Chapter 6
Tara helped Sharon pick out the dress she would be wearing.
“Ma’am, the white dress or the yellow dress? Tara asked meekly, holding up both dresses.
Sharon looked at them through the mirror and she seemed to contemplate for a while. She didn’t think much about it when she chose the white one. It wasn’t the time for her to be deliberating over mere clothes.
“The white dress,” Sharon told her.
Tara brought the white dress to her at once and she got her dressed up.
She helped her dress adequately and her long brunette hair was combed down until it shone and her scalp ached.
Sharon stared at her reflection in the mirror, which was almost blinding. She looked markedly different from when she first arrived at the mansion.
Tara kept looking at her, not daring to take her eyes off even for a second; she had never seen anyone as stunning as her new mistress
“You look, pretty ma’am, you had the prettiest face I had ever seen.” She complemented her
Sharon only nodded, no smile crept from her lips
Tara moved over to Sharon and helped her pack up her hair into a French style, Sharon looked up at the young lady working so diligently and She was suddenly forced to ask
“How long have you been working here?” She asked her
A smile crept out from her lips.
“I was sold off by my father but luckily I was brought by a merciful mafia Boss.” She smiled even more
“I had been working here since then but I was never treated like a maid.” She added.
Sharon nodded slightly, hearing that, she was even more curious about Mathew.
Is he soft-hearted? He doesn’t look like one. And he looked like the rude type
What if he was just like his brother?
Sharon ignored the thought, it wasn’t time to be thinking over that. She doesn’t have to care about the man, she will only be using him to take her revenge. All she needs is to start plotting her revenge before there is another change in the plot.
The moment Tara was done with her hair, she stepped away from her and let her examine her reflection in the mirror.
She stared at her blue eyes that were so clear, e even the dress complimented her mien. She was appealing to the eyes. Sharon liked how her hair was styled so a soft smile escaped from her lips this time
Sharon stood tall from where she sat,
“You look beautiful, Miss,” Tara complimented again
“You're the lady of the house, I must confess that you look the part ma’am.” She added her smile increasing in high voltage.
Sharon smiled softly at her.
She walked to the bed and sat on the edge of the mattress.
Tara stood in front of her.
“I had been working here for a long time but I had never seen any woman here, I was shocked when I was told I had been assigned to a mistress.“ Tara added looking so excited and pleased.
Sharon could see that she talked a lot but strangely liked her, she reminded her of her younger self.
She only smiled at her
“I guess he had been waiting for me all along.” A smirk escaped from her lips
Tara's brows knitted closely together, she couldn’t understand what she meant.
However, her next words were interrupted by a knock that came to Sharon’s door.
Chapter sevenTara went over to get the door. When she opened the door, Dee’s face was instantly revealed to her.“It’s time for dinner.” She announced and left instantly Tara shut the door and walked back to Sharon. It’s time for dinner and Sir Mathew had requested for you.Sharon stood up from where she had sat and without hesitation, she walked out of the roomSince she doesn’t know her way around, Tara volunteered to be her guard, showing her some places around the house but she didn’t put much mind on them After all she knew she wouldn’t be needing them. She will only be staying with him for a short time Finally, they arrived at a grand dining hall. Sharon's eyes scanned through the whole room and they finally rested on two people in the room, Sharon didn’t need a soothsayer to know who they were, the man sitting on one of the chairs like a king upon his throne would be her new husband and the middle-aged woman right beside him dishing out the meals is Dee, the motherly houseke
Chapter eightSharon looked at the rude man, She couldn’t believe he could say that to her face However, her next words were interrupted by a call that came suddenly on his phone.Mathew took a glance at his cell phone and his expression instantly changed, he stood up from where he sat and walked slightly away from the dining tableSharon clenched her fist tightly as his words kept coming back to her. She was greatly insulted by him, well it was never his fault, she was the one who was so stupid to believe all his lies.“Do you want second, Miss?” Dee's voice managed to jolt her out of her thoughtShe looked down at her meal that she had only nibbled on the whole day, she had hardly taken a spoon from it so why would she ask if she wanted more?Sharon didn’t want to act rude, she only looked up at the woman forcing a smile across her face“No. I’m fine.” She mumbledAfter all, she had her pride too, it was just her first day in the house, so why would she ask for a second? It would on
