked Sophia when he arrives bearing a bouquet of red roses and a box of her favorite cupcake.
"It was okay, you?" Sophia asked back in a more civilized tone.
"Great, I slept well last night and woke up feeling great," Marionne answered enthusiastically. "I guess getting married will make you feel that way." He looked at Sophia's eyes intently.
"Really?" Sophia smiled and blushed.
Ava was just a few feet away from them and can hear their every conversation. She can feel Marionne's every effort to make Sophia fall in love with him. And her sister is like a willing victim biting his every word.
"Uh-huh. I think you're going to be an awesome wife, and a wonderful mother." Ava saw how her sister blushed when Marionne tucked some of the loose hair behind her ears. "I've got an idea, why don't we go out?" Marionne said in an excited tone.
"But we have a lot to do," Sophia answered, trying not to laugh with Marionne's childlike attitude.
"Come on, just for a few hours, love." He continued to act like a child.
"Stop acting like that." Sophia can no longer contain her laughter. "You look like an idiot," Sophia added.
"That's okay, at least only for you. Do you want me to act like this in front of another woman?" Marionne asked like he was about to get pissed.
"Of course not," Sophia answered and she laughed even harder when Marionne smiled like a child who was given a box of his favorite candies.
"Are you sure? I can do that, you know." Marionne asked as if daring her.
"Shut up. Wait here, I'll just change clothes." Sophia pinched Marionne's nose before ascending the stairs. Marionne was left smiling but when he saw Ava looking at him, his expression changed.
-------
"What are you doing?" Ava asked him frankly.
Marionne stared at her like she said something weird. "What do you mean?" Marionne asked innocently. Even his eyes show nothing but confusion.
"Don't play dumb, I'm not my sister." Ava angrily stated. "I'm not gonna let you use my sister."
"Use her on what?" Marionne responded. Still maintaining his innocence. "I don't understand you, Ava. I'm just doing what a soon-to-be husband is to supposed to do. I thought it's right for us to know each other more before we get married." Marionne scoffed as if what Ava is saying doesn't make sense to him.
"Stop acting like you don't know what I'm talking about!" Ava can no longer contain her frustrations. "You're using my sister to get back on me!"
"What? Are you saying that I'm here because of you?" Marionne responded like he couldn't believe what Ava was trying to say. "I knew you think of yourself as someone very important but I never imagine for you to be this narcissistic. You're not the center of the universe, Ava. Maybe you're the one who's trying to connect yourself to me. I'm sorry Ava, but I'm not interested in you anymore."
Ava couldn't speak. She felt ashamed and humiliated. It made her question her real feelings and her intention for trying to come between her sister and Marionne. Now, Marionne is thinking that she still has feelings for him.
"What? No witty come back?" Marionne said. "Move on, Ava. It was a long time ago."
-------
When Sophia came downstairs, she's looking so beautiful in her light pink sundress and flat sandals. She also wore little makeup to let her natural beauty stand out. Marionne knows that Ava is watching so he smiled like he was so mesmerized by Sophia's beauty. Making Ava believe that he really has feelings for her sister, even just a bit.
"You're so beautiful." Marionne praised Sophia.
"Thank you," and Sophia was so quick to believe him.
"Let's go?" Marion's asked Sophia.
Sophia smiled as a response and take his hands. Ava noticed her sister's mood lighten up for the past few daw. She no longer cries and gets mad easily. Maybe Marionne is a good thing for her. Maybe she should let them be happy.
She was about to leave for work when she remembered one specific memory when Marionne was doing all those things to her.
- Flashback-
"Hi, Ava! I brought you breakfast. I know you're cramming for your thesis tomorrow, so I thought bringing you food would help you concentrate." The eighteen-year-old Marionne announced the moment he approached Ava.
"Thanks, just put it there." Ava said without even looking at him.
"Won't you eat first?" Marionne asked Ava sweetly.
"I said, just put it there. Can't you see I'm busy?" Ava said, sounding frustrated.
"I'm sorry, I just—I don't want you to get sick because you're not eating in time," Marionne answered in a sad tone.
"I'm fine, okay. I'm just busy, so please leave me alone." Ava demanded she saw her friends coming.
"Okay," Marionne replied before leaving.
"Hey, Ava. Come on." One of them called her.
