[Darcy]

The same car drove me back to the apartment. The man who was my bodyguard followed me into the lobby. He accompanied me in the elevator and left when I was inside my unit. It seemed Sinclair assigned him to keep an eye on me.

Of course, he did. He didn't want me to run away before paying my debt in full. That man must not have been in charge of guarding me from the bad guys. That was why he didn't prevent those bad guys from hurting me earlier. I touched my left cheek and felt pain.

However, the sting was nothing compared to people's stares when I performed on stage. My whole body trembled, remembering their lustful gazes. I felt like they were squeezing my chest and bottom with their eyes.

My knees gave out, and I collapsed to the floor. My eyes heated up, and my chest felt tight. I had never felt so low and shameful in my entire life. I wasn't a virgin, but no man touched me without my permission. They touched me because I wanted it, too.

What I felt just then crushed my pri

The dancers made way for the man to enter the room. I was surprised that two women followed him. Our superior's right-hand man walked toward me. The ladies standing before me moved out of the way.“Meryl and Jean have something to say to you,” Enzo said. The two women elbowed each other, telling their friend to start. I was grateful that they had arrived on time. Everyone could see who was at fault in the conflict between us. I didn't have to bother defending myself or clearing my name.“Darcy, I apologize for taking your money and locking you in the practice room last night,” Jean said. She handed me a brown envelope. “This is your money. Please count it. I didn't take a dime.”I hadn't had time to count the money I'd gotten last night. So, I didn't know if she gave it all back or took a few pieces. But I didn't care about that. My money was back. That was the most important thing.“Thank you,” I said, accepting the envelope.“I also apologize for taking your money and locking you in

[Sinclair]Enzo didn't have to wait long to find out the outcome of our bet. Sean came to the club again to get my answer to his request the night before. He even arrived earlier than the twenty-four hours he had set.Since it wasn't the agreed time, I didn't meet him in his room. Sean needed to know I wasn't his subordinate, whom he could order around at will. Although the legitimate mayor was his party mate, that man would be on my side rather than Sean's.I accompanied my VVIP guests in a special room, watching my dancers perform on stage. I had never been interested in their performances, but Darcy was different. Somehow, I couldn't look away when watching her dance before me.Like Felicia said, her body was curvy. The other dancers were more attractive than her physically. Was it her blonde hair and blue eyes that attracted me? No. Some of the strippers also had the same hair and eyes as hers. The strength was that she was prettier than the other dancers. Growing up in a wealthy

I wouldn't forgive anyone who dared to touch that child. I guarded him from the moment he was born with my life. Therefore, I chose the best person to watch over him. If anything happened to him, the person who guarded him would die first.“Master Dashiell called when they were at the playground. People attacked us there. We managed to subdue them and get home without anyone following,” he reported.“Prove it,” I urged. The call turned into a video call. My son's bodyguard appeared on the screen before he switched to the back camera of his phone. He showed Dashiell sleeping peacefully in his bed. There were no cuts or bruises on his face, hands, body, or legs. After showing all that, he covered my son with the blanket and exited the room. “Master Dashiell wanted to talk to you yesterday. We forbade it. He used his friend's phone to call you and Lionel.”“Who attacked you?” I asked. He mentioned the group that had been my nemesis. They couldn't do that in NYC. That was why I was wary w

[Darcy]I put my bag on the couch and sat down. Tonight's events were completely unexpected. I was almost free from my big problem. I could be free from that humiliating job and live a normal life again. However, I couldn't do that without my son. My eyes heated up. I wanted to leave that job as soon as possible. But I needed a job to get my son back. Leaving Sinclair's club without a job was suicide. My friends abandoned me. They wouldn't give me a job no matter how low the level. How could I survive without working? I didn't want to beg or go to social centers. I could survive without other people's pity.Sean coming and redeeming me was unexpected. I came to the park to calm myself and escape my routine. My thoughts went back to my son and the pain of our separation. I didn't know if we would survive not seeing each other for three months.A woman came over when I was sad thinking about my baby. She looked at me with a happy face with the baby in her arms, making me jealous. Oh. The woman's face was familiar, but I couldn't remember where I met her.“I knew you wouldn't recognize me. My name's Lydia Tonkin. I'm a dancer at Sinclair's club,” she said, introducing herself.“Oh. I'm sorry.” I was stunned. Gosh. I said the word sorry.“I understand. You're a new dancer and don't know all of us yet.” Lydia glanced at my side. “Are you alone, or will someone be sitting there?”“Oh. Please.” I moved my bag to let her sit beside me.“Thank you.” She sat down and put her big bag on her right side. “I should make some milk before my daughter wakes up. She may be hungry.”The baby was small. She might be about four or five months old. The