Chapter nine"What do you mean when you say you 'died' before?" Tara asked, walking closely behind Sharon. Sharon had left her in a lot of confusion with just a few words.Sharon suddenly paused. She tilted her head in her direction, trying to see if anyone could try to understand her at least.“I died once before.Even before she could continue, she could see how confused Tara already was. She had probably thought that she was crazy.“Never mind.” Sharon sighed and instantly walked away from her side. Tara took her feet and walked after she ignored her loud footsteps that echoed through the hallway.“Did you by chance hit your head on your way here?” She raised a brow, trying to meet up with Sharon.Sharon ignored her and walked towards her room. The moment she arrived in front of the familiar door, she looked over at the giant door close to her. She raised a brow, slightly turning to Tara.“Who does this room belong to?” She asked, piqued with curiosity.“It’s Sir Mathew’s room,” T
Chapter TenShe had been so startled to see the man that she had never expected anyone in the middle of the night.“What are you doing in the middle of the night? Aren’t you supposed to be sleeping?” She questioned.Sharon knew it wasn’t the right question to ask; it was his house, and he could do whatever he wanted.Matthew ignored her; he walked over to the switch, reached up for the light switch, and flickered it on. The light immediately poured into the dark room, and Sharon squinted her eyes at the sudden reflex. He returned to the sofa, where he took his seat.“Is he having difficulty sleeping?” Sharon thought.Sharon ignored the thought; she crouched to the floor and started to pack everything she dropped. “You should know how to keep your voices low; your cries are quite disturbing and irritating.” The man said it to her face.Sharon's brows instantly snapped together. How did he know that she cried?“Have you been sneaking on me?” She scoffed. For a minute, she had forgotte
Chapter ElevenSharon sat there and watched as he spun on his heels and walked away, the shadow of his silhouette reflecting on the walls. After the man left, she drank to her satisfaction, and upon finishing the last drop, she collapsed onto the bed.“Young Miss.” Sharon could feel a soft tap on her shoulder, waking her up.Her eyes quietly opened, and right before she was Dee.“I’m sorry, I didn’t know when I slept off.” Sharon apologized and sat up."It's morning already?" Her eyes went out of the window, seeing how fast morning had come.Sharon's eyes suddenly scanned around the room as if she were in search of something.“What about Mathew?” She asked Dee.“He left for work,” Dee responded. She quietly nodded. She got on her feet, ready to leave for her room, but she was stopped halfway by Dee’s voice.“Sir Mathew instructed me to take you shopping,” Dee told her.Sharon was a little surprised. When she checked her closet earlier, she saw enough clothes in there.“And is there an
Chapter Twelve Sharon stepped vividly on the accelerator, heading for the lawyer’s office. The moment she pulled up in front of the building, she alighted, catching some attention as usual. She ignored all the gazes and walked through the door, her three-inch heels sounding clearly on the tilted floor.“Good morning. I’m here to see lawyer Chatterley.” Sharon stated this as she approached the receptionist's counter.“Do you have an appointment with him?” She smiled at Sharon warmly. “Yes.” She said it without hesitation.“Your name?” The lady asked as she glanced through the big book in front of her.“Sharon. Sharon George." She added her father's name.A satisfied smile escaped from her lips when she saw Sharon's name in the appointment room.“Okay. Mr. Chatterley is waiting for you in his office.” She mumbled.Sharon mouthed a thank you and left in the direction of the lawyer's office. The moment she arrived in front of his door, she stifled the traces of nervousness she was feeli
Chapter Thirteen Sharon regretted every minute she spent believing Aria. Tears pooled in Sharon's eyes, but she quickly sent away her tears; right now she was done sobbing because of them. She will be getting her company back and making Andrew regret leaving her for Aria.Sharon suddenly found her phone buzzing, indicating a call coming in. She had grabbed her phone back after visiting the hotel with Remo. The moment she glanced at the phone screen, Sharon immediately saw that it was the same devil who was calling.Sharon parked beside the road and didn’t hesitate to pick up at the first ring; she wanted to listen to what Aria had to say, even though she had no time for such a pretentious bitch. “Sister!” Aria's sweet voice came the moment she picked up.“Where have you been? I have been really worried about you.” Aria's voice added, and she squeezed her face from the other end. Aria had faked a broken voice, but Sharon was still not moved. Sharon said nothing; she bit her lip and