As she was getting her things, the lunch box that Marionne brought fell on the ground. The spaghetti that he cooked for her making him late for the first time, scattered on the ground. Ava didn't even throw a second glance at wasted food. She just kept walking but what she didn't know was that Marionne was still nearby when everything happened.
He watched how Ava had time to come with her friends than to be with him. How she didn't even care about the simple thing he did for her. Marionne saw everything. But chose to ignore them. Because he loved her. He chose to think that there's a future where he and Ava are together.
- End of Flashback-
It was too late when Ava realized how much he hurt Marionne. A friend of hers back in college told her everything he did for her. All the wasted effort, those long hours that he would wait for her but she's already gone. She realized he was not stupid because he didn't see the truth. He knew everything but he chose to believe in what they have.
He hurt him, from start to end, but he chose to love her. He was there when she failed and helped her stand up. He was her biggest supporter. He cheered for her in every competition. He sacrificed his happiness for her. But she hurt him. She hurt the only man who showed her real love and respect. He loved her but she denied and shame him.
Ava went to her office early because he doesn't want to see Marionne at their house. Not that she's jealous or whatever. She just can stand him being around. His acts of sweetness and care for her sister makes her want to gouge out her eyes. So instead of staying in the house, she'll just leave early. "Hi, Ma'am Ava. Good morning, do you need the sales report now?" Her staff asked me. "Seriously? You're really asking me that question?" Ava asked in an annoyed tone. "And who are you? "I'm a new hire, Ma'am. I'm sorry." She said apologetically. "Who hired you?" I asked again, still annoyed. "Uhm, me, Ms. Ava." Her branch manager immediately approached her. "Next time, don't hire stupid people." She said while clenching her jaw. Ava is not the kind of boss who would be mean to her employees. She always shows nothing but kindness. But for some reason, she's really not in the mood today. Marionne was trying to keep the details of his marriage to his father. He knew that his father would not be happy about his plans. But their marriage made the front page and news on tv. It even became trending on social media. It was like a wildfire that started as a flicker then spread uncontrollably."Marionne, what is this?" His father forcefully placed a newspaper at the table showing him and Sophia on a sweet picture together. "What on earth are you thinking, son?""Dad, calm down, okay? I know what I'm doing." Marionne answered his father calmly."You know what you're doing. It doesn't seem to me that way. You're marrying a Rothschild. How could you say that you know what you're doing?" Crisanto asked his son, with a hint of disappointment in his voice."Just trust me, Dad. Please?" Marionne begged."How could you do this to me?" His father walked away with a heavy heart. Marionne knew this would happen, but he has a plan. And he will go thro
Marionne continues to work his magic with Sophia. He maintains a caring and loving fianceé. Sophia is like a willing victim, believing everything he says and does. And Ava remains the antagonist in their love story."Sophia, can we talk?" Ava approaches her sister in the kitchen. Sophia didn't even bother her annoyance with her."What now, Ava? If this about my fianceé, I don't want to hear it." Sofia said without looking at her."But, Soph—" Ava tried to explain, but Sophia immediately cut her off."But what, Ava? Gregory woke up feeling dizzy, his throat was parched, and his body aches all over. Last night's beating was worst than the nights. He already lost track of how long he's been inside his dark cell. They give him food once in a while and water, but it's only enough to keep him alive. In his mind, he knew that his daughter would come looking for him. He's their father, and they won't just let him rot in that cell. He believes that his daughters are already scouring the earth to find him."Gregory Rothschild. How the mighty have fallen? How are you, dear friend?" Gregory heard the voice he came to loathe."You won't break me, Lorenzo. My daughters are looking for me right now. And my soon-to-be son-in-law is one of the wealthiest men you could ever meet. Once they realized that it's you who took me, you're going to pay for it." Gregory threatened him. —Sixteen Years Ago—Ten O'clock in the morning, Marionne Castello is walking on the sidewalk towards the University he wanted to enroll in college. He spent his entire life preparing himself for this day. From grade school to secondary education, Marionne cried, sweat, and bled to have the credentials to be a worthy scholar student of Universidad de Catalina. The best university in town. His palms were sweating when he entered the gate of the university. Mesmerized by the beauty of the surroundings and how grandiose—for his simple eyes—everything is.After asking the guard where he can find the registrar's office, Marionne sprinted. He wanted to be there in time for the announcement of those who passed last month's entrance and scholarship examination. But the traffic made the travel hard for him. The announcement is eleven-thirty, but six other students are already sitting in front of the registrar's office and waiting. Students are passing by,
