DAMIEN’S POV

I wiped the sweat off my forehead, mentally counting the men that were on night shift. The numbers were light and I wondered about my luck. Zaverio and his dogs had left earlier not telling anyone where they were going.

I wanted to kit up with them, and to also get closer to Zaverio, gain his trust and maybe kill him in in his sleep. I didn’t run with the eagerness of the others because this was a golden chance.

My target was Alma, and with Zaverio guarding her like a dog every day, it had been hard to get close to her. The bitch had started keeping her distance after our last conversation.

No one knew the connection between Alma and Zaverio, but I watched them exchange loved up glances, and one time I caught them kissing in the kitchen. My stomach roiled and I realized she was not a victim, she was his ally.

My plan was to appeal to her with the route of escaping this hell hole, but the little birdy was comfortable in her cage. That was sad because I had every intention

ZAVERIO’S POVIt had been three days. Three days since my home base was invaded by a rat, and three days since Alma was taken. My fingers tightened around the gun I was holding in my lap as I watched Gored spit out another tooth.Von flexed his hands, looking back at me. “Is that enough boss?” Nothing was ever going to be enough for traitors. I waved my hand and stood, walking slowly to the man who was now missing one eye. “I thought we had a great agreement Gored. You said you wanted out, and I gave you a clean way out. No one will ever take that risk but I did because of your sick mother, so why did you betray me?”Gored kept his eye level with mine, “I didn’t have a choice, I would never betray you if they didn’t have something on me.”“Why didn’t you come to me?” I squatted, tapping his kneecaps with my gun. “If the feds were sniffing up the wrong alley, why didn’t you try to reach me?”“They broke into my home one night and dragged me out in front of my mother. There was this gu

I do apologize for our poor accommodation.”“You locked me up for a month without access to a lawyer; you should be apologizing for more than your shitty accommodation.” “It could have been worse; you could have had a roommate. Do you know how many pregnant women survive in prison?” Gio smacked her lips when she took a sip of her hot coffee. “Our evidence is weak, if the state was to take you to court, all the evidence would be inadmissible.”“You knew all of this and kept me against my will, why? “Zaverio,” his name echoed in my head, and happiness surged through my veins as heat spread up my neck, setting my cheeks on fire. It had been years since I saw him, and I wondered what he would look like, but I didn’t care. I had loved him and would love him forever. News had gotten out that he was returning to town. I had heard the other house helps gossip about it, but I hadn’t dared to hope until I heard Mrs. Riccardo say so herself, ordering them to decorate the house and make the mansion beautiful. I scrubbed the plate subconsciously, my hands working by themselves out of years of experience and practice. Lady Riccardo walked in, stern as ever she scowled."Better hurry, Alma," Mrs. Riccardo's voice cracked like a whip, sending a shiver down my spine. "We don't have much time. My son will be home any moment from now. Do your job." I nodded, my lips sealed, knowing better than to utter a word. Mrs. Riccardo's grip on the household had tightened like a noose since Don Riccard

They have cops written all over their body and they are not being subtle about their hideout.”“I used to be feared.” I laughed, checking th