Chapter FourteenAndrew's jaw slackened completely. Aria wasn’t left out; she wasn’t aware of that fact. “Didn’t the house belong to Andrew?” She drew her brows together, confused. However, she didn’t want to believe Sharon's words.“Are you saying this place belongs to you? There is no way that’s possible.” Aria scoffed and glanced over at Andrew, who had fallen into total silence. She wanted him to defend himself, but Andrew couldn’t say a word. Aria's brows knitted together tightly. Was Sharon stating the facts?Sharon clearly remembered how she gathered her money to buy them a nice house after Andrew complained about how broke he was and how bad his company was moving when they wanted to get married. Buying the house was part of the reason she was penniless after their marriage, but in return, she was betrayed. But how could she be so stupid not to notice all the obvious? Sharon's eyes scanned around the house that was painted in Aria’s favorite color; everything in the house w
Chapter 140Sharon’s vision blurred as she leaned back against the passenger seat, pain pulsing through her body with every jolt of the car. Ella drove like a woman possessed, her hands gripping the wheel tightly, her foot pressing hard on the accelerator. She didn’t even seem to notice how fast they were going, speeding past streetlights and weaving through traffic. Nothing mattered to her but getting Sharon to the hospital. "Hold on, Sharon," Ella urged, her voice tight with fear. "We’re almost there."Sharon could barely respond. Her head was spinning, and her stomach felt like it was on fire. The pain from Sophie’s blow had only worsened, and she could feel a warmth trickling down her body, blood. Panic set in, but she fought it down, focusing on Ella’s words, trying to stay conscious. The hospital loomed ahead, and Ella barely slowed as she pulled into the parking lot. She rushed out of the car, barely waiting for the nurse to help them before she was ushered into the emergency
Chapter 139Sharon and Ella walked out of the office. She had signed the correct documents, sent them out, and everything had been approved. The project was moving forward, and Sharon was preparing herself for the hard work ahead. This was her chance to take back the company, and she knew she couldn’t afford to relent. The thoughts of what she was about to do made her heart beat faster. She had to keep going. She had to stay strong. But just as they were walking down the sidewalk, Sharon suddenly stopped, her footsteps faltering.Ella noticed immediately, glancing over to her. “What’s wrong?”She didn’t expect it to hit her like this. She touched her belly instinctively, feeling the tightening sensation. The longing, anger, frustration, and that deep yearning. A desire to be near him, even though he was the last person she should be thinking about right now.Ella caught the movement and immediately understood. Her face softened with concern as she stepped closer to Sharon. “Don’t le
Chapter 138Sharon sat back in her chair, her hands steady as she signed the last of the documents that had been sitting on her desk for days. It was a simple task, yet one that had felt like it was looming over her, as if the weight of her recent troubles would stop her from getting it done. But now, she was finally on track. Her signature was swift, confident, and with it, she sent the documents off to their partners. She leaned back, a satisfied smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. The email confirmation came in almost immediately, the message saying it had been approved. Her success was undeniable, and she could already feel the wave of praise building in the air. Not just from her team, but from the shareholders. They had always been watching, and now, they were congratulating her for the success she brought to the company. "Good work, Sharon," came a voice from the doorway. A colleague had stepped in, offering a smile. "Your efforts are paying off.""Thanks," Sharon sai
Chapter 137Aria’s heart pounded as she ran through the streets, clutching her bag tightly to her side. She didn’t know why she was running, or why the fear that gripped her chest was growing with each step. But it was there, clawing at her insides, and she couldn’t stop running. Her mind raced as she replayed the events over and over in her head, Sharon’s collapse, her own actions that led to it, and now the crushing weight of uncertainty bearing down on her. She had never been afraid of consequences before. But now, something was different. She couldn’t stop herself from running.By the time she arrived back home, she was out of breath, her chest rising and falling with each heavy inhale. She slammed the door behind her, locking it with trembling hands. Her entire body felt stiff, as if she were trapped in a nightmare that she couldn’t escape. She leaned against the door for a moment, gathering herself, trying to steady the shaking of her limbs. She had to think. She had to make a