The motorcycle tires screeched. My heart pounded loudly, deafening my ears. I almost stopped breathing because death was so close. I didn't want to die. My son needed me. If I was gone, who would raise him?Realizing I was okay, and the bike was still upright, I opened my eyes. Wesley took his hand away from my back. He wanted to continue, but a woman got out of the driver's side of the car and blocked his way.Another woman came out of the passenger side. She gave me a sharp look and stopped at the back of the car. Seeing the serious expressions on their faces, I sighed. They wouldn't leave until I complied with their wishes.I got off the motorcycle and took off my helmet. Thankfully, my legs weren't shaking anymore. “What is it?” I asked, challenging their piercing gazes.Wesley held out his hand, shielding me from Jean. The woman approached me with a fierce face. She was wrong if she thought I would be afraid of her with that expression.“Shut up and stay out of this, Wesley. Or I

[Sinclair]After texting Enzo the dancer's name that Dustin wanted, I put my phone in the inner pocket of my jacket. I stepped out of the car into the hotel lobby. After mentioning my name to the restaurant's front desk, she appointed her colleague to escort me.The woman led me to a room. She knocked on the door before opening it. A man inside stood up and extended his hand to me.“Sorry, I'm late.” I shook his hand.“You're not late,” Errol said. He let go of my hand and pointed to the chair across from him. “Have a seat. Let's order some food before we talk.”Errol Fiander was a well-known hotel owner who was constantly expanding his business. That ambitious man had borrowed a considerable amount of money from my company. He didn't let me down by repaying the debt on time. I used half of it to buy shares in his hotel. It was the right decision because the profit sharing was huge. Hans' business gave me more than Errol's hotel, though. I knew why he asked me to meet. Only Enzo could contact me through my phone when I wasn't at the club. Other employees had to report to my assistant, who passed the report on to me. She sounded serious and urgent.“You should have told Enzo, not called me. Only the security guards, Enzo, and I can enter the security room. So, report it to my assistant,” I ordered.“Sin,” Felicia said. Her voice turned soft and pleading. “What happened to us?”I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Did Felicia seriously ask about us? What happened to us? I didn't understand. We were being professional towards each other. Why was she suddenly asking about us as if we had a special relationship? One dance. I didn't let anyone dictate to me. My parents knew my nature and never tried to persuade or force me to do their will. What did a fired employee like him know about my father's killer?“Joaquin wasn't just the mastermind of your father's murder. He was also the one who threatened your mother's best friend. The woman who should have comforted your mother after losing her youngest son called her a failed mother. Paige Wyndham didn't die of deep sorrow, Sin,” Wesley added.I took out my gun, fired at the three security cameras in the hall, and aimed one bullet just above Wesley's head. Since I was using a silencer, there was no sound of gunfire, only the shattering of the cameras and the impact of the bullet on the wall. The large room was suddenly silent after the sound of camera fragments falling to the floor ended. Everyone held their breath. Their eyes fixed on Wesley before slowly turning to me. Their faces were deathly pale, including Joaquin's.“Aargh!” the woman at Wesley's side s

[Sinclair]Fortunately, it wasn't me who fell to the floor, but him. The man lost to my sniper's speed. His comrades drew in a surprised breath. They were well-trained people. No one screamed in terror, seeing their friend die before them.Whether the man was nervous or surprised, he shouldn't have pressed his gun's trigger. I didn't come to spill their blood. My enemy was Joaquin, not his stupid men. Neil opened the door to the house for me.“Drag his wife and children into the hall. We'll wait until Joaquin comes. Let him know. If he doesn't arrive within thirty minutes, I'll kill his family one by one, starting with his first son,” I ordered.“Okay, boss," Neil said.I could hear his satisfied tone. The bloodthirsty man must have missed that tense atmosphere. We hadn't been at war with any group for a long time. I purposefully played it safe because it wasn't time to go all out.I would have taken Joaquin out and left his family living on the streets, but it wasn't the right time.

