BELLA POV

A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. I had been lost in my head ever since I ended the call with my father, running through every possible way I could convince Vincent to let me leave. Meeting my father felt like an impossible dream, but I had to try.

The door creaked open, and Alessia stepped inside, as composed as ever in her neatly pressed uniform.

“Good evening, ma’am. Don has asked you to join him for dinner.”

My heart lifted at her words. Finally, a chance to talk to Vincent. I must find the right moment to bring it up. Hopefully, he is still nice.

“Thanks, Alessia. I’ll be down in a few minutes.”

She nodded politely and slipped out, closing the door behind her.

I hurried to the bathroom, turned on the faucet, and splashed cool water onto my face. My hands gripped the sink as I looked up at my reflection.

I looked better.

Healthier.

My skin had a glow that wasn’t there before, and the exhaustion that once weighed down my face had faded. Whether it was the ex

BELLA’s POV“If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here anymore. I’d still be rotting away in jail, and you… you’d continue to suffer in ignorance.”“I can’t believe this!” I exclaimed, my voice shaking.I really couldn’t believe it. All this time, I had blamed my dad for abandoning me, convinced he had chosen to walk away from my life. But the truth was far worse. He had been suffering while I resented him. I had let Vincent manipulate me into hating the only real family I had left.I felt so stupid.Vincent had played me like a fool. He had wrecked my life, stolen my trust, and as if that wasn’t enough, he had tried to kill my father. He was a monster.“I know this is a lot to take in,” my father said gently. “But it’s the truth. If not for Santiago, I would have died in that prison.”That name. Santiago. It sent a jolt through me. Why does that name sound so familiar?“Do I know him?” I asked, frowning. “The name, it feels like I’ve heard it before. And how did he do it? How did he

BELLAI was brooding in my room, trapped in a cycle of anger and helplessness.I hadn’t stepped out since last night. Even breakfast had been brought in by the maid, which I barely touched.I refused to see him.The bastard who should be rotting in prison for his crimes. The murderer had no right to walk free, let alone keep me locked up like a prisoner in his home. The door swung open without warning. I didn’t bother turning around. I kept my back to the intruder, staring at the empty wall like it held all the answers to my misery.“Looks like someone’s having a bad day.”His voice grated against my nerves.I turned slowly, my expression twisted into a scowl.Vincent.“What are you doing here?” I spat, my voice dripping with venom. He leaned casually against the doorframe, amusement flickering in his dark eyes. “Calm down, princess. This is my house, remember? I can go wherever I want.”Smug and Infuriating.I clenched my jaw, refusing to engage any further. I wasn’t in the mood to d

BELLAI still couldn’t believe it.Even as I sat in the car, my neatly packed bag resting on my lap, it felt surreal.I was really going back to school. Today is the day.I exhaled slowly, my fingers gripping the strap of my bag a little tighter.“Are you sure you packed everything? You didn’t forget anything, right?”Vincent’s voice pulled me from my thoughts, and when I turned to meet his gaze, I found his sharp eyes watching me closely. Why was he doing this?“Yes, I did,” I answered, trying to keep my voice steady. “Thanks to you, I got the timetable and everything else.”He nodded, but his expression remained unreadable.I hesitated. There was something I wanted to ask him, but after everything he had already done for me, I wasn’t sure if he’d agree. Still, I had to try.“Can I ask you for a little favor?” I finally said, my fingers fiddling with the hem of my sleeve to keep my nerves in check.Vincent’s head tilted slightly. “Go ahead.”I swallowed. “Can you ask the guards to st

She was my only friend, and I had abandoned her.“Carmen!” I yelled, spotting her across the hallway. Before she could react, I ran up and pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly, as if that alone could make up for my absence. She stiffened in my arms, unmoving. My smile faltered, but I refused to let go. I had missed her too much.“Get off me.”Her voice was dry, emotionless. It stung more than I expected.I released her slowly, searching her face for something but all I saw was indifference. No relief, no warmth. Just ice.“Carmen, I missed you,” I said, my voice softer now.She scoffed. Then she turned away and started walking, her steps sharp, heels stomping against the floor. She was angry. I couldn’t blame her.“Carmen, I’m sorry!” I called out, weaving through the sea of students in