Chapter 136The next morning, Aria walked into the office, her mind was already prepared for the chaos she expected to unfold. She’d set everything up the night before, knowing that the humiliation of Sharon was only a matter of time. She had made sure the photoshopped images of Sharon would circulate, ensuring that her reputation would take a hit. The plan was perfect, or so she thought. Everything would be done once she got to find a dramatic scene. She had anticipated a dramatic confrontation, the kind of scene where Sharon would be caught off guard and fall into the trap. Instead, what greeted her was far from what she imagined. As she stepped into the office, she found Sharon laughing, a wide, genuine smile stretched across her face as she engaged with her project partners. The usual tension that Aria had hoped for was nowhere to be found. Instead, Sharon seemed completely at ease, surrounded by people who seemed to enjoy her company. Her laughter rang through the room, and Ar
Chapter 135Aria's grip tightened on the steering wheel as she glanced in the rearview mirror. Matthew’s car was still there, trailing her down the road like a persistent shadow. The thought of him following her made her blood boil, but she didn’t let it show. She wasn’t about to let him get the best of her, not now, not when she had more important things to take care of.Without hesitating, she veered her car off the main road and onto a side street, taking a sharp turn that led her to a nearby church. It was quiet there, peaceful even, and most importantly, away from Matthew's prying eyes. If he wanted to follow her, let him. She wasn’t going to let him ruin her plans. The old stone church loomed ahead as she parked, locking her car behind her as she stepped out. She made sure to keep her pace slow, not wanting to give away the fact that she was intentionally trying to lose him. Her heels clicked against the cobblestone walkway as she walked toward the entrance, the cool night air b
Chapter 134Leo sat quietly across from Matthew, his gaze fixed to his friend, who seemed lost in his thoughts. They had just finished a rather tense phone call with Sharon. Matthew dialed her number, his heart pounding in his chest as he waited for her to pick up. When she finally did, her voice was soft, distant. He was able to hear her voice and that was all he wanted to hear, just a reassurance that she was okay. But despite the calmness in her voice, he knew that it wasn't real.Leo watched the entire interaction in silence, his concern for his friend growing. As Matthew ended the call, Leo couldn’t hold back any longer.“You’ve got to step up your game, Matt,” Leo said, his tone laced with frustration. “I can’t keep watching you like this. You need to do something if you want her back.”Matthew sighed, rubbing his temples as if trying to push away the weight of the conversation. “I know. But I’m not going to rush in blind. I need to figure out what’s going on with her. What’
Chapter 133Sharon watched Tilly leave after handing her lunch, and for a moment, she let her thoughts drift. The office was quiet, save for the occasional shuffle of papers or a soft murmur of conversation. She thought she could finally get some peace, but then a small nagging voice reminded her of something. She hadn’t dropped off the project file on her colleague’s desk yet.“Wait,” Sharon called out, stopping Tilly before she could leave. Tilly turned back, waiting for Sharon to speak. “The file,” Sharon said, her voice calm but with a hint of urgency. “You didn’t leave it on my desk.”Tilly hesitated for a moment, then replied, “I haven’t finished it yet, Sharon. I was just getting your lunch and… I’ll finish the file now.”Sharon nodded, appreciating the quick response but still feeling a slight tension building up in her chest. “Make sure you finish it quickly. I need it on my desk soon.”With that, Tilly nodded hurriedly and excused herself, leaving Sharon alone with her thou
Chapter 132Matthew sat in his office, his eyes fixed on the footage from the bar. His fingers drummed against the desk in frustration as he rewound the video for the fifth time. His head was pounding, and a feeling of unease settled deep within him as he watched it unfold. The footage was clear enough, the moment he’d entered the bar, everything had seemed normal. But then, he saw it. The waitress, smiling sweetly, had brought him a drink. He hadn’t thought anything of it at the time, but now he could see the slight hesitation in her movements, the subtle way she slid something into his glass before handing it to him.Matthew’s stomach twisted. He had been drugged. He ran the footage again, this time more slowly, as his mind tried to piece everything together. The blurred memories of the night before started to surface, the dizziness, the confusion, the sudden loss of control. The things he’d said, the actions he’d taken. He clenched his fists in anger. He'd been manipulated, used