The woman dragged a suitcase and carried a bag. She glared at me as if she wanted to kill me with her eyes. I felt like I was seeing my reflection of when I was angry at my sister for introducing her future husband years ago.I knew Sinclair was no innocent man. He must have slept with or had brief romances with his colleagues or employees. I saw how the other dancers looked expectantly at the mysterious man. Yet I didn't expect Felicia to be one of them.Jealousy could make people act recklessly and even break the law. I could relate to that. I understood why Felicia went to such lengths against me. I had no idea if Sinclair would report her actions to the police. He didn't say anything about that."Sinclair and I have no romantic relationship. Too bad. You let your emotions get the better of you,“ I said, seeing that she wouldn't move and was blocking my way.”Even a blind man knows he's attracted to you because of your face. Too bad. Your face can recover. I failed, but not next ti

[Darcy]I hadn't finished talking to Cullen but had to acknowledge the information regarding the accident. I left the place with a heavy heart and rushed to the car. Scott marched beside me while watching our surroundings. He was being very overzealous. People who wanted to kill me wouldn't wait long to attack me out in the open. They were bluffing. Therefore, they didn't follow me to the restaurant or the cemetery. To avoid a similar assault, I asked to meet Taylor in the city center. I requested that she get into the car. My cousin suggested dinner at one of the restaurants near us, but I declined.“Oh, my God,” she muttered when she saw my face."This is the reason I can't be in public. I've been wearing glasses and a mask all day," I explained.“What happened?” she asked worriedly.“You didn't ask to see me to talk about my situation,” I reminded her."You need to work on your attitude towards people who help you, Darcy. Your arrogant demeanor won't do you any favors at this point,

I left the secret corridor for the master room. The scene before me was one that I had witnessed many times and had ingrained in my head well. The chamber was empty. There was no one else but the house owner, who was lying stiffly on the bed.I approached the edge of the bed with my heart pounding and my body trembling. I whispered incessantly, hoping I would find a different state. However, God wasn't on my side. The scene was still the same. The handsome man widened his eyes and opened his mouth. The culprit surprised him but didn't torture him before killing him. However, that one fact didn't ease my anger. Hayward Wyndham was a good man, undeserving of such a horrible death.I closed his eyes and shut his mouth. Dad looked more peaceful with that expression. My eyes heated up. My lips trembled, holding back tears. Lionel held my hand, pulling me to save myself. However, I resisted. I wanted to be with my father for longer.I pulled back the blanket to sleep beside him, but seeing

[Sinclair]I needed shareholders because I couldn't manage such a big company alone. They helped me when I was a new leader by buying shares, giving advice, and sharing their experience in entrepreneurship. However, I wasn't that young Sinclair Wyndham. My horizons were broad and my connections were numerous. I wasn't afraid of anyone's threats because even the biggest shareholders were replaceable. I had many acquaintances who wanted to buy shares in Wyndham Finance.Henry Swan was the largest shareholder after me. He held twenty-five percent while I held fifty-one. I agreed to some of his suggestions out of respect for him as a senior. However, his threats wouldn't deter me."I won't forbid you and the shareholders from withdrawing funds or selling your shares. I'll gladly buy them at their current value. If it's not big enough, I'm willing to add ten percent so you don't lose out," I said.“What did you say?” Henry was surprised by my response. “You don't have enough money to pay my

I didn't want to believe it. Bridget and Sean couldn't have harmed their son."Don't make accusations without evidence. I can sue you for defamation." Bridget glanced at the door behind her. Dad was pleased when I said goodbye. I bought his favorite food, and the warden let me give it to him. I left that place with a smile, but the visit broke my heart. They hurt with words and confronted their enemies directly, not hiding behind a hitman. The culprit was an ignorant coward. I didn't know how to find out the person behind the slanderous prisoner. I couldn't ask the warden to show me the security camera footage or bribe the culprit to confess.“Where to next?” Scott asked when we were in the car.My phone vibrated. “One second.”There was a new message from Taylor.
