As soon as I sat down, John came forward and served me my food. I peeked at Ezekiel from under my lashes, surprisingly enough, his gaze was on me. I went ahead to munch on my food with the plan to totally ignore him. I don't want to engage him in any form of conversation. Maybe when he sees than not interested in him or whatever he's saying, he'd probably get tired and leave.

I looked at the maid who just came in to fill my glass with orange juice and muttered a low thank you after she was done.

"You look so innocent and naive. Don't you think?" Ezekiel muttered, his eyes still trained on me. I paused for a while gave him a brief look before resuming eating my food. "Oooooh, she's playing the ignore game...But you don't know I'm the master of that game. You've just woken up my hunting spirit, darling." I looked at him again. His eyes had a mischievous glint in them and a somewhat dangerous smirk was playing on his lips.

I took a deep sigh to bury down my annoyance and set my cutlerie

The soft press of his lips lingered, creating a sweet warmth that spread through me like wildfire. In that moment, everything else faded away, and all that mattered was the feeling of his touch against my skin. It was a simple kiss, but in that moment, it felt like the whole world had stopped just for us. His hands cupped my face, his touch sending a wave of electricity coursing through me. As his lips met mine, the kiss was no longer gentle and sweet, but filled with raw passion and desire. Our bodies pressed together, fitting perfectly like two puzzle pieces coming together. The intensity of the moment made my head spin, my breath coming in short gasps as I lost myself in the heat of his touch. Every kiss was like a fire that burned between us, igniting a flame that consumed all my senses. And as w

The next day, I was feeling so much better. Alexander made sure I rested properly yesterday without stressing myself. I practically slept the whole day, trying to regain my lost strength and weary muscles.Alexander wanted me stay in today and rest, but I refused with the excuse that I want to go and see Ava. But truthfully, I want to go and see her, it's been a while since I last saw her. After much persuasion, pleading, sulking face and a pouty lips, Alexander agreed but then I'd have to go with a lot of bodyguards which is not even a problem. They can crowd my space if they want, so far as I get to meet Ava. I've missed her so much. The drive to Ava's bakery was becoming unbearably long and boring, even when I tried to engage Jackson in a conversation, but I'd end up getting ignored or a curt nod as a reply. So much for being a sophisticated chief guard. He should loosen up a little.Immediately the car stopped in front of her bakery, I jumped out of the car and headed for the ent

I stepped out of Ava's office dusting off imaginary dust from my blue floral dress, the delicate fabric fluttering around my knees as I moved.I glanced around, taking in the familiar sights and sounds of the bakery. I sat silently in the plush, leather-bound rear seat of the sleek, black Cadillac SUV, parked discreetly at the curb in front of Mr. Sebastian's grand, gated estate. The soft hum of the engine and the gentle purr of the air conditioning created a soothing background noise, but my mind was elsewhere, focused on the wait. For the past twenty minutes, I had been patiently sitting in the car, surrounded by the luxurious amenities of the SUV, including the soft glow of the dashboard lights and the sweet scent of the premium leather upholstery. Alexander had specifically asked me to wait for him inside the vehicle, and I had obliged, using the time to collect my thoughts and gaze out the tinted windows at the immaculately manicured lawn and the imposing facade of Mr. Sebastian's mansion. The silence was almost meditative, broken only by the occasional chirp of a bird or the low small talks of the two bodyguards in front of the car. I checked my watch for what felt like the hundredth time, w

"It's been good. We've been landing some big deals lately. And don't ask me lame questions when you know exactly how business has been," he added, sarcasm dripping off his words.I took a sip of my wine, listening as the conversation flowed easily around me. FIVE MONTHS LATER I clutched Alexander's hand, my nails digging deep into his skin as a contraction ripped through my body like a wave crashing on the shore. "It's time," I panted, my eyes locked onto his, my voice barely above a whisper. Alexander's face was etched with concern, but he smiled reassuringly, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "We're almost there, my love. Just a few more minutes." He stroked my hair, his touch gentle and soothing. But I knew it was more than that. The pain was intensifying, like a fire burning brighter with each passing moment. I could feel the baby's head crowning, the pressure building. • The Mafia Prince's Angel: His Miracle   Forevermore

IVORY'S POV It's been two days since I saw Ezekiel at the diner. And surprisingly, I haven't seen anything unusual. I had thought that they would've stormed here already, and I've been holding on to that small hope that Ezekiel was considerate enough not to tell Alexander my location. I've been living in this small, shabby apartment for months now, trying to lay low and avoid detection. It's been a lonely existence, but a necessary one. I've missed Alexander, missed him more than I thought possible. I never stopped loving him, but I couldn't go back to him, not to his world. It was too dangerous, too suffocating. As I looked around my apartment, I felt a pang of sadness. It was small and empty, except for the bed, a table, and a few other sparse furnishings. Joe had given it to me, and I was grateful for his kindness. At least I had a roof over my head, a place to call my own. But it was a far cry from the life I had left behind. I missed the luxury, the comfort, the sense of secur

Every lead, every hint, every rumor had turned out to be a dead end. I was starting to lose my grip on reality, my mind consumed by thoughts of her, of where she might be, of whether she was safe.I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep. I couldn't focus on anything except finding her. My business was suffering, my relationships were suffering, my very sanity was suffering. And yet, I couldn't stop. I couldn't rest until I found her.Because I loved her. I loved her more than life itself. I loved her more than I ever thought possible. She was my everything, my reason for being. And without her, I was nothing. And then, the news had come. She was pregnant. My baby was growing inside her, and I wasn't there to see it, to feel it, to be a part of it. The thought was almost too much to bear.I remembered the d

I had to keep running, had to keep hiding. I couldn't let them find me.I had been living off the grid, using cash and fake IDs to survive. I had cut my hair short and dyed it brown, trying to blend in with the crowd. I had lost weight, my eyes sunken from lack of sleep. But despite the hardships, I felt free. I felt alive.I thought back to the night I escaped, the rain pounding against my face as I ran. I had never felt so alive, so exhilarated.I had made my way to Ravenwood, a small, quaint town nestled in the heart of Oregon, where I had managed to find a work as a waitress at a local diner. I kept to myself, never making friends or connections. I couldn't afford to get close to anyone. But as the months passed, I started to feel a sense of belonging.
