Chapter five: "Koi"

"You look happy from a singe rose" I was startled by a male voice that suddenly erupted from behind me, I turned my head to see Alex with hands in his pockets

I look at the rose that was in my hand as I try not to get pricked by the thorns "I didn't know you were into roses" I teased him

He tilted his head "I don't"

"Then why-" "These are requested by Mama" he eyes the garden full of roses

I guess that makes sense, Mama loves roses that she even has a vase at home where she puts roses in it and replaces it with fresh ones every three days

"She told me that you love roses so I ordered rose seeds from a foreign country because she said it would be nice to have her favorite flower planted on the land that will soon be hers" He glanced at the gardeners and it seems like they know what to do based on how Alex looks at them because they left the garden immediately

I indeed did love roses but there was a reason that I didn't want to see them anymore

It reminded me of my failed relationship with Ray, he would always bring me roses but it would be the same reason how I found out he was cheating on me with a classmate of mine. It has become awkward at first but soon I got used to it

So now if there is a time if I would accidentally meet him in a random place I would act like he was never there, the tables have changed so now he is the one who is becoming awkward when we see each other.

"To be honest I don't really like roses anymore" I told him, I twirled the rose between two of my fingertips "But it would be such a waste from how lovely they are"

Alex nodded in agreement with me "We could use the roses for your Mama's funeral, I think she would be thrilled"

I giggled "She will"

We started walking together side by side on the small pathway of the garden, This was the closest I've ever been to Alex other than some rare hugs that would surprise me before. he was in his early 30's, and yet he looks younger than his real age.

I did notice that compared to all the men in the mansion he was the tallest and was scarier when he becomes serious, the men listens to his every order and would run around just to finish it on time.

"I don't really get you" 

Alex stopped walking and turned to me with a puzzled look on his face, I leaned my upper body to him "You are a great mystery that I'm excited to uncover, everything you do seems to be something that I would never know and yet I want to know. Do you get my frustration?" I raised a brow like 'Do you get it?' look

He smirked "All I heard is you want to uncover me"

I scoffed "Great ears you seem to miss the point in what I'm saying you perverted dumbass" my hand went to flick his forehead, his hand went to soothe the pain on his forehead and I walked ahead of him making it look like he was following me 

The view of the field here is breathtaking, the way the grass and trees dance a little from the wind and how the lake glistens under the sunlight. This felt like it came out of a novel of every love story I have ever read.

The lake was empty

there were no fishes or anything to decorate its surroundings making it a bit dull looking, I pointed my index finger at the lake "Why are there no fishes?"

"Do you want to have fishes in the lake?" 

"Well it depends on you since you own the mansion, I will say this honestly but the lake looks lifeless"

He walked up near to the edge of the lake and put a hand under his chin that has stubble "I suppose it does look lifeless, what type of fishes would you prefer to swim here?"

I grinned up at him "Koi fish" 

Alex pulled out his phone from the pocket of his blazer and dialed someone on his phone "Hey Fredrick" he twisted his head left and right observing the lake "Where do you think I could buy 100 koi's?"

My eyes widened as I grab his wrist to stop him, I mouthed "What are you doing!?"

"I'm buying Koi as you suggested to me"

I ONLY MEANT IT AS A JOKE!

I grabbed the phone from his hand and ended his call "I only meant it as a joke but why the hell would you buy 100 koi? just one koi is expensive enough"

He laughed a little at me "Yes I know, but I make a lot of money every month that I can pay my 8 million rent to your Mama on time"

He's not wrong in that one but having that many Koi would be a waste of money

From the distance, I can see someone running to us in such a hurry that when he finally got close he was catching his breath like he ran a marathon but in reality, the distance of the mansion to the lake was only a few feet. 

"Sir, Rio is going to visit here" he told Alex 

Who's Rio?

The carefree look is now back to his serious face

Every time these men tell Alex something he would always be alert

Alex turned to me "Looks like you need to go home right now Bea"

This could be related to that Rio guy

"Why? by the way who's Rio?"

"You're not going home until I give you an answer do you?" 

I gave him a proud face as I tilt my chin up a bit "That's my nature"

Alex looked at the guy and said "Take her home, don't forget to buy her food if she wanted to eat" he walked away, I was about to walk after him and demand who on earth was Rio to cause him to act so suspiciously right now but I was carried on the shoulder of the guy as he ran back to the mansion.

I felt like a sack of potatoes being carried on one's shoulder "Hey Mr can you put me down?" I tapped his shoulder, he responded to me by shaking his head. He was running really fast that I was scared he might accidentally let me go which will cause me to fall to the ground face first.

"Patrick be careful you might fall and hurt the landlady, PATRICK!" We heard someone calling him down the long hallway of the mansion, it was Lee who went up to us. Lee looked at Patrick "If she gets hurt, our necks are next you got that?"

I snorted a little making them look at me "Relax Lee I'm not that easy to anger to kick you all out" I smiled at him and Patrick

Lee shook his head "I wasn't pertaining to you landlady Bea, I was pertaining to Alex" 

I don't get these people, it's making my head hurt just by thinking what is Alex's identity is enough

They both brought me to the front of the mansion where an expensive car awaits

Woah

I'm rich myself but even I would be amazed by such an expensive car, Lee went to the driver's seat while Patrick opened the door for me to enter the backseat. the men from before made a small bow before the car starts leaving the mansion

If looked differently, other people might mistake me as an heiress from how these men would be bowing and being huge in numbers.