BELLAThe guards dragged me back to the mansion, but my heart had already made a run for it. Fear gripped me so tightly I could barely breathe. There was no doubt in my mind that they had already filled Vincent in on what happened or at least their version of it. They’d say I tried to escape, and even though that wasn’t the truth, how could I possibly convince him otherwise when I had run from the guards?“Don is waiting for you,” one of the guards said, nodding toward the door.I swallowed hard. My legs felt like lead, but I had no choice. Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open and stepped inside.Silence.A silence so thick, so unnatural, it sent a chill racing down my spine. My gaze snapped forward, and there he was.Vincent.He was sitting in his chair, one leg crossed over the other, but his entire body was rigid, his fingers gripping the armrest like he was seconds away from snapping it in half. His aura had shifted completely, gone was the controlled, charming man I had s

VINCENTWhy couldn’t she just fucking listen? All she had to do was obey, but no, she had to push, to test me, to defy me.And now look where that got her.I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling sharply. I never wanted to lose control, but she drove me there. Even then, I knew when to stop. If I hadn’t, she would have passed out.I leaned against the wall, the distant sound of her ragged sobs filtering through the closed door. My jaw clenched.I should probably get her out now.Pushing off the wall, I stepped back into the dimly lit room. The scent of sweat and faint traces of blood lingered in the air. She was curled up, her body trembling with each broken sob, tear-streaked cheeks glowing under the faint light. The red welts and fading handprints on her pale skin stood out like battle scars. She noticed my presence and lifted her head, her eyes burning with venom as she glared at me. Pure, unfiltered hatred.I ignored it. I reached for her wrists, unclasping the cuffs from the chain

BELLAIt took me days to heal completely from the pain Vincent had put me through, and the worst part was that the bastard had refused to show himself before me again.I didn’t want to see him, but it was still infuriating that he hadn’t come to apologize. Not a single word. Not even a damn message.I went back to school on the third day, and things were far from normal. The guards were watching me like a hawk. All previous agreements had been dissolved, and I was back to being a prisoner.I hated how they shadowed my every move, their eyes scanning the halls, ensuring I didn’t step a foot out of line. It made my blood boil. And Vincent? He had been gone for the past week. At first, I thought he was avoiding me, but then I realized I hadn’t heard his voice in the mansion. Not once.No sign of him coming or going. No distant murmurs of his presence. Nothing. That only meant one thing. “He had traveled and left me here, caged like a damn bird.” I scoffed. My chest burned with frustrati

BELLA “Why can’t we just grab drinks from the vending machine?” I whined as Carmen dragged me across the street toward the little café opposite our school.“Because I’m not in the mood for watered-down soda, and this is the first time we’re moving around without your nannies breathing down our necks,” she shot back, barely slowing her pace.I huffed but couldn’t help laughing. “I thought you liked them? I distinctly remember you saying they were hot.” I wiggled my eyebrows at her.Carmen scoffed. “That was before I realized they were total creeps.”She had a point. When the guards first drove me to school and didn’t follow me inside, I was shocked. At first, I assumed they had stepped out for coffee or something, but then the entire day passed, and they only reappeared when it was time to pick me up.I asked about it, and the response was even more surprising. “Don has asked us to withdraw from guarding you in the school. He said it was not necessary.”I had no idea why he did that,