Ava didn't know what happened to them. One day, they were a wealthy family, and the next, they can no longer afford to travel abroad. It all started when his father got into gambling. Without their knowledge, her father already sold some of their properties abroad. He can't stop anymore. All he wants is to gamble. No matter how much money he wastes, he no longer cares."Ava, this has to stop. People are talking about us!" Ava sighed when the first thing she heard as she came out of her is her sister's complaint."Sophia, what do you want me to do?" Ava asked, feeling drained early in the morning."Be the big sister! Talk to dad, for god's sake." Sophia pleaded."Haven't I done that already?" She asked her sister. Ava talked to their father numerous times, but all she got was a nod."He can't go on like this. Sooner rather than later, we will be living in the streets." Sophia looked seriously stressed out about the situation."I don't know wh
"No! No way!" Sophia violently reacted to their father's announcement."Dad, please tell us this is a joke." Ava hoped their father would laugh and say that he was kidding, but he didn't."Hija, your wealth is rapidly decreasing, and if you don't do anything about it, you will lose everything," Lorenzo speaks up. "I am offering you a better future out of the kindness of my heart.""Yeah, our wealth is rapidly decreasing because of his gambling!" Sophia retaliated. "Why don't you marry them instead, dad?""Watch your mouth, kid!" Gregory warned him."Watch my mouth!" Sophia already had enough of his father. "You want to sell us to these ugly, sweaty retards so you can keep your wealthy status! What kind of a father are you?""How dare you insult my sons in front of me!" Don Lorenzo angrily stood up." Let's go, boys. We're leaving." He called his sons, who are both bowing down. "I will never forget this, Gregory."Don Lorenzo and his so

Sophia went home as soon as she can. Her father and some goons are waiting for her by their garage. She felt scared. Sophia thought that they already killed him. But she let out a sigh of relief when she saw them drag him out of a car. He was beaten, but at least he's still alive. Sophia was about to approach her boyfriend when one of the goons pointed a gun at him."I don't think so, sweetheart." Her father said while smiling devilishly. "So you got two choices. You will marry Marionne Castello and provide for this family, or you will marry Mr. Agoncillio and pay for my debts." A large, older man stepped forward."I sure hope you would rather marry me." He said while staring at her. He looked like a rabid dog. The only thing missing is him salivating."No, I will not marry any man other than him." Sophia firmly said."Then we'll give you another choice." The older man said. "You will marry the man you're father or me wanted to you marry, and he will live
Sunday morning, both Ava and Sophia are at home. Ava worries about her younger sister, who hasn't said a word since the night that Marionne arrived with their father. Gregory, who was disappointed and mad with how Sophia acted, won't talk to them, too. He despised Sophia for demanding that Marionne will not give him any money once they got married. He surely didn't expect her youngest daughter to defy him like that."Aren't you going to talk to Sophia, Dad?" Ava said to her father, who's drinking his coffee in his study room."Why would I? You two seem to forget I am your father." Gregory said hatefully."That's right; you're our father," Ava responded in the same manner. "And selling you're selling us like some piece of goods.""Is that all you have to say to me?" Gregory asked dismissively. "If yes, you can go.""You're unbelievable," Ava replied. "I'm sure Mom will be ashamed of you."Ava left her father with utter disappointment in her h
"Marionne! Wait!"Ava couldn't let her sister marry someone she doesn't love because of their father. She has to do something. Maybe, regardless of what happened between them in the past, he would listen to her."Marionne!"Ava tried to call him again, but he chose to ignore her. He continuously walks towards his car."Damn it! Marionne, will you stop!"At last, Marionne stopped walking, but he kept his back on her."Marionne, please, talk to me," Ava begged."What is it, Ava?" Marionne asked her blankly.Marionne turned around and faced the very first woman he loved and broke his heart. It's been twelve years since they last saw each other."What do you want, Marionne? Why are you doing this?" Ava asked in an accusatory tone."Oh! You think I'm here because I wanted to? I have my own company to manage, Ava. You and your family's drama is the last thing I need." Marionne responded in a contemptuous tone."T
