He had me by the balls already. But he let me come—much to my surprise and rising hope.“Is she ever going to wake up?” I ask, still reeling from the shock of witnessing how bad her condition is. She has pipes going through her mouth, and there are too many wires and machines connected to her. My stomach churns at the sight. My mind is spinning, and I realize too late that my harmless question didn’t sound so harmless to a man utterly convinced I put the woman who was like a mother to him in this condition.“The doctors are uncertain. A miracle, perhaps,” Rino says, drilling a hole into my head with how hard he’s staring at me.“You really think I did this to her?” I can’t help but ask again.“You’re really going to stand there, right in front of her, and deny do

“Yes, darling, I've missed you so much.” I can feel my skin prickle from the sound of his voice. I pull my lips open to let air into my lungs.I can't speak, I can't feel, I can't breathe.