VINCENTMy eyes were glued to her every movement and every smile. I watched from the confines of my car window like I was on the outside of a world I used to belong to. My fists curled tight in my lap, nails digging into my palms as I watched her laugh like nothing ever happened. Like she didn’t leave a storm behind. There she was, chatting away in the cafeteria, carefree and unbothered, while I sat there drowning in anger and betrayal. I wanted to march in there and shake the truth out of her. To make her see the mess she created. Why?Was I not enough? Was my kindness not enough?Did I commit a crime by helping her? What did I do to deserve this betrayal? How do you look someone in the eye and feed them lies with the same lips that once said thank you? What stung the most wasn’t just the betrayal, it was the performance. BELLA“What is happening?” I muttered into the darkness, my voice barely a whisper against the quiet hum of the night.“I thought we were past this… why is he still avoiding me?” My fingers gripped the edge of the blanket tighter as I stared up at the ceiling. “It’s like he doesn’t even want to see me anymore, and it’s not making sense. We were just on a date yesterday so what the hell changed?”There was no one to answer, no voice to ease the storm in my mind. I’d been lying here for over an hour, tossing, and turning, hoping sleep would come and wash him out of my thoughts but it was no use. Vincent was everywhere. His face. His voice. The way he looked at me like I was more than just another girl passing through his world. We were happy on that date. I remember the way his eyes lingered on me, the way he smiled genuinely, like the world wasn’t such a cruel place anymore. And then, just like that, everything shifted. VINCENT“Good morning, Don. Hope you had a pleasant night,” Bianchi said, and I gave him an annoyed look.“What is it this time around?” I asked, drained. I just wanted some time alone to think.“Someone’s grumpy,” Bianchi grinned, and I rolled my eyes.“Last night I hacked into her phone, and it’s amusing how she foolishly left everything there. She didn’t even bother to delete their messages,” Bianchi said, and I sighed as I looked up at him.“I’m actually surprised you didn’t call me because I already sent it to you,” he added, glancing at my phone that sat untouched on the desk. I hadn’t looked at it since last night.I wasn’t in the mood to deal with anything. My heart felt heavy, and there was still that lingering anger and irritation. Notifications kept popping up, but I ignored them. I was afraid of what I might do if I gave in to the rage, afraid of how far I’d go, especially when the person who hurt me was probably out there lounging without a care in the world.“I was too b

I stalked toward my desk, fingers itching to be anywhere but in this room. “You dragged me away from something important.”“By important do you mean your little date with Bella?” he asked, bitterness laced in every syllable. The edge in his voice made me pause. Just slightly. But I didn’t appreciate the tone.“What’s with the attitude?” I asked coldly. “I get that you don’t like her, but what I do in my free time is none of your business, Bianchi. You interrupted a moment I’ll never get back.”He gave me a flat, unimpressed look. “Were you about to fuck her?”I scoffed, leaning against the edge of my desk with my arms crossed. “No.”“Good.” He tossed a manila envelope onto my desk. “Because that would’ve been the biggest mistake of your life. And possibly your one-way ticket straight to hell.”My stomach tightened. I didn’t m

BELLA “What’s your schedule like today?” I asked, voice soft as we lay tangled in each other beneath the warm sheets. My head rested on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. “I’ve got a pretty busy day,” Vincent murmured, fingers absentmindedly weaving through my curls. “Need to check on a few shipments, then some back-to-back meetings. Why? Are you thinking of stealing me away?” I smiled, savoring the warmth of his touch. “I was planning to take you out, just something simple. But it can wait. Work’s important.” His hand paused, and then he shifted slightly, guiding me gently until I was straddling his waist. His eyes searched mine as he cradled my face in his hands. “What did you just say?” he asked, voice low but curious. “I said I wanted to take you out. Nothing fancy, just us. But, it’s okay, we can do it another day.” A spark lit up in his eyes, and he looked at me like I’d just handed him the stars. “You want to take me out on a date?” he repe

Worth every second.”His gaze dragged over me like a slow caress, and I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks despite the towel wrapped snugly around me.“Pervert,” I muttered, trying to hide the fluster in my voice. “What are you doing here?”Vincent stopped just inches from me, his expression unreadable for a moment before softening into something warm.
