“Please spare me, I didn’t mean to betray you, please.” The man cried as his face was bloody and unrecognisable.

“I wonder if that’s what came to your mind when you were leaking information about my organisation.” A man seated on a chair in front of the bleeding man said with a breezy voice.

“I swear I had no choice they told me if I didn’t do it, they would kill my entire family, spare me boss please.” The man pleaded for his life as he dropped his head on the ground, his sobbing mixed with his cracking voice from lack of water.

“I know the feeling for losing a loved one, but what pisses me off is that you were afraid of someone else’s threat rather than your own boss.” The man on the chair said as he stood up from it and walked towards the bleeding man and crouched to his level.

“Boss, I must have been out of my mind. You are scarier than they were.” The man said and grabbed the man in charge by the legs and continued cry.

The boss shock the mans grip on his leg and lifted his face with his finger to take a closer look at the traitor, ‘you don’t need to worry about your family I will take care of them, see you on the other side amigo.”

“Please no.” The man begged but the boss had no sign of sympathy on his face. The boss stood up fixed his greased trousers and turned away from the weeping man.

“Luca, finish him.” The boss said and Luca nodded in agreement, took out is gun and shot the man straight on the head.

“Boss, it is done.” Luca said turning to face his boss.

“Call the boys to clean this place up and then follow me to my study we have things to discuss.” The boss said and walked up the stairs and out of the dungeon looking room. He continued to walk down the hallway and finally walked into a lavish bedroom fit for a king and an un-suite bathroom designed only for royalty.

The man removed his clothes and hopped into the shower, making sure to remove any trace of blood on his body. After a while he hopped out with a towel wrapped around his lower body. He got dresser in a black trouser, white dress shirt with the first two buttons revealing his abs, and finally completed his look with his black shoes made by his sister’s clothing line called ‘Russo’.

He wore his watch, put on his wrist rosery, and walked out of his room smelling finer than the smell of brand-new printed money. He walked down the hallway until he reached his study, and someone was waiting for hm.

She turned when she heard is footsteps and smiled brightly at him, ‘Gio.” She screamed as she excitingly ran into his arms, and he hugged her back tenderly.

“Alice, when did you get back? Luca nor Lorenzo said anything.”

“I wanted to surprise my big brother.” Alice said happily.

“I hate surprises, but I glad you got back safely.” Gio said pulling away from their hug and heading towards his desk and takes a seat. Alice walks to the open bar in the study and pours her brother his favourite whiskey and paced him the glass, and he gladly took a sip from it.

“You know me very well.” Gio said sounding very refreshed.

“Of course, I do, you are my brother after all.” Alice said as she sat opposite from him.

“As pleasant it is to dwell on how much you know me, I am sure you know that I can read you like an open book. What is it that you truly want to talk about?” Gio asked and put his glass on his desk, leaning back comfortably on his chair.

“Well, I just got back from my fashion show, and it was amazing but the number of bodyguards you assigned to me I think you over did it.” Alice said and breathed heavily as she waited for her brothers response because she knew him but could never guess what he was thinking.

“So, in other words you believe that I exaggerated with your protection?” Gio asked, raising his left eyebrow.

“Gio, all I am saying is that with that many bodyguards I attract so much attention and I don’t want that. I am already 23 I think I should be able to at least get what I want.” Alice said and continued to fidget with her fingers that were on her lap.

“I can’t tell whether this is a joke or not, so I am not able to laugh. Please forgive me. I will not compromise your safety because of your little feelings. Do you think that people don’t know you are my sister? My weakness? I will not have you put in harm’s way because of your feelings because I’d rather you hate me than I grant you such a request.” Gio said in a very calm but upset tone.

Alice held her tears because she could feel a wave coming, “I understand Gio, consider this request terminated.” Gio looked at his sister, upset not at her but at himself for almost making her cry but he knew that this was the only way to keep her safe. He nodded at her and waved his hand at Luca to come in.

Luca walked in and stopped only for a second to look at Alice’s teary eyes and quickly regained his composure.

“Boss, the boys have finished with what you asked me to tell them to do.” Luca said.

“Hi Luca, bye Luca.” Alice said and rushed out of the room embarrassed that Luca had seen her ugly teary eyes.

“Where is Lorenzo?” Gio asked.

“He still isn’t back from the warehouse. I had called him before coming here.” Luca said as he sat down.

Gio sighed and massaged his temples, “Why is he taking so long? Did he say when he would be coming back?”

“Well, he said he would be back in a blink of an eye.” Luca said smirking at his own response, earning him a glare from Gio.

“You find that amusing Luca?”

“Of course, not boss.” Luca said, still not able to wipe the smile off his face.

“Gentlemen I am here.” Lorenzo said as he walked in looking dashing in his black suit.

“About time, boss was close to sending a search party to find you.” Luca said laughing under his breath.

“I wouldn’t waste my resources on this scumbag.” Gio said taking another sip from his glass and smirking at Lorenzo.

“I am glad to know how you feel about me boss.” Lorenzo said as he slumped down on the chair opposite Gio and besides Luca.

“Report Lorenzo, enough about yourself” Gio said as he quickly changed gears to serious mode and so did Luca and Lorenzo.

“I checked the damage done to our warehouse on XDX4 road and it was hectic. That idiot really picked one of the best. I manged to identify what was destroyed and what remained intact.

“Del Matta is becoming more impatient, and he is trying to hit me hard.” Gio said looking upset.

“Boss, what should we do then? Do we hit him back?” Luca asked.

“I do have a particular information I would like to share.” Lorenzo said looking even more serious than before.

“What is it?” Gio asked.

“You know how people think that Del Matta is God sent and helps the poor?” Lorenzo said, taking a breather.

“Yes? What about it?”

“He has a bunch of academies around the globe and the students there I paid and return they can help their families but one thing that disturbs me is that if it’s just a simple academy, why do they pay the kids and what jobs do they do?” Lorenzo said.

“What is the academy called?” Luca asked, very intrigued.

“It is called ‘Bringer of Life Academy.” Lorenzo answered.

“What a whole load of bullshit. What kind of name is that?” Luca asked laughing.

“It can’t be that simple Luca, knowing Del Matta he always hides behind things.” Gio said and stood up from his chair.

“I thought so too.” Lorenzo added.

“We can look into it and see where we can nail him boss.” Luca said. Gio turned away from them, his glass in one hand and the other hand in his pocket while he faced the window.

“Before that we need to hit him where it hurts so he knows we aren’t here to play.” Gio said.

“Of course, Don Russo.” Luca and Lorenzo said in union.

“Besides I feel like an angel will come and make our work easier. Call it a feeling from my gun.” Gio said and smirked as he took the final sip from his glass.

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 57 – The First Strike

Sofia stood alone in the communications room long after everyone else had cleared out.The space was dim, lit only by the glow of monitors and the faint reflection of her own face in the glass. On every screen, fragments of the Council’s broadcast looped endlessly—her name, her image, her sentence. Traitor. Target. Threat. She had spent most of her life erasing herself, moving silently, leaving nothing behind but bodies and questions. The Council had believed that silence was her nature. They were wrong.Behind her, the door opened quietly.Russo entered without announcement, his presence steady, unhurried. ‘If you do this,’ he said calmly, ‘there’s no reclaiming anonymity.’

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 56 – Branded

The announcement did not come with sirens or gunfire. It came quietly. That was how the Council always operated when they wanted fear to seep into the bones rather than explode on impact. By the time the world realised something had changed, the damage would already be done.Sofia felt it first as a disruption in the digital air.Russo’s estate buzzed with low-level activity—comms operators murmuring, screens flickering as encrypted channels lit up one after another. She stood near the central operations table, arms folded, posture calm despite the tension tightening her spine.Alex stood beside her now, a faint bruise darkening his jaw, his eyes sharp and restless as he scanned incoming data. He hadn’t asked questions

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 55 – When the Board Shatters

The alarms at the Council complex did not stop when Alex crossed the outer gates. They followed him into the city like a warning siren meant for anyone still loyal enough to listen.By the time he reached the underground transit tunnel, his face was slick with sweat, lungs burning, but his mind was terrifyingly clear. There was no going back now. Whatever fragile protection his rank had once afforded him was gone. Madam Lee would not hesitate to brand him a traitor, and the Council would not hesitate to erase him.Alex disappeared into the service tunnels, shedding his jacket, dumping his weapon into a drainage shaft, and becoming anonymous by necessity. Every step was calculated, every turn deliberate. Survival had always been part of the training. Tonight, it was personal.A

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 54 – The Price of Loyalty

Alex had always believed that truth revealed itself eventually. You just had to dig long enough. The safehouse was quiet except for the soft hum of the servers lining the walls. Screens glowed with fragments of data—mission logs, intercepted transmissions, corrupted Council files slowly being stitched back together. Alex sat at the centre of it all, eyes bloodshot, jaw tight, his body running on caffeine and stubborn refusal to stop. The deeper he dug, the uglier it became.Timelines didn’t match. Casualty reports had been altered. Entire operations had been erased from record, their participants listed as KIA when Alex knew they had never returned to base at all. And always, like a fingerprint pressed into wet cement, one name appeared at the edge of every anomaly.

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 53 – A Choice, Not a Cage

Sofia had always believed that choice was an illusion. The Council taught that obedience was survival. That questioning orders was weakness. That loyalty was measured by how quickly you pulled the trigger when told to. For years, she had mistaken endurance for freedom, discipline for purpose.Standing now in Don Russo’s study, she understood how wrong she had been. The room was quiet, the low hum of the city filtering in through the tall windows behind him. Russo stood near his desk, jacket discarded, sleeves rolled up in a way that suggested this was not a negotiation he intended to dominate. He watched her closely, not like prey, not like property—but like an equal weighing another.Damian lingered near the door, deliberately silent.

  • The Mafia's Assassin (Don Russo)   CHAPTER 52 – The Council Does Not Forgive

The Council chamber was never silent by accident.Every echo, every pause, every measured breath was calculated to intimidate, to remind those within its walls that power did not need to shout. It simply waited. Tonight, that silence felt brittle, stretched thin by impatience and fear.Madam Lee stood at the centre of the room, hands clasped behind her back, spine straight, chin lifted. She had perfected the posture years ago—confidence without arrogance, loyalty without submission. It had served her well.Until now.‘Your report is incomplete,’ one of the Council members said, voice distorted by the modulation field that concealed identity. ‘You assured us the mission would be neutralised.’Madam Lee incli
